yet again a problem with Citiwide. i wrote a bad review a while back and was accosted by an employee who was angry that i gave them a bad review . he thought i should appogize because it made him look bad to managment. i told him i had every right to right the review and if he didn't want to look bad to management he should do a better job of accommodating customers. customer service is everything. if you don't give any you get a bad review(. by the way, they have a new man there who is great, but to deal with some of the people is like dealing with the government. the point of this review is that i was just charged a late fee. i have been trying to pay the bill for a week. I called to pay it but they wouldn't take it over the phone. I thought it was on autopay but it wasn't. After charging me the late fee i called to ask them to send me a link to pay it. the woman who answered said , "i can take that over the phone". this was after being told they could not take it over the phone. when i ask to speak to corporate they refuse to give me a number or contact for corporate. wonder why i give them a bad review? the customer service is terrible. they don't try to accommodate the paying customer in any way. last fall i gave up a unit. i thought i gave them notice, but i evidently didn't follow their exact rules. i moved out and swept the room vlean and then was told i had to pay another months rent. they could have told me that up front. so, since i was paying for the room, i left two chairs in it and locked it back up. one guy got angry with me for leaving two chairs in a room that i was paying for. i have asked multiple times for the number for corporate or a contact at corporate. they refuse to give it to me and it can't be found on line. read more

My dad had a storage unit here for 41 years. I moved him out of New York and so I had to move him out of the storage unit. I was not able to gain access to it since it was his name but I was able to provide a power of attorney and was allowed to proceed. The team at this place was absolutely amazing on helping me navigate the process and closing the unit. I think my dad had the oldest unit they have ever seen. Lol read more

The space itself is fine and my items were safe for the two years we used them. However, I wanted to shout out the office staff and manager for working with me to facilitate an early move-out. They were very accommodating and were able to provide me with a refund. They remembered me and my case and even spoke with their home office on my behalf. I am a repeat client here over 15 years. Today I called in to make a payment and I was 6 HOURS LATE passed the DUE DATE. My due date was March 10 and 11th I get charged $30. I called in and thanked them first for calling me and apologized I was not able to answer as I was really sick this week with Covid and couldn't answer any calls. I asked nicely if they can consider waving the LATE FEE Of $30 given that I am calling now and its only 6 hours into the day. The staff in the location did try to speak to senior management as I know they said they will call me back - and it was denied by David Z - the senior manager. David Z - - why did you deny basic customer service?? Did you incur $30 of service fee's to my account that you had to insist on billing me even though I was 6 hours into past the due date? Its just a STORAGE - and my things are SITTING THERE!!! To pay $30 for 6 hours into the "late fee" day especially since THEY HAD NO EXPENSES INCURRED!! It made NO SENSE and I asked for basic customer courtesy given also that I was severely sick and that I was calling now myself on 6 hours past due date. He confirmed he spoke to the Senior Management David Z. who denied my request. I work in customer service myself all day -- ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY HAD NO EXPENSE!!! MY STUFF IS JUST SITTING IN THE STORAGE!!! THEY DID NOT PAY ANYONE OUT OF POCKET $30 or anything to justify WHY THEY NEED TO KEEP THIS LATE FEE - 6 hours into the past due date. I'm a little mixed about this place. I have a unit here for a little over a year. I have some reasons why I like them and reasons why I don't. I like that it's convenient, near home so I can walk there and back with ease. I like the staff, they really are friendly. What I don't like..... I don't like that every time you go your first visit you have to collect a slip. It's pretty annoying, I like to be able to go in and out. I wish it was a 24 hour facility with card keys where you don't have to see anyone for a permission slip. I don't like that sometimes you have to wait on the elevator for a long time. I don't like that they don't prorate being that in the past I moved my stuff out earlier and was told they couldn't refund me for the days I didn't use. It's almost as they nickel and dime every move with their expensive box prices and storage supplies. I don't like that they up your charges of your unit very frequently. I don't like that a bathroom isn't on every floor. I feel that is needed. To be honest I'm not sure there is one at all for the customers. They for sure don't let you know about it if there is one. I know I said more do not liked then likes, However, if this unit is close to home, then it's worth it. The convenience is what does it for me. I mostly store seasonal items to declutter my home so I'm frequently in and out my unit. Hope this review helps someone. read more

From our reservation process with Shan and our move-in experience with Michelle, to the impeccably clean premises and the friendly service elevator staff (hi, Roy!), this place feels like an extension of our home (right down the street) -- which is what you want to feel when you're storing valuable or sentimental objects or need quick access to practical items, like our travel car seats for the kiddos. Speaking of lesser-used, but critical-to-have belongings that you don't want cluttering your home... combined with personalized customer service: Michelle even chased me down with an elevator pass, already completed with my name and unit number, when she saw me walk by the office and forget to check in prior to grabbing an XL suitcase for an upcoming trip. So glad that such an uncharacteristically delightful storage facility is within blocks of our new home. read more

I have been a Citiwide Self Storage customer for more than 20 years. I have had multiple rooms of different sizes and the office staff are very helpful in determining the type of room you need. The elevator operator is also a wonderful gentleman who always has a smile on his face and a nice greeting -- which when you are moving lots of boxes is welcomed. From household storage through an out of town job move to just needing seasonal storage, Citiwide is great. I have been a customer now for a little over two months now. I originally picked this location due to convenience as I live close by. I have noticed a lot of issues so far but the biggest is the discovery that they have an employee living on site after hrs which is totally illegal by all means. I first got wind of it by listening to two employees talking about it but after doing my own research it is in fact true, their employee Roy lives in the building, he even leaves and enters after hrs. this is very alarming as i was never notified and I'm pretty sure no one knows this. management owes everyone an explanation as to why this wasn't notified to any of us and how they are allowing this. I will be contacting consumer affairs and the local authority as this is totally illegal and being hidden from us all while we are storing items in this facility! I see from previous reviews they have an upper manager named David, does any one know how to get in contact with him directly? I don't trust to go to the manager at the site as he always seems agitated and annoyed. if anyone has worries about the security of their items I suggest you contact consumer affairs and make a complaint or the local authoritie. this is absurd and beyond illegal. read more

I couldn't ask for a more friendly and convenient space. I needed storage in a pinch, on a Sunday morning, and I was all set up and ready to go with no hassle. Getting a spot at the loading dock can be a drag, if it's busy, but that's the same everywhere. But I mostly never had a problem at all. And thereafter, Sylvia and the rest of the staff made every exchange personable and enjoyable. read more

We were clients for some 12 years, and let me say we did not have fancy red doors on both our units. While location was a prime convenience, it was disappointing that we were still charged a FULL month, even though we had to vacate 5 days into a month. They refused to pro-rate, even for long-time clients. Additionally, before we left, they moved to a new financial system which was a disaster! We were told they had not paid, and sent two reminders, when we were paid up in full. Service is a hit and miss. I don't know who everyone else was dealing with, but I don't think 5-star is a deserving rating, so we're giving 3-stars for our experience. read more

It's a storage place, so I wasn't expecting much. My issue with this place is when it came time to leave -- I vacated my unit a few days into the month, only to find out (after cancelling the unit) that they would not pro-rate the month, and charged me for the full month. Why should I be charged for 25 days (days during which I am no longer allowed to use the unit)? That question was met with blank stares, and a follow-up letter went unanswered. If you need to store stuff here, keep a close eye on their business practices. If I had to do it again I sure wouldn't give them my credit card number. read more

I'm moving my small business into a large storage space there, and all I can say is that the people there couldn't possibly be nicer or more helpful. They gave me a free week to start wiring for electricity and install phone/internet, and will be charging me month to month. By the way, referring to some of the other comments about this place, there's a big sign right on the front desk that they require 30 days notice if you're vacating, so those people complaining about this are just not paying attention. CITIWIDE First of all their Manager GLEN was very rude over the phone. I like a paper trail so I sent an email stating that I would be vacating the unit at the end of the month. Up until today the 12th of the month I had not heard back from them. I ended up calling to follow up and he said that if I wanted to leave, notice had to be given the month before. What???!!! CURRENT AND NEW CUSTOMERS!!! BE SURE THAT YOU GIVE THEM AT LEAST 35-40 DAYS NOTICE OR THEY WILL CHARGE YOU FOR THE NEXT MONTH!!!!! I did not realize if I wanted to leave at the end of June that I had to write a few days before MAY ended?? His exact words were that I think that I am SPECIAL. Because I insisted that I did not want to be charged for July??!! Back from the first day I dealt with these people it was a bait and switch. The first manager I dealt with promised so many things and never followed through. The girls that work in the front in the reception area are much more "professional" than their own MANAGER!! If he can't handle the pressure of dealing with people, he should look for a less challenging job that he can actually handle! Possibly dog-walking. Not sure if he'd excel, he may kick the dogs! I am happy to get out of there!!! There are soooo many other good, clean and cheaper places to store your personal belongings. This is definitely not the place to do it. Because you don't have a ceiling in your unit everything gets dusty. Plus they have a lot of commercial customers that take over all of the parking spaces and the freight elevator when you need to move stuff in or out of your unit. So you basically need to wait forever, or park far away and carry your belongings. Very unprofessional business!!!! They need to do better with their customer service as well. Also, unless you are new customer that wants to rent a unit, do not expect a reply to any concerns to the forms that you fill out on their crappy horribly built website.
