Circle M has excellent food, service and beautiful atmosphere. This is a must visit restaurant when you visit Beaver island.

I had a good experience at Circle M. The steak was excellent and they had a lot of NA beers on tap. The service was really slow but the place was slammed when we were here. Also I've noticed restaurants on Beaver island are generally on "island time" so it didn't seem worse than any other one. My steak was actually a bit too big for me, but I also never used to order steak at restaurants as I used to be a vegetarian. Overall we had a good time read more

Waited for 2hr to get food then food came out cold, poor service and staff didn't care food came late and cold! Others were served food before us even when they ordered after us. Then we waited again a long time for the check. We didn't eat the food and left disappointed! Not recommending this place at all!! There are better, friendlier options on the island! read more

The food was delicious. The restaurant is an old house. We had great service. Not a big menu to choose from, but our steak was perfect.

We've been going to Beaver Island for over 20 years and this is one of our favorite places to eat. We often take a dear island friend there to celebrate his birthday and have never been disappointed. My husband had parm whitefish, I had whitefish artichoke and our friend had bacon wrapped pork tenderloin medallions. I tasted his pork and, even though my fish was great, I wished I would have ordered the pork medallions... yum! Reservations are necessary. read more

Very surprised-very disappointed. Based on past experiences we made it a point to eat here. We made a reservation, showed up about 10 minutes early. We were seated about 5 minutes after arrival. 20 minutes later, the people around us (2 different tables) seated after us were greeted and orders taken. We were invisible. No eye contact, no water, no we will be with you shortly, no we are short staffed please be patient. Just ignored. We came to Beaver Island on our own boat...we were well dressed....we were polite and on time...we have no idea why we were ignored. We understand post Covid problems and challenges. We understand the challenges of hiring. We are business people. If you can't even catch the eye of any wait staff or the "manager" at the door as you are leaving....the place doesn't have a rosy future. read more

We had been looking forward to Dinner on Sunday Sept 5 at the Circle M for the last 6 weeks. We had a group of 6 traveling to Beaver Island and our 4 guests (who had never been on the Island) were joining us on our recommendation. I had Initially tried to make the reservation for 6 at the end of July (6 weeks early) for the Tuesday following Labor Day. When we were informed that they were going to be closing on Tuesday and Wednesdays, so we opted for Sunday the 5th on the patio - but only if the weather were to cooperate. When we arrived for our reservation, we were taken to the back patio while the weather was obviously turning rainy. When I asked our hostess what we would do if it began to rain, she looked at me, didn't say a word and shrugged her shoulders. When it was obvious that the rain was going to come, I went inside to speak with our hostess who honestly showed so little concern it was astonishing. I don't make a habit of poor reviews, and normally love the Circle M, however I have never been more disappointed in a restaurant experience. Went here with family on a summer vacation trip. Service was HORRENDOUS, I have not been treated this poorly by a waitstaff in a long time. Host was rude and short, did not greet us upon arrival and just asked for the name under the reservation and started walking to the table with no other words. Our server seemed like she had no interest in being there or pleasing the customers. Said maybe 10 words to us throughout the entire experience and would walk away without asking if we needed anything, leaving us with empty drinks and dirty dishes scattered around the table. Server scoffed when I asked for something different because my food was brought out raw. Any other interactions with servers who were not assigned to us were also extremely unpleasant. Food was subpar, nothing special, and menu was kinda pricey for the quality of food. Ordered the steak tips appetizer, had potential to be great but there was so much fat on the "filet". I have been a server for 10 years. I am always overly nice to other waitstaff because I understand. However, the service here was straight up unacceptable. It wasn't just one person, it was the entire staff. Don't waste your time coming here if you want good food and good service, you won't find it! read more

What a cool building! You leave a message on the answering machine for reservations. My wife had the tomato salad w ricotta stuffed mozzarella and loved it. pasta primavera for dinner was excellent. Not a huge menu but great selections. Good service. Would definitely return. read more

This place is shockingly good. Last year I had the best fish tacos I've ever had. They weren't on the menu this year but had the chicken special last night. It was nearly perfect. The service was fantastic... drink selection was decent... and the desert was great. They had a live band playing on the bed of a truck. I don't know what else you could want from a place. The drive up you think, hmm! Is this a converted old house? Way cooler! It's an old catholic rectory. The food was delicious. We had the NY strip steak topped with a cream blue cheese, mashed potatoes and cream of mushroom soup, shrimp linguine, and kids Mac and cheese bites. Nothing was bad! The portions are large and the left overs were delicious the next day. The prices are so reasonable compared to have the same meal in a big city. The food was seasoned in a traditional American style. Reminds me of my grandma's cooking growing up. For the love of old house! This place was cool! If you have a party of about 6 ask for the table in the semi private room with so much charm. Ambiance really changes the mood. It's the ideal nice restaurant you would expect to find in a remote island like this. The family that owns this are just the nicest. Anyone with a dislike for an establishment like this, know where you are and understand your audience. You are not at Ocean and Prime on Michigan Ave in downtown Chicago. This is a great jem by a generational Beaver Island Irish family that is going a great job holding onto the islands culture! We will be back. read more

My favorite restaurant on the Island. If I could eat every meal here I would! Everything tastes good, but my favorite are the whitefish meals. Make reservations as it is a popular place and walk ins get turned away more often than not. Remember you're on island time so don't expect to be in and out in 45 min like on the mainland ;) read more

I've been coming to the island since the mid seventies and the current owners, cooks, and staff are keeping up the tradition of Circle M extremely well. A tradition of good food, long-lived, great experiences at Circle M is hard to follow, but you won't be disappointed. It is the first choice of our family and friends with 45 years of island memories. Food was awesome, service was pleasant, but super slow. So close to 5 stars for us, but it was so painfully slow. 2.5 hours. 2 drinks. Everyone was nice, but it was frustrating. Very very neat building. However, when I was served a few weeks ago, my waitress was snappy and rude. I asked for a straw with my drink, but instead she interrupted me and told me I didn't want a straw because I didn't want to kill sea turtles. Also I was told I could only order what was printed word for word on the menu. After being shot down by trying to tweak a dish (not adding mushrooms) I had to settle for a $4 salad. read more

Went here on a recommendation from a local who seemed intoxicated, but she said it is great. After we sat down I saw the reviews on Yelp and wondered if we had made a mistake. Absolutely not. The food was excellent and the service was just attentive enough. There was a pretty decent band playing (where did they come from?) and we sat outside on a nice cool July evening. One star is too many.....what a disgrace to this restaurant. I've been going to Circle M since 1976 when Bob and Lil owned it and truly cared about the food, customers and the reputation. I will not waste a lot of time explaining the situation, because this place was disgusting. It all started from showing up for dinner with six people and we were told that we needed a reservation and it was empty. The following day we left a message and after finally talking to the hostess I assume, (which was another cluster). When we arrived 7 minutes early the following day, we were told that they were not ready for us and that we needed to go to the bar and get a drink and wait. Once the hostess came and told us that our table was ready, we walked towards the room where our table was, only to find that all tables in the room had menus and silverware except ours and she never even came into the room. After waiting for a few minutes, our party decided to just leave...... two out of three nights on the island we were extremely disappointed with this place. read more

The building is awesome and the staff is super friendly. I got the pesto pasta and shrimp and the meal was cold and the shrimp raw inside. I couldn't eat it once I saw how transparent the inside of the shrimp was. I maybe ordered the wrong thing or just got unlucky! read more

Took a group for dinner there August 4 and found the service TERRIBLE beyond reason. It took over 20 minutes for the unconcerned server to first visit our table, dinners took over an hour more to arrive, and they simply "forgot" one person's order all together. We had a couple very good meals here but tonight was a disaster. Service is spotty. All beef comes out well done no matter how you order it. It seems like they try too hard to "fancy up" entrees with weird sauce combinations when they should just stick to the basic preparation methods. Plus we were overcharged. Have been going here since they first opened a few years ago. Never had a bad meal. Sometimes the service is a little slow, but most people are on "island time" when they come to Beaver Island and they just go with the flow. For such a small kitchen, they put out a great product. This is absolutely the best restaurant on the island! The NY strip and prime rib are great. My son is crazy about the whitefish encrusted with panko crumbs and parmesan. I also think their salad dressings (all made in-house) are soooooo good!!! Yum. read more
