    Seitan-derloin Sandwich
    Rebecca H.

We love breweries but we came here because even though I am a vegetarian, I still want to try the local delicacies and I have been chomping at the bit to try a tenderloin sandwich ever since I learned of its existence during my trip research. This was a place reasonably close to downtown that had a vegan version on the menu. Like I said, GF and I love breweries so we took a good long look at the draught menu. There were multiple things that caught my attention but I settled on the champagne velvet because I like champagne and I like velvet and I have to agree with whoever named this shit. It is incredibly smooth. It was a very nice companion to our meal. GF ordered the sour peach which was also enjoyable. They both came in their own little glasses which was too cute. The vegan tenderloin was a given. The server asked me if I wanted fries, something that, in my experience, typically comes automatically. I'm glad it didnt' though because we had a lot to eat and gastric space was really a premium. He seemed to be taken aback by my declination and even further disturbed when GF ordered the Brussels sprouts as her meal. He literally had another server see us after we placed this order lmao. Probably nothing to do with it. But you never know. The seitanderloin sandwich didn't have the same apperaance (supposed to be bigger than the bun is my understanding but I am a foreigner to hoosier culture so what do I know) but it was INCREDIBLE. One of the best sandwiches I have ever had. The seitanderloin was thiccc and that fucking sauce is absolute crack. Out of this fucking world. GF agreed and she doesn't usually aggressively love something that much. The Brussels sprouts were also very good. A sweet sauce with Asian flare and a nice combo of textures with both the peanuts and the wonton strips. GF noted that a few more tbsp of those wonton strips would have really taken this over the edge. Service was great as well. Many many vegan options which I really appreciated. Can't go wrong here. Update upon reviewing the menu again online (not to order more seitanderloin for delivery after going out to dinner on our last night in Indy or anything) and's per the photos on Uber Eats they actually gave me what I think is the hot Nashville seitan sandwich instead. Ugh. Disappointing

    Turkey & Guac Sandwich

The menu is large so there's an option for everyone, but I was a little let down from a quality perspective this time. We hadn't been in about 3-4 years, so we decided to return when we were visiting for the Indy 500. The Turkey Guac sammy was poorly constructed and lacked flavor. Felt like whoever assembled it could care less. The chips were good homemade chips. The pork rinds were pretty good. The other two at my table felt similar about their entrees, just okay. Service was rather absent for us too, despite very little crowd. I'm giving it a 4, because the first trip years ago was great but I wasn't yelping at that time. This trip was a 3/5.

Yum!!! This place is delicious!!! I was delighted by the fish and chips here. It was so crispy and flaky! The fries were also so crispy and flavorful. The tartar sauce was a major win as well - I don't always agree with it but it almost tasted more like an aioli! I've tried the mac and cheese here as well and it is heavenly. As a non-drinker, I'm always happy to go to Upland for the food options! Our service was a little slow but it was busy, so I'll cut them some slack!

I've been to this location a few times. The food is usually pretty decent, but the service could definitely improve. It always seems to take a long time for food to come out, no matter how busy or empty it is. Today's lunch visit was especially disappointing. When my burger was brought out, I was asked if I wanted any other condiments. I asked for ranch, but it never came. My soda was empty for my entire meal, and no one stopped by to check on us for refills or to bring the ranch. Not a huge deal, but annoying for sure. I ordered my burger medium well, but the inside was very pink. Since no one came by to check on our table, I ate what I could because I was hungry, but ended up feeling nauseous (I really don't like any pink meat, hence why I order medium well). I took a photo of what I ended up not eating. When we paid, I mentioned the undercooked burger, and the response was basically, "I thought I said medium well, that looks like medium rare," before asking for my debit card. I wasn't expecting a discount, but I did expect more than an "oops." We had talked about grabbing a few six-packs to go for upcoming holiday parties, but decided not to because of the experience today. I'm sure we will be back at some point because it's in the neighborhood, but it will be awhile. For those who don't like undercooked meat, I would probably avoid burgers here, and not expect the best service.

Upland has some of the best beer I've ever had, and the food is amazing as well. I got a burger and it was soooo flavorful and the fries were great as well. The beer specials were great ($4 daily selections) and the upland wheat just can't be beat. Great service, nice dining area, and reasonable prices. Highly recommend!

I absolutely loved my visit to Upland Brewing in Fountain Square! We visited on a Thursday night and it was still very lively! They had guests both inside and in the outside patio. The outside patio is also dog friendly which is a HUGE plus. Our server even gave our puppy a water bowl, which was so sweet. As for the drinks, we ordered the flight and it was so great to try the different options. My favorite was the porter. I also had the Thursday which is their sour series & I had the Two of Tarts. It was refreshing and the perfect amount of tartness. We also had the chicharrones, which paired well with the beer. It was served fresh and you can tell they had just prepared it. It was still sizzling by the time it came to our table. I loved the seasoning it had and with the hit of lime, it was perfect. I'm excited to come again in the future!

We just stopped in for an afternoon drink and to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine for the last day of August. He ordered the lemon blonde and I the raspberry bloom. Both good in their own way. We didn't know they had food otherwise we probably would have gotten a snack but we had one before we got there. Maybe next time. 4 stars for the good vibe, the outdoor area, drinks, and staff. I'm sure it would be a solid 5 had we gotten food. All good, definitely coming back sometime.

We had Upland Fountain Square host and cater my daughter's graduation party. Bailey and team did an amazing job. The food was delicious, and everyone told me how good everything was. Thanks for allowing us to host a great party!

Upland Brewing in Fountain Square has been our best experience at an Upland Brewing! The staff has been so fun and attentive, the food is good, and the beers 10/10. One of the best outdoor areas in downtown Indy!!! Jude was amazing and made our experience that much better.

The food was not decent. I like that they had vegan options. As far as vegan food goes not bad, but it could be improved (sandwich was a little dry. Perhaps they could've made a vegan coleslaw for it). I like that they had a non-alcoholic beer as well. If you're looking for a brewery/pub type vibe and offerings, definitely give it a try. Service unfortunately could've been better. Waited a long time for food and never received the side of barbecue that I requested. I understand that my server might've been new as someone else came over to apologize. but still not ideal.

We've been to Upland brewing Company, many times both the ones in Broad Ripple fountain Square and downtown Columbus, Indiana all of them are unique in their own way the one in fountain Square is light airy you can sit outside. The food is absolutely delicious. The picture I took is one of their premier beers and I mean, they have beers and sours. The service is tremendous the little girl that waited on us provided the table with guidance on beer, selection and many samples, I would highly recommend this place if you want to kick back drink some beer and eat some tremendous food. My personal favorite is the Nashville hot chicken or the nachos can't go wrong with either one

It's nice to visit Indy and see Fountain Square all growed up with awesome local spots along the main stretch. I've always been a fan of Upland - they're one of the Indiana craft beer OGs, so I was pleasantly surprised to see them in the restaurant space. My brother and his coworkers have an office space nearby and this place has become a staple in their lunch rotation. With mine/my mom's visit it was nice to lunch there after checking out the office. Due to our group size, we were directed to the outside patio for one of the large tables (why not, it was nice/cool for us Zonies). But ignored for about 10-15 minutes! Such a bummer to start lunch off- it was like pulling teeth to get someone to acknowledge us, take drink/food orders, etc until my brother went up to the bar. The beers in my flight were fine. Nothing crazy/experimental was on tap so I stuck to light otions. It was a bit of a disappointment I couldn't get the Pacers beer on tap, but the Hoosier one was nice. The only one I really disliked was the Two Tart (still trying to acclimate to Goses). And Holy Sandwich -- the Tendys in Indy indeed are still the size of my face (or bigger). Definitely hit the spot, complemented by crispy fries and a umami aoli. If I still lived in the area I def would make this a regular hangout spot for me and my friends.

We got there early and were able to have some drinks and food, including the nachos. Man, I was not expecting BBQ sauce and like a mustardy sauce and cheese and it was flavor exploding, loved it. With the event we had catered pork/chicken as well as sides. Everything was great, the peppercorn dressing for the salad was so amazing, I would definitely think of a salad here in the future. The venue inside the space, with the car, is quaint with seating and you get to see everything happening outside the space as well. This last time, we were in the original Guggman Haus brewing building that houses the coffee. This is adorable! We had service the entire time, including a bartender and the beer. They made everything super easy and I would consider this space for a baby shower, bridal shower, etc. We had 25 people and it fit wonderfully. There is also outside space for overflow, so it makes it very reasonable. Now onto the beer! I had the IPA Riverside, very hazy with a great flavor. Then I went off the rocker and ordered some prickly pear drink, I was not expecting how good that was! Refreshing and light, easy to drink (probably too easy) and the flavor was perfect! Try it if you are there, it is a newer option. PROS: Parking easy, street and lot Many open spaces and areas to rent Games are included, so eat, drink and enjoy company They have trivia nights, woohoo CONS: Sometimes the food is not always a hit, nothing to state specifically today, but I recall in the past saying to myself, don't order that again. She walked us through the beer flights, made some great recommendations, and never made us feel rushed. The flights were also surprisingly affordable, which made trying a few different brews an easy decision. For lunch, I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with fries, while my friend went with the Italian sandwich. Both plates were generously portioned, and neither of us left hungry. The pulled pork was tender, flavorful, and piled high on the sandwich, while the fries were perfectly crispy alongside it. We sat right in the middle of the main thoroughfare and were completely ignored for at least 15 minutes before we finally flagged someone down. The guy, "H," apologized and said, "Oh, my bad--it's all good." We figured, no big deal, let's move on. We ordered pretty simple food, apps and were then going to put in some entrees once apps arrived. We asked for waters and a water bowl for our pups. He brought two waters--with no straws--and no dog bowl. We assumed he was going to grab the bowl, so we waited... and waited. Then I noticed him at the end of the bar leaning against some boxes, texting. So I finally got up, interrupted him and asked for the dog bowl. His response, "oh my bad." Our appetizers came out, and naturally, we asked for silverware. A few minutes later, I spotted "H" in the corner on his phone again. At that point I was thinking, seriously?! So I got up again, interrupted "H's" text convo and asked for silverware. His response again was, "Oh, my bad." I didn't respond to him I just turned around and went back to my seat. Honestly, the whole experience started feeling more like a self-serve restaurant than table service. It's a chill spot and we weren't being needy whatsoever. We never asked for any refills- we were merely asking for the basics. We wanted to order more food, but by that point we were pretty turned off and decided to just get the check. Then came the final straw: my guy had his license and credit card sitting on the table because he hadn't brought his wallet out for our monon trek. When "H" came back with the checkout thing, without question or hesitation - he grabbed the card and swiped it. We didn't even realize what happened until afterward. Maybe that's standard there, but I've never had a server just take my card without asking. Usually you get a "hey do we want to use this card? Or something to confirm. And of course the tip structure is skewed so the min is 20% unless you want to try to figure out to manually enter in 15% (which most ppl don't -incl my guy), so we left 20% and left irritated and still hungry. "H" didn't seem hungover or anything--he just genuinely seemed like he did not not give a shiiiit. We had to get up three separate times to get things we had already requested: the dog bowl, a couple straws, and silverware. (Basics) And a quick note on the 7-Layer Hoss Dip: don't expect seven layers. It comes in a small thick ceramic bowl and was basically beans, guacamole, a tiny bit of corn and some hard cheese on top. Definitely would not recommend it. Way too "beany" and not worth $16 at all. The southwest rolls were decent- very fried tho. Cheesecake Factory's are better ;) The location and dog-friendly atmosphere are great, with the exception of the homeless camp right at their patio entrance, but unfortunately, the service really took away from the experience. Hopefully this was just an off night, because Big Lug has a lot going for it.

Ordering at the counter allows for food and drink service and they can bring the order to your table when it's ready. I enjoyed a Colombian hot dog as a snack, which cost $5.75 and is a hot dog topped with pineapple marmalade, pink sauce, and potato sticks. It's quite tasty, and makes for a nice snack. They also have free popcorn with a purchase if you like. It makes the whole space smell like popcorn!

Yikes! Avoid this place. Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and it was a ghost town. Found out why…read more We didn't even stay for a drink. We wanted to sit outside with our dog and the meth-mouth girl at the bar said we would have to prop the exit door open with something because she couldn't unlock it and that our dog wasn't allowed inside. Pretty normal, except she wouldn't let us open the gate to come in from outside. I asked how we were supposed to get into the outside area if we couldn't use the outdoor gate or come through the building and she looked at me like I had three heads. Maybe she was high? Didn't matter, the outdoor area was rough; Full sun, like two tables and weeds about waist high. We just left and hit some of the actual breweries around the west side. This place will be closed in 6 months for sure.

The bartenders are always helpful with sharing their current offerings. Metazoa is famously dog friendly, and 5% of profits go towards benefitting shelter dogs. They allow dogs inside the premises and have a dog park outside. The seating is a mix of high top and low tables with plenty of space for the whole crew. One too many deep breaths in there, and I am down for the count for at least 2 days. So yes, I visited at my own risk, and I regret nothing. We popped in to grab a four-pack of beer for my nephew and ended up sampling a few while we were at it because that is just what you do. The woman who helped us was an absolute gem, so warm and friendly that I genuinely wished I could come back just to see her again (wealth of knowledge). If you go, I hope you get her. NO, I don't remember her name. From what I could take in between trying not to breathe too deeply, this place is wonderful. Tons of space for you and your four-legged best friend, food trucks outside, and a dog park to round it all out. If you are a pet lover without the whole allergy situation holding you back, this is your happy place. Go. Bring the dog. Have a beer. Live your best life.
