Mandy took the sweetest care of our 15 lb chihuahua five days a week. He was so fond of Mandy that as soon as he heard her car park in front of the house, he'd sprint from wherever he was, wagging his tail, waiting for her to open the door. Josh and Raquel set the gold standard of excellence in dog care as far as I'm concerned! I've had some great dog walkers (and some no-so-great ones) over the years, but City Pups SF gets my vote for all around BEST experience for my dog. My critter is a lively and exuberant 3-year old dalmatian mix with very high energy needs. The previous company I tried simply couldn't handle him and treated him as a behavioral problem. (In my defense, I run 4 miles with him EVERY morning before leaving for work). Josh and Raquel came to my apartment, interviewed me (and the dog!) and determined that Samson was actually a pretty great animal and just needs to channel that crazy energy with some off-leash dog walks at McLaren Park with a gang of mutt-pals. Through photographs, texts, and a couple of videos, I've gotten to see just how my dog is handling the group outings and how much he has matured and improved as a result. When I get home from work, my dog is calm and well-mannered and I'm certain it's because of City Pups. I have also seen how Raquel interacts with the dog and it is very clear that she is a trained professional, who clearly likes --and knows-- what she is doing. WE LOVE JOSH! Our dog Jimmy has been going to Fort Funston with Josh five days a week for almost two years.Our newest rescue, Tillie, has been going three days a week for about 3 months. We are so pleased with everything. Jimmy is a very energetic guy and Josh is literally a life saver. Josh not only gives the pups good exercise but trains them to have perfect recall, share their toys and exercise very good social skills. I am SO happy I found Josh when I moved to SF couple months ago! Josh takes my dog, Milo, on group walks 5 days a week. It's more like hikes/adventures and Milo ends up spending the entire morning with Josh! And he posts a lot of photos on City Pups SF Facebook page - check it out. What I love most about Josh is that he takes the time to help Milo with his recall and general social skills whenever he gets a chance on these walks. Josh is amazing! When we moved into the city, our pup had been going to doggy daycare since she was a couple months old and loved it. But we knew we could find her something more adventurous. We found Josh and he's been taking her to ft funston 4 days a week. You can tell how much josh loves the dogs just by seeing his interactions with them. Our pup loves him and goes right along with him every morning. He's been working with her on various issues and she's a much more well adjusted pup because of it. Every once in a while he'll mention he's working with her on something, without any promoting from us! If my husband isn't home when he drops our pup off, Josh'll text me saying when she's home and how she did that day. We and our dog Zoey love Josh Boutelle at City Pups SF! Josh was super professional, responsive, friendly and capable in training us and our dog Zoey. Zoey is just over 4 years old and we were having problems with her lunging at strangers during our walks, chasing bikers and joggers, pulling incessantly when walking her on her leash, going nuts whenever a delivery or postal truck pulled up in front of the house and not coming when we called her when she was off leash. I have had 4 different dog walkers since I got my french bulldog, Douglas. Josh is by far the best dog walker I have ever worked with. I would gladly recommend him to any of my friends looking for a dog walker/dog sitter. I am moving away from downtown at the end of the month and sad that Josh doesn't yet service the area I am moving to. He is always on time, cleans the sand off our dog before he brings him back, never brings sand in the house, texts us everyday after he drops him off, and posts amazing pictures of their weekly adventures. Josh has been awesome! I have a senior dog...mini dachshund (Oskar) who needs a little extra TLC and that is exactly what we get. Whenever Josh comes to the door to walk my pup he gets so excited he forgets I exist and runs out the door with him. I'm a bit of a hyper dog mommy being that I have a small older dog but I trust Josh implicitly with my little guy. Oskar comes home from his walks exhausted and content. Josh is amazing! Our doggy, cece, is regularly out of the house for what seems like 4 hours each day with josh. He picks her up around 10:30 or so and sometimes she's not back until 3:30! What a long play date!She LOVES playing in his group. She comes home totally exhausted and has several best friends there. Then she is such a little angel because all of her energy is gone. Josh is the best dog walker in town! Josh has been taken our German Shepard Buddy out since he was 6 month old and he is now 3. Buddy was a bit skittish and nervous. Josh worked with Buddy socializing him and training him not only on recall but also walking on a leash and today he is an amazing self confident dog thanks to Josh. I have watch Josh in action with his group out at Funston and he is amazing. These dog are always under his control and I have never once heard Josh raise his voice. Exercise, direction, affection and rewards. You simply cannot go wrong with this guy. Josh has been been "walking" (that's an understatement, and there really should be a better word for what he does) our dog Blue for two years, since she was six months old. What Josh brings to this enterprise is so much more than exercise. Without any direction from you, he will figure out if and what your dog's little quirks and problems are, and will work with them. Even as your dog grows and changes, Josh is sensitive to new behaviors and knows how to adapt. I've given Josh the day off and taken Blue to Funston myself on weekdays a couple of times and run into the crew. Blue usually takes off running to Josh before I even see him, which is awesome. (They have a very sweet rapport.) But what's really impressive is watching the perfectly orchestrated choreography of Josh's pack. He's really watching, stimulating, training, policing and disciplining every dog he's got. Every dog knows the meaning of the phrase "time out" or "bad decision" and responds by coming right over to go on the leash for a minute or two: no yelling, no repeating. Seriously. The level of control and personal attention is pretty amazing. And then your dog comes home happy and exhausted. What more could you want? Pictures? OK; you'll get some of those too. If you're lucky enough to live in a neighborhood he services, and you can get in... don't hesitate. read more

Josh is terrific! He walks my 1.5 year old yellow lab 5x per week and constantly works with him on recall and basic commands. A true testament to Josh, my dog waits at the top of the stairs every morning for Josh to come pick him up. Living/working in the city with a dog would not be possible for me without Josh. Additionally, Josh has done focused training sessions with me and my dog. More than anything, he teaches me tools to effectively and humanely control demand-barking, to walk with a slack leash and to stop my dog from jumping on people when he is excited. Around strangers, my dog use to be shy and timid. With Josh's help and guidance, he has overcome this and now greets every stranger on the sidewalk with a calm confidence, tail-wagging. First off, our adopted (June 2014) pup Bailey was a NorCal Family Rescue adoption (6 Stars for them as well!) who had been returned to the SPCA twice with the most recent reason being his leash re-activity towards other dogs. The NorCal Family foster mom (an angle herself) highly recommended we work with Josh given his amazing skills and talent working with challenging pups. After an hour with Josh we already had a lot of progress, confidence, and some great lessons to try out. This positive experience with Josh made it a no-brainer to continue Bailey with City Pups SF walking services. Well, I should clarify; for their "pack hiking" services. These pups as you can see from City Pups SF Facebook page are not just being walked but they are taken out to various parks and take trail hikes, open field running and even a swim on warm days! Every afternoon after his run Bailey comes home with a huge smile on this face, tongue hanging out, grabs a drink of water then promptly crashes on his bed for a nice afternoon nap. When I am working from home Raquel always keeps me informed as to Bailey's activities and his interactions with the other pups. Josh has FAR exceeded our expectations after only 2 months of walking our 2 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback Josie. This was our first experience hiring a dog walker and I could not imagine anyone better suited for the task.
