As a biracial family, feeling welcomed and respected is important, and the staff set a positive tone from the moment we walked in. We were a party of five. The only drawback was the table size. It felt a bit tight for five people once the drinks and plates started filling the space. Aside from that, the restaurant was clean, including the bathrooms, which is always appreciated. Our server was prompt and attentive. She quickly took our drink orders and returned shortly after with them, then took our food order without delay. The kitchen moved efficiently, and our meals arrived fairly quickly. Dinner came with one basket of bread and butter, with additional baskets available for an extra charge. We also ordered three desserts, which were decent and a nice way to end the meal. As for the food, the lamb stood out and was very good. The steaks were solid and well prepared. The chicken Alfredo was a bit too heavy on the cheese, making the sauce thicker than expected. The mushroom ravioli with beef delivered strong mushroom flavor, definitely generous on that front. This was a cute place with good - home cooked tasting food. We started off with some house rolls for the table. They were warm, doughy, with a sprinkling of poppy seeds and had a sweet flavor to them. For my main I went with their Ale Battered Walleye Fish Basket. The fish was super moist and flakey while the breading was crisp and didn't have any soggy spots. It came with some coleslaw and fries. Both of which were good, but the fish was definitely the star. I also was able to try their liver and onions as well as their sweet potato fries. Can't say I am a big fan of liver but the meat was tender and melted in my mouth. Their sweet potato fries were great and if you're a fan, I'd recommend you upgrade to those rather than the standard fries. All in all the food here was good, the staff was friendly, just be aware that their beer menu is extremely limited. Currently a 7.2 on my Beli, I think the Roadhouse is a great spot to take the family for a nice dinner. read more

We stopped in after a day on the water around 9:15 p.m. and waited at the hostess stand, which was unattended. When an employee walked by, we asked if they were still seating guests. Instead of a simple yes or no, we were told, "It's not 9:30 yet?" We replied that it was 9:15, and the employee said they needed to check with the kitchen to see if they wanted to serve us because the kitchen closed at 9:30. After checking, they came back and said they could seat us, but we would have to order immediately. I asked, "Do you want our business or not?" The response was, "It's up to you if you want to." I replied that I was simply trying to understand whether they wanted us to dine there and spend money, and the response again was, "It's up to you." At that point, we decided to leave and eat somewhere else. Unfortunately, this wasn't an isolated incident. We've visited multiple times over the years, and the service has consistently been underwhelming. We understand restaurants have closing times, and we would have completely respected being told the kitchen was closed. Service is always superior. Food is fantastic. I'm a Local and I've never had a bad meal at Teddy's. I love getting their steaks but their fish is delicious too. The menu is a perfect blend of selections that aren't something you can get anywhere but at a fine dining establishment. It is pricey but a wonderful dining experience in a relaxed atmosphere. The waitstaff and bartenders were very hospitable and knew everyone that came in. We were not regulars and were treated as if we were. The prime rib was a common plate at our table, rave reviews. I had the lamb shank, and was the best I'd had. It was so tender and delicious. Lamb chops were also recommended and the reviews from our party were very positive. We must of showed up on the wrong day and wrong time. It was very busy with an hour wait. It was our anniversary so decided waiting would be fine for good food. Everything looked great going by. After an hour we were offered 2 seats at the bar since there was 5 tables still ahead of us. During that time at the bar two bar tenders went round and round and didn't acknowledge us. Finally after 10 mins of anxiously staring at the menu and waiting for someone to just say hi and welcome us one of the bar tenders asked if he could help. We happened upon this place as we strive to not eat at chains when traveling. My husband is a die hard prime rib snob but I talked him into the filet mignon and in his words, "it's the best damn steak I have ever had." Normally I'm only able to enjoy a week or two at a time 'Up North' but this time I've been in Harbor Springs for almost 3-months, which afforded me the opportunity to enjoy many evenings at Teddy's. Just after Thanksgiving, my girlfriend & I enjoyed a delicious meal in the dining room in front of the fire and our server JORDAN was friendly, professional, fun, knowledgeable & just made our dinner that much more enjoyable. We appreciated her recommendations, and she was attentive without being intrusive. Many of my meals were at the Bar where ERIK, RITCHIE & MARK, who between them have been helping to make Teddy's the great establishment that is for 20+ years, man the Bar. Even when the place is packed and they are working furiously to serve everyone at the bar & at the bar tables they are friendly, efficient, professional & attentive. They really know the menu and can offer recommendations based on what customers think they might like. When things are a bit slower & they have time, they are fun to talk with, have great stories and have great local knowledge to share about what to do and where to go. I cannot recommend Teddy Griffin's Road House highly enough! While they have a great menu, with lots of choices featuring the local fish like Perch & Whitefish ... you will even find 'frogs legs' which have been a staple on the menu for years ... all of which is served consistently delicious and the atmosphere is fun & relaxed...it's the Staff, most of whom have been there for a long time, which keeps bringing back the locals & visitors over and over again! read more

Teddy's is a must stop during our trips to The Highlands. This is an upscale bar/restaurant with a casual feel. We ate there twice this year and weren't disappointed. The prime rib special on Saturday night is worth stopping for. Get there early since they only have a limited number of servings. When it's gone it's gone. I've read through a few of these comments, and I'm not sure if people have broken taste buds, or only eat bland foods? Teddys is a staple for a reason. The ambiance a mix between sports bar, and comfort dining. The food is ALWAYS consistent, which is something a lot of restaurants struggle with. I am a creature of habit and order the same couple things every time. The service is never awful, so you can't really complain about "slow" service when they are packed to gills. You aren't the only person dining, and for you to think you're more important than the rest of the patrons is actually hilarious. Absolutely awful. Pecan walleye was inedible...so salty. Asked for Grey Goose martini, no vermouth, blue cheese olive. Got a dirty martini with pimento olives. Mussels didn't seem fresh. Au gratin potatoes were undercooked. No refills on water. Nice waitress, clearly overwhelmed and poorly trained. They offered us a discount of $15 off the total bill because I didn't eat the walleye. After a short wait we were seated by the fireplace. They started us off with this cheesy pimento spread that we put on table crackers and fresh bread. It was slightly zippy and unique. After that I started with a nice full bowl of broccoli and cheese soup. It was flavorful and delicious. For the main course I had a salad. It was amazing! The goat cheese and candied nuts really added a lot of flavor. It had plenty of mixed greens and onions. My only problem with this salad was with the grapes that were in the salad. They were cut in half, but had seeds still in them. The first bites into it were texturally off and bitter. After I realized that, the rest of the salad was great. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. It is a little pricey so keep that in mind. read more
