I've been coming here since I was in undergrad at UF and they always knew stuff coming and going so there's always a variety of places to try. We tried Baba's Pizza which had a good $6 deal of a big slice of pizza and a drink. The Halal House was really GOOD though. It was very tasty, and had tons of options to customize your bowl.

You have to eat 3 meals a day here to make it worth it, and I promise you'll get sick of it. Stations are frequently closed, and the parts that actually have decent food usually have a wait. It has standard cafeteria vibes, and is always a bit greasy feeling. The one thing I'd say this place is great for is if you need to pull a study marathon. You can come in the morning and pay one price for a full day of food as you get your work done. Especially when libraries are packed during finals, this is a great option.

The food here in the dining hall is pretty good and is at least always fresh. When you walk in you are first greeted with the person taking money, swipes, or your first born child. You then walk over and there are different stations you can visit and get food. They have a grill station, salad bar, traditions area, sandwich station, usually a pasta area, and a dessert area as well. I like going days they have fried chicken or burgers, The pizza is just okay but they do make some other ones. The omelet area is pretty good but sometimes the line is really long. I have only ever been here for lunch never dinner. The dessert area is okay but they do make custom made coffee drinks and do have ice creme. Good place for lunch on campus here at UF!

I really don't expect gourmet food from a Maki of Japan in a mall. The portions are really great. I…read morealways find I have enough leftovers to make a separate meal. I recommend ordering the chicken since the chef tops your order with A LOT more meat than if you ordered other meats such as shrimp. Half and half is also an option if you can't choose between noodles or rice. There is room for improvement from what I've seen. The side vegetables are usually pretty cold since they sit on the (cold) stove for a while before being served. I vaguely remember that at other Maki of Japan's that the vegetables would at least be half heartedly fried up. The ordering system here can get confusing since they stick toothpicks (no names) to identify the different types of meat/sides for each order. This food court can get pretty busy at times so it's easy to lose track of which order is yours if you turn away even for a second. (I'm pretty sure the lady behind me in line mistakingly took my order..). The service is really average. When I came here a few months ago the chef was actually being kind of invasive and asking me lots of strange questions. He kept making comments to the point where I felt kind of uncomfortable at his advances and had to step away from the counter to hide at a table. He hasn't been there the more recent times I've been to Maki of Japan, however. All in all, an average Maki of Japan with very average (and sometimes creepy) service. There are better options in this food court if you're not craving teriyaki.

The shrimp was cooked perfectly and there was a (what seemed to be) mayo based sauce inside. The slaw was nice, though if it was a bit sweeter it may have been even better. The nachos are my go-to. The Guac and sour cream on top is my favorite part and it's always super fresh. The staff are always super friendly and service is fast! It's a seat-yourself order at the counter type of place. I have ordered via the drive-through, in person, online and by phone. Each time the customer service was up to standard. (Props for dealing with college kids all day and still being professional even at the end of the day) I've only ordered one thing and it's been so good that I keep coming back for it. The chimichanga platter. Me Gusta la chimichanga, la Comida es Muy Bien. With a drive-through on both sides, outdoor covered outdoor seating arrangements. The building is fitting for a Mexican joint you would encounter say in LA. The bang for your buck is my favorite part. I get a very heavy plate with tasty food. A bag of freshly made in house corn chips and salsa! Just don't forget to grab the packaged salsa Verde y Rojo on your way out In terms of Mexican food in Gainesville. At the time of me writing this review there is no other Mexican restaurant that gives you as much food for the same price. (La Tienda yes I'm talking to you ) This restaurant is a cornerstone of GNV and all residents should try it at least once.
