This review is LONG over due. We got our Oban in 2020. After graduating puppy school at Smarty Pups, we thought it would be a good idea to continue socializing Oban through daycare. I did a fair amount of research via Yelp, but found Good Dog via Instagram. We met Erik and Teal for "testing" at their facilitating near the Alemany Market, and phew!, Oban passed. The facility is spacious, clean, and has an indoor and outdoor area. We started Oban with 3 days a week playcare. He is picked up between 10-11am and home between 4-5pm. He is exhausted by the time he gets home and we don't experience the witching hour that we do when he is home all day. Unlike off-leash plays at the beach, we are not concerned that Oban will bring home lbs of sand or worse off run away. You can tell that Teal, Erik, and Yvonne all love dogs and they take great care of all of the pups. Sometimes, our Oban sits and stares at the door waiting for one of them to come through and take him away to his happy place. We don't know whether to have hurt feelings, or feel joy because he is so happy to go there. When we were finally able to travel (COVID and all) we boarded Oban with Teal and Erik. They sent us daily pictures and updates about his well-being, and what he was doing. These people just plain love dogs and treat them well. read more

5 stars is far too few for Good Dog Playcare. After our baby was born last year, we realized we needed a better dog care situation for our handsome bichon-poodle mix Teddy. We found Good Dog via yelp, and we quickly understood the 5-star reviews that came before ours. Teal, Erik, and Yvonne are absolutely fabulous hoomans who clearly LOVE doggos. Teddy has so much fun with his friends! He comes home every day tired from all of his playing, but then can't wait to go back the next day. Good Dog makes it super easy for us by picking Teddy up and dropping him off at home, and we love the photos (both on Instagram and sent to our phones nearly every day). And their prices are super reasonable! In short -- if you have a doggo and need daycare, call Good Dog today!!! read more

Our pup has been with Good Dog! for about four years. We have always felt that our little monster was greatly loved and cared from when he was picked up each day to when he was dropped off each evening. Teal and Erik care about each dog in their pack and have staff that care just as deeply. When I embarked on the journey of becoming the hooman for a little spunky shiba inu puppy, I was super nervous that this smug thing who's too smart for her own good won't get enough stimulation or exercise. My husband grew up with a shiba who growled at any passing dog on her walks and escaped quite a few times with minimal recall skills. I was worried that Kiko would be like that. Lucky for us, we have not needed to worry at any for the last 2 years because of Teal and Erik's excellent care and fun space. They are no frills people who genuinely care about the dogs and with an excellent sense of humor. Their very well curated instagram posts of the dogs attending their care on a given day brings me belly laughs even when my dog is NOT involved in the post at all. They are very professional when it comes to billing, communications, and tips for training at home. And the most important part: the dogs love them. Sometimes I wonder if Kiko loves them more, to be honest.... We unfortunately moved out of their service territory, which makes this review sooo late but absolutely necessary. We will miss them. Kiko will miss them even more. In fact, my husband said Kiko no longer being able to go to Teal and Erik's is the saddest part about us moving away even though the competition includes walking access to GGP, Alamo Square, Duboce Park, and all the restaurants in Hayes Valley as well as on the Divisadero and 101 corridor. I hope that says enough about how good they are. Once this COVI0D-19 quarantine is over, and you realize that you can't keep up with the same amount of walking for your newly adopted fur baby anymore, send them to Teal and Erik. I rarely write Yelp reviews but am compelled to post one for Good Dog. We got our dog from the SPCA and had Teal help us with training her. She is incredibly pooch positive, unlike some which teach a more punishing style. I like this. Also, our dog had car anxiety and only weeks later did we learn that Teal was making a special bed in their doggy vehicle for our Beagle to be comfortable. This had the added bonus of greatly reducing our dog's nervousness. Her rates are very reasonable for dailies, but we've used them for over night boarding as well. Teal has that mix that you rarely find: trustworthy, down to earth, and super knowledgeable. read more

Leaving your puppy to go out of town for the first time is hard, to say the least. We agonized over where to board him and were almost ready to bring him to our vet until our neighbor referred us to Teal and Eric. We were impressed with the fact that they took the time to come to our home and make sure that Ralph would fit in with their crew. Other boarding/daycare sites we spoke with didn't even want to meet our dog prior to boarding him and when we went for visits many of the facilities were dirty and filled with way too many dogs. Teal and Eric take the time to meet the dogs they will be boarding/walking and to us this meant a lot. Ralph stayed with them for 6 days and played his little heart out. When your dog boards with them they take them to the park twice a day on top of the excercise they get playing with their own dog or others that may be boarding. I was happy that they were only boarding 2 dogs at a time. Above all, meeting Teal and Eric I could tell that they were knowledgeable, trustworthy, and cared about taking good care of our dog. I would highly recommend them as dog walkers/sitters. Teal took the time to return my phone calls while we were away and even emailed us pictures of our dog in order to assure us he was happy and healthy. She never made me feel like I was a bother to her although I know she must be busy. This was exactly the personalized and caring service we were looking for, and would never receive if we boarded at the vet. When we picked up our puppy he was happy to see us and exhausted from all the play and excercise. Boarding our dog here made us feel like he was able to have a vacation while we were away instead of feeling like he was being punished in some kennel. Teal and Eric are great!! There is no better daycare. Period. Teal and Erik and their staff are incredibly responsible, care very much about the dogs in their care, and do a thorough interview before accepting dogs. They are also well versed in modern dog training techniques and keep the dogs active, engaged, and ensure the dogs use good play techniques. This isn't a daycare where your dog hangs out in a room with nothing to do-Good Dog gives them affection and plays with your dog all day. I encourage people to check out their Instagram to see the pics and videos they post daily. The indoor/outdoor space is clean and safe and my dog doesn't come home stinky like he did at his original daycare. I trust them 110% with my dog (and I won't trust him with just anyone) and I'm so grateful there's a safe and engaging place for my dog to go while I'm at work. read more

The text us, with a photo, when they pick up and drop off Seamus - this is great if you're hoping to grab a drink or dinner after work because you know exactly how long your pup has been home alone. 3. Teal also lets us know if Seamus peed or pooped when she drops him off. 4. They are great with sending and posting pics and/or videos of the pups during the day so you can can check in. 5. Our pup where's a FitBark activity tracker and always comes home with a very high activity score! 6. Teal and her staff are knowledgable and caring. My dog is a Podenco Canario, named Origo. I work as a dog walker and do off leash hikes with my packs, but sadly, Origo cannot come out with me as he would love to run off and catch a rabbit or cat or squirrel. When you work professionally with dogs you learn a lot about who is a flight risk, and much to my chagrin, I had adopted a MAJOR flight risk dog! What to do, what to do...... I knew Teal and Erik through the dog pro world we are a part of and they came over to meet Origo and have a test run with him in daycare. He LOVES IT! There is literally no other place I could send my dog because it wouldn't compare. This is as good as it gets, folks. When a dog pro sends their dog to daycare, you'd better believe its the best daycare out there. If I could give them more stars I would! Here's the deal -- Simply put, Teal and Erik rawk! They are knowledgable, friendly and kind with your hound -- whether it's just playtime while you're at work or whether they need to go to dog camp while you're out of town. They looked after Mitzi, a very active German Shorthaired Pointer, for us (aka the Mitz or the Trouble Seeking Mitzle or The Mitzinator, or sometimes just "that pointer's nuts!") while we were travelling, and she got along wih the rest of their dog posse really well. teal and erik are fantastic! teal has epitomized professionalism since the first time we spoke. we got our dog, ginger, when she was only 2 months old and were really nervous about having to leave her home alone a few days of the week while we were both at work. of the several dog walkers i called, teal was the first one who called back and arranged to come over right away for an interview on a sunday. ginger adored her the moment she walked in the door - and not just because she's the "treat lady!" teal slowly integrated ginger into full socialization with the other dogs in the group at just the right pace, always providing the best care. not only does ginger get more excited to see teal than anyone else she knows (including us!), but teal has been incredibly patient and nurturing with her, teaching her to socialize well with other dogs and people and to be much more obedient in general. ginger's dad and i agree that finding teal was the luckiest and best thing we could ever have done for our puppy. read more

I think Teal and Erik are so great, but more importantly, my dog Lucy is crazy about them! I have to admit, Lucy is pretty crazy in general, but Teal and Erik handle her with loving care. She is always tired and happy when I get home because she's been to the park and played with her friends. When my grandparents adopted their dog Jordan, they had no idea what a challenge he would be. They had been dog owners many times before, but Jordan proved to be the most behaviorally challenged dog they'd ever dealt with. Then came Teal & Erik to the rescue!! While Jordan is not my dog, I have seen first hand what an amazing job Teal & Erik have done in socializing Jordan and caring for him. My grandparents are now able to take him for walks on their own without fear. Jordan attends their "doggy daycare" during weekdays and he always comes home happy and tired - exactly how we want him :). Leaving your dog with Teal and Erik (Good Dog! owners) is absolutely worry-free. They are completely reliable, adore dogs, and their prices are affordable. When my dog comes home from a walk he is EXHAUSTED. They encourage good, healthy interactions with other dogs, and are always on top of their game at the dog park. They don't leave the dogs for a second. They report any unusual doggie behaviour immediately, so you know they are watching him and paying close attention. When they drop him off they keep a log of pick up and drop off times which is very useful so you know how long he's been out for during the day. I would give them top marks, and if you're able to get a slot in one of their groups, you'll never regret it. We love them!!! read more

Teal and Erik are outstanding! They have taken excellent care of my Rhodesian Ridgeback, "Puppy Max" (almost 8 yrs. old :), for over three years and both Max and I couldn't be happier! Good Dog Active Playcare now has their own space and they couldn't deserve it more! Erik and Teal spent a full year planning out their new space and opening it properly...with proper zoning. While you're probably most concerned about their ability to take care of your loved one(s) and not SF zoning laws, I believe that the way they conduct their entire business speaks directly to how they work with dogs. They take their business seriously, paying attention to details and making sure things are done right. They do the same with their clients. This is not to say it's all serious business all the time. Erik and Teal have their fair share of fun with the little nuggets running around the daycare. It's a fun place for dogs and their people. read more

I was a little nervous to write something as " public "as a Yelp review, but this review is LONG, long overdue. For the last couple of years I've been sending my little guy to Erik and Teal at Good Dog! Active Affectionate Playcare. Simply put, I feel like a parent who has found the perfect pre-school for their kid. Every day that he goes there I am relaxed and happy at work knowing that my baby is getting a ton of love and lots of play time with his doggie friends. I've known Erik and Teal for a long time now and trust them explicitly. I've seen them and their staff in action at their original meeting place, which was the dog park behind the buffalo in GG Park. They now have their own space near Alemany Boulevard. It's true when they call themselves "active" and "affectionate" playcare. They don't just stand around and watch the dogs play. They engage with them and facilitate their play. They take care of their dogs like they were their own kids and they address each dog's unique personality. (They even have little nicknames for their "kids".) My dog has a lot of energy and gets tons of attention from me, my family, and everyone who comes over to my house, but the only person in the world that he goes ABSOLUTELY CRAZY over is Erik!
