I love thrifting. I ESPECIALLY love thrifting at City Thrift now that I've actually had the time to properly thrift. This place has been on my radar for a while, but I never had actually visited because there are thrift stores closer to me than this. So one day I'm in the Edgewater area and decide to pop in. OH MY GOSH. THE SELECTION HERE IS GREAT. There are soooo many hidden gems for a low price. I got a pair of grey H&M jeans that look almost brand new for $8. There was the cutest corduroy crop top with Lisa Simpson on it and another top with beautiful beadwork and NO MISSING BEADS. I want to say everything that I picked up to look at was in really really good condition also. I definitely did not have time to go through the whole store since it's big, but I'm extremely happy with my finds :) NOTE: There is no dressing room, but they have a 2 week exchange policy on the clothes. I had no issue with this, but I can see how it could be an issue to others.

Large store but in a depressed area. Lots of well-used inexpensive clothing, and about 5 aisles of housewares/knick-knacks/dishes/etc.

We always find great stuff and in good condition there. It normally is busy on the weekend so go during the week if possible.

One of the reasons it's my favorite shop is because of how curated it is. There's a smaller home section with a huge selection of dishes and fine china. There's also other good home finds as well. The clothing section is good, but not so large it's overwhelming. I love the designer section, there's always something good there. Additionally, they just added a trinket trade box to the store, so be sure to check that out!!

4 Stars for a great cause to support with your donations and some great finds!…read more When I was looking for an ethical organization where I could donate items I don't use anymore, I was so thrilled to find Out of the Closet. According to their website, Out of the Closet Thrift Store (OTC) was founded in 1990 to help raise funds and awareness for AIDS Healthcare Foundation. When you shop or donate at Out of the Closet, 96 cents of every dollar made goes to AIDS Healthcare Foundation's HIV prevention and treatment services. Dropping donations off is very easy- you pull up just past the front retail door to another closed exterior door which has a sign to ring a bell for assistance. From there someone comes out to receive the donations. As a thrift shop, I've been able to find a great furniture piece as well as a few tops. They have lots of clothes and some home goods, depending on the week. With that said, it's not the best thrift store in terms of inventory and pricing, but you know you're supporting a good cause and there are some hidden gems. I'll keep donating here and perusing for some fun thrift finds!

I was surprised to see they had a deal on the already discounted items where anything with an orange tag was 50% off. I got two shirts at $1 each! This store was extremely clean and well organized. I was able to find a Disney shirt that still had the original tag on it. The employees were super nice and this was a great experience so I would recommend the store to anyone looking for a good location!

They had so many different shoes to look through that they even had different areas set up for specific shoe colors. Since there are so many shoes for women, they are all pretty affordable. However, they were not as many shoes for men so they were a bit more on the expensive side. Most of the men's shoes that I found for my husband started at about $15 and went all the way up to over $100. For used shoes I wouldn't pay anything over $20. The cashiers were friendly. I saw an item behind the shelves that I wanted a price check on and the lady helped me. If you're in the area and you're looking to pick up some thrifted goods, I would definitely recommend checking this store out. They do have a restroom inside but you need to push the button by the door and wait for an employee to come let you into the bathroom. Make sure if you're with someone else that they take your items because you're not allowed to bring merchandise into the restroom with you.
