Love at first bite I think I've found my new favorite place when I have a sweet tooth!!! Which is pretty much every other day I came here for the grand opening of Cinnaholic. They had free coffee, samples, and handed out hand warmers for each and every brave soul who came for the $1 cinnamon rolls from 10am to 2pm. I got there a little before 10 and waited for my friend so we can wait in line for our cinnamon rolls. I got in line at 10 and waited until 11:45 to get in. By the time we were out after ordering it was 12:30. After my friend and I got inside we patiently waited while the smell inside made my mouth salivate even more! I got 2 rolls- see photos! I've had a piece of each and all I gotta say is daYUUUUM. By far the BEST cinnamon rolls I've ever had!!! I'm looking forward to trying out the rest of the menu for my next sweet tooth adventure. We gave this place a try yesterday - a Sunday - just two days after it opened. The line was really long, but at least it was all contained within the building, unlike on opening day. The rolls are expensive. You're looking at $5 for an absolutely plain roll, but more realistically expect it to be $6+ a roll. If you don't want a roll, I understand you can put your toppings on a banana instead, or atop some cookie dough in a cup. They also serve up brownies and cookies, too, as well as mini rolls, though a lot of this stuff was sold out by ~5pm. I went here with 5 other people, and we each ordered different things, so I had a wide sampling variety. I personally ordered one of the "limited time" specialty rolls, the creme brulee. I liked this roll very much, and IMO I was the "winner" of the group as far as who had the best roll. It was like a super enhanced version of a classic Cinnabon, with richer frosting and shaved almonds on top. My mom got the Old Skool vanilla, which was okay, but she preferred my roll to hers. Brother-in-law got cookie dough, and nothing but, and that was really good if you just want a scoop of cookie dough. Others in my group just got rolls with mixed and matched frosting and toppings as they desired. All were pretty good in their own way. My husband put fruit and jelly on his, so it reminded me more of a jelly donut. This place is vegan, which is nice, but just remember that vegan does not necessarily mean healthy! This IS a dessert place and everything is loaded with calories. I'm talking 700+ calories a roll, easy. FYI, they serve Intelligentsia coffee here, in case that is important to you. I should also mention there is basically nowhere to sit - I think there was like one small table tucked towards the restrooms in the back - so expect to take your roll(s) to go. Maybe they will be able to add more tables once the lines become shorter, but the place is pretty narrow so there isn't much space to work with as far as that goes. Once the lines die down this will be a much more enjoyable place to visit. However, it's a toss up for me if it is so much better than Cinnabon as to be worth the inflated cost. Obviously the menu is more extensive, so if you really prefer one of Cinnaholic's distinctive offerings to the classic Cinnabon roll, this will be the place for you. read more

First off, super friendly staff. Very patient, gave great suggestions, offered many samples, and helped make an awesome experience for our kids by giving them extra sprinkles and even played kid music in the store. The rolls are pricey, but to be expected for a 'gourmet' dessert. The concept is genius- have a good roll with different options of flavored frosting and different toppings. I got the Irish coffee and cream. The frosting was delicious and reminded me of Baileys. I do think there was too much chocolate and might have taken away from the Irish cream taste, but it was still good. My wife got the creme brûlée and enjoyed sliced almonds, raspberry jam, and pie crumbled on it. My son, with the help and suggestions of the employee, had one with marshmallow frosting and pieces of apples and caramel swirls to make a 'taffy apple' version which he enjoyed. read more

Oh man this one is hard to put down. We have been looking forward to this place opening for a while. We really like cinnamon rolls in our house. We came opening weekend and waited 25 minutes in line because we were so excited. They just aren't great. The roll itself was just soft and textureless. I want some crispness to the outside. The flavor was bland. And then they drown it in icing and it is kind of a sloppy mess. And it doesn't help that the icing was very, very grainy. The banana one was like wet sand in your mouth. My 7-year-old kid said she wanted to go to Cinnabon after tasting hers. The sign says gourmet cinnamon rolls. The problem is, I think that means they have a bunch of flavors or icing and a bunch of toppings. But when none of them taste great, is it really gourmet? And then there were the service problems. They were very busy and it is only their third day, so they have some excuse. But they had an example of a special called Raspberry Dream in the display near the register. And raspberries were a topping on the sign. So we ordered the special and another with raspberries and paid. Then after we waited for them to make ours with 30 people in line behind us, they told us they had no raspberries, and we had to make a quick decision on the spot how to replace them. Strawberries just didn't work out. But the worst thing was that we we sat down to eat, 2 of the rolls we ordered and paid for weren't in the bag. Hey 5 for the price of 7! We didn't bother to get a receipt because we didn't anticipate the problems. But to go back with such a long line, and not being that enthused about the product... I can't rave enough about this place. It's definitely one of my many go to spots for when I have a sweet tooth! The gourmet Cinnamon rolls are warm, fresh and ooey gooey just the way I like them! All of their products are fresh baked and 100% vegan, dairy & lactose-free, egg-free and cholesterol-free. Love Cinnaholic's traditional cinnamon or old skool roll with just plain vanilla frosting. You just can't go wrong with that! I love to top mine with fresh fruits! Also, love that you can create/build your own or choose from the many mouth watering created options. I had seen someone post about the grand opening in my LinkedIn feed so I thought I'd drop by and check it out. I was excited to try it--I mean who doesn't love a good cinnamon roll? Cinnaholic was apparently on Shark Tank. They promote that on their site and packaging, so I'm sure that provides a bit of hype. The employees were great and they had plenty of staff on hand to take and prepare your order. The line wasn't horribly long at 7 PM. I'd say there were maybe three people in front of me. I would recommend that if you're going to try this establishment, get it to go. The seating is very, very limited and mostly in a narrow area back towards the restrooms. There's so many options for frostings and toppings. I felt like I was at the Subway of cinnamon buns, when I really wanted the Jimmy John's version. I got a coffee frosted bun with peanut butter topping. It was just okay. While it was gourmet priced (I paid $6.44 for flavored frosting and one topping.), it wasn't really gourmet good. Here's my reasons: The bun didn't meet my expectations in that it was relatively small and had a denser texture to it. I can't pinpoint what it was, but it also had a slightly salty taste and I wasn't getting much cinnamon. The frosting was more of a glaze. It was really good for a coffee glaze, but it didn't look like the yummy professional photos the company provided to Yelp. The PB cups were good. Probably the most impressive part was that they carry Intelligentsia coffee! I smelled a great aroma of coffee brewing while waiting for my bun. Good call there, Cinnaholic! Bottom line, Chicagoland is filled with foodies who have a large variety of great gourmet food options. If you're going to call something gourmet, it better be gourmet good! This time it wasn't. I came here after trying Bonchon chicken, which is next-door. I decided to go with the spiced apple cobbler cinnamon roll. My fiancé and I both liked it, but we agreed I think some of the other flavors they had probably would have been better. Tried this for the first time and it was so good! Between the Cookie Monster and Ube delight, I would say the Ube one was my favorite. The Cookie Monster was great as well but a little to sweet for my taste. Things things are HUGE and 2 lasted me a whole week since I would work on it little by little. My son loves cinnamon buns. For his birthday, we thought we would try to support this business as it just opened before covid quarantine, and have never previously heard of it. Apparently, we were the last ones to know of this place. There was a line out the door across the plaza past the AT&T store in 28 degree weather. Gourmet and customizable cinnamon buns, so expect pricing to be as such. Quality of dough and toppings were excellent. Perfectly crispy edges with gooey layers. Most of the combinations were way too sweet for my palate and almost inedible to me, (S'mores & cookie dough) but my kids absolutely loved it and had the energy afterwards to prove its sugar levels. The fruity ones were more my palate- still very sweet, but more balanced. The service was very friendly, ordered online, and checked the box to receive texts when the order was ready. Never got a text, so when I showed up 2 hours later, and it sounded like they were waiting for me... probably a glitch. Nonetheless, very friendly and brought out my order. Overall, I'd go again as an occasional treat! Maybe get a coffee with it to balance some of the sweetness. read more

I first came to Cinnaholic with the sole purpose to compare it to Cinnabon... I thought, nothing can beat Cinnabon, BUT BOY WAS I WRONG. I'm so glad I went here the other day after seeing it on Yelp. I wanted to step out of my comfort zone, so I chose raspberry frosting with some fruit toppings. It tasted so good! I think toppings are $0.50 each so keep that in mind when adding them. I believe altogether the entire roll cost just a little over $7. When I called at 9:00am to order a party tray I needed for a meeting at 10:30am, I was hopeful, but not optimistic that it could be done. I would have had no ill feelings if my last minute unreasonable request couldn't be granted. But Elizabeth made it happen for me!! She created a beautiful tray and even gave me a fresh cookie for the road. To top it off, she wrote me a handwritten thank you note. I should have been giving HER the thank you card!! The tray was a hit and everything was SO GOOD!!!! But the exceptional service experience has left a mark on me that will last much, much longer than those delicious goodies! Would you believe me if I said I came here four times within a week?! If you don't then you need to do yourself a favor and just pay a visit to understand why I did. Unlike Cinnabon, the rolls here at Cinnaholic are so soft and doughy with a slight crisp. Too much crisp is not enjoyable for me. I have such a sweet tooth that I get the Cookie Monster roll each time. If you don't care for that much sweetness then you'd do just fine with the old school roll. Simple yet amazing. My husband, Mike, loves it. Mike has known one of the owners, Phil, for more than a decade. So it's nice for him to see a familiar face there. But even with the other employees we don't know, it's always nice to see them smiling and having fun. They've noticed how often we've been coming back that we feel like true cinnaholics. Its moist and sweet and melts in your mouth. You just have to get it . I got the Windy City and the lemon frosting is so perfect. The blueberries were such a delicious bit of freshness. I got a cream cheese "frosting" with strawberry jam. There was barely any jam and they got my name wrong. They wrote Ellen on my box? Not sure how that happened. Anyway, The cinnamon was extremely lacking too and it did not have a nice browning to it. Truly not worth the wait or money. Cool brandIng but I'd say, design the stores better, poor customer experiences will continue. Limit the amount of products you offer. This place I HIGHLY recommend! I was really curious how a 100% vegan, dairy-free, lactose-free, egg-free, and cholesterol-free cinnamon roll would turn out and I must say that it didn't seem too different to a regular one. Like all specialty places, I would usually pick just a plain/standard item off the menu to see how it holds up and just the roll with frosting was good enough. I then tried out the "Cookie Monster" roll and it probably might be my main one I would get every time I come here. SOOO many selections on the menu for custom orders along with cookies and a "Cinacake". The only thing I would say is I would probably wait for a few days or it's second week of opening to go if you wanna avoid the long lines due to the social media/shark tank hype. But other than that, I really recommend this place for those who are looking for a sweet treat. read more

I have came here multiple times since the opening, and each experience is a new flavor and has not disappointed. The service is phenomenal and they make you feel at home.
