The *DLB* Steak Au Poivre - 8oz Filet rolled in black peppercorns, accompanied with Garlic chive mashed potatoes and fresh carrots.

If you are traveling in Northern, MI. Douglas Lake Bar & Steakhouse is worth the drive to check out. A short distance from the Cheboygan, Indian River, Gaylord, Petoskey, Harbor Springs area will bring you to this tucked away gem, situated on Beautiful Douglas Lake. In addition to their normal dining room, we love their outdoor patio overlooking the lake. We have eaten here a number of times, the staff is always very accommodating and attentive. Our server Tara did an amazing job! Menu offers a diverse range of Steak, Seafood and Pasta options, all are fresh and well prepared. Last night we started with a Caesar Salad, and the DLB Steak Au Poivre, which is an 8oz Filet, rolled in cracked peppercorns with a Cognac Dijon Sauce. The Dijon Sauce was a little salty for our taste, but the Filet was amazing with great flavor, very tender cooked to medium. It was served with Chive mashed potatoes and fresh carrots. For dessert I had the fresh strawberry shortcake on angel food cake, excellent. A another member of our party had the carrot cake, which was also very good. Highly recommend checking them out. Definitely make reservations ahead of time to avoid a long wait.

Douglas Lake Bar and Steakhouse has a beautiful atmosphere. Located right beside the water, the views are calming. There are tables near the water's edge that you can sit at while waiting for your reservation to be called, allowing you to take in the scenery. They even have a dock to park your boat at while you dine. We made a reservation online a day ahead of time and were sat quite a bit past our scheduled dining time. Not a big deal as it was a busy weekend. We were sat on the patio and the mosquitos were horrible. Our server was phenomenal, always having a smile on her face. She brought us citronella candles to keep the mosquitoes away. Our food came out fast despite it being busy. I ordered the Cakebread Cellars Sauvignon Blanc and it was everything I hoped it would be--The fresh citrus flavor embodies summer sunshine. The DLB Steak Au Poivre was delicious as usual. The sauce that comes on it is my favorite! It was served with sour cream and chive mashed potatoes and green beans (which were cooked to perfection too). My mom ordered the Planked Whitefish, which is served with duchess potatoes. The tartar sauce and squeezed lemon were the perfect toppings. I would recommend ordering this with the Sauvignon Blanc. This is the perfect place to celebrate any special occasion because of the excellent food, amazing staff, and gorgeous atmosphere.

Food was delicious. Mussels were executed beautifully and a great caesar salad to compliment. Everyone in my group loved their cocktails. Service and view were incredible.

If you have never been here, then you are missing a timeless gem. We took a friend to dinner who has never been, and she was asking herself why she never knew about it. Well needless to say she fell in love with the DLB. Who wouldn't, it shouts out northern Michigan, and plain old fashioned quality. Our service was prompt and pleasant. Food was spot on, as were the wonderful desserts.

If I could give this place 6 stars I would! To start the restaurant scene in this area is awful. Some places in the area are closed or have poor quality of food. My girlfriend and I were going from place to place prior to finding this restaurant and were so disappointed. We called to make sure this place was open and we're greeted by a very friendly voice. Once we finally got to the restaurant the hostess greeted us very nicely and was like "oh we were waiting for you!! Come on in." Which made us feel so good. After we sat down our waitress Tori greeted us and was such good energy. We got a bratta appetizer and really enjoyed this as a start to the meal. After ordering our side salads came out and they were just meh. Presentation was okay. Then the main dishes came out and presentation was MUCH better than the side salads. The pork chop had amazing seasoning and the chicken pasta was creamy and fun. The Brussels Sprouts were very bland however. They really needed some seasoning. What made this over the top for me was the carrot cake!!!!! Holy cow. I didn't take a photo of it but it was the literal best carrot cake I've ever had in my life. Overall we would definitely come back!! Check this out if you're in the area.

Food was great. Initially service was amazing but then once we were seated became a little slow. The dining area is a little too warm but definitely cozy.

If it's warm enough grab a table outside for a beautiful view of the lake! Quick little 30min drove from Petoskey. We started with a shrimp/bacon/crab dish appetizer. It came out with four shrimp so perfect for a couple or group to get. If you are with a party of 4 I recommend ordering another appetizer with it. I had the scallops with the sun dried tomato risotto. It's funny because on the drive here I was talking about how I don't like sun dried tomatoes and then I order a dish with it! The scallops and risotto were both incredible. The server brought out an extra side of the cream sauce for the scallops which was a nice addition! My boyfriend had the seafood pasta and went with the Parmesan cream sauce. It was delicious but extremely filling and he couldn't finish it. Can't wait to enjoy it for lunch later today.

I was a little concerned that we would be under dressed but we dressed similar to the other patrons. We made a reservation and were greeted and seated promptly. Everything we had was superb. I highly recommend the beet salad, Caesar salad, walleye, shrimp with fettucini, filet of beef, and strawberry shortcake. Nancy Kelly the chef came to our table to check on our experience. She is a super nice lady and I wish her all the best.

I was very excited to try the restaurant at dinnertime and I was not disappointed. The dining room has maybe 15 tables. Its an attractive room, but dark. You do not come here for the view. While I loathe the term, the best description for the dining room is shabby chic. The menu features an assortment of special cocktails, 4 or 5 appetizers, and 6 or 7 entrees. I am always wary of places with menus that go on page after page. So I was okay with the smaller menu. They have a full bar. At my table we ordered a shrimp appetizer, that was paired with burrata, watermelon and corn. It looked beautiful and the burrata--hard to find up here--was great. We also had the crab cake appetizer which was also served with corn. It was great, with lots of crab. For entrees, I had the duck with a tasty Asian BBQ sauce. The duck breast was cooked just the way I liked it. While duck is not a rarity in the north woods, the pairing with the lighter Asian sauce was a nice touch. Also at the table was a rack of lamb. Frankly, that is what I hope to have next time. I stole a chop and it was out of this world. Tender and well flavored. Seriously, it was some of the finest lamb i have ever had, I only got to steal one chop. For dessert we had a chocolate delice, which was a frozen combination of chocolate and almond cookie. It was also great. I thought the prices were very cheap for fine dining up north. Put this restaurant in downtown Petoskey and each of the entrees would have been ten dollars more--at least. They do take reservations. It really filled up when we were there. I highly recommend you give this joint a try. I also recommend that you park on the side. Backing out onto 31 is not that fun.

The only drawback was the table size. It felt a bit tight for five people once the drinks and plates started filling the space. Aside from that, the restaurant was clean, including the bathrooms, which is always appreciated. Our server was prompt and attentive. She quickly took our drink orders and returned shortly after with them, then took our food order without delay. The kitchen moved efficiently, and our meals arrived fairly quickly. Dinner came with one basket of bread and butter, with additional baskets available for an extra charge. We also ordered three desserts, which were decent and a nice way to end the meal. As for the food, the lamb stood out and was very good. The steaks were solid and well prepared. The chicken Alfredo was a bit too heavy on the cheese, making the sauce thicker than expected. The mushroom ravioli with beef delivered strong mushroom flavor, definitely generous on that front. For five people, including three desserts, our total bill came to $246. Overall, it was a good experience with attentive service and mostly enjoyable food.

They were warm, doughy, with a sprinkling of poppy seeds and had a sweet flavor to them. For my main I went with their Ale Battered Walleye Fish Basket. The fish was super moist and flakey while the breading was crisp and didn't have any soggy spots. It came with some coleslaw and fries. Both of which were good, but the fish was definitely the star. I also was able to try their liver and onions as well as their sweet potato fries. Can't say I am a big fan of liver but the meat was tender and melted in my mouth. Their sweet potato fries were great and if you're a fan, I'd recommend you upgrade to those rather than the standard fries. All in all the food here was good, the staff was friendly, just be aware that their beer menu is extremely limited. Currently a 7.2 on my Beli, I think the Roadhouse is a great spot to take the family for a nice dinner.
