Fried Deviled Eggs topped with crab meat.

I went there today for Sunday brunch. The restaurant is beautiful. The staff is fantastic! We had the best service from our server (I didn't catch her name but she was extra sweet). I'm holding back a couple of stars for food and ambience . I ordered the fried deviled eggs for a starter. Great idea but it was a tad dry. For my entree I had fried catfish and grits. Cooked very well but the grits seemed a bit bland. There was a performer playing the saxophone today for the brunch. He was very entertaining but the whole set up was so loud I could barely hear what my friend was saying. I would go back again but maybe on a Tuesday evening.

Ok I was skeptical bc the reviews aren't that great but my friend has been here and said the food was good! I ordered the jambalaya oysters, small size gumbo and the voodoo shrimp! My issue is our food came out before the drinks like 30 MINUTES before! I don't like that! Cocktails are always first! And I can understand if it was busy but there was almost no one here! Either way, we got all our food before the drinks and the voodoo shrimp was my fav! Not too spicy but just right amount of heat! The jambalaya oysters were good but something was missing with the seasoning. The smaller version of gumbo was good and bigger than expected which is always a plus! The restaurant itself was cute with nice ambiance! All in all, I would go again but I would hope they get it together with their customer service. No one should have to wait over 30 minutes for some basic cocktails

I don't do trendy and this place is packed (allegedly) on the weekend so I've never done brunch, which is apparently a huge draw, but I decided to take myself for an impromptu week day happy hour. Tragically, there were 8 people there at 5:30 on a Thursday. I sat in the bar because it was dimmer and cozier and the bartender was polite if slow. He listened to my specifications and made a couple of recommendations, but I ended up just ordering small plates because it was just me and I didn't want to waste food. I ordered collards, fried green tomatoes and the fried deviled eggs. Baby. It was all fire. But I wish I'd gotten an entree after all because I ended up with to go boxes anyway. One note for the collards, they're a bit low on the dimension in the seasonings and they definitely add a bit more sugar than I like (if I can taste it, it's tew much!!!) so get the hot sauce! And the fried green tomatoes are crisp, definitely the perfect texture but they're stingy with the sauce just ask for extra up front. That said, I will be back. The ambiance is lovely and the menu is phenomenal and I'd love to try the lamb chops, so I must revisit. The music is 90s R&B IYKYK and it's definitely an ideal date spot for the 40+ crowd so it's in the shortlist for date night. Overall 8/10.

Such a wonderful experience! Stopped here for lunch with my sister and dad on a Thursday afternoon. The place was otherwise empty aside from a handful of people sat at the bar. We were sat at a booth and were greeted by our server Adrianna. We ordered some drinks and the seafood egg rolls. They came out hot and fresh and were delicious with the remoulade sauce. I also had the jambalaya oysters and the honey Caribbean salmon. Those oysters were the star of the show and I will be coming back JUST for those. The salmon was a nice hearty filet, tender and juicy. My father had the shrimp and grits and licked his plate clean. My sister had the gumbo and said that was delicious as well. We had the pleasure of having the manager Lance come sit with us during the last few mins of our meal and he let us know about their weekend brunch and other items on the menu that are his favorite. The drinks were strong and the ambiance was amazing. I can't wait to come back and see what the brunch vibe is like!

Brunch is low key chill vibes and delicious! They had a dj playing R&b and hip hop music. Also they had a saxophone player.Price is $55 per person all you can eat, ordered plate by plate. Plenty of food options from steak to crab legs to French toast.I enjoyed the crab legs and deviled eggs topped with crab and oysters. And good customer service ! I highly recommend.

Had a great visit to Miss Toya's for lunch. The Host, Wait, and Bar staff were great. The Wait staff were very attentive. Natalie ensured my party always had beverages and food coming to the table. We tried smoked old fashions and Louisiana Tea. Both drinks were great. Smoked old fashion comes to the table with wooden smoking cap on it. When it was removed, all of those wonderful flavored smoke were released. For lunch, we tried the burgers and gumbo. Burgers looked good. The gumbo looked fantastic. I will say, growing up in the South, that the gumbo tasted a little lighter in flavor than I was expecting, but it was still a good meal. To end the lunch, we closed out with espresso martinis with Baileys on the side. I look forward to my next visit.

Location: Downtown Silver Spring behind Ellsworth Parking: Available in multiple parking lots near Ellsworth mall Reservation: Reservations are available and walk-ins are welcome Drink: Strawberry lemonade 5 delicious and sweet Entree: Catfish and grits with a side of home fries 5 Nice large piece of perfectly seasoned catfish. The grits were creamy with a tasty sauce. The breakfast potatoes was delicious 4 Tip: They do not offer togo cups. Not sure why, but I didn't press the issue. Overall, this was a nice visit. The food and drink were delicious. The waitress was attentive and the food was delivered fairly quickly. Besides not offering a togo cup, I enjoyed the visit. I would recommend a visit.

The service, place and food were great! We were sat by a window. Our waitress was very pleasant and nice. It wasn't loud and just perfect for conversing. The food was fast, hot and full of flavor! Must try the seafood fried rice and jambalaya oysters they are excellent! Ended with beignets and ice cream for my sister friend's birthday and they were tasty! I look forward to returning!!

We went to Miss Toya's Creole restaurant for our anniversary on Friday, 13 June. But there is no bad luck just good food. We both had fish. I have the red snapper. My husband had catfish.. The catfish was perfectly fried because the meat was tender, but not greasy. I also treated myself to seafood mac & cheese, which was more seafood than pasta, which is a switch. Usually restaurants will fill it up with cheese and macaroni and give you a little bits of seafood. Not Miss Toya. They were a couple of shrimp, big shrimps. And lots of seafood tucked inside of the creamy and very cheesy gooey gooey cheesy mac & cheese. I brought home the sauce that came with the fish because I didn't want the fish taste to be masked with the sauce cause it tasted so good. So I'll toss it in with some quinoa on another day. The catfish had no comment from my husband so it must've been good. The fried rice that he had was nothing to write home about. I tasted it myself and decided not to carry at home when he didn't want it. But it doesn't mean that they get less of a star because of that fact. The service was great . Our server didn't hover over us. Just gave us enough attention that we didn't feel neglected. She also was able to do Apple Pay at the table, which is the only way that I pay since my card was compromised at another restaurant last year. Thank you so much for making our anniversary special

My husband and I went to Miss Toya's last Sunday. We did not have a reservation; however, the hostess was kind enough to seat us. It is a Sunday all you can eat brunch at $55 per person and a 20percent gratuity added on to it. It was just ok for me. I enjoyed the shrimp and grits, the charbroiled oysters were too salty. The seafood pasta was tasteless. The crab legs incredibly small. Will I go back. No

The food was delicious, freshly prepared, and portions were healthy. We were seated without a wait time and attended to immediately. The Silver Spring location was clean and inviting and soft R&B music played to add to the ambiance. Whenever I come to town this will be our place to visit for a real southern cooked meal.

I recently visited Miss Toya's Creole House and had a good experience. The restaurant has a warm, vibrant atmosphere that's both inviting and clean. I met a colleague there for a few beers and decided to order some chicken wings, which were delicious. While service was a bit slow, the friendly environment made it easy to relax and enjoy our time. Overall, a solid spot for good food and drinks.

Do any single black men patronize here? Hows happy hr?

Only one way to find out, and that is to show up. HH specials are good but get there in a timely manner.

Can you purchase the black restaurant week menu to go? Also does this establishment take reservations for one or it has to be a party of two?

My grilled chicken was moist, flavorful, and cooked very well. The fried catfish was not too salty and had great balance where you can taste the fish. The mac and cheese, cabbage, and green beans were all of nice quality, the weakest link is the potato salad, however that is a dish that can be complicated for different restaurants to get the hang of, fortunately I can prepare some awesome potato salad myself. The peach half and half drinks were balanced perfectly well not too sugary and sweet. I swear some of these places make drinks way too sweet and you want to check your insulin levels. The server was highly attentive and a great conversationalist and paid attention to our wants and needs and had superb professionalism and a strong work ethic. He was hospitable and accommodating. The staff was friendly and approachable. We had fun and enjoyed this more than Milk and Honey and even Carolina Kitchen. DC keeps gentrifying and losing its soul, but there are still some hidden gems around. This spot blends in with the Walmart, and funnily enough I have driven past here a gazillion of times and assumed it was some bakery or another spot and did not know it was a soul food joint, something DC has been minimizing and pushing out to Maryland like the city always does. I think it is masterful that they use clear plastic containers for their food making it easier for the staff as that can be expensive and time consuming with the dish washing/prep, sound economical move. It is nice that the business (U Street etc. location) has been in the DMV for over 20 years and expanded to Baltimore in Fells Point. I think Baltimore will like this spot! This felt authentic and soulful in a way that I had not experienced in the city in quite some time, as the city has had a lot of restaurants be sterile, bland, flavorless, and catered to certain demographics while completely ignoring others. I liked the soundtrack with R&B and was able to hear some TLC on the soundtrack which was very nostalgic and a throwback to DC before the gentrification when it was truly Chocolate City! Overall, it is a spot that you can visit more than once certainly not a one and done like a lot of restaurants that lack service, food, and ambiance/vibe.

At that time, I was upset about what happened with George Floyd a week earlier; still in 2026, it was wrong what happened to Floyd (not to mention more recent news that happened in that city was horrible too). I hung out with a friend on that warm day having a beer outside his apartment in Takoma Park. He is a mega-leftist politically (I'm more independent), but said he wanted to support a black-owned business; I said that's a good idea; I might do that for dinner. He was doing his own thing for dinner, so I was on my own. So, I looked up on Yelp what was in the area, and I saw just across the border in DC, Oohh's & Aahh's. Staff was nice, and I got a fried chicken platter. As this was Covid times, there was no dine-in. So, I schlepped all the way straight up Georgia Ave 6 miles back to my home in Wheaton fairly quickly on that Sunday as I don't like my food getting cold. I think my food stayed pretty hot as it was well-wrapped, and if it had cooled off, I could always microwave at home. The fried chicken, mac n' cheese (my favorite vegetable...I know not really a veggie but a joke), etc. were all solid. If I was ever over here, I'd consider coming back; just so rare I go to DC these days.

I hate to say this but it was a step up from box Kraft mac & cheese. The Grilled lamb chops were served with roasted fingerling potatoes and sauteed green beans. While the lamb chops were plentiful and we appreciated that, again the sides that accompanied the dish lacked flavor. To be an upscale Southern cuisine restaurant they missed the mark on some of the staples sides and that was a little disheartening.
