The power button on my Motorola Droid Turbo recently broke and Francis was able to fix/replace it. The process took about a day and cost $100. Just make sure to back up all your files before bringing your phone in. After getting my phone back it started to act weird and crashed every 15 minutes or so. After I did a factory reset my phone was basically brand new in terms of speed, reliability, and battery life. It's been only a few days, but the power button seems just fine. Francis gave us a 30-day warranty on the button as well. I'd definitely consider going back to him again (God forbid something happens to my phone). read more

Purchased a cool little Samsung WEP200 Bluetooth headset from them back in December. After charging the headset thoroughly, when it still didn't work I brought the headset back. We troubleshot together and they were happy to replace the headset with a new one. After which they showed me how to configure it with my Treo700p, when Verizon Treo tech support didn't know how and the directions in both manuals were insufficient. Good prices. Overall, great service. Very friendly and easy to communicate with. I used their service twice on my device. (Samsung Note II) The first time I had my charger port replaced. I paid roughly $120. It's costly, considering you can actually purchase a charger port and replace it yourself for $10 dollars from Amazon, but there's always the risk of damaging your phone. Sooo, since I'm not that handy and am not a techy type of girl, I paid the price. :) The second time I replaced my cracked screen. I was charged $130. Although my screen looked immaculate, for some reason I was not able to get cell service. I contacted my courier T mobile and they said something was wrong with the device. Immediately I contacted Citicomm, dropped off my device and kept my fingers crossed! Picked up m device the next day and THANK GOODNESS everything was working properly. I dealt with Nick at Citicomm. He was professional, courteous and very prompt with returning phone calls and explanations. Basically, I brought in my sister's old phone whose screen went blank right before she upgraded to a newer phone. The Sans Disk in her old phone was taken out by Verizon and all of those pics and videos were transferred to her new phone. Verizon missed the fact that this disk was full to capacity and 87 pics and 39 videos were saved to the old phone itself. They never made the transfer. Citicomm was able to work without a screen and discover all of those missing pic/video files. They transferred them to a new Sans Disk and we were able to transfer those to her new phone. The best cell phone service I've ever had! - no seriously! I walk in there with a broken phone (treo) and walk out 5 min later with it fixed, new part and all for free. Plus they have a huge selections of phones to play with if I had time to wait and tons of silly accessories and then I got to walk back to the office through the yerba buena gardens. The whole experience what quite refreshing. There's hope for the cell phone business afterall. 3 months later, my boss tries to have them fix his blackberry and the phone ends up more broken than before....but they didn't offer to fix that problem. Came here today after I dropped my iPhone 3GS and shattered the screen. It took them less than 15 minutes to replace it at a very reasonable price ($75+ tax, after mentioning a $20 coupon/discount from CL). The guys were very friendly and I was surprised to find they had a great selection of phones (not that I needed one). Going off tangent, the store was also actually pleasant to be in: concrete/industrial SOMA design, waiting area with water cooler and cool design/lifestyle magazines (Metropolis, Sunset, Interior Design, etc.). A welcome relief from the ubiquitous run-of-the-mill dodgy cellphone shops. With my screen as good as new I feel whole again. Sad, but true. read more

Dropped my 1.5 yo moto x on tile floor last night and shattered the screen. The battery was also dieing. How would I make it through tahoe this weekend? Francis at citicomm was professional and super friendly from start to finish. Gave me a loaner Nexus 4 in case they weren't able to finish my repair the same day. But they predicted about 5 p.m. and voilà the phone was ready at 5 p.m. Looks and works like a new phone. I'm very excited. I have no idea how much this repair is supposed to cost. $200 seems reasonable given how long and complex the instructions were to replace the screen and battery on Ifixit.com. I could have bought a 16 gigabyte moto G for the same amount of money but I'd rather have my Moto X. Bottom line is that city comm got my phone fixed on time and like new and I'm happy. read more

The signs were there from the beginning, but I like to believe the better in people. THey screwed up my bosses iPhone when I took it in, but they totally made the adjustments necessary to get it up and running again after the second failure. Mistakes happen, so I gave them a second chance. That second chance was okay. I'd purchased a Groupon for an iPhone 4 and ended up needed to fix an iPhone 5s. I asked if I could use the actual amount paid that will never expire and serve as a permanent credit, and they agreed only to stiff me at a rate of 75¢ on the dollar with an additional charge on top of the cashing out of the Groupon's actual cash value. I gave them the benefit as I know Groupon can be a tough racket, but that's when things went from understandable to unacceptable. Simultaneous to having battery issues where my phone wouldn't recognize a charger plugged in, I shattered my screen and LCD in the worst possible way. The screen shattered and depressed itself, which led to the phone constantly pressing the wrong passcode. I'd set the phone to erase after ten wrong attempts, so the next thing I knew the iPhone with the broken screen had erased itself. I took the phone in knowing that there were iCloud backups, so I wasn't sweating, and I knew I'd turned on WiFi sync as well at home. After fixing my phone, the tech wouldn't allow me to set it up with my user information. I kept insisting that he allow me since to accomplish those steps later increases the work exponentially. They refused to allow me to setup my own iPhone. The clerk hands me my phone in a weird state of limbo where I'm unable to access my account and setup the phone, but I'm unable to really move away from the setup screen. They proceeded to play hide the Chinamen behind the partition because they seem to think that when they hide back there that they're invisible. WE CAN STILL HEAR YOU WHISPERING BACK AND FORTH. I demanded that one of the techs help me as they'd already kept me out on lunch twice the length of my break. The tech comes out, and looks at my phone. He asks for my email address, and I instructed him that under no circumstance was he to set up a new user with that email address. What does he do, he setup a new user, and all of my iCloud backups previously confirmed ten minutes prior were now gone as this jerk just told Apple that I basically wanted my phone to start anew. Thanks for listening to your customer's request. I'm still recovering from this complete data loss now two months later. As if that issue weren't enough, I followed up shortly after with battery and port issues. I took the phone in to have the battery changed and the port replaced. I called and got the quote on the phone of $80, but by the time I got there, they wanted $150. I agreed to $100 including taxes, and that was my final offer, but after making this repair, my LCD failed almost immediately after. The screen behaved like it had water damage but was later independently diagnosed by a third party to have been a Citicomm defective LCD. Well, so Citicomm changed the battery and port, but the next week when my phone wouldn't power on, they tried telling me that my phone port needed to be changed and that it would be $100 this week verse the $50 I paid the week prior. When I pointed out that they had supposedly fixed that port the week prior, they suddenly shut up and waived the charge. Then, I get home, and the LCD issues return immediately. I took the phone back giving them the opportunity to replace the LCD at their cost as I had independent third party documentation of their fault and liability, but then, they tried claiming that they had just given me a new LCD last week. I pointed out they claimed a port until I caught them lying, and then, they didn't charge me. Needless to say, I'm without my iPhone right now thanks to these jerks, and they refused to fix the phone they broke. There are also other issues like stripping one of the iPhone's case screws and not putting the home button's glue back when closing the phone up. They take lots of shortcuts, manipulate prices frequently and lie pathologically. It's cost me more to use them than to just pay to go to the Apple store. Trust me. They are not worth the headache. read more

I manage our Sprint/Nextel corporate account - a good 300+ devices for contractors that are generally out on the field and require heavy duty phones. I initially went to Citicomm about 7 years ago because of their convenient location from my office. In the last 3 years or so, Citicomm moved its store and my company moved offices; however, I still continue to take the drive and get all my repairs completed at Citicomm. Francis generally has the specific models and parts required for our software (given Motorola hasn't discontinued it). I walked in with my phone on a Wednesday to get it repaired with a Groupon voucher, but it wasn't charged so they told me they couldn't repair it because they thought it was broken beyond just the screen. I charged it that night and came back the next day and they said that they would be more than happy to repair it for me. I also brought a home button part that I was going to replace myself, but I thought I would ask them to do it for me and just have them charge me extra for it. They said it wouldn't be a problem and they repaired my phone to perfect working condition! Fast service, too! They repaired my phone while I was reading a Wired magazine in the lobby and I expected to go through the whole magazine before I could take my phone and leave, but I only got through about 2/3 of the magazine! My Samsung S2 Skyrocket's power button got stuck (apparently a common problem with the S2 models) just on the one day I needed it the most. AT&T wouldn't help because it was out of warranty, and I couldn't get a temporary phone because... well, I needed to make a call to Customer Service to activate it (chicken/egg, anyone?.) The guys were incredibly helpful, disassembled the thing in 2 minutes flat, we tweaked around with the power button, and sure enough we got it working. I walked in with a Nokia 1020 whose screen was completely shattered. Everyone does iPhone screens these days, but to be able to walk in with a not-so-common phone and get the screen replaced within a couple hours was a welcome surprise. As far as the quality of the work goes, Nokia's have tapered glass on the sides that smoothly rounds into the body of the phone. Brought a broken Nexus 7 (2013) here for repair (badly damaged screen from a drop). They repaired with a new screen in just a few hours (same day pickup) - and I was stoked... until I picked up the repaired device. Unfortunately the touch screen wasn't perfectly responsive. The body was still dinged up from where I dropped, which was expected, but at least the device should work right. It worked a bit, but, the touch sensitivity would drop when swiping, and have other problems (entering a gesture password caused me to fail logging in a number of times, for example). I brought it back, however, and they repaired again and got it right without charging me any more. So - in the end, they gave me a great service and repair job. The 5th star I guess would be if they had absolutely nailed it the first time. And I should note - I wasn't able to give them my password, so they really weren't able to test it the first time around (and I had asked for a rush service). Overall - they delivered what they promised, and I would trust them for a similar job in the future. read more

I've been here 3 times for a broken iphone screen and have received execellent service everytime. My phone was fixed within the hour and the price was reasonable. Today I came here because my iPhone screen had been flickering for a few weeks and last night it went black. I tried all the tricks on the internet to no avail. I can't believe how fast and cheap these guys are. I thought my Samsung Galaxy S3 was a lost cause, with a bad antenna AND a broken camera... They replaced both same-day, drop-in notice, total wait time without my phone was under 2 hours. The camera replacement took about 30 minutes. Total cost was $100. My (dumb) ambitious self decided it would be a good idea to try a DIY home button fix on my iPhone 5S because assistive touch is so damn annoying. How hard could it be, right? Bought a replacement home button and a iPhone repair kit online, used the suction cup to separate the screen from the chassis and BAM. Turns out I used too much force... ripped a connector, screen went black, no phone. Boy was I feeling stupid. I brought my phone into Citicomm as it was highly recommended by a coworker. I dropped in, explained my situation, they replaced my my screen and my phone was up and running in under 30 mins. They somehow lost my case that was on the phone when I gave it to them, gave me another one that they had in store. Screen looks good, slightly dimmer than before but no complaints. TL;DR took my phone in to get the screen replaced, came back with a distorted speaker. These guys did nothing to remedy it. My phone screen was busted and the display didn't work, so I brought it in to this shop to get it repaired. I had insurance on it, so didn't mind that these guys are on the pricey side. The turnaround was admittedly quick (3 hours), and the screen looked good, but later on in the day when I took a phone call, I noticed that the earpiece sound was very buzzy at higher volumes. This had never been a problem before, and so I tested it a few times; at low volumes, or when the person on the other end spoke quietly, the call sounded normal. But with the volume on my phone turned up, or when the other person spoke normally, there's a very distracting distortion. Again, this problem came up only after the screen repair. Googling this, I found a few posts from DIY-ers who noticed the same thing, and said that the fault was a loose or improperly connected earpiece speaker. No problem, I thought, I'll just take it back and see what's up. Wrong. The shopkeepers offered me no assistance, other than to alternate between telling me that nothing in their repair process could have caused this, and that it was caused by removing dust from around the earpiece (confused? yeah, me too). I explained that the speaker had been working perfectly prior to their work, and then subsequently was not working, but they refused to accept responsibility. They refused to refund me, and would not fix the problem they had caused without charging me for an entirely separate repair. I'll give these guys the benefit of the doubt and not assume that they're maliciously trying to profit from fixing problems that they themselves created; instead I'll just assume that they're shoddy repairmen. read more

I am an iPhone fan but my friend has a Samsung Galaxy 3. *Please note that we are both in high school* It wasn't easy trying to find a place with good reviews and that would take a Samsung (I have no idea why I couldn't find other places) We actually went into radio shack but the price wasn't right ($199 for a semi-shatterent phone screen, on a high school budget? I THINK NOT) We were only charged $128 (The actual price was $133 but we were low on cash and plus it was the end of they day so everyone was tired) But for the quality of work I think we should've been charged more. Recently purchased a Groupon gift for iphone 4 screen repair for my husband. Did. Not. Go. Well. At. All. The only reason I purchased this Groupon was because I thought the value was really worth it. $65.00 for a $138 screen repair? A no brainer. We've been holding out on getting that crack fixed because it just didn't seem worth it...til the Groupon came along. So I bought it for my husband who's been heavy sighing over that crack ever since it first appeared. Here's what happened: We live in Oakland (this is important to the story - you'll see why later) He drove into the city last Wednesday to get the repair done. (He had to pay tax on my gift. It's not really a gift when the giftee has to pay for something that the Groupon didn't say you have to pay for.) The repair took 2 hours. He waited in SF for it to be done and then came back home. When he got home, he realized, although the screen was fixed, the camera was no longer working. He called Citicomm Wireless and they told him to bring it back. He drove into the city again, on Thursday. He waited in SF for 2 hours. When he came back, they told him they couldn't fix the camera. They told him they would order a replacement phone but he could take his now screen-repaired but camera-broken phone home until they called him sometime the next week to let him know when the replacement phone had arrived. He came back home. He went the whole weekend without a camera (this made him very sad). Citicomm Wireless called him on Monday and told him to bring his phone back to the store. They also told him that they were not going to replace his phone as originally promised but they were going to "replace the inside" (whatever that means). This made us nervous. He drove back to SF yesterday. He waited around for an hour for the repair. He drove home. When he attempted to restore his backed up data to the phone with the replaced insides, well, let's just say that this did not go well. It took 2 Macs and several hours of attempts and it still didn't restore everything correctly. He's now in the process of having to download all of his apps manually all over again. So, long story longer, I feel bad that I bought this Groupon. If I had any insight into how much time, trouble and frustration would result in me purchasing this "gift," I never would have done so. I think the worst part is thinking about how many extra trips were needed for this repair which resulted in a lot of extra gas money spent which, in fact, now brings the actual cost of the Groupon to well beyond the original $138 cost of the non-Groupon-ed screen repair. Bottom line: will I still use Groupon and still tell all my friends about it? Hell yes. Will I EVER go to Citicomm Wireless again? Hell no. read more
