I couldn't have guests and was always cleaning up messes. I spent a good amount of time researching various trainers and nothing really clicked for me. I wanted to find a training method that was firm but kind. When I found this quote ("If you treat your dog like a human, it will treat you like a dog. If you treat your dog like a dog, it will treat you like a human") on Dan Perata's website, I was intrigued. The team was warm and transparent on our first meeting about the cost, the commitment required from me, and the results I could expect. I saw a difference in my dogs' behaviors right away. During our training time, I got to know the trainers and facility, and my dogs happily go back inside now when I leave them for boarding. I know they are in the right hands.

Thank goodness our neighbor recommended Dan Perata to us. We liked the positive training method and the focus on training us, as well as Blue. Dan and team gave us the tools to manage Blue and help him be the fantastic dog that he is. While we are all still a work in progress, we now can walk Blue without worrying about being pulled down and he is much better on leash around other dogs. He calms down more easily when we have company. We appreciate being able to attend group training after Dan Camp and always learn something new when we go. Thanks to Dan and team for helping us all.

This review is LONG over due. We got our Oban in 2020…read more After graduating puppy school at Smarty Pups, we thought it would be a good idea to continue socializing Oban through daycare. I did a fair amount of research via Yelp, but found Good Dog via Instagram. We met Erik and Teal for "testing" at their facilitating near the Alemany Market, and phew!, Oban passed. The facility is spacious, clean, and has an indoor and outdoor area. We started Oban with 3 days a week playcare. He is picked up between 10-11am and home between 4-5pm. He is exhausted by the time he gets home and we don't experience the witching hour that we do when he is home all day. Unlike off-leash plays at the beach, we are not concerned that Oban will bring home lbs of sand or worse off run away. You can tell that Teal, Erik, and Yvonne all love dogs and they take great care of all of the pups. Sometimes, our Oban sits and stares at the door waiting for one of them to come through and take him away to his happy place. We don't know whether to have hurt feelings, or feel joy because he is so happy to go there. When we were finally able to travel (COVID and all) we boarded Oban with Teal and Erik. They sent us daily pictures and updates about his well-being, and what he was doing. These people just plain love dogs and treat them well.

We found Good Dog via yelp, and we quickly understood the 5-star reviews that came before ours. Teal, Erik, and Yvonne are absolutely fabulous hoomans who clearly LOVE doggos. Teddy has so much fun with his friends! He comes home every day tired from all of his playing, but then can't wait to go back the next day. Good Dog makes it super easy for us by picking Teddy up and dropping him off at home, and we love the photos (both on Instagram and sent to our phones nearly every day). And their prices are super reasonable! In short -- if you have a doggo and need daycare, call Good Dog today!!!

We brought our foster dog to Pet Camp in hopes of helping build his confidence but ended up being super disappointed and confused during the whole experience and felt that Pet Camp really failed him. Scheduling the appointment wasn't too hard, they said they'd reach out to me via phone to finish our profile for our dog. We set up a time and they did not reach out, like they said, but I was able to call them the following day and finish setting up the profile. For his first day, we included a bag with his prescription grade wet and dry food- along with a couple toys, an article of clothing for smelling etc.- these were all things that we were asked to bring but when my partner went to drop him off, Pet Camp thought he was being boarded "because of all the stuff he has" (??). Pick up went smooth but when we got home we realized they did not pack his wet food back into his bag, which we thought was strange since the can was brand new. After talking to my partner, we also realized that no one had confirmed with either of us how much our dog was supposed to be fed per meal!! We had to call the next morning and check in on both of these things since we had planned to bring him back that day.... They were apologetic about not checking in on his portion sizes and confirmed how much they fed him, which wasn't far off. They also said they will keep the wet food in the fridge, if the dog is coming back the next day...all of that seemed good. When we went to pick up our dog after the second day, we let them know we would not be scheduling him for another session at that time. When we got home, we realized we were charged a different price than the day before. It turns out they stuck our dog in the most expensive group, which is allowing him (a 10lb tiny chiweenie) to hang out with all of the big and small dogs outside for the entire day, with only an hour inside to eat and nap. Our dog is a timid tiny dog and the package that was chosen for him at the beginning was partial outside and partial 1:1 time with a councilor. This was very different and not what he needed or wanted. Another thing we noticed was, of course, no wet food was brought back on the second day (even after we confirmed that he will not be returning). We now need to wait for a new prescription from his vet to get another refill on his food since that was his last can. When we called Pet Camp later that day to figure out why we were charged extra, we learned about them putting him in the other group and were not offered any sort of refund of the difference or real explanation as to why they made this choice. We were just told they were sorry and he had "fun playing all day". Too many basic communication issues and I don't feel safe leaving my dog here. It seems all of their negative reviews share the same complaint about communication.

As brand-new dog parents, we had no idea where to start, and Mike not only trained Donut every day, but also coached us on how to reinforce training at-home. The daily training videos they sent were incredibly helpful and made it easy to repeat everything on our own. Donut is now more confident, relaxed, and well-mannered - we're honestly so impressed and so proud of how far he's come. And the best part? He LOVES going to school. He happily trots through the door every day, which tells us everything we need to know about how well he's cared for. The whole staff has been nothing short of amazing: so patient, kind, and truly invested in every dog. Donut was especially loved by Mike, Michelle, and Raina, and we're so grateful for each of them. Natalie, the owner, is also an absolute pleasure to work with and runs a fantastic program. Yes, this program is an investment, but it is worth every penny! We could not recommend Top Dog SF more. If you're on the fence, do it. Your dog (and you!) will be better for it.

I remember Erika as the funny but intuitive dog whisperer from the SF SPCA's puppy playgroup…read moresessions (for young pups who need to be socialized but haven't finished all their shots - highly recommend it!). Then I was thrilled to have her teach the Beyond the Backyard/Basics course again at the SPCA. She has a very encouraging and gentle manner with all the dogs and reads their body language well. Her energy and empathy have you walking away more bonded with your pup and feeling like you two can do anything together. Also, when some doggy parents misbehave and are perhaps a bit more harsh in tone (confession: me), she points it out delicately and in a very non-judgy manner: "oh, someone was using her mommy voice!" Most recently she was the instructor at the pre-agility class at Ace Dog Sports. Kuka was thrilled to meet her again and probably would've happily gone home with Erika given the chance. It was such a jam-packed productive session where the focus and attention to each dog was really felt. You could see the progress from each dog in that single session, which was super inspirational. Kuka was at first pretty apprehensive about the A-frame but made it over courageously the second time without issue! I've also had a private session with Erika as well. Her faith in both my little pooch and me was helpful, as well as the very professional packet she provided. Highly recommend Erika if you're lucky enough to encounter her!!!
