My husband and I had a one night getaway to the shore as a Christmas present and our stay at the Carriage House Bed and Breakfast was quite lovely! We checked in at 4:15 with Kathy and she explained the layout of the land and how everything worked. She told us breakfast was from 8-10am and asked if we needed restaurant recommendations (which was nice) but we already had reservations somewhere. We stayed in room 15, which was very cute. The decor was lovely and the bathroom was a great size (with a powerful shower!). After dinner we came back to our room to just relax and watch some TV. The bed was comfy enough, a bit hard for me, but that's just my preference as my husband slept soundly. You can hear some of the other tenants as I heard someone snoring all night long, and then a woman on the phone in the morning. The breakfast was delicious, maybe a tad limited, but a lot of it is homemade (by Kathy!) like the french toast bake and a waffle egg with everything bagel seasoning (go for that!). Overall, my husband and I had a lovely stay and would recommend the Carriage House to anyone! read more

We just finished a one night stay here with 2 other couples and everyone enjoyed it. Really enjoyed it. All the rooms and common areas are very clean and well maintained. The room we stayed in was very nice. Beds and pillows were comfortable. Was quiet at night. Breakfast was very good - 3 different breakfast quiches, fruit, blueberry bread, banana bread, apple crisp, avocado toast, plus coffee, tea, and juices. Although checkout time was 11 AM, we were encouraged to use the porch or dining room during the day if we wanted. They also have bikes available for use which we were also encouraged to use after checkout, if we wished. We would definitely come back. read more

Spent two nights in July here with my toddler son and husband. Cannot wait to return next year. Victoria is a fantastic, gracious and beautiful host. Her breakfasts are out of this world and all locally sourced/organic. She will cater to your dietary needs as well (eg: vegan, etc). My son loved sitting in the bicycle carriage as we rode up and down the boardwalk just one block over. The tubs in the room were huge, my son loved that. The only suggestion would be to provide better pillows, the pillows we had were neither fluffy nor firm...they felt like cotton balls that were made with foam...perhaps offer both soft and firm pillows? This is the second time my husband and I stayed here and we have loved it both times. We have stayed in room 15 and 17. The rooms are beautifully decorated and we do love that no kids under 12 can stay there. Even though we are parents to little ones we want a quiet getaway when it's just us. Had a wonderful 2 day mini-retreat last week This gorgeous Victorian Home is so cozy and charming. My single room #6 was perfect for one. Lovely private bathroom, air conditioned, dresser top flat screen TV. Pretty decor. My only criticism was the mattress was very sink in soft along with the pillows. The front porch is so inviting- you can hear the surf at night. Breakfast is so delicious with a variety of Viktoria's homemade gourmet dishes. They offer bikes, towels and beach chairs. Also a pretty courtyard. The parlor entrance has snacks and water for guests. I'm so happy I found this gem by the sea. I will definitely be back! read more

This is one of the best B & B's I have ever stayed in. The hosts have thought of everything and the place is impeccably decorated. I told Viktoria I had celiac disease and she prepared multiple delicious gluten free dishes for breakfast. Some of the rooms have cosy gas fireplaces as do the common dining areas. The B & B is close to the beach and only a block away from Main Ave. I will be coming back here and highly recommend the place. read more

We arrived at the inn after settling family an hour away. When we entered the inn there was a note to call the inn keeper which we did. The exchange that happened was so surreal I asked for the name of the person i was speaking with. It was Viktoria the inn keeper. We arrived at 3:15, when I called the designated number, she was completely non-plussed "I've been waiting for you all day, I'm at the beach finally, can i check you in over the phone?" To which I said yes. She was so nasty, I couldn't believe it! Yes the inn was clean, the breakfast was plentiful and even her father who worked in the morning was charming. But the attitude from the innkeeper was so pervasively passive aggressive and rude, this seems like a vanity project gone wrong. Or maybe a vanity project turned into reality. read more

Was blown away by this Bed and Breakfast. First, the staff is extremely friendly, second the decor and building itself is beautiful, third the breakfast is awesome. I picked this place over a hotel due to the reasonable price and great reviews and I'm so glad I did! My boyfriend and I are also vegan and the chef was kind enough to make us special plates of vegan goodies every morning. The food was delicious and very healthy. The room was very cozy and I was surprised with a beautiful bouquet of flowers which can be ordered to each room. The location is great! It's near the beach and town center as well as close to Asbury Park. There are bikes outside that guests can use along with plenty of treats out for guests in the living room. The TV has many channels which was perfect for our one rainy day in. I would come back here again! read more

Stayed for three nights and loved it. First time in a b&b. Kathy and Phil, the hosts, are real pros. The place is very clean, a block from the beach and pretty reasonably priced. Breakfast was delicious and kind of exotic, not your run-of-the-mill spread. Free coffee and tea anytime. Tons of ice cream in the freezer - just leave $1 (honor system), a very nice touch. It's easy to walk to the little downtown area one block over for restaurants or to Asbury Park or Neptune for more options. read more

I stayed in Room 6 at the Carriage House from June 26 to June 29, 2016. The staff are really quite nice and made me feel welcome. The bedroom was very clean and bright, and the air conditioning worked very well. The common areas were also very clean, and I enjoyed reading on the porch in one of the comfy lounge chairs. The food was great! Everything was homemade and delicious. I overheard that certain guests had food allergies, and the staff accommodated these (they made a gluten-free quiche and provided almond milk). The staff also had discounted beach passes for sale, and they had bikes and chairs to use at no additional charge. It takes a lot to impress me, but I was definitely impressed. I've already recommended the place to a friend and her husband. My only suggestion would be that I would have preferred to have a small dresser in my room rather than the two end tables that were there. There really wasn't a place for me to unpack my stuff. read more

It was very conveniently located near many local attractions. They give you a voucher for breakfast at a restaurant across the street called the Speckled Hen, a place that is modern but very quaint. My favorite place to stay on the east coast. The decor is charming, the neighborhood is quaint and quiet, the owners are very nice and helpful, and the breakfast is literally one of the best I've ever had, consisting of a homemade gourmet quiches, fruit tarts, croissants with jam, yogurt with honey, fresh fruit, delicious coffee with real cream, and hot tea served on real French china with rock candy on a stick for sweetening. I had the pleasure of staying at this lovely and amazing B&B over Labor Day 2015. Kathy and Phil are the perfect hosts. Their charm, kindness and amazing establishment were the perfect way to end summer. Not only was the place adorable, the food was beyond amazing. Quiche, tarts & chocolate croissants! Truly wonderful. The place is two blocks from the beach and on a quiet street. If you've never been to Ocean Grove before, well you're in for a treat. This Victorian beach town is gorgeous. The place was charming and close to the beach and the husband who checked us in way helpful but two major issues. 1 you could not sleep past sunrise as there are no shades on the windows and it's super bright with sheer drapes. 2 we were made to feel uncomfortable twice for not making breakfast. Once we were stopped by an elderly man who worked there who in an accusatory manner asked why we weren't at breakfast and I said we simply slept in and he gruffly responded "well you need to get up and eat and then go back to bed then!!" It made us quite uncomfortable and the next day we dropped off the keys very early to catch our train home to work in the city and the same man and the owner again chastised us for not staying for breakfast. If people not eating is such a big deal simply ask people to say what days they will be joining for breakfast. Don't try to make them feel bad/uncomfortable for not joining. The food was not amazing in our opinion so it was not a priority. We pay the same who cares!? Will not be staying again. read more

We usually stay at the Majestic one block away but it was booked and runs about 40.00 a night more depending on when you book & we felt like trying something new. We live local and go there for a night out or a quick weekend retreat. I t was just before New years s so it was very quiet. Very quaint & charming Home The room was very nice with a Fireplace,chairs & balcony. A very nice hot breakfast is served buffet style with fine china in the dining room from 9-10 ( no food back to room) I usually grab breakfast and bring to my wife so she can eat in the room while relaxing. The Majestic will bring it to your room if you wish. Its more of a Boutique Hotel then a B & B . Well it didnt matter because we just wanted to get out and go home to our bed. Neither one of us slept all night because of the mattress . i felt like i was sleeping on the floor. Im sore all over . I did say something to the owner who was very friendly I felt he needed to know because If we had booked a few more days we would have had to move .No way was i sleeping on that bed again. Other then that it s what you would expect at a OG B & B The beach was just a block away and we had unobstructed view from the shared balcony.The place was spotless and well maintained. Except our toilet which ran all night until i turned off water supply. Took a 4 minute cab to Asbury and had dinner at Moonstruck. Overall i would have given it a 4 if not for the god awful bed . I do sleep on a Tempupedic for the last 10 + years So anything less then a top quality mattress just doesn't cut it for us .Only other thing the room needed was night stands ,neither side had any So we had to put our things on the floor until morning.Parking could be an issue at peak times just like the rest of town because its street parking but we were able to park right in front.Overall I dont think we would go back because of the beds The B & B in Bradley beach has a great room over looking the beach for same money or less or go back to the Majestic and pay the extra money read more

I have been coming to Ocean Grove for a long time and have stayed in many of the B&Bs this by FAR was the best experience I ever had! Victoria and her family made me feel so st home. I am gluten free and she prepared several dishes for me for breakfast including dessert home made! It was delicious I felt so pampered!!! This will be the Only place I stay now!!! My husband and I had a great time at The Carriage House. Our room (#8) was spacious and most importantly it was spotless! The hostess Victoria, is warm, friendly and accommodating. When I told her I had to eat gluten free she didn't hesitate to cook up some gluten free options for breakfast which by the way was AMAZING! No simple scrambled eggs and bacon here, she served healthy, delicious gourmet quality foods and plenty of it. It was one block from the beach and it was great that there were bicycles, beach chairs and umbrellas for guest to use at no charge. We will certainly come back to this Ocean Grove gem. read more
