With my company Christmas party fast approaching, I was initially dismayed that my usual place had lost its hairdresser. Lucky for me though, I spied the fantastic reviews for City Salon here on Yelp and called for an appointment. I am glad I did! I left with a great hair cut/style as well as a new "go-to" salon!! Located quite close to East Providence's City Hall, this salon is smack dab in the middle of a main thruway and is very easy to get to. There is plenty of free street parking on Taunton Ave. with additional spots on the side streets in the area. On entering, Cheryl smiled and greeted me by name, while her small dog calmly walked over to say hi. You don't always get a personalized welcome on a first visit... it was a nice touch. After a brief description of what I was looking for, Cheryl understood exactly what I wanted and started in. Cheryl is super nice and very easy to talk to (something that was a relief to me as I am generally quite shy). She is great at what she does and I can't wait until I am in need of her services again. The City Salon has a modern, clean, and spacious interior. I was so focused on getting my hair done that it almost didn't register that there was a nail/pedicure station towards the back. Not sure how much the other services cost... but a wash, cut, and blow dry were a reasonable $35. I wouldn't mind seeing a pamphlet or website (perhaps I overlooked them?) so I can plan ahead for services and price prior to calling for my next appointment. Highly recommended! (...and as a healthcare professional, I think it is fantastic that on this business page it is advertised she will travel in Rhode Island for home bound and nursing home residents!) read more

Cheryl is an absolutely wonderful human being. so down to earth, easy to talk to, felt like I knew her for many years even tho I just met her. I had gotten many perms in my day and the perm Cheryl gave me was/is the best one by far. mind you I have pin straight hair and I love curls. it has been several years since I've got a perm due to spending lots of money and not getting the results I wanted. I will forever go back to Cheryl. I have gotten so MANY comments on my hair from people on how nice it looks, I love your hair, it looks so good,etc... that's when you know your hair came out nice. when you get a new hair cut, style, perm whichever and you do not get comments without mention then you know it's not rite. lol just saying. Also the atmosphere in her salon is very calming and not hectic she is very one on one and personally I like that. I've been to salons where the stylist would barely even talk to me, this was not the case. I will now book my kids with her and try to get friends to go as well. she is worth it. I had a body wave here last week with Cheryl. This is the best one I've had, and I've had many body waves over the years. The curl of the body wave is neither too tight or loose, and has stayed the same as day one without losing its wave and without overdrying my hair. She also did a great job giving me a haircut with the layers that were just right. I would not hesitate to return. City Salon has been one of the best experiences when I comes to getting myself pampered. Not only did Cheryl do a phenomenal job on cutting my layers, but she got my color perfect! On top of everything my color lasted way longer than normal. Instead of getting it recut and dyed every six weeks I am going on almost 10 weeks!!! I have also had a manicure and pedicure done by Cheryl and her prices are great. She uses top of the line product and has a plentiful variety of nail polish colors including gel and shellac. Her pedicure lasted over 3 weeks and the massage chair she used was very relaxing. Overall I was extremely satisfied with the customer service City Salon provided as well as the cleanliness of the place. Cheryl has been doing my hair for almost five years! My hair is very important to me because it can be very difficult but Cheryl sees it and doesn't even flinch.
