At Books & Brews!

I gave up beer in the month of September, and when I had to meet up with folks at Indy breweries, I substituted the beer for a bottle of Circle City Kombucha. I was really, really pleased with the flavors--especially the Tiki Tango and Pomegranate--and my stomach was too. As long as Circle City Kombucha is on the menu, I'll be ordering it!

Love being able to support a local business and get a really quality product at the same time. I picked up a case of pomegranate kombucha this morning and it was super quick and easy. I pulled into a parking spot and was greeted right away. They had my order ready and brought out to my car. The prices are comparable to "big time" kombucha makers, and even cheaper when buying in bulk. It's a win win! I like the variety of flavors and the fact that they're not overly sweet. Looking forward to trying the Concord grape flavor next time.

I thought I liked Kombucha until I tried Circle City Kombucha now I'm hooked on Kombucha. This "booch" (*thanks for the term Brady*) is delicious! I appreciate that it tastes more like a lightly carbonated soft drink rather then a vinegary fermented beverage. The best part is that it's good for you and provides a little caffeine boost. The boost is right around the caffeine kick you would get from green tea so it's not as strong as coffee but enough to get you over that 3:00pm slump without the jitters. Ginger & the grapefruit varieties are currently my jam. I would love to see Kombucha on tap in more places around town. In other cities/states I have seen Kombucha on tap at local breweries as a staple. I think this booch specifically would make a great addition to the local bar scene. Thinking Kombucha cocktails would make a great splash and refreshing change on menus. Think Spring/Summer sippin' 'to good health": Pomegranate with fresh mint & whiskey & Kombucha Sangria - Cheers! Pick yours up at Coat Check Coffee, Scarlet Lane Brewery, Bites by Confectioneiress, Goose the Market, R2GO, Pogue's Run, Tyner Pond Market and other locations around Indy. Hopefully coming to Fishers soon.....fingers crossed!

I was introduced to Circle City Kombucha through the Yelp Event at Coat Check Coffee this past weekend. I am so happy about it! Not only is Circle City Kombucha made in Indianapolis, and made from their own blend of teas and all natural ingredients, but it is seriously the BEST tasting kombucha I've ever had. And that is saying a lot because I really do like kombucha. They refer to their product as "feel good soda" and it's so true. It's smooth and so much less vinegar-y than most commercial kombuchas. I highly recommend the Blueberry and the Ginger flavors!!! I was also lucky enough to meet the owners/creators behind CCK and it feels so much better to know how passionate and attentive the people behind a product are. I cant say enough good things! If you want to know where you can purchase some feel good soda, you can check out their website circlecitykombucha.com for a map. But I can tell you for sure that Coat Check Coffee and Pogues Run carry them! You can also have them delivered right to your home via farmersmarket.com ps: their current line of flavors: Pomegranate Blueberry Ginger Cherry Grapefruit Apple Peach Blossom

You can purchase kombucha in many stores around the city

If you're looking for a local alternative to alcohol or soda, then Circle City Kombucha is a great option! I love that their unique flavors are widely available at vendors around the city and also at local farmers markets. You can even fill a growler of on tap kombucha at Needlers Market downtown. They have great flavors like peach mango and in the fall harvest apple was one of my favorites! I personally don't love soda but I like the carbonation and kombucha provides that while being really great for you. Circle City Kombucha puts a lot of pride into their product and it definitely shows.

I discovered three more product categories that can be used for non-alcoholic home concoctions:…read more 1. Flavored syrups and fruit concentrates. Dilute and pour on your shaved/crushed ice or ice cream. Or use instead of the more expensive smaller size flavorings with your Soda Stream carbonated beverage maker, (that thing that injects CO2 in your water to make soda.) 2.Malted (not roasted) barley and wheat, for adding to whole wheat flour for a better rise. White flour (all-purpose flour and bread flour) has malted barley flour added, which has enzymes that break down starch into the glucose/sugar that yeast can use. Whole wheat flour has little to no malted barley/wheat added. Be careful because adding too much malt powder to dough breaks down too much starch. Check recipes before use. GF will crush malt, but not grind it sufficiently for dough use. I use a coffee/spice grinder to turn the malted grains into powder/flour. 3. Dried malt extract, aka malt sugar. This usually consists of three types of sugars: glucose/dextrose, maltose, and maltotriose. Use for making old-fashioned "malted" milkshakes. Good for adding to hot breakfast cereals, too. I use a little in bread-making. (See my previous review about corn sugar/glucose/dextrose.)

This was a place reasonably close to downtown that had a vegan version on the menu. Like I said, GF and I love breweries so we took a good long look at the draught menu. There were multiple things that caught my attention but I settled on the champagne velvet because I like champagne and I like velvet and I have to agree with whoever named this shit. It is incredibly smooth. It was a very nice companion to our meal. GF ordered the sour peach which was also enjoyable. They both came in their own little glasses which was too cute. The vegan tenderloin was a given. The server asked me if I wanted fries, something that, in my experience, typically comes automatically. I'm glad it didnt' though because we had a lot to eat and gastric space was really a premium. He seemed to be taken aback by my declination and even further disturbed when GF ordered the Brussels sprouts as her meal. He literally had another server see us after we placed this order lmao. Probably nothing to do with it. But you never know. The seitanderloin sandwich didn't have the same apperaance (supposed to be bigger than the bun is my understanding but I am a foreigner to hoosier culture so what do I know) but it was INCREDIBLE. One of the best sandwiches I have ever had. The seitanderloin was thiccc and that fucking sauce is absolute crack. Out of this fucking world. GF agreed and she doesn't usually aggressively love something that much. The Brussels sprouts were also very good. A sweet sauce with Asian flare and a nice combo of textures with both the peanuts and the wonton strips. GF noted that a few more tbsp of those wonton strips would have really taken this over the edge. Service was great as well. Many many vegan options which I really appreciated. Can't go wrong here. Update upon reviewing the menu again online (not to order more seitanderloin for delivery after going out to dinner on our last night in Indy or anything) and's per the photos on Uber Eats they actually gave me what I think is the hot Nashville seitan sandwich instead. Ugh. Disappointing
