Her having mobility and cognitive issues, makes this a little difficult. The associate at the bank, (Kenya) was more than patience with her. Sitting down with her and explaining what happened to her money, was done with patience, empathy and grace. Through it all, my cousin needed to close her account and open a new one. Explaining how anyone that was getting paid automatically (gas co., water co.) or making automatic payments to her (social security) would have to be notified of the changes. Kenya was so professional explaining this to my cousin. It is such a pleasure when you have someone wait on you who knows their job. She explained that there would be an investigation into the matter and it would take about 10 business days. In about 7 days the money was returned to my cousins bank account. Kenya even called my cousin to let her know and see if she was OK. I can't say enough good things about the experience we had at Wells Fargo. Just would like to tell Kenya, Thank You!!

I went to open an account at lunchtime, and it was really easy. This location is hugely bustling during the lunchtime hour, but wow was it ever a friendly place. Their fees for cashiers checks seem to vary by location, which I find quite odd. Better than the mega banks, Univest is a decent option for those looking for a community bank. That said, I was a customer of this bank for years in the late 1990s before coming back to them again around 2012 or so. I liked the bank better in the 90s. Service was more person. It felt like a true "neighborhood" bank. I guess having acquired a few other small banks over the years that culture was bound to change.

Several of the complaints here, with low ratings for this bank, note that they call the customer whose account is being debited before they cash checks. For some reason these reviewers think that is a bad thing. As someone who has been called several times about checks, I would like to go on record to say that this is a very good thing. I want them to check withdrawals from my accounts that are atypical. I'm pleased that they would take the time. Firstrust is a local bank. It's not a big, national, impersonal bank. That's not to say it's small -- there is a lot of money backing it up. But after the fiasco's in some of the nations largest banks, I'm pleased to know that I'm banking with people I know and with an institution that has an investment in my community.

I just moved here from out of state, and if you want to open an account (so you can cash your check from your boss without disturbing him or her) here you need state ID, or a million forms of photo ID (actually 2 and a third with your name on it, a license and a passport) but who carries all that around with them. Their hours are inconvenient unless you work or live within a 5 minute walk from Rittenhouse Square. Otherwise, it was nice that they had a clean, complimentary coffee station and the customer service was pretty good, if a little cheesy.
