We took our bikes and beach chairs to the beach one day (we had our own chairs, but they provide chairs if you want and also beach towels). Room was clean and self check in was with our own code. The mattress could use an upgrade, but it wasn't terrible. Bathtub was jacuzzi style. All very clean and painting seemed up to date. Air conditioner got cold very quickly. Dedra and Cord were excellent and really paid attention to detail. I appreciate the cookies that were in our room on check in and then the treats that were on our door the next day! Breakfast was fantastic. Fruit always seemed meticulously picked and everything was prepared with love. This is the place to be!

Liz wants us not to believe our eyes rather what she tells us is true. Lastly , it should be down by any guess that during the months of the winter , the becomes a property that caters to some of society's lets say most challenged people. It is impossible that\nWith eight months out of the year being populated by this type of clientele that the property is not badly affected by that. Because I stayed here for that long, I was able to make a few observations, which frame my opinions. As with anything, there are both good and bad. But these are just my POV. Management: The place was basically run by two women, with one being the "chief cook and bottle washer," stepping in to do repairs and treating the guests to her amazing baked goods. The other woman served more on, in her own words, an "organizational" level, collecting the "rent" every Monday, and "keeping things in line." If you stay during the Winter season as I did, don't expect breakfast, but summer guests will have that amenity. Not to worry. There are quite a few options in town. There is a Keurig coffee machine, however, which you can help yourself to any time of the day. It's easy to use. For those of you who don't know, just put the K-cup in, making sure there is water in the side container, press the top down and push the button to the desired strength of coffee. But I digress. It's just that people kept asking me how to use it. One of the downsides at the Inn were the numerous power outages, and guests were sometimes suspected to be the culprits, even though the building is more than 100 years old and the infrastructure probably needs an upgrade. Also, at least in the winter season, you must supply your own bedding: sheets, blankets, pillow cases. And don't expect to bring Fido or Felix. Pets are not allowed, except maybe in the back cottages. All in all, enjoy the stay, don't get too inebriated (it's a dry town, and you'll have to sneak off to Bond Street Bar in the next town) because there are three floors, and you have to climb stairs. Parking is free, outside the building, but that could be problematic in the Summer. During my stay, I was sometimes playing musical cars to keep my auto on the "correct" side of the one-way Webb Avenue . Take care, and Godspeed. It is billed as a B&B, so we sampled the options one of the mornings during our stay. Coffee and water, mandarins, and store bought coffee cakes were out, and the proprietor, who was super kind during the stay, made some scrambled eggs, which were really delicious. He had some bread and cinnamon raisin bread out, too, which we toasted. The room was decently sized and fairly clean, though there were some ants. One oddity is the bathroom situation. Our room had a private bathroom, which was a deal breaker for us. You can request that when you book. Most rooms share bathrooms - there are a few in the halls. The walls are pretty thin, and there was a definite clomper present during our visit, so we heard them a-clompin' from time to time. Overall, though, it didn't detract for us. The third floor has a nice little lounge and TV room if you need to stay indoors awhile, plus there are porches out front and on the second floor. Bonus points because at the entrance they sell "ping pong pals," which are ping pong balls with mini sunglasses. That's the stuff bonus points were made for. Extra bonus points for the single best selling point about this place - the location. They are a five minute walk from Ocean Grove's Main Street with its nice coffeeshops, bakeries, delis, shops, etc; less than five minutes walking gets you to the beach; and about 5-10 minutes across the bridge gets you to Asbury's main dining/night life area. That makes for an incredibly convenient stay. We were satisfied.

If u want to RENT a bike, go to the Hardware Store on Main St, right off Atlantic Ave. It's a fabulous way to ride thru all the little towns. Also, the walk to the water wasn't that far from the Hotel. Which by the way has tremendous history as does so many of the towns & buildings. We stopped at Miss Elli for the most fabulous jewelry & hats & all things fabulous! The Balingdon B&B was astounding dinghy! They overnited our charger! I hurt my ankle & they went above & beyond!

Location! Location! Location!…read more The Mayfair Hotel is literally right on the beach! They offer $1 bottles of water and free keurig coffee! That's all the nice things I have to say about this 0 star hotel. If it was one block off the beach, it would have closed years ago. This is THE WORST hotel I've ever stayed in, and I once spent a night at the Hotel Carter in NYC the same night a hooker was murdered and found dismembered in a garbage bag. If you must stay here for whatever sick reason (self hate? desire to torture yourself?) DO NOT stay in a double bed room. However big your party is, stay in a room with a single bed. The room I stayed in with my family had two beds, but one of them was right next to the shower (yes, the shower is in the room. no separation whatsoever) and had an air conditioner blowing on your head all night. The sink is in the main room as well. The toilet is "separate" but it's in a tiny closet with a pole almost blocking it. Is this even legal? No way the room was up to code. The wall near the shower/bed was cracking and showed signs of black mold. The carpet was so filthy it turned my kids feet black. We all slept on top of the covers, afraid to even see the quality (or lack thereof) of the bed sheets. The room felt like a prison cell but somehow worse. My mother in law stayed in a room with a single bed. The bathroom was separated from the main room. It was noticeably better, but sleeping on the beach in a tent would have been better, too. This hotel is NOT kid friendly. The staff seemed upset we even brought kids. The kiddie pool was drained. Don't bring your kids here unless you want to punish them for being bad. I don't know how this place calls itself a 2 star hotel. It is literally the bottom of the barrel. Absolutely disgusting. Stay somewhere else.
