It is cheaper to take a Uber than to get a ticket for a DUI. I use it before I get BATSH%T drunk,…read morelike at a wine or bourbon tasting dinner event. What appeals to me most about Uber is that it prioritizes a passenger's safety. The app generates a one-time verification PIN that I give to the driver, and the app also permits me to opt-in for an audio recording of the entire driver/ passenger conversation. I also use Uber to buy ferry tickets to Fire Island. I click on "Account" "Transit Tickets" "Buy Ticket" and then select which part of the island I want to visit. This July 4, I plan to go to the annual Drag Queen Invasion of Fire Island, so I will be selecting "Pines". The app has a Hotel Reservation feature that is found on the "Services" tab, but I won't be staying in the Pines overnight. It will be a "day trip" thing. Overall, I have had nothing but positive experiences with Uber in all the years that I have been using the service. I am one satisfied customer.

I don't really like Uber but I have used it a few times to get around…read more I just don't like that it's not really a company it's independent people. (Which sometimes can be a complete freaking creepy weirdo) So I try my best not to use them unless I have to. Because you never know what kind of driver you're gonna get. To be honest I like a traditional taxi cab better than uber.

DO NOT USE THIS SHUTTLE SERVICE EVER!…read more Felt trapped, pushed, and shaken -- never again I used this company in Aug 2025 from the SJC taxi/shuttle stand for a quick two stop trip to Sunnyvale during a business trip. The driver said the trip would be "about $65" for the first stop but there was no meter running and no posted rate sheet in the van. When I asked to continue from the food pickup to my hotel a few minutes away, he suddenly demanded $20 more and started becoming aggressive. I said I'd pay the lawful fare (meter or authorized rate sheet) and asked to see the pricing sheet, since none was posted. The $20 extra that he came up with off the top of his head for an extra few mins of driving seemed suspicious and made me wonder if even the $65 was accurate (Lyft had quoted me $29 for the same trip to the first stop just minutes before I got into the shuttle). Things escalated fast. The driver raised his voice, blocked my access to the door of the van so I couldn't get out, and refused to give back my luggage unless I agreed to his price (which is grand theft felony for items over $950 since drivers cannot hold luggage hostage EVEN if a passenger does not pay). After he let me leave the vehicle, I said "excuse me" (since he was blocking the van door) and reached toward the door/compartment to take my bag. He then grabbed/locked my arm and shoved me back hard from the vehicle! I felt unsafe and trapped with expensive work and personal equipment in that luggage, so I yelled at bystanders to call 911 and did so myself. Several Sunnyvale PD officers arrived and de-escalated the situation. Even with police there, the driver couldn't show a meter or couldn't produce an approved rate sheet validating his $65 or $20 fare quotes. He pulled up a "taxi meter rates" PDF on his phone to show the police, but he'd never used a meter. Later, when I paid the $65 by phone to the company to settle and move on, the company still wouldn't send a proper itemized invoice (no pickup/drop addresses, no rate calculation) even after multiple emails requesting the rate sheet that shows $65 as the authorized flat rate from SJC to this area of Sunnyvale. I've disputed the charge with my card issuer who reviewed the case and credited it back to me. This wasn't a simple "fare disagreement." In my experience, the driver used my luggage as leverage and got physical when I tried to retrieve it. I've provided video of the incident to the airport's ground transportation office, and requested an investigation. Bottom line: I left this ride shaken and furious. If you care about safety, transparency, and lawful pricing, avoid A1 Classic and choose literally any alternative (rideshare or a taxi that actually runs a meter or follows a legal airport filed flat rate). This is totally a scammy company that quotes illegal price rates and has drivers who will threaten, push you, arm lock you and hold your luggage hostage if they feel like you won't pay them. The funny thing is that this was a work trip, so my company would be paying the fare so this entire fare dispute issue was just in the driver's head and he very quickly and incorrectly assumed I was not going to pay, when instead I was simply raising some suspicions of how he randomly arrived at the $20 extra fare for a few mins extra driving. But fare dispute is one thing - thinking you can threaten, block the exit from the van, shove, arm lock and hold hostage luggage until payment is received is an entirely different matter! Note that there is another review with this same driver making another passenger feel unsafe and getting aggressive. ------- Editing my review to leave this note to reply to this shady company's management reply below. My reply to management: - It is simply illegal for a taxi or shuttle service from the airport to tell the passenger a price (such as a flat rate) that is invalid to begin with (which cannot be corroborated with a rate sheet at the destination) and then demand the passenger to pay. For example, they cannot say "price will be $2,000" and then demand that you pay because you continued the journey. - There is no requirement for passengers to mention further stops. Note, the company reply was left on Aug 29, 2025: "I respect you as a customer but how much lie you can say. You were told the price before you entered the van for one stop and you never mentioned the second stop. You gave the address to the first stop and how will the driver know you want another stop. If you are getting a cheaper price from Lyft why didn't you take it and why did you come in the taxi line. Why didn't you ask for a rate sheet before you left the airport. The police found that your at fault because you were cussing and pushing my driver I have the video. You paid over the phone and still blaming the company. No body forced you to pay you called us as the driver left empty handed after waiting 2 hours. Thank you so much and have a nice day."
