The lady at self checkout is always crabby. She seems like it's an inconvenience to assist any buddy. This isn't the first time she's treated me this way. It's every time I go in the store. I'm not sure why she's so difficult. But perhaps she needs a new job. I've heard she's been one of the longest employees. I guess that gives her safety if management were doing their job. I went in to the pharmacy today to drop off my prescription. I stood at the window for a few minutes and was never acknowledged by the clerk that was just a few feet from me. She then left her computer and walked over where there were 2 additional ladies all within a few feet from me. Not one of them ever acknowledged me. I finally just left. Shopping at the City Market on Patterson Ave. in Grand Junction is beyond frustrating. Their 'new' self check-out is so convoluted, it takes 5 times as long to check out than any other self check-out I've dealt with. It has a conveyor belt that indiscriminately moves forward and back, and sends scanned items 4 feet away to pile up. I attempted to ask for help from a clerk. She was very rude and told me that there was only one cashier available who she was bagging for. It was 10 in the morning and the store was very busy. A young man did finally come and helped finish the transaction. I had paid but the keypad wouldn't acknowledge the payment. After he pressed several different keys in a sequence that only a CM employee would know, it did finally show that it had taken my payment. It's very disappointing to shop at a store where the employees are so rude and not at all helpful. read more

The managers at 24 road City Market are rude and disrespect and treat employees like shit. The front and manager Bethany needs to be fired because she is not fit to be a fun manager manager at all. This store is terrible, and gets worse everytime I go there. The store is always crowded, shelves are empty, they moved the bathroom to the BACK of the store, obviously not for customer convenience, and is it very poorly maintained. I don't know what is wrong with this store. Even the employees seem unhappy. Pick up carts are constantly in the way, as well as vendors parked in the aisles. Easily the nicest City Market in Mesa County. Large, clean, and well-stocked. A far cry from the sad little City Market in Fruita! This store has a wide variety of options , including a decent organics section (although, why are you always out of organic half and half?) While Grand Junction can use more grocery options besides CM and Sprouts; this particular store is our hands-down favorite for our big shops. We drive here from Fruita at least once a week and will continue to do so. read more

I went to the trouble of scheduling an appointment for a flu shot. When I arrived there must've been at least 10 people in line in front of me all waiting to get checked in and the check in process was taking well over five minutes each so I turned around and left . I can't begin to express how much I love this store. It's like a real grocery store in a real town! The selection, food quality, atmosphere, and lighting are all excellent, unlike any other store in town. The cheese department is outstanding; they have a fromager! Yes, a fromager, a cheese expert who cuts cheese from the huge variety of wheels they have on hand. The fish department is also excellent, and doesn't stink like the other fish departments in this town, what a revelation! The produce is the freshest in town and beautifully displayed. The way this place is managed, makes no sense at all. Instead of stocking at night or early in the morning, they do it during the busiest times during the day. Can't view what's in the aisle due to the boxes and carts in the way, not to mention getting a handicap scooter through. Their produce that they advertise as "fresh every time," has been anything but for the past two years. read more

The aisles were never designed for the amount of traffic they get. The prices are HIGH. Having to use digital coupons for all their sales is frustrating and archaic. Why not just put items on sale? I work hard for my money - why do they make you work so hard to save at their stores? Produce quality (supermarket) used to be the best in the valley and that hasn't happened in a long time. Their online "shoppers" have huge carts that seriously impact the business of people who are shopping in person. I have been shopping more at Walmart and Target and Sam's club - way more relaxing and better prices. read more

Pharmacy system is horrible at all city Market locations as well as Walgreens. Grand junction pharmacies have severely disappointed me and left me without medications on multiple occasions. I've written HR and nothing improves. I used to be a nurse so I know I need to stay on top of it but they give me the run around saying they've contacted my doctor and when I call the doctor, they haven't heard a word. This place is soooooooo busy! Being from the Phoenix area I am used to having grocery stores on every other corner. Not here in Grand Junction and Fruita. Be prepared. It feels like a holiday every time you come in. The scary thought is how bad is it on a real holiday, say the day before Thanksgiving. I also believe the prices to be more than my home grocery store. Otherwise it is the typical grocery store. Has everything I need or want. Just at slightly higher prices. This place is A okay as the main store. Finally!!!!!!!!! A grocery store on the west side of Grand Junction!! We've been waiting for this for the past 6 years since living in NW GJ. Nice store, well laid out and good selection. The only place it gets a little confusing is in the hygeine selection, some things are in a regular aisle, and some things are in the special section, then they have even more in the "natural" section. I don't care how far away I live from this place, I will drive past all of the other City Markets and Albertsons and come straight here. I might even just come to walk around, test some cheese and meats, and be surrounded shopping glory. The other day I had a very informed lady behind the seafood counter that was so helpful in deciding what to get, and what more economical options I had. Favorite part of City Market: Bread! In general, their bread is hands down the best for the buck, which is awesome, considering how cheap it really is! They also have a Starbucks for those who like to drink, shake, n shop. Note: If you're coming in from 24rd, you CANNOT take a left into the parking lot. You either have to take a left at the light and enter from Paterson, or turn into the movie theater before the grocery store and go the back way into the lot. (Recommended) read more

Love this City Market. Quality is great, generally well-stocked, and the people are super friendly. Read the review by the guy whose wife was trying to buy a six pack and they refused to sell because he didn't have his wallet with him. We had something similar happen. Had my 20 year old son with me and was buying a six pack at the self check out. The clerk questioned me intensely about who I was buying the beer for. Felt insulted by the encounter. In the end, I convinced her it was for my husband and me, but I found it all rather off-putting. This was a while ago and I hope they have toned things down a bit. I may be confused, as there's more than one City Market in that area, but the new large one is a very, very nice store. One of the nicest grocery stores I have seen anywhere. And it's Kroger, which means it's going to be better than any Safeway or Albertsons by a mile. Nice produce, nice meat and fish counter, good selection and decent prices. I make a routine of looking for Kroger stores as I am traveling the west in my RV, from Washington State through Oregon, Nevada, Utah, Colorado and Wyoming and so on. read more

This actually gets ZERO stars for pharmacy. But in order to rate I had to choose 1 Star. I will NEVER EVER fill a prescription with you again! Twice waiting on meds to find out once by calling to check since I had no word that insurance declined so not filled. Second time go in to pick up at store to find out exact same thing. No call to me either time to advise. Excuse used was they called doc office. Sadly both times were weekend and now Christmas Eve. Shame on you City Market. Shame on you. I drive in to Grand Junction from out of town, and usually choose City Market as one of the stores from which I buy groceries. At any City Market, I make it a practice to check prices as my items are scanned, as the in-store deals, the value card discounts, and now the digital coupons often get the prices wrong. When I was shopping on 7/27/18, I was closer to the 24 Rd. City Market than 12th St., which is where I usually go. During this one experience at this store, I saw an employee who was re-stocking items pick a bunch of unwrapped lettuce up off of the floor and put it back, saying to another customer, "The five-second rule, right?" I'm not sure just rinsing produce will take off whatever was on the floor that might have gotten on it. They were completely out of cod, so I ordered salmon instead, which was wrapped in just brown paper with parts of the fish hanging out either side. I asked for it to be re-wrapped so if it leaked it wouldn't get all over my car. The person bagging my groceries put seven cans/jars of food in one bag, which tore open when I was unloading. Fortunately, the two glass jars in the bag didn't break on my driveway. Finally, when I got home, I discovered that I had an extra bag of groceries that was not mine; I'm guessing a person ahead of me accidentally left it. This was way too much of a hassle to go back. read more
