On the City BBQ app, I ordered a party pack for 8-10 the Saturday before Super Bowl Sunday for a get together I was having. Since I use a wheelchair I made a 4pm curb side pickup reservation. I received all the proper notifications that my order was received and on Sunday to notify them I was on my way. I did as they requested and even arrived at 3:45 knowing they would be busy. Got notice that my cc was charged, they were putting my order together and be out shortly. 45 minutes later no food. Since I use a wheelchair I asked another customer to let them know I was waiting. The customer informed me they were not coming out with curb side orders. There was no signage in the curb side area nor did app mention it. A young lady finally came out with my food and apologized. I asked to speak to a manager, she went to get one and then came back to let me know they were busy with another customer and asked if she could rely a message. Bottom line, the food was pretty good. They have online order, which I recommend, as there was a line to the cash register from the front door. We picked up our food and took it home. I had the Turkey sandwich on Texas toast with cornbread and beans. The turkey was good but the Texas toast upcharge fee probably wasn't worth it as the sandwich was smaller. I was really hoping this would be as good as I remember. I lived in Ohio for 11 years before I moved to Georgia 7 years ago. Happened to see City Barbecue driving from Duluth to Cummings and decided to pick up some ribs and sides on return trip. I knew I had to have cornbread and corn pudding, coleslaw in addition to the ribs. Well, must be the time of day (shortly after 11a.m.) as to why the ribs did not fall off the bone and took awhile to chew. The flavor was ok with the Brushy Fire sauce added. The cornbread was sweet and moist, like cake. The Texas toast was soft, not crusty. I guess I enjoyed the corn pudding the most. It was not dry, had plenty of corn and flavor. I'll probably try visiting at another time of day and hope that the ribs will fall off the bone because they had been marinated enough. read more

New Kickin' Chicken Sandwich needs a lot of work. First of all, the chicken was way over cooked and overly thin and dry. The overall appearance was not the best and the chicken breast was very small. The reason I am giving two starts is the Peach Habanero sauce was absolutely fabulous. I look forward to trying it on some pork or brisket. City BBQ has been open for several months, this was my first visit, usually the line is out the door. This wet Saturday night did not stop the crowd from getting there. The menu is your typical bbq menu and I found the menu board not pulling me towards any particular direction. The cashier and the expeditor were both friendly and engaging. We tried the sample platter. This is clearly a mass production house, the food was not hot, and the meat was overcooked. There is one condiment station that has beverages, sandwich toppings and bbq sauces. This is poorly designed, with a bottle neck of customers coming from both directions. With no sauces on the tables, you pour sauces into plastic cups, hoping that you remember what you have by the time you reach the table. Sides, we liked all the ones we tasted, great potato salad, green beans, Mac and cheese. Decor tries to be country? Please explain the golf clubs over the condiment bar. Finally, your front of house staff need training, picking up garbage with gloves on is fine, but then putting out soda lids and guest supplies without changing gloves is unacceptable. read more

Overall, I felt this new BBQ place was just average. Not wonderful, but not terrible. The BBQ meat was very good: juicy, tender, and flavorful. However, the bread I got my sandwich on was very dry and the sides were not anything special. The green beans were just ok (nice flavor but very wet and fatty), and the vinegar based Cole slaw was mostly just vinegar... I'd maybe give this place another try but I wouldn't rush back. It had a very commercial, chain restaurant taste and quality. I'd put it in the same quality as Jim'N'Nick's and Shane's Rib Shack. But Beware!!!!!!! don't order from doordash or grubhub; they are cheating us, buy charging us double or triple in different payment segments. When I ordered through doordash, the bill came to $64, but when I called the restaurant, the same order came to bill $36. We were shocked. Anyway, finally, we ordered the store and went for pick-up. We ordered their ribs, brisket, quarter chicken combo which comes with corn bread and two sides. Everything was good, but ribs were a bit dry. their chili barbecue sauce was amazing. I don't like much of barbecued chicken, so i did not appreciate that much. But everything else was flavorful. I want to especially mention their baked beans and coleslaw, you must try as sides. City Barbecue is our favorite barbecue restaurant. We have never really been disappointed with anything we have ordered. Our favorite dinner to order is the City Sampler which includes chicken, ribs, brisket, and pulled pork, as well as two sides and corn bread and texas toast. The menu says it is enough to feed 2. We upgrade our sides to pint sized and then we have leftovers the next day. The collards are a must and I have never liked collars greens, but theirs are so good! I suggest adding a dash of swine wine in to them. Another favorite is Lolo's pork sandwich. The combination of creamy slaw and swine wine with the pork is delicious! I gave it two stars for the staff being friendly but the meat just isn't worth stopping. I've built and sold smokers so I've got experience with the art of slow and low but this just isn't from a well loved process. Out of 3 meats all were dry and really had very little flavor. Then they didn't even give us any sauce and I had asked for extra! The sides were ok but if you're going for the sides you're missing the point of BBQ. Admittedly I don't like heavy smoked meat but this had zero smoke. No smoke and no sauce and dry meat.... And it was pick-up so it should be more tender but sadly even steaming in takeout container and it was still dry! This was my 2nd trip here thought the 1st was a fluke, guess not. My to go order was missing the slaw. When I called, spoke to Marvin the Manager. He was very nice and apologetic. He said I could come back to pick it up. When I got there and told the young lady why I was there she rolled her eyes and went to speak to Marvin. She then handed me a cup of slaw. When I got home it was the wrong slaw.
