I booked a haircut here after hearing multiple recommendations. I booked a new talent appointment, which meant I was with a stylist in their apprenticeship program. I arrived a few minutes early, and got a chance to sit down with a glass of wine (perfect for my Friday afternoon after a harrowing day) to wait for my appointment. My stylist was still with her previous client, and though my appointment was then pushed back, the staff and even my hairstylist, Lindsay, stopped by to make sure I had what I needed and apologized profusely for the wait, offering a quick hand massage with some of their lovely lotions. Once seated, Lindsay listened to what I wanted (which wasn't very drastic) and offered her ideas when I wasn't particularly set on the details. She was willing to change up the plan along the way as we saw how it was going (the new talent are also checked in on by senior stylists, who offered some ideas as well). Lindsey was friendly and adept, and I liked how she took into account my hair's texture and natural wave in the cut. They offer light refreshments that include tea, wine sparkling water, and trailmix for snacking during longer appointments. Customer service is well-digitized and very attentive. The website helps you choose your stylist yourself with handy short bios on each person working at the Salon. Definitely message or call if you are still now sure what level of stylist you need. I had my wedding makeup done by Tessa & it was perfect! I had seen her work on my friend who was in another wedding and had gone to Tessa and had hoped she could do the same "magic" on me :) I was VERY nervous as I had never had my makeup done before professionally and didn't want to look so over the top. I also knew I wanted it to last so went for the airbrushing and the flase eyelashes and it was amazing!! I love being able to support a local business and still get "big city" quality and feel. I have been getting my hair done here for 5+ years and I just love it. The staff are friendly and stylish and very welcoming. The new location is beautiful and makes you feel like a rock star. I've been with the same stylist (Adam) this whole time (despite a brief stint when he was out of town). I've always felt in great hands no matter who is taking care of me, but I'm lucky that Adam is still around. He is so good at highlights and coloring. I trust him to do whatever he wants but he also listens to any specifics you need. It's wonderful to have such amazing talent in our great town of Martinez. Highly recommend. You get amazing quality here. Occasionally, they offer styling classes. I went to one a couple of years ago and it was not only informative but fun. I found this salon on Yelp. I emailed the email on their site to make an appointment. I initially asked for other hair stylists who weren't available when I needed them but then was open to the apprentice service where an education director oversees their work at a discounted price. My apprentice/stylist was Mikela Abeleda and she was overseen by Sarah. I was with Mikela for most of the time and Sarah would check in here and there if Mikela had questions or needed some input. Can I just say, I know getting hair to a light or smoky ash brown can be a process from dark brown hair but no hairstylist has ever achieved the exact color/tone I wanted or asked for until now. I have shown prior stylists photos of exactly what I want and they never got it. I've never left a salon saying "I love my hair!" and I did leaving my last appointment. By the way, there is metered parking everywhere and they are willing to feed your meter for you if you go over the 2 hour maximum time. Oh and a plus is that there is this amazing coffee place right around the corner which serves great coffee and pastries as well as other places to eat. This was an over all great experience and I have already recommended this salon to others. read more
