I had the pleasure of holding my son's sixth party at Main Street School of Art in Tucker this…read moreweekend. From start to finish, it was a great experience. MSSA is owned and operated by Laurie Morgan. When I first stopped by to talk to her, she was very open to what we wanted to do and gave suggestions on what art projects she could do with the kids. I liked her "can do" upbeat attitude from the start. Laurie's birthday parties can go up to 15 children and we ended up with seven (including my son). She charges a mere $10 per child (you pay at least for an eight child minimum). You provide all the food and paper products. She leads the kids through the project/games/etc and does all the cleanup. Considering how much we paid for a party last year at a "bouncy house" place, this was an absolute steal. Our son's theme was Angry Birds. Laurie had the boys paint little birdhouses first, then make little puffball Angry Birds to go in them. I have to give her credit, she was incredibly patient with seven very energetic little boys. After the project/snacks/cake, she rounded them up for balloon games in the hall to work off the sugar high. They loved it, of course. Laurie will be holding summer art camps over the summer and I've already signed my son up for a week. He loved his Angry Birds party and can't wait to go back for camp. She also has art classes for adults and older kids throughout the week, and some Mommy and Me classes for the little ones.

This is a great palace to bring your children for music lessons. The instructors are very…read moreknowledgeable about their craft and create an environment suitable for the kids to learn.

Since…read morewe were the only visitors here, we received the VIP tour and all of this nice gentleman's attention. :) Even though he was assisting in the garden, he popped in and out occasionally to see if we had questions and to give us a mini history of the piece we were viewing at the moment. He was VERY knowledgeable as he can spout out the origin of the artwork and artist's mini bio by memory. The artwork came all over: Spain, Russia, Italy, etc. There were water colored and oil paintings, sculptures, to even a few black light paintings. Yes, black light. When viewed under the black light, these piece will awe you. There will be a garden coming soon since it is a work in progress when we visited here this past Sat. From the plant's labels, there will be a variety of plant species. Although small and right in front of the gallery, you can sit and enjoy the sun's warmth and take in the nature's beauty. Even though this was a small gallery, it took about an hour to an hour and a half to fully enjoy the artwork and get the history of some of the pieces. And though I was here for the Motion and Light exhibit, I enjoyed the whole gallery and the guidance from the gentleman. I can't wait for the garden to be complete and for the warmer weather to arrive. Admissions to this place is totally free btw. And sometimes the artist will visit and meet and greet events are organized here as well.
