Very rude road test examiner. She will not let you talk and use your AC when you're taking the test because of COVID. I understand that it is still a thing but come on how can you expect these guys to focus and what if they have a medical condition that requires to be in a cool environment. Unreal. Also she will gig you points for things that you did while she was NOT paying attention. (Head turns, stopping at stop sign, slowing down when you are about to go over 1mph over the speed limit) literally no room to make corrections. Our country is really going through some tough times with the Covid-19 virus..............please stay at home if you really don't need to go out. Stay safe! My elderly father had to renew his drivers license since it was expiring in June 2020. I had told my father that he could renew his drivers license 6 months prior to his birthday, and I mentioned to him that it would be a good idea to do it as soon as possible, especially since in Oct. 2020 the "Real ID" thing will kick in. What is the "Real ID"? Basically, if you don't have the Gold Star on the upper right hand corner of your drivers license, you can no longer use your drivers license as a form of ID, if you want to use it as a form of ID for travel. Back in Jan. 2020 (waaaaaaaaay before all of this Covid-19 started), I had made an appointment for my dad, as normally we would have gone to the DMV in Hawaii Kai, but upon going online and seeing that the Hawaii Kai location was booked out until Aug./Sept., I knew it would be too late for my dad to get his drivers license renewed. Luckily for me, I was talking to one of my friends as he had to renew his drivers license recently, and he told me that the DMV in Ko'olau wasn't too busy, and that he was able to get an appointment before June 2020. After getting that info. from my friend, I went back online to check out the Ko'olau site and sure enough I was able to book an appointment for my dad in March, for a 2:00 PM appointment. Being that my dad wasn't familiar on where the Ko'olau DVM was, I decided to drive him down to the DMV location so that he wouldn't have to endure the stress of driving that far from town. A few things I liked, & disliked about coming to this particular City & County DMV (Ko'olau location) - Likes - 1. I liked the fact that I was able to get an appointment in a timely fashion. 2. Once we got into the building, the license renewal process was fast & painless. 3. I liked the fact that the folks who worked here, carefully spaced out the seating area within the building, so that it promoted - "social distancing" among the customers. Dislikes - 1. Although we had an appointment for 2:00 PM, and we actually got to the Ko'olau DMV site at 1:30 PM, we still had to wait in a very long line (see my pic), where there was obviously NO "social distancing" between the folks waiting in line. I was not comfortable with my dad waiting in line with so many people, so I told my dad to sit and wait in my car, while I waited in that long line for him (don't worry, Bruddah Fran is akamai and wore a mask). I actually ended up standing in line for 1 hour 45 minutes before I actually got into the building (we finally got into the building around 3:15 PM). When it was time for my dad to enter the building, I made him wear a mask, and I made him put on rubber gloves. Yeah, he maybe looked like a freak...........but better safe, than be dead! My thing is..........what's the point of making an appointment if they can't stay on time with the appointment schedule? Go figure???? 2. Although we made an appointment, and on the local news it was announced that only people with appointments will be taken at the DMV, and that NO "walk ups" will be accepted....... Of course you're gonna still see some IDIOTS who did show up and added to the large crowd. When some folks asked the people who tried to walk up with "no appointment" on - "why they were waiting in line?", the folks claimed that a city & county worker told them to wait in line. I certainly hope that wasn't a true statement! 3. I told my dad to make sure he had all of his real ID in order, because one slip up, and the next thing ya know, he won't be able to get his drivers license renewed. I was pretty adamant about making sure he had all of his paperwork in order because after driving so far, and waiting for a long time in line, I must tell you it was very painful! When the City & County clerk helped my dad, they didn't even bother to check all of his ID's and documents that he brought down with him. Aiyah! What's point then? I guess they were in a rush, because all the appointments were really backed up??? Overall it was productive experience, as the mission was accomplished. Tough, with the long lines & wait. But I will have to say that I do appreciate the City & County workers for hanging in there & providing an important service during these difficult times. read more

First time here at this location so this is only a snap shot indication of the performance and efficiency of this government operated business that should be providing services for the tax paying citizens. The staff at this particular time was five and the line of people was maybe seven at best. The wait was a bit long for the ratio of staff vs people. Some one asked one of the clerks why was there only two windows open. The answer was not clear and one of the clerks replied just read and follow the instructions. I normally do my business at the Satellite location at the Windward City Shopping Center location but only here because my wife needed to renew her state I.D. and was instructed to come here instead. The employees at WCSC are much more friendly and proficient in handling a much larger capacity of customers. But I'm pretty sure this place is much better than what is indicated in this review and seems that they just were experiencing a bad day or somebody forgot to pick-up the orders at Starbucks.So till the next time, "Aloha" it's what this State prides itself on. read more

I had gone to renew my license back in Jan, and they gave me a temporary license to hold me over until it got mailed to me. Fast forward to a few days before it expires and I still hadn't gotten my new license. So I went back to inquire about it. First of all, they only had 1 window open. 1 lady was only doing eye exams and 1 was only taking peoples photos. After standing in line for a good 15 minutes, I get to the window and explain that I haven't received my new license. The blonde lady looks it up in the comp and tells me it was mailed out end of Jan. She kinda looks at me like "So...". She says, "I don't know what to tell you. If the mailman wasn't able to drop it off, they return it, but since it hasn't been returned.....you can reapply for one though." Angry that she was basically blaming me for not getting it in the mail, I went back to fill put a form and stand in line. I mean, I was pretty pissed off. The stars on this review is mostly because I think the lady knew how pissed off I was, and she didn't charge me to get the duplicate. She did tell me that if I come back in claiming I still didn't get it, she'd have to charge me. Fair enough since I'd be suspicious by then too. I feel like a place that is able to have accommodate for customers deserves some stars, even if they make you wait 15 minutes. Let's just hope I get my license this time. read more

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU ARE WHITE. They will find any and every excuse they can to deny your paperwork and waste your time. Watched 3 people in front of me with shoddy paperwork get their license. Waited 2 hours to be told can't have what I need because o need some obscure document NO one EXCEPT for the white lady before me needed. #racist # racist # racist. GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES AT THEIR FINEST! Their attitude sucks. Extremely poor customer service. You can tell they are just going thru the motions. Not really motivated to provide quality customer service but what can be done? Nothing as tax payed we pay their salaries and yet they think they are doing us a favor. Had my driver license renewed got the temporary which the laser jet ink would not stick on the paper and as I'm walking to my car I see all this red ink powder coming off my hands! HELLO don't use recharged toner cartridges. Use only legit manufacturer toner please. Now I gotta wait another 20 minutes for a reprint of my tempo license. The lady told me they need one more thing and to have it faxed (she gave me a printed slip with the fax number to send it to). Got it faxed, waited in line again for an hour- then the lady said, oh we don't have a fax anymore. I showed her the slip I just received from them with their fax number, she crossed out the fax number and said - that shouldn't be on there. Now I'm to the back of the line for a 3rd time. These are just bad workers, incompetent, and would be fired if they worked for anyone but the government. read more

So frustrating. I've been trying to make an appointment at this DMV for weeks and there aren't any available. I try calling AlohaQ for help making an appointment, the phone rings once, a prerecorded message says something to the extent of 'sorry, all representatives are busy helping other customers' and the call ends. No option to stay on hold or give a call back number, and I've been trying this for a few weeks now. Finally I just went down to the DMV this morning, I was the second person in line. I explained to the employee that I haven't been able to make an appointment online and no one picks up at the help line. Asked if there was any way of getting an appointment, are there openings if someone doesn't show up for their appointment? She just kept repeating "you need an appointment, I can't help you without an appointment." Meanwhile she had just turned the guy ahead of me away because he didn't have the proper paperwork for his appointment...so shouldn't there have been an opening. read more
