Overall, this hotel is really great and affordable! The rooms are equipped with a single king-sized mattress, lighting controlled by tablet, and just simple relaxing decor (not pictured, my apologies!). The only thing stopping it from a 5-star would probably be the food. It wasn't great but it's a really good selling point because of its convenience. So, it takes away from the late night searching which is really great. It's near so much and located downtown. I've been to both locations in downtown Seattle and have loved both equally! It was horrible! The TV didn't work at all because it was connected to an iPad that wouldn't work. Light switches wouldn't work because they were also linked to an iPad. Space only works if you have a carry-on, anything larger, and you will be squished like I was. The shower and toilet being combined was a surprise. Worst of all, some front desk team was unhelpful and rude - I think because you check yourself in, there is a big disconnect between guest and staff. So I recently stayed here for my birthday and I've been wanting to go to this hotel since September 2023 back when I was living in Arizona and I finally got to go to the hotel that was wanted to go to and man was the experience was amazing. It is so beautiful large and just the vibes are just amazing to me. The customer service is top notch. They are so friendly and helpful and just there for you. I had questions to ask and they answer all the questions I needed to ask them and I like how this place is for solo travelers and couples which is very much needed nowadays, but I will become back again for Thanksgiving and Christmas just because it's a beautiful hotel and it is in downtown Seattle so that's what I love about it and everything is nearby and a walkable. Honestly this hotel's location was perfect!!! Seattle can be spotty in terms of cleanliness and homelessness and we didn't have to deal with that! The staff were really nice and helpful!!! The location of this hotel was actually really great! Close enough to the tourist spots but also far enough away to where you didn't hear all the hustle and bustle! The only complaint is the room is on the smaller side which I already knew but didn't expect it to be as small as it was! The amenities were great, the ironing room and cafe were great!! Stayed here for 3 days 2 nights and really enjoyed my stay. The location is great, close to Whole Foods, public transit, walkable, with plenty of good restaurants nearby. Room is very modern and tech, you can control the temperature, lighting, curtains, TV with an iPad. The bed was very comfy! I slept so well. My room was plenty for one person although I can imagine being a little bit small for a couple. The room is very efficiently designed, much like those in Japan where everything was thoughtfully designed to maximize the storage/counter space. The shower was also on the smaller side. The lobby was a nice place to chill, hang out with friends or do some co-working. Very artsy, modern vibe. Minor gripe - the room didn't have coffee or tea, which for the price was very disappointing. The gym was small and pretty barebones, no yoga mats and limited equipments. Check in was easy, did everything on a computer and an associate checked my ID. Checking out was less seamless, I had accidentally spilled water on my key card so it wasn't checking out so the girl assisting said she'll take care of it. My first time staying in Seattle and I picked the CitizenM to stay at. This was my new home for a few days and I love the community space in here. I have never stayed in any of these CitizenM hotels but a friend of mine suggested trying them out. So I did and enjoyed my entire experience at the hotel. The price was reasonable but maybe for some people the room itself might be a tad bit on the smaller side. The shower is also just a small shower size like what you would find on a cruise ship. The blackout curtains were a bonus for me and you have a ton of privacy. I didn't hear any of my neighbors when I was here. Love the way and layout of the bar and the decorations all put around the hotel. I did order drinks here and also had food here too! Not bad at all and overall I just had a fun and great experience. If I'm in another place I'll see if CitizenM has a location there. read more

An industrial design approach hotel that puts technology and art at the forefront. I've seen this chain of hotel all over including LA and NY. During my trip to Seattle I finally decided to stay here and I'm glad I did. I found this hotel to be very modern and youthful in style. I did some research on The CitizenM brand and found that The Citizen M hotels are built out of modules that are roughly shipping container sized. The outside structure of this hotel very much gives that. As you can imagine due to the container size comparison of the rooms, the rooms are narrow but strangely spacious. Because of the narrow width there are many design compromises, such as the XL square bed filling the entire width of the room, creating a situation where if two people are sharing it, one has to climb over the other. However, if you rethink the bed and use your imagination just a bit. If your sharing with someone like I did, you can place the pillows by the window to sleep. that way you wont have to climb over each other when getting out of bed. Try it. The shower controls are an European design and was actually kind of complicated for me to figure out even with the pictures on the side. All the lightening in the room are LED lights that come in different colors. Giving you the options to tune the room from business to ambiance. This and more is all functional by a tablet in your room that pretty much controls everything including the TV, climate, electronic window shade, everything is interconnected. Its pretty cool because you really don't even need traditional staff for very much because there's a self-serve check-in and check out, cashless dining and snack bar, free Wi-Fi, and even a Ironing room that is always open to iron your clothes if needed called "Iron heaven". There's also an AYCE breakfast buffet you can purchase for $18.99 that's actually good. This hotel is definitely something of the future. read more

Loved it. Are Citizen M Hotels right for everyone? No, but I don't think they need to be. I stayed for 3 nights at this hotel while visiting my friend and had a wonderful time. The room was the cleanest hotel room I had ever stayed in, the lobby was fun and the friend I was visiting came and hung out with me multiple times cause it was a great place to hang out. One of the nights we got free corn nuts from the bar and getting anything free from hotels, I'm a sucker for. We loved the sparkling and still water taps in the lobby. And we even got some good work done at one point! The location was pretty central, which made it easy to walk around in my free time. I feel like I'm staying in an airplane bathroom with a king bed. There is no trash can for the room, I had no toilet paper when I walked in it's cheap and tiny and they skimp on comfort. This hotel is definitely different than any that I've stayed at in the past. It's good for those who don't plan to spend much time inside the hotel room. My friends and I decided to check it out on our latest visit to Seattle cause the price was decent and the rooms looked nice in the pictures. Good thing it's one of those hotels where the room actually looked like the pictures. This hotel is very high tech. The check-in and out process was all digital, but there were staff members there to help with anything as well. You can control everything in your room from an iPad or on your phone (through the app) whether it's the lights, shades, music, or even picking the days for cleaning service. The room itself was small and tight. Our bed was right up against the window (which might be weird for those who had a room closer to ground level) but they have settings to close the blinds with a lighter or darker shade, depending on how much natural light you wanted in the room. The TV was on the wall across from the pillows of the bed, fairly close. There was a table and chair right next to the bed and a bathroom right on the other side of the table that was the shower stall and toilet. It kind of felt like a nicer airplane bathroom. The sink was right outside the bathroom and there was still enough space on the other side of the bathroom for hanging clothes. However, there's a separate room on each floor for ironing. My friends and I actually spent more time downstairs in the lobby/common space where there are different sections of couches and tables, as well as a full bar. There are private rooms to reserve as well. In the basement, there's the public bathrooms which are gender neutral and a sleek and simple gym. We also got breakfast for one of the days, which you have to pay for but we were able to get it free since we used each other's referral codes for booking on their website. They didn't automatically apply it to our accounts so we had to ask the staff, which they helped apply to our accounts after. The breakfast was actually really good, not those continental breakfasts. There was scrambled eggs, quality thick bacon, an assortment of pastries, fruit, lox, and so much more! Overall, we enjoyed our stay here since all we really needed was a clean place to sleep at night. The whole ambience was modern, which made the decor look simple and nice. read more

What a great hotel! It's all self check-in/check-out so I had minimal interaction with the staff but the ones I did interact with, especially Holly, were all great! You even get to pick the floor you're on when checking in. Free black coffee in the mornings (h&h, sugar and honey included). I did have issues controlling the TV. The iPad provided to control it only responded to my inputs once and the app never worked. The remote worked but changing channels was tedious and there was a long delay between channels and it never said what channel I was on. The blinds also randomly closed one time without me pressing anything. Speaking of the blinds, it was PITCH BLACK when the night one was closed, just how I liked. I couldn't hear any outside noise aside from the occasional emergency vehicle. WiFi worked great. The shower was perfect. Room included a mini fridge. Short walk to the Westlake SoundTransit station and the Seattle Center (Space Needle). I would definitely stay here again. read more

CitizenM is the trendiest hotel I have stayed at, bar none. The lobby and bar are modern and hip. As for the rooms, they have technology that 20 years ago would've made for great SciFi. Even for someone who is a technophile, there is a small learning curve! I will be placing some tips and tricks at the bottom and in the tips section. Before I start taking the room apart as if I was doing reverse-engineering, some of the essentials. I found it clean (other than a stain on the chair), quiet, safe, and comfortable for a nights rest. I got a good amount of natural light, and the electric lights are well thought out in their positions. There are plenty of restaurants around. As for entertainment/activities, it is central (on a map) relative to many points of interest. Space Needle is half a mile away, Pike Place Market is 3/4 mile away, and so on. It is also close to transit with a streetcar stop a block and a half away. Now, despite my love for technology, I also consider myself a man of practicality. Sure, being able to control the shades with my phone, the wall buttons, and iPad is awesome. Yet, a wand that you can grab to zip them open and closed works as well, if not better. On the same theme, being able to set the lights in the shower to any brightness or any hue is as awesome at it is novel. Other than that, it feels like a gimmick. Furthermore, this [I'm sure] expensive lighting system, and I can't get it to white light?! While there is enough light from the outside the immediate shower area, it would've been nice. Quick addition: you can also set a couple "moods" to the room. These include sounds, light, and images on the TV. Though, I use the room for showering and sleeping, so I did not use these. The room itself is cute, but a matchbox! If you've cruised with an inside cabin, kind of like that (but smaller still). There is a small table that can a laptop and a couple smaller trinkets. There is also a small vanity next to the sink (outside of bathroom area). There is also a smaller-than-average 'closet' to hang a couple items. I will give them credit for a massive under-bed storage drawer! For furniture, there is a desk chair and a small backless couch. It seems more for dressing and packing/unpacking than lounging. The bathroom is also towards the small side. As a man, I found the toilet rather cramped. As for the shower, a little below average standing room, but enough to lather up and wash off. The soaps didn't leave my skin feeling dry, and I did like the AM & PM variety. Yet, despite them being for sale, I would not buy them. Also, they are shampoo/bodywash combos. I have no issue with this, but if you need/like distinct products, keep it mind. I liked the showerhead too, great pressure and volume! (especially with the 'setting' button in the center). Also, to be consistent across reviews, the bathroom door does not lock. Walls surround the bed on three sides (one is a window, but still). If you're traveling with a partner, you'd need to climb over or around them should you need to get up in the night. Since I was traveling alone, this was a non-issue, except for one thing. I woke one night, and need to get up with extreme urgency. The room is completely dark, and there I was trying to find a way out. Hit three walls before being able to escape. If you know, you know (a recent review might give a clue.) To close out the bed, two final notes (neither good nor bad). First, the linens are European style, sheets encompassing the comforter like a pillowcase. Second, with them not draping off the end, you lose part of their weighted feeling. As for the view, I guess I got unlucky. Despite being able to choose a high/low floor and a street/courtyard view, take these with a grain of salt. Despite choosing a high floor with a view of outside, most of the view was the office building next door. It was close enough that I wouldn't walk around in my underwear with the shade up! Even further, the daytime shade doesn't offer as much privacy as you'd hope depending on the sun. Plenty of natural light, don't get me wrong, but no real view to speak of. So, with everything, I have no particular draw to stay at this or another CitizenM on my next travel. While I am traveling alone, though, I would not have any issues with patronizing this chain again. Tips and tricks: - A single press of a curtain button opens or closes it all the way. - Lights remember your last dim setting. This is especially useful if you're getting up at night. Don't hit on twice to avoid the full blast of light! - In the app, turn lights off, and press the digital dimmer switch once for lowest setting. - You can adjust the reading lights to point wherever. We were both amazed at how comfortable the beds were--so much so that despite both of us having back issues, we didn't experience any discomfort at all. I strive to be a minimalist and this hotel is really really cool. We slept great. Yes-pillows too puffy and large and my neck felt it but after stretching-all was good again. It was soooooo quiet and everything that I needed was availabile. The shower was amazing. The decor is the best I've seen. It's artsy, fun, beautiful and makes you want to hang in the lobby with a great book. I only wish they had a gift shop. They would make a lot of sales. If you download the Citizen M app onto your phone you can control the lights, TV, temp, curtains... ordering food, drinks etc. or use the room iPad. We booked CitizenM for a long weekend in Seattle. First time staying with this chain and I'm surprisingly impressed! After reading different reviews, I was bracing myself for a small shoebox of a room...but they really know how to make use of every space. This is perfect for singles or couples just looking for a place to sleep while venturing all during the day. The hotel lobby is fantastic if you need more space to eat, drink or socialize. Taking one star because we had ordered a light clean of our room the 2nd day of our stay and housekeeping never came. We were able to resolve it with the front desk but when the housekeepers came, they took all our towels and never restocked our room. The location is great. Walking distance to public transportation and other downtown attractions (the Sphere, Space Needle, Chihuly Glass Museum, etc.) It also a block away from a Whole Foods which was convenient for picking up snacks, drinks and other necessities. Rooms were basic, as advertised, fairly worn (lots of scuffs and broken corners), very noisy. Plenty of other stellar hotels in the area at the same price point. I'm very disappointed at the lack of customer service provided and I do not recommend this hotel. I booked the wrong night by accident via hotels.com. Immediately called to change to the correct night with both hotels.com and Citizen M and was told by both entities I would only be charged for one night. On the night of arrival I also confirmed with Citizen M that this was indeed true and the front desk staff told me there was only one night charged. However hotels.com charged for both. Attempted to rectify this and hotels.com said they had tried to contact Citizen m for several weeks and couldn't get a hold of them. I contacted citizen M again and spoke to Ellie - she said she would approve the request so I wouldn't get charged for the accidental booking. All in all very disappointed in Citizen m's ability to provide any type of customer service help - My rec would be to avoid both. read more

This was a unique hotel.. we stayed here for three nights. The room was very small (I guess it was a standard room). It had interesting features, like the controllable lights/sound/monitor, however it doesn't make much sense when you have very little space to use for two people. The curtains/night mode lights were nice and hotel is close to main attractions in downtown. A nice area to walk, close to bars/breweries. Hotel's bar also looked tempting but we didn't have a chance to visit it. Overall this chain is interesting but I'll cross it off my list for not facing any surprises in trips to other cities. read more

If you've stayed at any hotels downtown NYC or D.C., you won't be surprised at the size of the room at citizenM Seattle. They are indeed small, but that's standard for a lot of the hotels in larger cities, since people only go there to shower and rest in between all the explorations. The high tech features of citizenM was definitely an upgrade from other older hotels. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It's true that the pillows can certainly be better, but the bed was comfy and the blackout blind offered us very good nights sleep, which was perfect after long days of walking and sightseeing. What made our visit even more unforgettable was the help we received. It was our first time in Seattle, and while all the rooms with "views" were gone when we first checked in ( "views" only of John St., but so worth it as you can see in my photos), we were able to ask later that day to move to a different room facing John St., and the rest was history. I LOVED my stay at CitizenM. What a fun concept for a hotel, and it was clean, modern, and memorable. Surprisingly, the cost at this location was relatively affordable (the other locations seem much much more expensive). I am not sure if they were running some sort of special deal, but our two night stay didn't break the bank. The two person room we stayed in was "powered" by an iPad. You use it to turn on and off the lights, open and close the window shades, etc. I believe they have this concept for all of their rooms in an attempt to make them more energy efficient. Anyways, although the concept of an iPad controlling my life feels less like a scary thing and more of an accepted reality at this point, it was really cool and added to the overall allure of the stay. The hotel room and lobby were both very clean. The check-in and out process was all automated (via more iPads), but there were people standing around who are available to help. I would also recommend to spend some time walking around the lobby. The decorations are super unique and they also have many nice seating areas. The gym was also pretty amazing. Usually, hotel gyms feel like beat up, tired places that, instead of inspiring me to work out, have the exact opposite effect. The machines look like they might break if I attempt to use them, so there is no attempt. CitizenM, however, used some pretty top notch fitness equipment. From curved treadmills, their tonal fitness area, and some Peloton bikes, the equipment here although not making my workout any more enjoyable, at least allowed me to feel like I had to question the integrity of the treadmill I was running on.
