The Craft Brewers Conference in Indianapolis this year brought me to a few different breweries (mostly for the after-conference events). But one that I made sure to stop by on my first day outside of the actual events was Metazoa. I hadn't heard much about them, but saw them as an option to pick up the commemorative beer and decided to give them a shot. I was excited (so much so that I sent pictures to MANY people) that they are super dog friendly. To the point that most of their beer names are dog / animal adjacent. They also have a pet of the month, which is just absolutely adorable. I enjoyed a flight of their beers while I waited for the first day's event. Metazoa is such a fun spot for dog owners! I'd definitely recommend bringing your pup as long as they're comfortable being around other dogs. Mine can get a little anxious with close proximity, so we hung back and dog-watched from afar, and they did totally fine. We came on a weekend so there were a lot of pups to see! They were welcome inside too, which was great while my friend and I played games, tried a couple beers on tap, and ordered a flight. I'm not a huge beer drinker, so I'm not sure I'd come back for that reason alone, but I always love a good pup-friendly place :)

Discovered Metazoa after having a Puppy Slumber party draft beer at Broad Ripple Tavern. This is a good stout. So finally was able to check out their brewery. Really nice location with parking spots. If you love dogs. you're going to love this place. Ambience is chill. Service at the bar is great. You just have to check your tabs as they mistakenly added a drink that I didn't order but once pointed out, they were able to resolve the issue without hassle. The only downside here is there's not much food option if you're hungry. Other than that, a great place for drinks and to hang out with man's bestfriend.

I am with a nationwide rescue. All the dog parks in Indianapolis need certified to get in. We were picking up 2 Irish Wolfhound puppies and 1 Older female. We just needed a spot to potty break and to exchange them. I live in Missouri the rescues were from 2 different states. You know the saying "it takes a village". Metazoa was a part of our village today. They provided a clean environment and great atmosphere for the exchange. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Great beer too! Every thing about Metazoa is for helping animals!!

We love that this place is very very dog friendly, they don't sell any food but you're allowed to bring some or get something delivered, sometimes they also have a food truck outside We love Wednesday bingo nights here, you can play bingo for free and get prizes while you enjoy their beers, they have extensive beers on tap. And some profits go to an animal related organization The place has a big bar area but also a lot of chairs and tables for everyone, it's clean and bartenders are very friendly. They also have a dog park for your dogs in the area, not a big parking lot but I never not find a spot yet

Service is outstanding. We had the peanut butter stout and trash panda. Both are so delicious. Ambiance is perfect. Super dog/any animal friendly. There's a dog park and events for your pets. No kids allowed and it's 21+ up only. They accommodate to the community and their pets. Definitely my husband and I will be back.

Metazoa has lovely brews, great staff, and friendly customers. What could make that better you may ask? You can bring your dog! This is my favorite place to bring my pup. Having a dog park brings Metazoa far ahead of other dog friendly establishments. They donate money to help pets from the beer you purchase! Drink beer for a good cause while you and your furry friend have a great time :) Frequently they host events as well as food trucks with great food.

We love Metazoa & our dogs love it more! Their beer selection is phenomenal. We love that we can enjoy a beer and the dog park in our trip. Special shout out to trash panda! The regulars are so nice and welcoming which you don't get at some bars. They do not offer food as they allow you to bring your animals inside but there is usually a food truck out back! Lots of seating out in the dog park & inside for whatever you're in the mood for. The dog park isn't huge by any means but it's perfect for your pup to get some exercise & socialize with others while you're still able to keep a close eye on them. The dog park is free and you can stay as long as you'd like.

One of my friends mentioned going to the Disney Trivia here not long ago. Sure! Sign me up! Well, I knew parking was going to be tricky. The parking lot is small and people were parking in places that weren't even parking spots which made it hard to leave. I found a spot and when you walk in you have a nice view of the dog park and the skyline. When you head inside you see games you can take and play at the table. Having coming from work and the others in our group that hadn't had dinner either we thought maybe they would have some food trucks. Well, they had one. It was a vegetarian one. Not that that's bad that wasn't what we all wanted. They don't serve any food inside which is a real bummer. So, we had to figure out that it would be easier for one of us go pick up our food versus pay the ridiculous prices for delivery! That is a major drawback to this place not serving food inside. Oh, and it's 21+ also so keep that in mind. Being that 3 out of the 4 of us are not big beer drinkers it was hard to find something to drink also. We chose some hard seltzer drink I can't remember the name of it It was pink and good. For the interior lots of tables and lots of people with their dogs. They give 5% back to animals and wildlife organizations. Which is good! I didn't really know what was going on in the area behind us. Dogs were standing on the tables and it seemed like a free for all. I didn't like that if you're going to come and eat at that table you've had dogs walking all over it. For the Disney trivia a couple of the questions were sounds you had to listen to and that was really hard to hear over everyone talking. The questions some were easy most of them were pretty hard. You needed to have watched a lot of the newer movies. :-/ Overall, it's ok. If they had more options on things to eat and drink it might be better. I don't know that's about all I can say for Metazoa.

This is heaven for any pet lover! At any point, you are greeted by one or dozens of happy, excited faces - and that's just the staff. But really, they are all friendly and happy to help you figure out what you want to drink. There are always plenty of wagging tails happy for a pet. There is also a park outside if your furry friend needs to get some zoomies out while you enjoy your drink or any of the food trucks that sit outside. Free bingo and trivia nights are also a good excuse to get friends together and win free drinks at the same time.

We recently tried all the new winter seasonals from Metazoa and were pleasantly surprised with their flavors and selection. My favorite was the Trash Panda, a vanilla latte inspired blonde ale, and Baxter's favorite was Santa Paws, a holiday spiced milk stout. We love that they allow dogs and animal welfare is their mission. I'll tell ya what, they have the best bbq truck in all of Indy permanently parked in their lot - Old Gold. YUM!

We love coming to Metazoa. The service and ambiance are great! Friendly staff, you get to know the dog's parents and my fur babies can socialize and enjoy their time. Would recommend it for any dog parents that would want to relax and still enjoy their time.

How large is the dog portion?

    What's the parking situation like?

Metazoa has its own parking lot but it is small. There is a parking garage next door to metazoa. Either way, you should be able to find parking available. You can park on the street as well.

Food/menu? And apparently my question is supposed to be longer...

They don't have a menu, but sometimes have a food truck (event depending). They allow you to bring in food or have food delivered. Last time I went they had a coupon for some food delivery company

Can kiddos go out in the patio when it is open during the summer?

I have seen kids out there. I don't think they serve alcohol on the patio so kids should be allowed.

Can we bring human kids here?

    No, it's 21+.

I love this place. Have you guys considered karaoke?

We got there early and were able to have some drinks and food, including the nachos. Man, I was not expecting BBQ sauce and like a mustardy sauce and cheese and it was flavor exploding, loved it. With the event we had catered pork/chicken as well as sides. Everything was great, the peppercorn dressing for the salad was so amazing, I would definitely think of a salad here in the future. The venue inside the space, with the car, is quaint with seating and you get to see everything happening outside the space as well. This last time, we were in the original Guggman Haus brewing building that houses the coffee. This is adorable! We had service the entire time, including a bartender and the beer. They made everything super easy and I would consider this space for a baby shower, bridal shower, etc. We had 25 people and it fit wonderfully. There is also outside space for overflow, so it makes it very reasonable. Now onto the beer! I had the IPA Riverside, very hazy with a great flavor. Then I went off the rocker and ordered some prickly pear drink, I was not expecting how good that was! Refreshing and light, easy to drink (probably too easy) and the flavor was perfect! Try it if you are there, it is a newer option. PROS: Parking easy, street and lot Many open spaces and areas to rent Games are included, so eat, drink and enjoy company They have trivia nights, woohoo CONS: Sometimes the food is not always a hit, nothing to state specifically today, but I recall in the past saying to myself, don't order that again. So, try everything and find what you like. The place is great and the beer/food options are good, so you will find something you like.

The Brussels sprouts are an absolute triumph: perfectly blistered with a caramelized exterior and tender interior, dressed in a harmonious balance of bright acidity and savory depth. The Korean salmon is equally impressive. The fish arrives flaky and moist with a richly glazed crust that carries sweet, spicy, and umami notes in perfect proportion. During my recent visit, kids were freely throwing footballs and baseballs around crowded tables where people were trying to eat, drink, and relax. One overthrown baseball nearly hit one of my dogs. I fully support family-friendly spaces, but the patio should still feel safe and enjoyable for everyone. Allowing ball throwing in a packed dining area creates unnecessary safety risks for guests, servers, and pets. A simple rule against throwing footballs/baseballs in the seating area -- or designating a separate play space -- would make a huge difference and help preserve the relaxed brewery environment many customers come for.
