During that process, they also acknowledged that diagnosing the exhaust manifold issue was beyond the scope of what their shop is equipped to handle and told me they should have referred me to a shop with the appropriate expertise instead of simply reporting that no problem could be found. They said they would use this as a coaching opportunity with their employees, which I appreciated. In the past, they've been upfront about the types of work they do and don't perform, and I think that's a reasonable approach. While I'm still disappointed that the original inspection missed several items, I appreciate that Big Brand took my concerns seriously, communicated with me throughout the process, and ultimately stood behind their work by replacing the oil pan. For management's reference specificly, he was not wearing anything that identified him as an employee. His appearance was not the issue. His attitude and the way he handled my appointment were the issue. Between this description, the appointment time, and my service records, management will know exactly who I am referring to. There was no professional introduction, and the interaction felt disrespectful and unprofessional from the beginning. He seemed embarrassed that I was there waiting before he arrived, and it felt like his ego took over from that point forward. When he pulled up my appointment, nearly everything written in the notes was incorrect. By the end of the visit, he presented me with an estimate for more than $800 in supposed repairs. The amount seemed outrageous, and the entire situation made me feel like I was being taken advantage of. I declined the work, asked for my keys back, and paid more than $100 for the oil change they had already completed. I immediately drove across the street to SM Tire and asked them to inspect everything Big Brand Tire claimed was wrong. They checked my vehicle and after a multipoint inspection everything was fine. They rotated my tires, treated me with respect, and handled me like a valued customer. The difference between these two businesses was unbelievable.
