    Hotel from pool view
    Christina D.

I recently stayed at City Express and I actually created this yelp page in order to get this beautiful hotel more visitors! I really enjoyed my stay here. The hotel was clean and the decor was very modern and artistic. I liked the rooms colors and the amount of space that we had. They gave us a delicious hot breakfast (complimentary) and they also had a pool. The only thing I would say about the pool is to be careful. Do NOT jump in. There is a square part that to me looked like a deeper part of the pool that is actually just a decoration and it's cement. The pool is pretty shallow. Not at all close to 5ft. But they plants outside the property are gorgeous. I would recommend this hotel to young couples, families, older couples and business travelers. It's about 10 minutes from the airport and 25min from the city. Btw the TV channels are all in Spanish except CNN

Food was surprisingly better than I expected. I stay at the Sunrise, which is the middle (Nizu more budget and Grand is the high end). It was perfect, there were plenty of activities for the little ones and nice shows for the adults. The restaurants consist of several all you can eat and several sit down restaurants. The nicer sit down restaurants, you'll want to reserve in advance and bring some nice cloths. I spent several mornings going to their gym, the coach is super friendly. I took some of their fitness class - kickboxing and physical fitness. The coach does their best to cater towards your physical fitness. I was lucky one morning to be the only person there, so I got a one on one experience, love it! I would definitely go back in the future. Short drive from the airport as well. You should download their app since it gives you all of their information and restaurants, reservations times, etc. Just watch out when you check in and check out, there's some sales folks who will try to hustle you. Just say no thank you. Spend time at the place first, and unless you know you're coming back for sure, just say no thank you.

Unfortunately, the entire experience was extremely disappointing. We spent almost an entire day attending presentations and listening to staff explain the promotion and membership. Instead of enjoying our vacation, we lost valuable vacation time. In the end, it felt like the promotion was designed to get us into a long sales presentation, and we left feeling completely misled. The most upsetting part was how my husband was treated. The staff repeatedly asked him if he spoke English and whether he understood what they were saying. Because he does not speak English, we were told we did not qualify for the $400 cash promotion. It was embarrassing, uncomfortable, and made us feel like we were being judged because of the language we speak. If speaking English is a requirement for this promotion, it should be clearly disclosed before guests book their stay or before they spend hours attending a presentation. This would save people from wasting their vacation time and avoid unnecessary frustration. Another disappointment was the lack of activities for older children. At both Nizuc and Sunrise, there was very little for kids around 9 years old to do outside of the swimming pools. If your children enjoy activities beyond swimming, they may become bored. We came to Moon Palace expecting a relaxing family vacation, but instead we spent hours in a sales presentation and left feeling frustrated, disappointed, and misled. Based on our experience, we will not be returning to Moon Palace. I also cannot recommend this resort to friends or family. I hope Moon Palace becomes more transparent about its promotions and treats all international guests with equal respect, regardless of the language they speak.

The spa was fantastic, offering step-by-step guidance through the dry sauna, steam room, and both warm and cool pools-such a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. Dining options were excellent, with several restaurants to choose from, including Mediterranean, Mexican, buffet, Asian, sushi, steakhouse, and American cuisine. Our room was fantastic, with a rainfall shower, comfortable beds, prompt housekeeping, 24-hour room service, and turn-down service. We also enjoyed live entertainment and a night club on the property, yet it remained wonderfully quiet when we wanted to relax. We loved the aromatherapy --it was such a thoughtful touch. The location is very convenient: close to a pharmacy, just across the street from a shopping mall with a mix of upscale and casual dining and shops, and only 10-15 minutes from Cancun's vibrant club zone. This is not a party resort. When we were there, there was a karaoke night and a DJ in one of their lounges, but it was never crowded and the events ended early or people just left early. The 1st room we stayed in was HORRIBLE! We couldn't sleep. There was a loud rumbling sound coming from the huge air conditioning units right outside balcony. Ear plugs did not help. We talked to 3 other people also complaining about the noise from their rooms also. We were so thankful to Eileen/Aileen at the front desk for moving us. She let us view 3 rooms that were available. We went from a partial ocean view room with a king bed on the 2nd floor to a garden view (actually just the alley with trees) with 2 queen beds on the 1st floor. There was no noise whatsoever! Yaaaay! The person booking excursions could be more friendly. He seemed uninterested and looked bored. Whenever we saw him speaking to other guests, he really looked bored or tired. ONE STAR for the spa. We arrived 15 minutes early for a couples massage. My husband was led to the men's side and I was taken to the women's side. The young lady leading the way, paused at the locker room but led me directly to the quiet room. I was fully dressed and had all my belongings with me. Everyone else was in robes. Why wasn't I given a locker to store my things and a robe to change into??? I was so upset and felt so out of place. When my husband met me in the quiet room he was as confused as I was as to why I was still fully dressed. We were led to the massage room and I asked AGAIN about changing into a robe and storing my things. One of the masseuses said I didn't need to. WTF? So I undressed and piled my clothes onto an ottoman. I could not relax. The music was too loud and inappropriate. Why are you playing music with someone singing loudly? When it was over, it took me a while to calm down. We paid for shit service?! We came back and spoke to Jessica at the desk. She was also confused and concerned about the whole lock and robe ordeal. She offered a discounted spa treatment the next day but we were leaving. I wouldn't have taken it anyway. Overall, the staff was AMAZING! Please recognize them! They worked really hard to make our stay enjoyable. Get to know the staff and tip them well. Thank you to Jose at Egos who made sure our hands always had a drink in them; Carlos at Varenna for the house special cocktails; Miguel who took care of us while we relaxed on the beachside cabana. He was so attentive, personable and funny. Alejandro at the poolside bar made us laugh, Israel at Azur for the honest feedback when we had questions about the dinner menu, and Cesar at Hidden Garden who helped us figure out what was what in the darkness of the dining area. One that note, why is it so dark at Hidden Garden during the dinner service? We had to use the flashlights on our phones to read the menu and see our food. Fernando at the Siete breakfast buffet was awesome! We watched him smoothly take care of so many tables. We never felt neglected despite all the tables and people he was tending to. Lulu (Lou Lou?) is AMAZING, FUNNY and ENTERTAINING! We were lost the 1st night we arrived. He stopped what he was doing to personally escorted us to Azur in the darkness, around all the pools. We ran into him several times during our stay. He always made sure we were ok and having a good time. His energy is unmatched! Thank you to Omar, from the Concierge desk. He welcomed us when we arrived and gave us so much information about the resort. It seemed like he works everywhere. We saw him at different places in the resort. Maryam from the Concierge Desk! She was an angel. She really listened to all of our concerns. She was so friendly and funny. Even when our stay was over and we were waiting for our ride, she offered drinks and food to take with us to the airport. She definitely put a smile back on my face.

My husband, our child, and I were invited by my amazing mother-in-law, who introduced us to this beautiful resort. We had no idea just how incredible the experience would be. From the moment we checked in, we were blown away. The resort is absolutely massive, but everywhere you look there's something fun to do. Whether you want to relax or stay busy all day, you'll never run out of options. The food was one of the biggest surprises. With more than 10 restaurants serving everything from Mexican, Italian, Asian, Lebanese, and steakhouse favorites, every meal was delicious. One thing I always tell people is that none of us got sick during the entire trip, which gave us so much peace of mind. Our family loved the water park, lazy river, wave pool, bowling alley, arcade, and the nightly entertainment. There were so many activities that every day felt like a new adventure. And when my husband and I wanted a little quiet time, we escaped to one of the adults-only pools where we enjoyed amazing food, drinks, and a peaceful atmosphere while our child had a blast with the family activities. One question I get asked a lot is about the seaweed. Like many Caribbean destinations, Cancun experiences seasonal sargassum, and Mother Nature is always unpredictable. What impressed me was how much effort Moon Palace puts into keeping their beaches clean. They use an offshore floating barrier, collection boats, and crews that work every day to remove seaweed and groom the beaches. You can tell they truly care about giving guests the best experience possible. This was installed 2020 after our 2018 trip. We also visited this location again in 2025 after it was installed. Looking back at these memories brings a huge smile to my face. This trip wasn't just about staying at a beautiful resort--it was about spending quality time with family, making unforgettable memories, and experiencing a level of service that kept us wanting to come back. If you're looking for a luxury all-inclusive resort that's perfect for families but also has plenty of places for adults to unwind, Moon Palace The Grand is definitely worth considering. Here's to the first of many unforgettable trips to paradise!

Checkin was a breeze and we were shown an area to get something to eat and drink right away. Then shown to our rooms. Two large room with 2 queen beds. They were very comfy to sleep in, along with nice pillows and bed covers. Lots of drawer and hanging cloths storage. The bath room had a double sink. Bottled water, body lotion, shampoo, conditioner & body lotion were provided. There was the most powerful hair dryer I had ever used! To the right was a large area with a big frosted door that opened to a huge soaking tub and an over head shower. The bath tub had lots of hot water but the shower only got luke warm. To the left was another frosted door that opened to the toilet.  Each room had a balcony. Large TV. Fridge stocked with a variety of drinks that were refilled every day. There were also a variety of snacks. Each day Enrique or Ivan would check in on us to see if there was anything they could do for us. Before ending their shift, they would again ask. They were great and we loved their service. We ordered room service for one day, as none of us had ever done that before. We put our order in with Enrique and in the morning it was delivered at the time we requested. We made all our dinner reservations thru Enrique or Ivan also. There was one main dining area, The Gourmet Marche' with more food and variety than we could of imagined. From main dishes to salads, breads, desserts, drinks....you wouldn't go hungry! Our little ones especially enjoyed the chocolate fountain where they dipped marshmallows. A variety of resturants, from sushi (the best I have had anywhere!) to steaks. All of the food was amazing. There was an outdoor place called Nibbles where you could again get a nice variety of food for lunch. Two areas where you could get burgers and fries. I think also chicken strips. A place for ice cream and gelato, also desserts. A coffee cafe where you could order speciality drinks. There was also a coffee bar for regular coffee where you could help yourself. And another that had a machine with lattes and other coffees - again helping yourself. Also desserts, bagels etc.  Almost forgot to mention the pizza - it was delicious! They made their dough right there and toppings were added, then baked in a wood fired dome. Lots of birds around but never saw one fly! Outdoors, the pools went on forever. Lots of places to sit or lay out with umbrellas. You could go up to the bars and order a huge variety of drinks or one of the many waiters or waitresses would take your drink orders. Tipping was not required but we did tip them. There was a swim up bar with stools where you sat in the water.  Lots of activities all day long - water volley ball, water exercise. One day there was a foam machine and everyone loved that! Long white balloons were given out and adults and kids were having fun with those. Another day there was a water balloon fight, where groups on either side of the volley ball net. Water balloons were flying as fast as anyone could grab one! After that we all got a pineapple with the top cut off and filled with a watermelon drink. Lemons, limes and other fruit made up faces on each one. There were two lazy rivers. One with large tubes for floating and the 2nd you just floated in. The current in the 2nd one really moved you along. There were plenty of water slides for adults or kids. The littles had 4 slides. They would end up in the water with lots of smiles and giggles. The adult one also had several. You had to carry your 2 or 4 person raft to the top and down you came.  Tho we were right on the beach not many ventured out there. They were having an issue as many other beach areas with the seaweed. Just long rows of it all along the beach and it stinks. Even tho it was always quite breezy we never smelled it up at the pool areas. Every night there was entertainment on the outdoor stage with lots of chairs and room to dance.  We left on the 15th and check out was once again a breeze. We had been given bracelets the 1st day we arrived. They were little oval discs that we worn the entire time. You used them to gain entry to your room. Know this is a long review but there was just so much and all of it was amazing. The staff were friendly, helpful, always saying hello as you passed by. There were little kisoks where you could get info on other services but no one hasseled you. Oh and several nice stores to shop in. Would advise taking water floats if you have little ones, as they ran $15.00 and up. And childrens tylenol.....$48.00 for a 4 oz bottle.  I would highly recommend the Royalton Spash and look forward to visiting some of their other resorts. We came from Oregon USA. Customs going into Mexico and back into the US was a breeze.

If I could give this place a 0, I would. The utmost horrid vacation experience ever…read more This was my first vacation with my kids--something years in the making--so this trip was a big deal. The Booking: I was trying to book Royalton Splash through the Royalton website. When I clicked a promo, it redirected me without me realizing I was no longer booking Splash. I ended up booked at Riviera Casino instead. What am I gonna do with my little one at a casino property? I called several times--no answer. Emailed--no response. Finally, customer service told me they couldn't move my reservation, even though they're sister properties. Their solution? Buy day passes for Splash at $150+ per person. Had the booking gone where I intended, it would've been included. Clear money grab. Two Jr. Suites for four days cost me about $3,000. The Shuttle: I paid $80 for a private shuttle through the resort. It wasn't there when we arrived. You ask for all my flight information but still have me standing outside waiting? That's not private shuttle service. Check-In: There was one couple ahead of us, plenty of employees behind the desk, but only one person actually checking guests in. We waited over 30 minutes. While we're standing there exhausted, the concierge immediately starts pitching us the "90-minute" membership presentation before we've even seen our rooms. The next morning I decided I wasn't interested anymore. That's when the pressure started. The concierge told me someone was already waiting for me and acted like I was obligated to go. Then, magically, she's sitting outside my room the next morning after telling me the day before her desk was in the lobby. She walks us to her manager, who continues trying to convince us with coupons that still required us to spend money. That "90-minute" presentation turned into almost FOUR HOURS of my vacation. They start trying to sell memberships costing $10,000-$20,000, then work their way down to $299 packages when you keep saying no. We had literally just arrived and hadn't even had a chance to enjoy the resort. The vouchers weren't even worth it. The concierge failed to tell us the spa voucher had limited booking hours, and by the time we found out, everything was booked. We never used any of the coupons. Restaurants & Food: The website says you can make reservations in the app. Lies. Most reservations are blocked unless you go through a concierge or upgrade to a butler. In four days, we got into ONE reservation-only restaurant. The buffet was nasty. Cold food, hard desserts, pizza tasted like plastic, steaks were tough, and even the Pepsi was clearly Diet Pepsi being passed off as regular. Hunter Steakhouse was decent. Go there every day if you can. Managers even suggested slipping the host money to get into restaurants. One employee shrugged and said, "It's Mexico," like that somehow made it okay. Room service is limited and mostly buffet food. The bottled water in the room tasted awful. The Room: "Ocean View" is really a peek-a-boo view. If you actually want to see the ocean, book Oceanfront. The jacuzzi tub was filthy when we arrived. Housekeeping: They paid more attention to organizing my cellphone charger than actually cleaning. The jacuzzi was never cleaned, the sink still had shaving clippings after housekeeping came, and the refrigerator wasn't restocked. Why would I tip for that? The Property: They push those expensive cabanas even though most of them sat empty. The free chairs stay covered in dirty towels and dishes, so you can't even tell what's available. They brag about food trucks--I saw one. Their "quesadilla" was a hard tortilla with nasty cheese. Straight violation, especially in Mexico. The property itself is dirty. Room service trays sit in the hallways overnight, raccoons come eat off them, there are spills everywhere, and the resort smells bad throughout most of the property. The only area that smelled clean was the lobby. Lastly, when I asked the concierge about a late checkout, I was basically told to go deal with the front desk myself. I guess once they realized we were leaving, it was just the hell with us. For the amount of money this resort charges, none of this should be acceptable. Between the misleading booking, constant upselling, poor food, lack of restaurant access, dirty rooms, bad housekeeping, and wasted vacation time sitting through a sales pitch, I would never stay here again or recommend it to anyone.

Check-in was amazing. We upgraded to the Serenity Package so we got a separate lobby check-in area which included a snack bar, a private bar where they were ready to serve us drinks while we waited for our room keys, etc. The workers that got set up with our rooms were fantastic and got us ready to get to our rooms quickly. Upon check-in we gave our bags to the waitstaff and they made sure they were ready in our room once we checked in which was awesome. The resort itself is simply fantastic. There are a ton of restaurants and bars to check out, shows to see on a nightly basis, and just a ton of property to explore in general. Everything was pristine and pleasant. The employees were INSANELY kind here. And it wasn't even seemingly forced - everybody here seemed to enjoy their jobs and they were so attentive, personable, and kind. It made the experience that much more special. The food was actually so good - I saw so many reviews claiming that it wasn't that great but we were pleasantly surprised. Room service menu was so solid (esp after a day full of tequila shots...) and I LOVED that they have a cool little room service cubby where they place your food so you don't even have to answer the door late at night! We absolutely loved the Vista restaurant (Serenity Club only). The shrimp tacos and ribeye tacos were SUPERB. My dad was craving a shrimp ceviche and they only served veggie ceviche, but they got our room info and made sure that they had specially made shrimp ceviche for us the next day. Not only was it DELICIOUS, but they were expecting us and knew exactly that we were the group ready for the shrimp ceviche! The nightclub (Moons Cabaret) is a little on the small side, but it's fun for a quick show/dancing moment before bed. The bar gets a little busy, but that's to be expected. My husband and I also indulged in the spa and absolutely loved our treatment! We did the hydro hot/cold experience and it was fantastic. I'm a baby when it comes to cold water, but it was so refreshing and our spa waiter was amazing and so kind. Highly recommend. ABOVE ALL, the highest of my kudos go to our butler/concierge, Miguel. With the Serenity Club package you're given a butler/concierge that you communicate with via WhatsApp and he helped up with EVERYTHING the entire trip - and even became a friend. He made all of our dinner reservations, replied to all room requests, and even helped me on my quest for my lost glasses (LOL, another story for another time). Miguel made our stay the most seamless experience ever and he was so funny, kind, and caring. I literally can not say enough good things about him. If I found that Miguel took his talents to another resort, I would visit that resort just for him. I highly suggest upgrading to the Serenity package just for the chance of being introduced to him! We were looking forward to this trip for nearly a YEAR and it lived up to every expectation. There are so many things that I left out that I could talk about all day - just know that if you are vacationing here, you will NOT regret it.

The food was absolutely delicious no matter where we ate at. Olios was probably our favorite but it was hard to choose. The taco station out by the pool was incredible too. Just simple tacos but the flavor was high quality! Pools - We chose a swim up room because that's the vibe we were going for during this trip. Party pool was really nice (not as crazy as other places we've been to). Their biggest pool is the "quiet" pool and because this resort is so close to the water, the view is incredible! Bars - Drinks are flowing wherever you go! Great pours, creative specialty drinks, and a wide variety of alcohol Service - Top tier! All of our wait staff and bartenders were fantastic. Even the people that turned over our room twice during our stay were very nice and respectful. Rule of thumb for any place you're staying at is be friendly and treat others nice, and you get it back in return x10. A couple bartenders got to know us so well that they would bring us drinks that we frequented that we didn't even ask for! Massage/spa - Probably the most unique and in depth massage/spa experiences we have ever had and will have in our lives. No phones in the spa area so I don't have any pictures. Their website doesn't do the justice. It's worth every penny and the experience from start to finish (while a long one) is absolutely worth it. Book it on a cloudy/rainy day, you won't regret it! Everything here is very walkable. Other resorts can get very big and in the heat, walking is quite the chore. Here, many things are very close to where you're at so walking from one end of the resort to the other isn't very strenuous. Overall, this would be a resort we'd come back to. There's many resorts in Cancun but this one stands out above many others!

Unfortunately, for the past two years, our experiences have declined significantly. The hotel no longer maintains the level of service and standards we once loved. The atmosphere feels different, the staff are not as welcoming, and there is a noticeable lack of attentiveness and care. During this stay, we had a particularly unpleasant two-day experience at the beach regarding the setup of lounge chairs and umbrellas. Rather than going into every detail, I will simply say the situation was handled poorly and left us very disappointed. What was most upsetting was that no meaningful effort was made to resolve the issue or make up for the inconvenience. Even after speaking with Guest Relations, who mentioned contacting the General Manager, nothing improved the following day. No accommodation or gesture was offered, which was surprising given the hotel's luxury positioning. It is also noticeable that the property feels quite empty during weekdays, except on special occasions or long weekends. Even then, the warmth and hospitality we once associated with this hotel seem to be missing. That said, I want to sincerely recognize Valenzo, who served us daily. He was professional, kind, and incredibly attentive. We never had to ask for anything, he would notice small details, like refilling ice before we even realized it was melting. His service was outstanding and he truly tried to make our stay better. Thank you, Valenzo. You made a difference. It is genuinely sad to see a place that once meant so much to us lose its standard. We hope management takes guest feedback seriously and invests in retraining staff to restore the level of service this property was once known for.
