I was in Utah a few weekends ago on vacation and decided to check out some gun stores in the area to look for a Glock ahead of the CA ban starting July 1. It was a longshot but to my surprise, I was able to find a gun store in Utah with a brand new Glock 19 gen 3! It was crazy because I first called them asking if they had any and they said no then called me back 5 mins later saying that they actually did! The odds of that were really slim to none but I digress. Anywho, I called City Arms on 5/16/2026 to ask if I could do the transfer there and have the Utah dealer ship my CA compliant G19 there and the man that answered the phone told me some complete BS. At first he said glocks are no longer being allowed to ship to CA and no one can get them anymore then I brought up that the ban doesn't start until July 1, 2026 to which he finally told the truth and said that their lawyers advised them not to take any more glocks and that that may or may not change. That didn't sound too patriotic to me. I called City Arms because they are close to my house and convenient but I have never bought any guns from them before and I sure in the hell won't ever after this. They asked a few qualifying questions to find out what I was after and gave advice/background/tips on the choices. The price and purchase/transfer process was explained in detail. Yeah it's expensive but it's California, I was prepared for that. They had what I wanted but I ended up choosing something else after I got to handle them both. My favorite gun shop in the bay right and never did me wrong. Bought my first gun which was a glock 26 back in 2018 when I just turned 21 and Henry and uncle V game me a good deal on it since the place where I bought my first gun this store holds a special place on my hear. Selection is great here they have everything from Sig spears to mosin nagants. So it's a great place for a guy like me who likes modern and vintage guns. Also unlike alot of other stores in the bay area they don't rip you off here and charge 120 dollars above msrp like a certain store in san bruno. Great staff!!! I've purchased a firearm on more than one occasion here and they've always been very helpful. The last time that I was there I had left my glasses in my car and could've easily gone back to the car to get them, but, the guy (I wish I could remember his name) before filling out the paperwork said, don't worry about it and simply read the questions out loud to me as I filled out the paperwork. I can see perfectly far away and not too bad up close but just the fact that he would take it upon himself to make sure that I saw and understood everything that I was filling out was a thoughtful touch. They have a very nice selection of rifles and handguns, as well as, new and used firearms. I asked how much and he stated he couldnt tell me because they do not give quotes over the phone. Waited for several hours do to covid crazieness. Was there to purchase with a friend and my girlfriend. After her waiting for two hours when we got to the front of the line they skipped several times us because of store capacity(3) and then since she wasn't sure she was going to buy a firearm the owner told her to leave. Then he proceeded to grab my arm and move me out of the way. Unfortunately, they had what I needed at this difficult time and so I made a significant purchase rather then waste the time. The second time I returned to pick up my purchase the staff proceeded to insult me over taking the situation seriously. While John at the door and half the staff there are friendly and knowledgeable, the owner and his underlings are a dark spot on the other very nice people there. I will not be returning to shop there and I suggest you bring your business elsewhere. I know it's hard to find available ammo(spoiler alert unless you're buying a Firearm they won't sell you ammo anyway) and firearms but finding a good shop that isn't insulting and demeaning to customers and potential buyers is more important. read more

In the same trip I was treated both extremely poorly by one employee (the doorman) and very respectfully (the employee who escorted me through the store) *thanks Covid* The doorman was dripping with sarcasm when I told him I wanted to just browse real quick after signing the Gov. Newsom recall petition. He leaned into the store and shouted to the shop manager something about how I was just a "window shopper" Like I'm sorry 'comrade', but I've spent about $2000 buying multiple guns from your stores the past, whether you know that or not, you should never treat ANY customer with such disrespect, especially when I am literally standing 10 feet in front of you at the entrance. I have been buying firearms from City Arms in Pacifica since they opened approximately 15 years ago, and not once had a negative experience. For those reading negative reviews, keep in mind that world events, such as COVID-19, often trigger unprecedented firearm and ammunition purchasing, which puts undue pressure on businesses such as City Arms. They subsequently need to deal with more customers than usual, and at the same time need to deal with a dwindling supply due to the increased demand by law-abiding people. They are good people, so I encourage patience during such times. I encourage the same for any business. I've all but given up on Yelp but I gotta give it to the gents at City Arms for helping me decide on the right firearm for me. I arrived over an hour before opening and was around 7th in line which grew to 20 people deep shortly thereafter. Pretty standard, gentleman walks down the line checking IDs and noting positions in line. Watch out for unintentional cutters. I made a buddy in line so we were chatting about what we were looking for and ended up shopping together. Yo Dave, hit me up! The team is extremely knowledgeable but shortstaffed so they don't have all that much time for you to decide whether you want to purchase a firearm or not because... well, there's a line of 20 other people looking to buy what you're checking out. I had little time to make my decision but I'm glad I did as, by the time I had made it into the shop, I was nearly four hours invested. This place straight up price gouges, they'll make up an excuse and say the cost of guns and ammo are going up but trust me the prices they're charging are far beyond what the prices actually are and whoever is making the pricing is just straight up greedy taking advantage of uninformed customers such as myself at the time. You will get ripped off shopping for ammo and guns at this store, their pricing is ridiculous, I'l never forget the time I paid $400 for 500rds of S&B 115 grain 9mm and trust me people I know the true prices of what ammo should be sold at despite the climate we're in in regards to supply and demand, and it's not $400 for 500 rounds, scroll and read the reviews, I'm not the first one to call them out on their ridiculous prices. Instead, drive a bit further and go to Sportsman's Arms in Petaluma, or if you're just looking for a basic handgun as your first gun go to bass pro shops as they have some of the best pricing on glocks I've seen. $499 for a glock 17, and $579 for a glock 34. To the owner of city arms, you guys are gouging and you know it, pistol ammo can be bought for $325 for a case of 1000 rounds. Taking advantage of the naïveté of new gun owners is a total joke. And another inconvenience, they don't give pricing over the phone, so in my instance I had to drive over 2 hours round trip to find out I was going to get ripped off! It's almost laughable If I had known city arms pricing was the literal worst in the bay area I would've skipped the drive and the ridiculous line they had going. Do some more shopping around and like I said if you want a gun that's actually worth while having go to Sportsmans Arms, they have a collection of guns like I've never seen in a California gun shop and by the way they handle paperwork in mere minutes as opposed to 30 minutes at city arms. Between the crappy pricing, weird rule of not being able to use your phone in the shop, and slow DROS this place is a HARD PASS. Half the guys there were cool but one of the guys as a stereotypical gun store fud, I'm so over that typical gun shop attitude. Really weird retail behavior. I was trying to buy an AR-15 lower receiver. In case you aren't familiar, most military-spec'ed lowers are basically the same. I was calling the local gun shops to do some comparison shopping, when I reached these guys. "Do you guys sell lower receivers?" "Yes." "Can I get a price range?" "No, you have to come to the store for that." "... I live forty-five minutes away. Would you please be respectful and help me save time? Place X is offering Y price, can you at least tell me if you're lower than they are?" "No, come to the store and I'll tell you." "I'm not in the business of wasting my own time, so no thanks. Best of luck." ... What on Earth is that behavior? I understand not wanting to haggle, but price comparisons are a fundamental part of being a customer. It's like these guys don't even want business.
