To whom it may concern I have been a Citi card credit card user since I was 18. I am now 42. I have never missed payments until recently in life. We have also recently experienced deaths in the family, house being burned down, 2 new kids and illnesses. But after all that I still have only missed a few payments as other things were top of mind. I am also paid up in full which didn't take me too long especially once I found out some payments didn't go through. After more than 20 years of being a loyal citi card user I am disappointed to find that my account was closed and my close to 300K Thank you points seized. I went through Credit Karma to research 0% interest balance transfer credit cards, Citibank was recommended. I applied and was approved but for a much lower amount than was needed. There is no way to refuse getting put into their system once you find out what their terms are. When I called to cancel the card I was forced to talk to a "specialist" who tried to persuade me to keep and use the card even though I said straightout I didn't want the card. I want to be responsible and get rid of my debt but no: these people are predators and creeps who try to cling to you even as you kick them away. read more

Awful experience at this branch. I couldn't find some of my statements for my Costco Citicard online. It was urgent because I think I had been double-billed and needed all my statements to verify (or not). In an effort to avoid being on hold ad being switched from one phone rep to another, I decided to go to this branch and speak to a human. What I found was a VERY RUDE HUMAN. She told me the branch didn't deal with credit card issues and apparently wanted me to leave. Would not let me speak to manager and finally she called the credit card branch. She didn't need to hold-had a phone number obviously inaccessible to customers. Finally she handed the phone to me so I could request the needed statements by mail since the app wasn't working for me. I was told I would receive the statements in 2-3 weeks. Not only did I not really get the help I needed at the branch but I was treated rudely and with total disrespect. read more

Worst customer service. They close one account of ours that we were not using and then applied our payment to that closed account Meanwhile interests were charged to active account I contacted them right away and received no response and interest continue to accumulate They applied another payment to closed account This went on for over 6 months I am the secondary card holder so they would not even talk to me on the phone even though i pay the bills. I finally got my husband to call and they refunded one month of interests I finally had to report them to the credit card governing agency and got our money back read more

Tellers are very nice and helpful. I went in because the new account with my open and it's in as I walked in with a gentleman by the name of Wilson greeting at the door. I was not wearing my usual professional wear and upon entering he immediately thought he was sizing me up because of what I was wearing, but he was very equivocate it. He was rude from the first moment when I asked him for help with a online banking discrepancy error caused by city online staff. He immediately and from the beginning dismissed my request saying that I should do it online or go to my other bank where I could find the account from. He was wrong from the beginning and not allowing me to speak and not allowing me to explain what I needed. Further he was disrespectful to me as a client and an individual because he thought that I was not a customer or for whatever reason. From the beginning of our conversation he was dismissive and referring me to my bank or to use the ATM when he did still had no idea what kind of transaction I ultimately needed to make. As a for Citibank customer of many years, with a lot of good service and seeing the tellers at the bank works so professionally, I dismiss Wilson's lack of etiquette and professionalism, and would not give the bank a zero or a one rating, but because of the tellers I will give two. Since Willson did not make any effort to help me which he could've easily done a draw to find my account from my existing external account, I had to walk to my bank two blocks away and upon my return he did not acknowledge me yet he acknowledged the elderly Caucasian female that walked in behind me Mr Chung completely turned me off from Citi I general. read more

I frequently come here to deposit checks for my employer. They never seem to have more than two teller windows open, and it seems like many customers have complicated issues that always require a manager, so the lines tend to get pretty long. Tellers are friendly once you get to them, but there seems to be somewhat high turnover for some of the teller positions, so sometimes you have to watch the deposit slips when you're dealing with a newer teller. There's at least a couple of tellers who have been here a long time and I think were promoted, but I always do enjoy dealing with them when I do get a chance to see them. They have a really annoying policy as far as notary services, we're a business customer and have a fairly large number of accounts, but they still wouldn't notarize documents for us because the signer wasn't actually on the account [even though it was a document for the business.] read more

This branch is one of the best in the Bay Area, and there seems to be one every couple of blocks in the City of San Francisco (where I live) so saying this branch is one of the best, if not the best in the Bay Area is a huge thing to say. This branch is ideally located downtown and easily accessible, for me it's half a block from my office and thus makes for baking during their hours happen. One thing about this branch to which I dislike is the fact that without warning they close and have out of service ATM with no alternative branch or ATM option posted. Beware of DEAN (Branch Manager)!!! If she at all feels threatened by your presence, she will close your account and note that it was per "customer request." She likes to play Jr. detective and does not provide answers when she or her staff are asked questions like, "why are you closing my account?" They will discriminate against you based on how you are dressed and how much of your money you choose to access. There is no sense of accountability for this location and I feel Dean and her staff say who much and when I can access MY MONEY. In the words of J. G. Wentworth, "It's my MONEY, and I want it now!!!' Please don't let DEAN or her staff push you around, take your complaint to corporate and make it known. With 5 more complaints like this, she will be looking for another job because a branch manager should not act in this fashion, no one should! read more

This is the worst branch of Citibank I have yet to encounter. I have been banking with them for over 20 years. I went to a teller and asked if I could have a document notarized. He told me to wait and he went upstairs to verify that they could do it. The bank officer (notarizer) came down and told me it would be another 5 minutes. 20 minutes later I went upstairs, and he told me that he couldn't notarize the document as it wasn't a bank document. I knew that was false as I have had documents notarized at other branches many times. The next day I went to a branch in SF and the bank officer confirmed that this was a service they provide to their customers. I would avoid this branch if possible. read more

I am here mostly to sing the praises of Zahra, the branch manager at the Shattuck location, who went extra miles to help us in a pinch. We were actually working with a banker at the Solano Ave. branch to get a HELOC, when she informed us one day via voice message that she was leaving Citibank for another opportunity -- the day right before her departure! (This somewhat explained the nonchalance with which she was working; she had one foot out the door, clearly.) Once that banker left, we went from somewhat neglected to completely in limbo. The branch manager at the Solano branch eventually got us the point where we're signing with a notary, but the notary shows us documents we need to sign with conditions about which no one informed us! They were objectionable conditions, so we had to walk, and we had pretty much given up on the whole endeavor. In comes Zahra, who, I assume, was just spending some time at the Solano Ave. branch the day I came to complain about the shoddy treatment we were receiving. She was very understanding and very apologetic (despite the fact that it wasn't even her branch). She gathered my information and asked me to give her a day to see what she could do. Within 1.5 days' time, she had pulled enough strings to eliminate the objectionable conditions of the HELOC, got us to signing, and now we have a HELOC to help pay for our wedding! (And that's why now I'm writing a four-star review of the Shattuck Ave. branch instead of a one-star review of the Solano Ave. branch.) read more

Let's just say every visit here reinforces my desire to switch banks. Citibank is the WORST.

Ok, first a disclosure, this review is more about the company as a whole and not just this branch in particular. That said I did give one extra star because this branch treated me pretty well. I've had accounts with Citibank for 12 years, that was until two days ago. Over that time, I've had huge headaches with my business checking account. They used to require the use of token ID which generates random numbers that need to be keyed in to login my account. Unfortunately their implementation of the website didn't work properly on any Mac browser and my login information (part of which is supposed to be saved) was always forgotten requiring a time consuming setup process. Only by running Windows on my Mac was I able to gain consistent access to my accounts. Compounding this headache I've had strange failures happen which have prevented access to my account. The last time was just a few days ago when my password stopped working. I tried to reset it using the same pin code I've used for 12 years. It told me the pin code was invalid. I then spent 90 minutes on the phone with different people from the bank support department being put on hold, then disconnected, then transferred to a deadline multiple times. I finally asked for a supervisor who wasn't able to help me correct the problem as she would need to transfer me to a person that could reset my pin (this would have been the fourth time I was so being forwarded without success). I was at my wits end, explained my grief and asked her what she was willing to do to keep this up to me and keep me as a customer. She offered me $3,000 thank you point, redeemable for one music CD. Finding out that I was worth that little, I asked her to close my accounts. I've learned my lesson. I'll never bank with Citibank again. read more

I rarely go into the bank. I do all my business online or through the ATM. Almost the only times that I have been into the branch is to speak to loan officers, who were friendly and helpful. They bought out my mortgage, and later refinanced it at a substantially lower rate, which I thought was incredible. However .... - I was promised a refund of the refinancing closing costs (about $2,500), which didn't happen until I'd filed a complaint with the appropriate Federal Agency. I got my money about a week after notifying Citi that I'd filed the complaint! - One of the ATMs outside has twice under-counted cash deposits, and I've had to deal with the bank staff to get my money back. Once, I'll accept, but twice means that they're not acting on customer complaints. However, I will say that Dean, the branch manager, was very helpful on the second occasion. - They recently stopped my free checking, and, if I hadn't changed to a lower-service type of account, the monthly fee would have been an outrageous $30. On the other hand, I've been banking in the US for 37 years, and have yet to find a retail bank that I really liked. This is an update. I made a huge mistake with my account, went in to the branch and talked to the manager, Dean. She was extremely helpful, and promised to take care of the upcoming problem. I cannot understand the customer who complained about her - I can only assume he had a bad history with the bank. read more

My husband and I opened our Citibank accounts last July. We were informed that our card would be sent to us but it never arrived. We ordered another card last week in August to be delivered to our address, and it didn't arrive in our residence. It is unbelievable that this has had to happen twice. It is now September and we still do not have our cards. Our temporary cards are expired, we have been unable to access my account online due to expired cards, and I have not had access to my funds in the past few weeks. This is incredibly frustrating. In addition, the banker who opened our account at this bank was unprofessional. We had initially expressed interest in opening a joint account. He instead made us open two individual accounts to go back the next day to open the joint account. We were told by another citibank banker that it was possible to open a joint account. We have encountered to many problems with CitiBank, including Citbank blocking our account due to a mistake that the banker who opened our account had made. We are very disappointed with the service and unprofessionalism.CitiBank has been the worst bank we have ever had to deal with.   I would not recommend this bank or branch to anyone. read more

After filing a complaint with a banking regulatory organization, Citibank has finally paid me the bonus I was promised. Citibank just isn't consistent about the information they give out, which is really troubling, so make sure you get everything in writing. Another problem I had with them was signing up specifically for a Visa card and getting a MasterCard instead. Turns out they don't even carry Visa cards, so either the woman who signed me up was uninformed or deceitful. read more

bad to worse, we are hitting worst - hacked, miserable handling of their mistakes, finally went in and met Medusa herself, the manager (ZN) who treated my complaints as a personal attack. She actually said to me, "don't yell at me," when I did not raise my voice at all. I did have a number of complaints in reality and she could NOT handle it. NOT PROFESSIONAL. If there is a verified method for complaining to Citibank, who are almost impossible to reach, I would definitely have something to say. One of my complaints is that my online banking was frozen. Nice guy said he fixed it. NOT. Another thing I did not even know about is that somehow my password was changed without my authorization. NICE! I am thinking Mechanic's Bank has a nice reputation. It was my second paycheck deposit at this branch when the teller put a hold on the check and did not tell me anything about it. She just handed me the receipt and bid me goodbye. A couple of days when all the bills I initiated got paid and at the same time I got hit with NSF on every single bill pays, I went to the bank and asked them how did this happen. They then told me that the check I deposited was put on hold for 7 days, but paid all the bills and charged me more than $200 in NSF. I beg the person who opened my account to help me out with the fees, he then checked with the Manager and half of the fees will be refunded. That was ok, but I really needed more than that, because I do not make good money at my job. I took the courage to approached the Manager, I then begged her, she agreed to reversed half of the remaining half but not after she humiliated me in front of the other customers inside the bank by proudly and loudly saying, "you shouldn't issue checks or spend money that you do not have!!!". She was right and I would not have if I knew my paycheck had a 7 day hold. I would not have if I was given a formal letter saying there is a hold. I thanked her no matter, but I have never seen a person like her, who acted so barbaric. I understand compassion is the least a person can give to you nowadays, but at least act like an educated person and treat everyone (poor or wealthy person) with respect and dignity. read more
