Pate kode (fried patty) ak Aran (Smoked Herrings) it was huge
Breanne R.

The service here ruined the overall experience for me. I know the stereotype is that when Caribbean restaurants take their time it means the food is going to be delicious and I will admit the food was overall pretty good, but definitely not worth it. I ordered djon djon rice with legumes and it took them 20 mins to tell me they were out of legumes, which was frustrating. As a pescatarian, the only other thing I could order was snapper, which was $50! I certainly did not intend on spending $50 on snapper, but I sucked it up. The pate kode with fish was huge and tasted homemade, but it was way too much breading. Overall I'd give it a 7.5/10. The entrees took over an hour to come up and I heard them microwave my rice right before bringing it out, but my food was still barely warm! They also brought out rice and peas instead of djon djon. I reminded my sever that I had ordered djon djon rice and he told me they didn't have any. Why would they not tell me this earlier?? There was no apology. The snapper was good, but definitely not worth $50 especially given the size. I really enjoyed the macaroni. I know this is a newer establishment, but they have a lot of work to do.

My friends really had me out here trying a little bit of EVERYTHING and baby... mwen choke ‍ Like no exaggeration, everything was hitting. I was sitting there like mesi anpil because what?? This good?? It's a small spot in downtown Silver Spring, but not in the middle of all the chaos, which I loved. Parking wasn't a struggle for once. The decor is simple but beautiful, very cultural, very intentional. And the music?? Yeah... it was hitting too. Set the whole mood. It gives family vibes, like pull up, eat good, talk loud, laugh harder. You walk in and it's just good energy... sak pase type of vibe. Now the service, overall, it was okay. They started off attentive, no issues there. But come to find out our waitress was on her FIRST day... on a Saturday night... with a big group like ours?? Yeah, I already knew what time it was And honestly? She did her thing. A few small misses here and there, but nothing that took away from the experience. She handled us well, stayed kind, and kept up as best as she could. I'll give her that, for real. Overall, I'm definitely coming back. The food?? Locked in. Mwen la now

Let me start out by saying, the team here (including the owner Renelson) are so nice. Our waitress Julie was also awesome!! She made great recommendations and also gave good descriptions as me and all of my friends have never tried Haitian food. Their lemonade is so good and has a unique flavor. You can order it spiked too, honestly I could drink that lemonade everyday. Idk how to explain it, but it had a tropical vibe. The oxtail was delicious, fritters and pate kòde were tasty. They also have this condiment called pikliz that came with our dishes that had amazing flavor and was spicy. The red snapper takes 40 minutes to cook (they tell you this when ordering). I thought it was fine but kind of just there if that makes sense. Felt similarly about the chicken wings. They have Mac and cheese here and it gives Rasta pasta vibes but was good. Overall the food does take some time to prepare and the team is small, so at times it can feel like things are moving a tad bit slow. But everyone was really so nice and it's a chill, clean, and cool environment. You can also rent out their space for private events.

First time here and having Haitian food! The staff were welcoming and very friendly. Food came out at a good pace. My friend and I sat at the bar. I'm always down to try new cuisines so this was a nice treat. I even tried their Cremas drink which is like a spiked eggnog. Everything was really good and well seasoned. I would definitely come back. The appetizer was good and a lot of food so I have left overs so I am looking forward to eating that!

Just a note that the food does take a while to come out so if you're ordering with a large group make sure to pass the menu around beforehand so you can order when you sit down. We started with the fried food platter Friday platter and everything was delicious. It came with plantains and okra and fries. The entrees are quite large and if you wanted you could split them as well. I got the stew chicken with rice and plantain and it was extremely flavorful and great comfort food. The waiter we had did not speak a lot of English so I think some things were kind of lost in translation when we ordered, but overall my group and I were satisfied.

To me the food to me was fairly average as far as haitian food goes and I was missing my favorites like griot and marinade, but it is in no way bad! My friend and I definitely enjoyed and cleared our plates! With there not being too many haitian food options in the area, I would definitely recommend this place to someone looking to enjoy a simple haitian dinner in a welcoming environment. Much respect to the owner for shining a light on haitian cuisine in MD! Also, as a tip I would Be sure to check out the menu before going as certain things like the black rice is only served on the weekends.

I've always enjoyed church even if I don't go anymore. There was only one person working when we were there and he was trying to balance take out orders with having a dining room. It was rough. The dining room was cute. The green tableware was cute. The dining room needed to be wiped down. They really needed one more person there if they were going to have the dining room open. The person serving and doing everything was very very nice. The food was good, though we waited quite some time for it. I got a basic eggs and toast and my husband got a chicken puff with spicy coleslaw which was tasty. The menu looked good but many of the things on it weren't available. The juice in particular. There are some menu items that we would love to try here some time - the goat in particular. And may come back to do that - but we will not come hungry just in case they are regularly that understaffed. Other particulars - the restaurant is in downtown Stoughton. There is plenty of public and street parking in Stoughton, but you may not get to park right in front of the restaurant. Francois' is a takeout restaurant in the Baltimore area that serves up some really good food. I drove up from Laurel one early afternoon to grab a plate. I've settled on two dishes. The fried turkey wings with a side of white rice, black bean sauce, and fried plantains and an order of kabrit (goat), black mushroom rice, and fried plantians. I wanted to try to mac & cheese, but I believe I came too early in the day and it wasn't ready yet. Everything tasted delicious. The plantains and proteins were prepared fresh while I waited and the rice from each meal was evenly cooked through. Each meal comes with a side of gravy and pikliz( spicy cabbage). The pikliz could have been a little more spicy but was still good. I thoroughly enjoyed my food and plan to return whenever in the Baltimore area.
