I came to El Paso with some friends on a girls weekend. We had spent the night before in Las Cruces and only did one night in El Paso but we stayed at the Plaza. When looking up hotels, this rooftop bar was an absolute seller. It's beautifully structured and has some really fun of views at night. The drinks are a little bit on the pricier side, but they were all really good. I enjoyed everything I tried including the off menu espresso martini was amazing. The service was stellar, they were really on top of everything and they even brought us all blankets because it was chilly outside. They have live music that was very good. Overall, I really enjoyed this rooftop bar and if I lived in the area, I would totally come just for drinks every once in a while, but it was also just very convenient having it at the hotel that we were staying at. read more

From the moment of we arrived and got checked in for our reservations everything seemed well. Once we got seated to our surprise the fire put near us was broken (it was chilly but we can manage) well, after bout 15 mins I had to ask where was my waiter. Our waiter finally attended us and everything started going uphill. She was able to switch us to a working firepit area which we were happy because we didn't mention it. The food was amazing , its small portions which gives you the chance to try multiple items. Everything we tried was so delicious and the drinks. You will not be disappointed and the view! From what I know it's the highest rooftop bar in El Paso. Order a drink or app or meal and you get to hand out with a view of the whole city. Unfortunately the bank blocks out the mountain star but it's a beautiful view regardless from all angles. Prices are upscale but drinks and food both taste amazing and the servers know their stuff and give great recommendations based on your tastes. There's a shaded area too before the sun starts setting so you don't have to roast to hang around outside. Love this place! read more

My wife and I found out about this place when we were researching places to go in El Paso. The hostess at the Ambar helped us secure some reservations for after 6 PM to watch the sun set. It was Christmas and there were decorations everywhere. The views were great and service was fantastic. We each got some drinks..mine was probably a bit sweeter than I liked, but the atmosphere made up for it. We wanted to sit in the larger terrace area, but it was pretty windy that night, we were shown to the side terrace which was not so windy and it was just right. read more

Came here last night to enjoy some pre-dinner cocktails with my girlfriends and had an amazing time! The current Yelp ratings are NOT reflective of the quality of anything at La Perla anymore. The views from the rooftop are spectacular and it is such a cute, fancy place. The service was great and very attentive. Even though they got busier towards the end of our visit, we were still very well attended to. They also have snacks which we didn't indulge in but looked really yummy. They also had live music towards later hours of the evening, and it wasn't loud and interruptive of our conversation at all. Overall a really sweet place to enjoy great views and have yummy drinks with good service. Will definitely be back! read more

I have absolutely no idea what all the equivocal reviews about this place are talking about. Came 6:30p on Saturday with reservation. Service was excellent! Food was absolutely fantastic. We had a selection of the menu and the guacamole, the caso dip and the wings were all very good. The sliders and the pork tacos were amazing and I will come back specifically for them. The drinks were excellent, we had both menu cocktails and a few classic preprohibition cocktails and all were excellent. Great views. Terrible management. It is a bar not a restaurant. Cheese plate took 2 hrs to arrive. Tortillas pull from the refrigerator and straight to the plate, cold food. We had to send the food back to be placed on the microwave. Definitely a place to go for drinks only. read more

The scenic views are great! If you can get here before sunset, I recommend it. The sunset view is gorgeous from the rooftop! The cocktails were ok. We tried a few different ones. Unfortunately, we weren't able to order food because they didn't have a chef available. We were told the minimum for a group of 8 was $300. The bathrooms are on a different floor. So you need to take the elevator or stairs. It's a little inconvenient, but it's not a huge deal. It's worth the price to see the views. I give it a solid 3 & 1/2 stars. read more

After dinner at ÁmBar, we went to La Perla and enjoyed cocktails on the rooftop lounge (17th floor). It was a nice night and there were a number of comfortable seating areas. There wasn't table service. We ordered drinks at the bar inside and they were brought out to us. The views of the city and the sun setting over the mountains were beautiful! The cocktails were good. There was music playing, but it t wasn't music we enjoyed. I asked if there was a cocktail menu and was told they didn't, but they were working on one. I love a good cocktail menu and was a bit disappointed there wasn't one when there was such a good one downstairs at the restaurant. read more

What a fabulous El Paso evening! The view is as stunning as they proclaim and the decor and gardens make you feel like Elizabeth Taylor herself. We didn't realize it was just snacks, since they don't have an actual menu on their website. And you really can't fill up and call it dinner, but we sure enjoyed the food we did have! The marinated crab claws were so good that we didn't mind being the people spooning out the sauce well after the crab was gone. The shrimp (head on) were delicious. We also ordered the caviar sandwich. It was meh and wayyyyvover priced, not worth it at all. There was no delicious, creamy, brine-y caviar. It was a bit flat and very pricey. But over all, the food was inventive, fresh, delicious and not something you can just get anywhere. The drinks were fun and a much needed refreshment on a hot day. The service, from greeter to server, was spot on, even as a newish restaurant (who opened in the worst time--pandemic). As time goes on, they will be as flawless as their view. read more

La Perla features superb drinks by professional, no nonsense bartenders (while they aren't working with the almost preposterous array of liquors you'll find downstairs at Ambar, they will deliver a fantastic experience with what they have). Very limited food menu but the carnitas taco I had at La Perla was the biggest, meatiest and most delicious smoky carnitas taco I've had in my life (and also the most expensive - but it was totally worth it - um, I hesitate to make a comparison to another place, but it absolutely BLEW AWAY the carnitas taco I had at a nearby specialized shi-shi taco place (you know which one I mean) the following night). Yum - my mouth's watering just remembering it. La Perla is popular: you'll want to make reservations. I had real difficulty making reservations by phone: long waits and a disconnection, then when I checked in person on my reservation the day before, I found it hadn't been made at all. Open Table can make you a reservation (that's what I'd do next time) but I wound up just making a reservation in person for the following night. And our reservation was for a specific area - and that area was NOT reserved for us when we showed up - someone else was there already. Okay, everyone was mellow and everything worked out and we got seated temporarily and eventually got re-seated and settled where we had wanted to be. But our reservation experience was NOT what I'd hoped. As to the space, La Perla is worth your time: smaller and interesting with a few separate areas - a large outside area and also a smaller outside area with firepits and then some inside space. All manner of pillows and blankets for the outside spaces, too (ask, they're stored when not in use). The views are not as good as the views across the street at the more expansive rooftop outside El Mirador bar atop Hotel Paso del Norte - but the _vibe_ at La Perla isn't the corporate business-slash-wedding-in-a-pretty-space feeling at Mirador. It's also not the nice-party-at-the-pool vibe of Level 9 up the street at Hotel Indigo. La Perla is more personal and more exclusive feeling than either of these - it's not necessarily better than the others, just calmer, maybe a little more mature: "You've arrived. You don't need all that nonsense. Have a drink and enjoy the company." (And, if your experience is like ours, you'll find that the other patrons at La Perla are pleasant company.) This hotel rooftop bar is not taking advantage of how incredible their location and setup is. To get this out of the way, I go here frequently, but almost entirely because of it's unique location. There's nothing even remotely like this rooftop anywhere in the country: it's beautiful, old, and has views for miles. You can see into Mexico, out into West Texas, and along the Franklin Mountain's ridge line. But their bar setup, service decisions, and general treatment of the space are questionable at best. For starters, they require reservations, when basically no one is ever up there. I've been there when there's five other people total at the bar and the hostess was demanding reservations from guests. The bar drink selection is also shitty. I'm at (what's billed as) a swanky rooftop bar, why do I want a Mich Ultra? What's the drink selection process here? There's barely any highend alcohol to choose from. So it's cocktails or nothing. Its also bar service only, which is alright sometimes, but some sort of wait staff for tables would elecate this place significantly. That said, the bartenders are both fantastic and this is my go to spot for a view and a sip. read more

Absolutely terrible service, the hostess made me and my family feel like criminals because we didn't "make a large party reservation with a $200 minimum" because THEY didn't answer the phone so we all made individual smaller reservations and would've easily spent over $500 as a group. The hostess was some teenager on a gatekeeping power trip and threatened to "call security on us" because we asked to speak to her manager. La Perla is a swanky rooftop bar at the top of the Plaza Hotel. It is massive and has 360 views of the city. It's also beautifully appointed with classy ambiance and plenty of room for hundreds of people to gather. My family and I visited on a Saturday evening for sunset and were surprised to hear a reservation was required to even go up to see it. The hostess downstairs made us one quickly. There were probably 10 people upstairs, so the reservation system is completely unnecessary and should be terminated. We enjoyed the amazing views with some strong drinks and decent appetizers. I can see how for El Paso this might be overpriced but this place is so classy and special for the city we didn't mind paying a little extra. Had date night there. Roof top ambiance on an iconic historical building in the heart of El Paso can't be beat. Drinks were priced as expected although our bartender needed a bit more practice, his partner was on point. He was knowledgeable on a vast number of spirits, and recommended several to taste. Really bad service. We made a reservation for 4 to have drinks and appetizers. We knew about the 150.00 minimum tab and were ok with it. We were met by rude person as soon as we got out of elevator pretty much saying they were by reservation only. I advised we had a reservation, which was no point in having as they did not hold a space for the four of us. They put us on a side room which looked like where they keep left over furniture. We ordered drinks waiting for an area by the terrace and I had to go remind them about our drinks even. Felt really uncomfortable like the bartenders and waiters were primary catering to the white customers even though we were there to spend money. So very disappointed with this place. Went there a week ago with girlfriends abd had a good time. So I decided to return for a second round of fun but with my family and two more family members that came in from Chicago to see us. To get treated badly from hosting staff (3 female workers that literally rejected us) even though we did a reservation. My reservation was for 4 ppl and we brought two more (Which we're my guests from Chicago) the hosts said they couldn't seat us because there was no room. Ok we understood that part but then when I lool towards another door that faces another section of the venue, there were empty tables and chairs. i asked one lady if we can sit where it was empty, she said they were still thinking about opening that section. WOW, my mind was blown away with the bad customer service and even attitude we received by the hosting staff. They gave us attitude just because we pushed a little (maybe even begged a little at one point) for a Seat. How embarrassing! Then one Of the other ladies said we just can't sit you in that section it's reserved already. I was like "how is it reserved if she just said your all still thinking of opening that section? Bad bad bad bad service. What a shame because it has exceptional views/ I was really saddened about it all but we then searched for another roof too restaurant and by grace we found availability at the other hotel paseo del norte, and with out making weeks ahead RESERVATION!! mid I could give this place no star for their crappy customer service, I would! read more
