Sweet beautiful town tucked away in the beauty just outside Orlando. There is so much to see and do in Ocoee. The newly finished lakeside area is absolutely gorgeous so excited for Founders Day Festival the city will be able to show off all the work & dedication to this newly completed area..

    Its a beautiful day :)

The city has everything you need. Everything is close to home and its never a far drive to get there. People are always friendly. They mind their business. I mean unless you live in a gated community. You are always being watched . They almost gave my mother a fine because she needed to repaint her mailbox . Like seriously. The communities have a certain look that they are going for. So yes, there are rules to follow. Anyways I would recommend. I'll be moving here in a few years .

This little seal was on my ticket in the mail. BOOOOO!!

It's a great place to raise children I suppose. They give tickets like it's going out of style, so if you're in the area, you have to really drive 35 in a 35 zone. . . and they have cameras at red lights. I can't believe I got a violation for turning right on red!!!!! Even though the sign says stop here on red, there is no sign that says no turn on red. So confusing!!!!!!! Do I really have to pay this fine? Seriously! Brighthouse network has a monopoly on services in this area, so you have to deal with it. Seems as if it's a great place for families who love group sports, but if you're single like me. ..well. . .it's a nice area, but would rather be downtown or Dr. Phillips. (Please don't ask me how I got to be in Ocoee. . .story is way too long, and involves witches).

Pretty lighted signs which say Welcome to the city on colonial off of the 408 by oaks mall!

The town is well maintained, but they could work on making more public spaces and more landscaping.

Well, I was expecting the worst, but I was pleasantly surprised by what an easy experience it was!…read moreHowever, a few caveats: Definitely make a reservation beforehand, because they ask you before you even enter the building if you have one. Also, arrive 30 minutes early- for 2 reasons: parking- while there are places around the building to park on the street, good luck finding a space. I ended up simply parking in the garage- which, by the way, costs $20 for 2 hours. Also, you can leave the garage through 2 doors, but those same doors are locked from the outside, so you have to walk all the way around when you leave to get to your car. Upon entering the building, you will be asked if you have a reservation, and you will have to show it to the security guard. Once in, be prepared for airport security- removing all metal, going through a metal detector, and being wanded. For me, anyway, after that, everything was a breeze. Upon entering the 3rd floor, I was again asked if I had a reservation and had to show it to the security guard, who in turn directed me to the kiosk where I signed in and was given a paper ticket. I was given a number that corresponded to a screen. I sat down in a very uncrowded room, and a few minutes later, my number came up; they also sent me a text. I had a very pleasant agent who helped me do a name change on my social security card, and I was done in less than 10 minutes! I headed back down and got in my car, paid for parking on the way out, and was on my way!

I had a disappointing experience at the Orange County fingerprinting location in Ocoee…read more I was told I had to pay a $27 fee because I live on the "outskirts" of Orange County, even though my address is within Orange County. This felt misleading and inconsistent, as the information was not clearly explained beforehand. Additionally, the staff member assisting me was very rude and unprofessional. She gave instructions in a harsh, condescending tone that made me feel uncomfortable and disrespected. Regardless of the situation, everyone deserves to be treated with basic courtesy and respect. The office was empty at the time, so there was no reason for the rushed or dismissive behavior. I would recommend that this location improve both transparency around fees and customer service. Based on this experience, I would not return.

After reading the bottle label and the risks involved, I decided not to put it in my precious body. So what to do with it? I took it back to the pharmacy, because that's where it came from. And of course, they would not take it back. I had heard of a community drug take back program available in the Ocoee area, and since I drive by the police department frequently to pick up SBUX, I figured why not drop it off. Now, how should a person properly dispose of unused or outdated medications to prevent harm to others? I have heard of things like mix it with kitty litter and throw it in trash, and the toilet. But instead of trying to sort it all out, I decided to leave it in the drug drop box in the police department lobby after blacking out the bottle label. I think it's a great service, especially if you have medications that kids or teenagers can get into. I wonder if this works for illegal drugs. . .maybe someone who gets tricked into drug smuggling could drop the goods in and save their asses before getting caught and ruining someones life--I watch way too much "locked up abroad." FDA link on how to dispose of medication http://www.fda.gov/ForConsumers/ConsumerUpdates/ucm101653.htm Now, I do have one gripe with Ocoee. Not sure if it's police department issue. It's the photo red light ticket. I think it's more a money making venture than safety related and I was seriously angry when I ended up paying a ticket for turning right on red. It had one of those "stop here on red" signs with an arrow. I'm getting upset thinking about this right now, so I'm going to stop. Yes, quite an abrupt ending.

Even when they send me letters on a decision they are concise (which I like). I have never gone to this office without an appointment. Perhaps without an appointment it is a different experience? However, I have not received any calls or written communication regarding this sudden suspension. Whenever I've tried to follow up by calling, I've often had to wait for up to an hour to speak to someone. On one occasion, after finally reaching a representative who was about to provide me with the case worker's direct extension, the call was abruptly disconnected. I've had to start the process over, spending another lengthy period on hold, only to be told that they do not provide direct extensions and that the case worker would have to call me back. That was over a month ago, and I've been unable to reach this person in charge of my case. As a result of this suspension, I have had no income since September 2024, and I actually received an invoice for $55,000 + or -, calling it an "overpayment." It's almost unbelievable, but sadly it's all true. I have 6 medical conditions that qualify me for Social Security disability (not including the irreparable damage from the lymphoma), and I've had to make early withdrawals from my IRA retirement savings to cover medical expenses and hospital bills. This satellite office clearly requires an immediate and thorough overhaul of its customer service practices.

Facility~ 5 Stars Dickhead OPD that arrested me~ 0 Stars…read more I spent a relaxing night here a few years ago for allegedly violating article VIII section 18-411 Code 1986, 94.01 of the city ordinance, better known as "off premises canvassing". A local night club hired us to pass out free drink passes but failed to mention the law preventing it. The officer wanted to make an example out of me to show the club owners they wanted the fliering to stop. I was given no warning. It was my first (and perhaps last) time in a place of incarceration, and I must say that I was rather pleasantly surprised with the experience given the circumstances. My memory is a bit hazy--you'll have to excuse me as this was quite a few years ago. The facility was newly built, in a concrete-metal style that is elegant in its spareness and utility. It is, however, lacking in a certain fluidity. My particular cell was absolutely spic and span. A polished concrete floor and stainless steel fixtures complemented a minimal, Japanese-inspired interior. In keeping with its status as a public facility, individual dwellings were completely sealed from each other with little flow or openness betwixt them. A rolled up mat normally provides an additional level of comfort to the metal bunks lined nicely up against the walls. Staff was generally efficient and friendly. My fellow detainee's had lovely words of encouragement as this was not their first offence. A new, soft gray blanket provided much needed warmth during the morning chill. Unfortunately, I was not able to turn off the fluorescent lights at my discretion. This, however, did nothing to disturb my inability to sleep because I was still in shock from the arrest . If I were to suggest one area of improvement--the food was severely lacking. In the morning, I was given a tray containing a carton of low fat milk, generic brand cereal, mushy grits and 2 slices of white bread. While the cereal was satisfying (the milk, in particular, was very refreshing for a very parched throat), the grits were inedible. The two slices of white bread, I later learned come with every meal. 42 pieces a week in fact. With all the fresh produce that is locally available in Orlando, I felt it would represent the city better if these were available to the facility's temporary dwellers.
