When this restaurant opened, my family and I were excited, but ultimately disappointed. This is my second attempt eating at GuiGui's. The first time was when they opened earlier last year. My family had the legume, white rice, rice and beans, and sos pwa. This time I tried their griot. The legume was old and smelled a bit sour. The plantains were dry and hard to eat and the rice was not flavorful. The griot was not prepared correctly. Traditionally the griot is seasoned and cooked stovetop before frying immediately after. It seems they cook the pork and then leave it sitting until it is ordered. I can understand the logic. The issue is that it looks like thy air fry it which makes the dish lose it texture and flavor profile. The meat was soggy and didn't taste fresh. I waited to try again before posting a review, hoping I would have a better experience. Unfortunately, it wasn't the case.

I wanted to try to mac & cheese, but I believe I came too early in the day and it wasn't ready yet. Everything tasted delicious. The plantains and proteins were prepared fresh while I waited and the rice from each meal was evenly cooked through. Each meal comes with a side of gravy and pikliz( spicy cabbage). The pikliz could have been a little more spicy but was still good. I thoroughly enjoyed my food and plan to return whenever in the Baltimore area.
