Dee (she had a long name and said to call her D) is the most amazing bartender/sever I've ever experienced. Totally attentive, brought water with every order to make sure everyone was hydrated. ***5TH FLOOR OF HOTEL INDIGO*** I was staying over night at this hotel for business/leisure. This bar and light appetizers gave nice fancy vibes over looking some pretty areas of downtown El Paso. The service was a tad slow as it was only one bartender/server. The bartender (Hispanic man with a beard) was on top of it , not friendliest but helpful. I ordered a drink (I forgot the name), and their turkey club sandwiches. The drink was tasty along with the Sammy! I would have liked extra Mayo as it was a tad dry... but over all YUMMY. Look, if you're thinking about going to Circa 1963 don't be shocked that it's on the pricier end. This is a bar located inside a pretty dang swanky boutique hotel, obviously it's more geared towards the business professional (and if it's a weekend, the business professional that wants to let loose a little... but not too much). El Paso has been long overdue to get a bar like this... we have enough spots that are for the college kids and enough hole-in-the-walls. If you're going to Circa 1963 you have to know... yes, you can get cheaper drinks in many places, but that's not the kind of bar this is. And I gotta say... drink game STRONG! They have a happy hour menu that I've ordered off before (didn't actually get to try the drink because my better half stole it when I went to the bathroom) that has a wider range of cocktails with a few fruity options, but the last time we went we didn't make it to happy hour so after perusing the regular drink menu I decided to just go with my bar favorite, a cherry vodka sour. Not to say you couldn't order other cocktails or even the cocktails on the happy hour menu, it was just busy and I felt indecisive so I figured just go with what you know. My drink was upwards of $10, but was the strongest cherry vodka sour I've ever had Downtown (still don't understand why almost every bar in the Downtown area is so stingy with their alcohol). Yaaasss! I definitely wasn't mad at it. If you come here just for the bar, take some time to sit outside. The views are amazing and the pool is gorgeous. The music isn't played on speakers outside so you're just getting residuals from what's playing inside which is pretty nice when it gets too loud inside. We were there on a Friday and it was pretty bumpin' even when got their pretty early. They were carding when we arrived which is probably a good idea... thankfully no X's on any youngin's hands (like I said, just not that kind of bar). Really nice bar located in a very beautiful hotel. Great place to grab a drink with some friends, do some networking (depending on the day/time), or finish off a date night. I really like the atmosphere of Circa. Its a great place to go for happy hour and people watch young professionals and El Paso socialites (its ok, just embrace it. El Paso could use more of these). The drinks are solid if nothing memorable. The old fashioned had too much ice and their normal martini had shaved ice which I didn't particularly care for (but I imagine I could avoid that in the future). Can't go wrong if you stick with wine though. I've tried their highly touted pizza and thought it was ok but not overly impressive. The texture was off. It was too much dough not enough topping in my opinion. Anyways, I love the variety in seating. You want to enjoy the breezy el paso night air. Go outside and sit by the pool. Or sit outside in the side bar. Or one of the sofa chairs. The variety in décor is cool and offers a little something for everyone. Circa is a unique place in El Paso and I look forward to many more happy hours. I will note though that because the bar is so spread out, I think the servers can be over stretched and service can suffer because of it. I recommend going to the bar. read more

Iris, the bartender is one of those girls who could care less about customer service. She consistently but herself into conversations with my bartender as I was attempting to make orders. She was overtly rude to my friend when she didn't immediately respond to Iris. Iris asked "uh did she hear me" and pointed to my friend in an extremely rude fashion. The rest of the bartenders recognized her unprofessional attitude and because of them, they get 2 extra stars. If Iris was running the bar by herself, she'd be out of business in a week. I understand this isn't the Ritz Carlton, but I expect at least some form of respect when my friends and I are already overpaying for cocktails. Iris is unorganized and seems to try and push herself on every tab. She walks around the bar with an attitude and treats not only her colleagues but her guests with disrespect. Super cute hotel, but Iris leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Won't be back. read more

We have been here twice and both times the service is really good and the drinks are some of the best cocktails around , honestly it's a top notch spot and a must go too for el paso. The drinks are amazing the bartenders know what they are doin and it is an upscale place where they take their time on their drinks so you have to be ok with waiting for good quality service. The place is very nice the outside balcony is beautiful and the seating area around the pool is perfect for drinks on a nice night. Overall i think its one of el Paso's best spots and will endorse the hell outta this place because they do it right. read more

Beautiful space and nice selection of whiskey! Great use of indoor/outdoor space on the fifth floor of the Hotel Indigo. The bar's name, Circa 1963, pays homage to the mid-century roots of the space. The decor is a throw back, too. For me at least, the space is reason enough to pay a visit to Circa 1963. The bar service is hit or miss, depending on your server and bartender. During my last visit at 6:00 p.m. last Tuesday, I ordered the Whistlepig rye whiskey--same as my previous two visits. The server informed me they don't serve Whistlepig. I pointed out to the server there is a bottle of Whistlepig in the wire-mesh cabinet above the bar. On my previous two visits my server asked if I wanted my whiskey neat or on the rocks. It was poured over a large ice cube on my first visit and over a large ice ball on my second. Both are appropriate for a nice rye whiskey ordered on the rocks. This time; however, I ordered it on the rocks expecting the same, but it was served poured over small cubes which melted immediately and diluted a really fine whiskey. Disappointing. I'm not sure who was to blame, the server who was untrained or the bartender who should have known better. My first two visits to Circa 1963 were much better. The cheese plate was excellent. On a beautiful evening, Circa 1963 is a great place to be, even if your server may be untrained. After all, it's not a Michelin star restaurant. The space opens up to the north on a small outdoor sitting area that features a small kitchen with a pizza oven and view uptown. To the south the bar opens up onto a beautiful pool in the foreground and the art-deco Bassett Tower (soon to be the Aloft Hotel) in the background. There are peekaboo views of Cd. Juarez from some areas on the pool deck, which features a mid-century modern sculpture, water features and cabanas. On each of my three visits, the crowd was lively, consisting mostly of young professionals, bankers, and hotel guests. Overall, the Hotel Indigo and its bar seem like winners, but lack of attention to detail continue to detract. The process of reserving the private room ("boardroom") off the bar and setting up a corporate account for future events were somewhat clunky and frustrating. I think better training is needed in the sales department overall. Together with the poorly trained bar servers, I would chalk the small problems up to growing pains, so I'll continue to return with hopes that things progress for the better. read more

A friend and I were in the area and decided to give this place a try after hearing some positive things from friends a family. I'm not sure if we made the mistake of choosing to go on a Friday night, but it was without a doubt one of the worst bar experiences I've had in El Paso. If your kind of scene is a jam packed bar where everyone is dressed and acting like they're at the Tequila Derby in Juarez circa 2002, this is the place for you. Half the people there didn't even look like they should legally be there (and we never were once carded). They were bumping loud, obnoxious music, everyone was packed on the balcony area like a bunch of sardines, and the bartenders were about as awful as it gets. After waiting for over 25 minutes standing at the bar for just 2 bottled beers (which weren't the beers we ordered), we had enough. I could see this place being better on a weeknight when it likely isn't as packed and likely is more chill, but waiting 25 minutes for a couple of overpriced beers isn't worth it. Easily the most disappointing experience I've had in a long while. read more

If you're coming here expecting a great cocktail bar, you should look elsewhere. The ambience sets the tone for a classy lounge-bar. Music fills the bar and outdoor patio with deep house and get the vibe going, the pool is illuminated with a classic indigo hue, the burners showing a bar of fire. As you approach the bar, you expect a classic cocktail, but what you get is a subpar drink that you paid $3 more for than you could get at the nearest college bar. Crafted drinks like the Moscow Mule are served in regular glassware due to the ever apparent shortage of copper mugs is present (I get it, if you don't have the mug, you have to serve it how you can; but at least let your clients know before you mix the cocktails, not when you give them the drinks), and the signature cocktails lack pizzaz. A Mojito has almost no indication of mint, and the Zia Sun has an over spiced bite, as opposed to subtle jalapeño nuances. The bartenders admittedly did not know how to construct this drink. I would say that considering it's a hotel bar, I expect the prices to be hiked...but considering the ambiance, I also expect the quality of craftsmanship to match. If the bartenders and staff were properly trained, this place would have far better quality. The potential here as an El Paso hotspot is great, just get the bartenders on board with quality cocktail craftsmanship. read more

This place could really step it up in rehearse to there food and drink selection. When you have an ambiance such as this, it's a waste to have basic food options and drinks. Make some craft cocktails, have some delicious tapas.. you would have a full house! One of the places T has gotten me to go to that I would've never tried otherwise:a hotel bar. No, I'm not some pretentious jerk, it's just something that wouldn't cross my mind. This was a good place to do my toes in. It was very open and had a whole bunch of seating areas inside and out. My drink was good, and my mother enjoyed her Manhattan. There are two things that could've improved the evening. Firstly, they seemed to be both over and under staffed. People worked, but not who you needed. Also make sure the menu isn't completely reliant on the wood burning stove outside, especially in these coming windy months. I would've loved to have tried the pizza, but was unable to try them. this is a huge potential revenue loss. read more

If you are staying at Hotel Indio and this business is having a pool DJ party, you are not going to be able to sleep. If I could give the bar no stars I would. The view and ambiance could be nice but the service of the bar killed the vibe. One bartender said, "go to other side of the bar for drinks." While he serves others. Finally at the other side of the bar we get asked what we would like 24 minutes later. Not a busy night but not one of the busiest places I've been. They could make a lot of money if they could keep up with the demand. I hope they can turn it around, as it has a lot of potential. read more

The only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars is for the atmosphere. It has a nice modern feel. The pool area appeared inviting and clean. However, My husband and I sat in the private patio which would've been better complimented with misters, given the 100degree weather. My husband's ribeye was a poor cut. One of the worst steaks we've had. Service was mediocre at best. The server never offered us another beer, I had to ask for a refill of tea twice by waving him down. We had drinks and a pizza on Friday evening, 7-1-16. We've been a few times in hopes that the service will improve. We avoid chains and like to support local places. This place has a beautiful ambience and decent food and drinks. It has the potential to be a top notch bar. Unfortunately the service is absolutely horrendous. The bartenders are just plain rude. We sat down and the first bartender walked up and just looked at us, no "what can I get you", just stared at us. The second bartender forgot half of our drink order TWICE, and got into an argument with a cocktail waitress right in front of us.... TWICE! The management was a joke, they were standing around as all of this happened. One of the managers ordered a pizza and then sat down right in front of us and proceeded to stuff his face and scarf the whole thing down in 5 minutes. This place doesn't stand a chance until the staff get some serious customer service training. read more
