Circles On The Square in Wilkes-Barre

With 75+ items listed on their overhead white boards, it's very easy to get overwhelmed here at Circles. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to how the sandwiches are listed, so my advice to you is to simply pick one board to choose from and as soon as you've found one that you like, STOP LOOKING. Because you'll end up spending your lunch hour deciding and end up with nothing! As the saying goes, you'll be the donkey who starved to death between two piles of hay. I chose the "Greg's Lucky Number" and asked them to substitute New York Rye bread. When I got it back to the office, I had a very tasty sandwich - sliced chicken breast, extra sharp cheddar cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayo. It was amazing. And because it's Boar's Head, it was super super tasty. Really, a very good lunch. (In case you're wondering, his lucky number is 67.) Two downsides to Circles on the Square. First, it's a bit confusing with the ordering process. There are two different queues and I couldn't quite understand how it went from ordering your sandwich to paying for it. There's a system, I just don't know what it is. And second, this is a take out only place. In the summer months, there are a couple tables outside. But in December? It's all to go. Overall? Great sandwich!

The sandwich was pretty good, as expected from a deli. The cause for less than the ideal review was from the soup and the pony tailed worker. The man working the cash register was standoffish and seemed to be annoyed with people coming in. The soup was so bad, tasted like nothing, way too loose to to be a chowder. Just not good, if it wasn't so cheap I would've left a lower rating.

Incredible spot for lunch, dinner or snack!

Great sandwiches and a lot to choose from or build your own. Good quality meats and priced reasonably.

Delicious! Vey extensive menu though... You'll need several minutes to make a choice. Also, probably the best Mac N Cheese around.

Eating outside in W-B is nice downtown or at Kirby Park in the summer/spring and even fall but forget about the 4 months of coldness in PA...

This is my kid's favorite 'fancy' place, so if it's not hibachi, we're here often; but don't let that fool your tastebuds. Quite possibly the best calamari this area has to offer (more than just breaded and fried, it's a nice shareable dish with roasted plum tomatoes, spinach, shaved parmesan, balsamic reduction and optional garlic aioli) and dare-I-say the ICONIC Orange Cognac salad. We did the Italian four course chef's dinner in February and rented an igloo for a friend's daughter's birthday earlier in the month. Both meals were excellent and we were able to order a variety of things to try since the chef's dinner offered some of their staple cocktails to pair, and the kiddos are adventurous in their food journey as well. Oh, great and friendly service as well; you can really settle in and get comfy here!

We arrived early and the place was pretty empty, had a drink at the bar and then went to our table outside. The mixed drink options were mediocre and weak. However, ambiance is great, relaxed and casual with a nice view of a small creek waterfall they have installed and fire pit. The service was also great, our server was attentive and witty. We started with clams which were large and we all had surf and turf which comes with sides and salad/soup. The lobster was sweet and delicious, served with filet mignon, mashed potatoes, and green bean/carrot mixture. The filet on the other hand was a bit over cooked per request and also had a smoked taste. The bill was steep with surf and turf being $65.. for a total of $400. Overall, I enjoyed although I agree with other reviews with the prices being a bit out of range for what you get.

The extensive menu features a variety of brunch options, salads, and sandwiches. Their veggie options are a bit limited, but definitely present (ex: falafel salad, avocado toast), and many of the dishes feature unique combinations and homemade sauces/aiolis. I landed on the Smoked Salmon Avocado toast, which was fine. I was disappointed that it seemed to be made with prepackaged guacamole/avocado (I'm sure for cost reasons), and the bread was pretty thick so it was challenging to eat. Flavor-wise, it was solid, but I think I'll try one of the other, more creative options next time. My cousin chose their turkey sandwich and seemed to enjoy. It was large enough that she took half home! Our food arrived before our matcha lattes, so we wound up asking for to-go cups. The matcha itself was delicious, though sweeter than we anticipated (in retrospect, we should have realized that a "white chocolate lavender matcha macchiato" would be pretty sweet!).

We started with the tortilla chips covered in blue cheese sauce with bacon and scallions. Delicious-I've had it before elsewhere on house-made potato chips, but the seasoning on these chips was a nice addition. My husband had the Cuban sandwich on a buttered baguette, which he really enjoyed. I ordered the smashburger with extra cheese, which arrived with no cheese. Bree said she'd have the kitchen correct their mistake, and instead of just slapping on the cheese, they made me a whole new sandwich which, to my cheese-loving delight, literally came dripping with cheese! Both of our plates had a generous portion of perfectly done fries. The drinks were good pours, too, however I had missed the wall(behind our seats)that showed quite a few special martinis. I will give them a try next time as we are coming to town for another show at the Kirby next month. Kevin, who I figured to be the manager, came by to check on us, but said he was not the manager, just an employee making sure things were good. We appreciated that as nowadays once the food is served, you might not see your server again until it's time to pay. We enjoyed our meal and would definitely return.
