My go to if I'm near Gainesville! The restaurant is unassuming from outside, but once you enter the dining room is decorated to theme and the patio overlooks a large pond with gators. The menu is extensive, you can get everything from stir fry to curries to fresh sushi, and there are plenty of vegan options to choose from. We had spicy margaritas, they were delicious and a bargain at $8 each! My pad Thai was delicious. There wasn't the option to select a spice option and none of the entrees leaned spicy, but sriracha was provided on request. I ordered the General Tso shrimp, which came with a side of rice, and the portion was huge..so generous that I happily had leftovers for lunch the next day. The dish was packed with big, crunchy battered shrimp (seriously, not skimpy at all) tossed in a bold, flavorful General Tso sauce. It had the perfect balance of savory and slightly sweet heat, with pineapple chunks, onions, and peppers mixed in for a fresh, vibrant contrast. Every bite tasted intentional and satisfying. I also tried the chicken spring rolls, which were crispy on the outside and hot and savory inside..classic, comforting, and well-seasoned. And the boba Thai iced tea? Absolutely amazing. It was rich, creamy, and deeply fragrant with that signature Thai tea spice, perfectly sweet without being overwhelming. Great food has always been the case going back to my first visit 12 years ago. Today we started with the fried calamari - tender, mildly flavorful and a generous portion. I had the Fried Shrimp special ($28) which posted on the board. The plump shrimp were cooked perfectly, very tasty with firm flesh. Large portion, served with a yum yum sauce which was good and a bowl of fried rice with little pieces of egg, no veg, not overcooked, not much flavor. My wife had the Mi zao gion: crispy noodles with fried tofu, broccoli and carrots. She throughly enjoyed the dish. Service was great. The best parts about this place are the appetizers and the view. In the two hours I was here, I only saw my waiter three times, and spent a lot of time waiting for my order to be taken. The meal itself wasn't great, I tried bits of my friends dishes and the fried food was soggy, the soup was sour, and the hibachi was only egg, chicken, and rice (no veggies and sparse seasoning.) This place has the BEST Asian food in the area!!! The menu is large--from sushi to pad Thai, you can order pretty much anything. The pad kee mao is my favorite but the sushi, hibachi, and pho are all stellar. It seems like almost every dish is customizable (you can choose your meat, spiciness level, etc). Many vegetarian and pescatarian options. They also serve a variety of beverages, both alcoholic and nonalcoholic. The restaurant itself has a lot of character. If you arrive before the sun starts setting you can eat on the outdoor patio that overlooks the lake. There's also plenty of parking. The servers/staff are so friendly and knowledgeable. We've had JD as our server a few times and he rocks :) This is an authentic local restaurant, so be prepared for some slower service and cook times. We typically wait a little bit longer to receive our food (compared to other restaurants in the area) but the wait is SO worth it. read more

I just wanted to say THANK YOU!! My bf introduced me to this place because he loves it, and i will confess it's the only real food restaurant in ALL of Gainesville. This is a business ran by family and friends, but managed like the military. When you visit or order pickup, it's not like your regular fake Asian spots in town. You are being served by people who take pride in cooking only the best, be it their Four seasons meal, or freshly fried and still steaming Thai lemon garlic wings. As a customer, you have the chance of not only meeting but being served by the owner (Gorgeous lady albeit a little scary). You get the Authentic decor, with pointed artisan hats hanging from the rooftops, the Asian (for lack of exact or better term) statue gods and protectors stationed all around The place. Your only warning is leave Your bad attitudes at the door. This establishment refuses to be used as a doormat unlike the American service slogan "customer is always right" Which leaves the door open for a lot of abuse in businesse. They will block your number or refuse you business if you are rude because they know who they are and the value of their presence in town. Don't take that for granted. Also, I got some beef soup today cause I was pretty sick the past couple of days. OMG. It cleared up my sinuses, one of my ear's popped which is good because they were both blocked. I went there for dinner last night with a friend and she had never been before. She absolutely fell in love with the vibe of the restaurant all the beautiful lights, the view of the water, service is fast and friendly, and then once our food and drinks came , her experience got even better!! Today, I ordered lunch from there also because last night it was just so good. I ordered the lemon garlic chicken wings and oh my god! I can't believe I haven't ordered them before. My friends weren't as pleased with their orders, but mine was truly delicious. I just wish the prices weren't quite so high. The atmosphere is nice, and if you come earlier in the day you can sit outside on the water. The service was pretty good, though a bit slow, possibly just because it was crowded. He didn't smile once and looked pissed off that I came in and said I would like to sit outside please. While walking outside he didn't hold the door and he almost smacked me in the face with it. The waitress we had didn't smile once and made me feel like I was annoying her when I asked her questions about the menu. Then when I had to pay the bill I had to deal with the grumpy guy in the grinch shirt again. I don't know why he was so mad and mean but it made me not want to come back here again and that sucks because I like the food and drinks here. You all really need to tell the first person your costumers see and talk to to smile and be nice! He was checking out multiple older ladies in front of me before I paid my bill and they were all smiling and saying thank you and he just kept looking at them like he was pissed off and like they did something wrong! If this was my business I would be having the person checking people out smiling saying "How was everything?" "Thank you for coming" not looking and acting like he would rather be punching your costumers in the face instead of taking payment from them. Food was tasty but seriously detracted by the indifferent service. after all this the cashier was absolutely the very worst! he acted as if he hated his job and hated every customer unless he got a tip above and beyond that stated on the Checks. Gratuity was included because we had a party of five or higher. It's as if he was expecting an additional tip on top of that already posted. one of the people ahead of me requested change back-he quite literally grabbed the bills and threw it on the counter. Those of waiting in line were aghast. This man should not be working there. Someone needs to oversee the entire operation and ensure this type of behavior and the service issues are addressed. When we arrived, there was hardly any parking. After dining, we understood exactly why. The food was fantastic, and everyone was very friendly. They seemed the be handling the consistent table turnaround very well. We ordered bang bang shrimp for our starter, and oxtail soup and Thai house seafood for entrees. We were sold on our first bite into that colossal sized shrimp, covered in that sweet and savory bang bang sauce. The fried batter was perfect as for my ideal flavor and texture. The oxtail soup reminded me of a pot roast or stew in terms of flavor and left me no room for dessert. Not only was the food delicious, the service was fast and attentive. I have only ever gotten Chopstix's takeout, never actually having sat inside for table-side service. What I can say is that the portion sizes were pretty large for the price, which impressed me for takeout. The pad Thai was about average in flavor but heavy on the bean sprouts. I also got an almond boba tea, which is rare to find. It was creamy and had great flavor. I would check out Chopstix again but give them a try eating in-person. read more

I usually like to try different things each time I visit a restaurant, but this is one of the few spots where I can't resist ordering the same thing every time. There are more tables out on the patio these days, but other than that it is the same, right down to the servers, one of which recognized me despite my not having been to the restaurant in years. This restaurant serves a variety of Asian dishes, and in my experience the food has always been quite good. This time around, I went for an appetizer of the summer rolls, a bowl of the Tom Yum soup, and finally a main course of the Thai Red Curry, maximum heat level. The summer rolls were good, even though they were served with a sauce that I was not expecting... pretty sure it was a ponzu based sauce, and not the usual peanut sauce they usually come with. No problem there, I still enjoyed it. The Tom Yum soup was excellent as always. I have been getting this soup at Chopstix for the aforementioned twenty years now, and it has never failed to delight me. Some people experience a mental euphoria when eating it, but I have always just enjoyed the dickens out of it. The curry... well, this was sadly a bit of a miss. It wasn't even close to a 10 on the spice scale, more like a two. Our wait staff provided me with a jar of the house chili sauce, which I used to bring it up to a six or seven, and when she found that wasn't really enough she promised me next time she would get them to use her chilis instead. From the awful smell that was lingering to our server who appeared to look unprofessional when it came to serving us and he spilled my water on my seat/table and it went all over the floor. I went here for a co workers birthday lunch and I was trying my best to not think of all of things that made my stomach turn and the thought of eating here OMG... when the server came I was immediately turned off-there was no way he was bringing the food out to us, but when seen another last I felt more comfortable but apparently they kept switching off; he was the guy who brought out my food and while I barely ate the salad, I was so uncomfortable the whole time; I got sushi as my "lunch" and it was so overpriced to me-literally ate a few pieces before giving it to my boss to take home.
