I've never been so disrespected in my life at a nail salon. This is the last day i come here. Everytime i recommend these ladys to friends/family they always have a bad experience. And I feel bad nd angry for it. Other days they are fine and do great, which is why i defend them as a great place to have nails done. Though today I swear this time i've had it. You can disrespect me and tell me i should come more often because of my ingrow toe nails all u want and i'll defend myself as much as i can but when u disrespect my MOTHER uuu im really going to say something. I got my nails done with a friend I wasn't too pleased with the service I asked for half price off then every worker in the shop proceeded to tell me how I was wrong, I was the reason my nails were messed up, and they could fix it I didn't want them to fix it bc there were so many mistakes my finger glued down, the full tip of my nail not covered, and white everywhere. I set in a very uncomfortable twisted position while the man did my nails, and a lady on a cart attempted to give a 1 Start Pedicure, with no scrub, no leg massage, barely a nail cut and old polish remover. After complaining about not being confortable during my pedicure, she just scooted closer on her wheely cart, and then made a comment to the nail tech, as they both laughed, while I of corse did not know what they were saying. ;-( AKWARD!! Came here last weekend for a gel mani and gel pedi. It was full, but I got seated about 15 minutes in. There was a church service that was going on next door and you could literally hear the sermon loud and clear, which was a little weird to me, but nothing that I couldn't sit through. The place is small and it's older, so it wasn't the most relaxing environment. Van was my nail tech and she was very thorough in her job and nice, so I can appreciate that. The UV light would not stay on (it was like an automatic 10-second shut down that they kept trying to fix to no avail), so I kept having to my my hands in and out, which was a little annoying. I saw a gentleman working on acrylic nails and he did a great job, so I will definitely go back for a set if I ever get one in the future, but I'm not sure I'll go back to this location for a mani/pedi unless in an absolute time crunch. read more

I was visiting Imperial Beach and wanted to get my nails done. I looked at Yelp and saw that this was the highest rated salon close to me. When I picked my nail color for dip powder the nail tech repeatedly told me "not your color." After she pulled out nine other colors telling me "do this one" I told her I wanted the one I chose. She ended up filing my cuticles down so much with the electric sander that all of my nail beds were bleeding & swollen. 3 days later and they still hurt. Probably the worst manicure I've ever gotten, followed by the gel I got from them months ago that was honestly just as bad. I went in for dip powder and the lady put it on so uneven and clumpy it was so ugly. To make it even worse it started chipping literally hours later. I went back the next day to get it fixed and all she did was make it thicker and then put a layer of gel on top of it. She also used the drill both times to file down my nails and literally ruined my cuticles with cuts and scrapes by being aggressive with the drill. Then did not proceed to try to fix my uneven cuticles after that. Worst experience ever. I think the lady I had was Kim. Only giving two stars because she was at least nice about it. There are so many better, cleaner salons you should go to before this one. read more

I wish I could leave zero stars. I have never been treated more poorly in my entire life. To say I am upset is an understatement. I called today to ask what time the salon closed because I needed a fill, and the owner Vi, who I spoke with over the phone said she was thinking about closing early but that she could fit me in as long as I got there by 6pm. I get there with my 2 year old daughter, and she asks me to pick a color. At that same time, another woman walks in and starts to look for a nail color as well. Then the owner, Vi, comes to me and says "I have 2 people in front of you, if you would like to wait" I said "you told me to be here by 6pm" & the other woman picking a color says the same "you told me to be here by 6 too" THEN, Vi proceeds to ask me Which telephone number I called and I showed her. She responds "oh, that's not my number." But she must have not recognized me because I've been to her 2 times before. AWFUL EXPERIENCE !! If I could give 0 stars I would! I took me and my friend here to go get out nails done because the reviews were good. We get there and theirs only 3 lady's working which is fine but just shows how understaffed they are. My friend goes and sits down for a manicure while I was getting a pedicure. My pedicure was fine, but it was once I got to my manicure were things started to go downhill. I immediately saw that she was super careless with the polish. By the end of it my nails looked like they were done by my little sister. Polish was all over my cuticles and fingers. I didn't want to be a Karen but realized I would pay $58 for a job that was bad. When she told me how much it would be I told her that I didn't like them and if I could get half off. She then tried to tell me the unevenness and splotchiness was my natural nail. She tried to fix them and cut my cuticle even after I told her I needed to go and didn't have time for her to redo them. She told me "It looks alright" which I was taken aback by due to it being unprofessional and i responded with "I'm not paying for alright I'm paying for good". I told her I was not paying that much money especially now. In the end I ended up getting a discount of a whopping 7 dollars. While she still tried to convince me AND my friend it was my nails and thats why they look the way they do. Like okay??!!! Tell me why whenever i get them done anywhere else they look great. NEVER AGAIN! Horrible service! Horrible staff! Unsanitary! I can go on and on. Don't go here. read more

Went in here to get a quick gel manicure. They greeted me right away and I sat down to get started. They have a wide variety of colors which I liked. The manicure wasn't that great. She didn't push my cuticles back and she kept going back to cut and file my nails after there was already polish on them. When she was clipping the dead skin off around my nails she cut me. There were bubbles in the polish and it was applied unevenly. I didn't get the tech's name but probably wont go back. She left spots of the clear coat and polish around the edges of my nails. Doesn't look good. One of the worse manicures I've had. Im only giving it two stars because they were nice and it was cheap but skills were under par. Sorry! read more

So disappointed. I am really searching for a "home turf" nail salon and I just can't find it. So frustrating! I was thrilled the first time I came here and my nails lasted an entire month. So this time I decided to make an appointment to be sure I gave them notice because I like to do my nails done at the pedi station. When I got there they tried repeatedly to put me at the nail desk and I kept trying to explain that I made an appointment just for this reason (because I didn't want to inconvenience anyone). Ultimately, even after making my appointment and trying to be polite, they said they couldn't do my nails because they were running too far behind. By this point, my ride had dropped me off and was gone, I had waited an hour, and I had to WALK to another nail place. I was late for my evening and I have never experienced such rudeness. Their nails lasted well the first time I used them but the place isn't clean or professional, and maybe I should have known that first impressions can be deceiving. Generally liked it. The pedicure was the best massage ever in a nail place. It was clean enough and friendly enough and I didn't feel too rushed. They were willing to stay late to do my nails and to do mani pedi at once, which matters a lot to me because I get a headache for some reason sitting at a nail table. Here is the best part: they lasted a month! An entire month! This is not the prettiest place around but for nails that last a whole month, this is my new nail place. read more

I come here quite often because it is very close to my home and I have a small crazy child.. everybody is very very nice (especially to my small crazy child) and I've come here so frequently that every manicurist in the salon at some point has done my nails!! Everyone is fantastic!!!! I honestly do not have one bad or mediocre thing to say about any of them. I can recall one incident specifically that has made me a forever customer!! One day my 13 month old child was losing her cool screaming out of her mind and every single person working there was trying to soothe her and make her laugh. To me if that isn't amazing customer service then I really don't know what is!!!!! Anyways they have the most amazing shellac/gel colors even better than the ones I've seen in some other high end very expensive places (mostly nail bar in Chula vista).. and the prices are amazing!!!!! I can't find anywhere else in the whole city that will give you a wonderful gel manicure AND pedicure for around 50 bucks!!! #winning read more

Anyone who gives this place less than 5 stars are most likely people who are hard to please and often complain. I went yesterday for a gel mani-pedi for my second time. The first time was amazing. Their massages on my legs and surprisingly my arms nearly put me to sleep! Not to mention their modern massage chairs! I had Kim work on my hands and another lady (whom I forgot to ask her name) on my feet. About 30 mins after I left, I realized I had smudged my big toe and left my nail polish there (I had brought my own to try to match closest). I called them to let them know about the nail polish, and she said she'd save it for me. I was too embarrassed to say I had just smudged my toe. I went in today to pick up the nail polish and ask if they can fix my toe polish. Kim knew exactly who I was when I came in. She greeted me so happily and gave me my polish. Then, I showed her that I smudged my toe. I asked her "How much will you charge?" She just kept saying "Oooh, that's ok, that's ok. Have a seat!" After she polished it. I then smudged it AGAIN after I put on a sandal. (I dont get pedicures often...I just started regularly). I show her and she asked me to sit down again. I was so impressed with how she didnt complain or tell me "OH WELL, YOUR FAULT." She didnt even want to charge me! I was shocked! I gave her a nice tip for all her trouble. Kim, YOU ARE AWESOME!! My review will echo that of nearly every other customer: very nice people; relatively poor work. I went in for a regular manicure (my polish lasts about a week on short natural nails), and they suggested a gel/shellac. I've had them before, and was going in for an important interview for the next day, so the idea of no-chip was awesome because of the desire to look good at the meeting. I will 'invest' in a no-chip 3-5 times a year-- although slightly less damaging than acrylic nails, this type of manicure still wreaks havoc on the nail bed. No-chip/shellac manicures, when done well, should last 2-3 weeks. By the third week, usually you'll have plenty of grow out and a little wear on the tips. City Nails did a poor job, and they used the brand (not OPI shellac) that lifts within a week. The technician only let the shellac cure for about two minutes between coats- usually, it should be 5-7 minutes (a proper shellac should take 45 minutes to an hour to complete). She also didn't care to carefully paint the shellac, leaving a layer on my cuticles. Due to the layer on the skin, as the nails grew over the last week, my manicure had a rough, raised edge, that peeled the no-chip polish. Essentially, I paid twice as much for what I would have gotten with a normal polish manicure, and I was able to **peel it off by hand** yesterday at work (nerves. Needless to say, I aced the interview last week and started the job). No-chip manicures require either sanding off the shellac for removal, or soaking in 100% acetone for 10-15 minutes with foil over your fingers-- you should not be able to simply peel it off. To solidify this review? The lady seated next to me came in while my no chip was being done and said, "I don't want the 'no-chip,' again, it didn't last a week," and all of the technicians said in near unison, "We'll fix it, we'll fix it," and made sure she chose and OPI shellac color. After harping about the no-chip for about twenty minutes in broken English, the customer was informed I was receiving a no-chip too, and she turned to me and said, "Oh, no worries, yours will last two; three weeks!" If you are going to pay money for the no-chip, verify you chose an OPI shellac. Make sure you have them cure it long enough. Don't let them paint over the cuticles. Listen to the other customers who walk in after you. If you are like me and don't like wasting money, just stick with the basic services, and come back in 7-10 days. read more
