We had lunch here while enjoying the downtown shops and sightseeing. It has a beautiful interior, very cool bar area. The staff was friendly, and the dress was tourist casual. I really enjoyed the perch sandwich, one in our group had the Reuban and it was really good as well. They have soups, salads, burgers and even a gluten free menu. Overall prices were fair, and it has plenty of local beers and a full bar. I would eat here again, especially if you are on the north side of town near the park.

View of the bar from Hemingway's stool. He saw that often, but his picture wasn't hung there yet.

A mainstay of the Petoskey scene, where a youthful Hemingway is said to have preferred the second stool from the left end of the bar. I had the fish sandwich, which was good and filling. The bar is extensive with a large catalogue of local microbrews. Decor is old-school extravagant. It gets crowded here; if you're willing to eat at the bar, as we were, that will work to your advantage.

Food was good, and the warm biscuits are always appreciated, but I am disappointed to see they used AI to create their drink menu. This might seem like a small gripe but with more Michigan communities being negatively affected by data centers, and my own career being threatened, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth to see a local business use it. Please consider not using AI in the future.

The beautiful bar and tin ceilings are amazing

Visiting Michigan and heard this place has a great vibe and good food. Back in the day Earnest Hemingway drank here. Other than being put on hold for a long time , I finally gave up and just went. We were seated right away and our server came over quickly and took our drink order. Not long after that, a young man came around with a tray full of warm biscuits . Warm butter too! Willow was our server and did a great job. My husband loved his fish sandwich and I had one of their burgers . French onion soup was a starter and just lovely. The cherry flavored potatoe chips that come with the sandwiches are very good! All in all, a fun dining experience .

Located in Old Town Petosky, a cozy little spot next to Pennsylvania park. The building itself was built in 1875 by Alanso McCarty and named McCarty hall. Over 100 years ago Ernest Hemingway hung out here (the Annex). The atmosphere is near perfect. It's busy, but friendly and inviting. The folks here are cheery and festive. The ambiance is enviable. Pans of biscuits are frequented through the room. Biscuits that are to die for. Especially, if you get them hot with enough melted butter! We just stopped in for a quick pick-me-up light meal, after a long day of adventure. Starting with a hummus plate that was so generous it's a meal all by itself. They also provide an over abundance of pita bread to go with. It could be the Tahiti paste-fresh garlic that gives it an incredibly unique taste. A must try. Thinking outside the box a bit, we ordered the vegetarian stir-fry and added grilled chicken. Another fabulous dish that was so large, we ended up splitting it. All-in-all, the prices are par to a bit below par for Petoskey. You definitely receive a fair amount of food for the dollar. When you add in the people, the decor and the atmosphere, you have a definite winner in the City Park Grill! 09/23

Is it possible to purchase a gift card if you live in a different state? This is where my BFF met her now husband, this is where the female side of the wedding pre-celebrated ... and it would be a perfect Anniversary gift!

I bet you can call City Park Grill to get one. I know they sell gift cards.

My friend ordered the kabob dinner and said it was good...but over $20 for some veggies is crazy. My gyro and truffle fries....honestly I should have just sent them back. This is one of the most disappointing meals I've had recently. They put a tomato paste on it that I almost requested without, but trusted it would be interesting. It literally tasted like cheap canned tomato paste. Gross and certainly doesn't blend well on a gyro. The lamb meat itself had a decent taste, but the way it is served makes it difficult to eat in a pita. Gyros are typically chopped or shaved lamb which makes it easier to eat and helps ensure you're getting more lamb per bite. Served in these strips, it was just falling apart and not blending with the feta. The fries...terrible. Just terrible. $6 to sub truffle fries which seems like too much but I hadn't had them in a long time so had to go for it. Listed in subs it simply says truffle fries, so I didn't know they were going to be covered in liquid cheese. They ARE listed in appetizers with the full description but I didn't look there until after bc I didn't order an appetizer. The cheese was awful, completely overwhelmed the TINY bit of truffle taste, and SO salty! Take a look at the picture and decide for yourself if the gyro and fries is worth $23. I eat a lot of gyros, and this being the most expensive one I've had is the worst. Heads up that they charge a service fee. Doesn't bother me as I always tip at least 20% but no one pointed that out and I'm not really sure what it's for. Does that go into the servers pocket or? Won't be going back to find out.

There are many better places in town for the same or less money. Pass. I see the Owner, who was not on site, has chosen to respond in a defensive and dishonest manner ( he's done this with other reviewers). In FACT my entree (steak au poirve at $52.00 for a bad cut of meat and fries) was inedible. I couldn't cut into it and couldn't eat it. Because I hope to *eat dinner * last night, I ordered the lobster roll , which I ate. When the bill was delivered, we we charged for my husband's entree, my lobster roll, and my inedible steak. My husband asked the waitress to remove the charge for the inedible steak. She said she could not do so without speaking to her manager, who wasn't working. She eventually returned, with the inedible steak charge removed, and the lobster roll charges remaining. My husband paid the bill together with a generous tip for the waitress. She didn't incur a financial penalty. We have the receipts. For a restaurant owner to lie and claim we'd cheated them into giving us free food is baffling. To call us "uneducated " and suggest we "cook for ourselves " because we expected food to be edible is baffling. Needless to say, nobody owes Mark a positive review for bad food. Lying about the bill is no way to run a business either. Mark can rest easily knowing we (and our friends ) will never darken his door at the Bistro again, nor his other door at his Harbor Springs restaurant. As I said, there are other fine restaurants here that produce excellent food while respecting their patrons.

To start, the atmosphere is beautiful, with the restaurant right on the harbor of Little Traverse Bay. The ambiance inside was welcoming, with the bar being connected to the outside seating. We had the ahi tuna tacos, sticky ribs, crispy shrimp bao buns, and buffalo chicken lollipops. There were so many mouth-watering shareable options that we had to just get a bunch of those. Loved every bite! The drinks were also phenomenal. I tried the moon rabbit, which ended up being one of my favorite drinks I've ever had. Gin, ginger, lime, cucumber, and sesame oil - unbelievably refreshing combination, give it a try. Overall this place was phenomenal and it will now be a must have on future trips up north!
