This is exactly the bar that PR needed. It's a cute little cocktail lounge. Great ambiance. A small number of tables and lots of bar seating make it the perfect spot for pre or post dinner drinks. It's intimate for a date night. I've walked by several evenings and there's always a little buzz here. The cocktails were great. The staff were on top of everything... making drinks and keeping tables cleared. Definitely one to try in PR.

WOW I cannot believe a place like this finally opened in Park Ridge. The bar is tiny, but the ambiance is great. It's perfectly decorated to fit the moody speakeasy vibe with nods to the Chicago gangsters who set up the original gin joints during prohibition. While we don't have to hide in a basement with a password Park Ridge was never known for its acceptance of locations that served more alcohol than food. The cocktail list is nicely curated and the drinks are well executed. Service was really good, and the bartenders were all friendly and attentive. If you're looking for a cool spot for cocktails in the Edison Park or Park Ridge area check out the Pines Room!

My friends and I stumbled upon this place when we were looking for a bar to go to in Park Ridge. I wouldn't have expected to find a place like this so outside the city! It's somewhat hard to find because it has a misleading sign on top, but I think that adds to the speakeasy vibes of the place. The ambiance is absolutely stunning and the bar area is beautiful. Once you get seated, you kind of have to call the bartender over to order because there aren't any traditional servers, but we didn't mind at all. The menu itself is very small with just a few cocktails and a few dishes. The cocktails we got were First World, Jamiacan Old Fashioned, and Tiramisu Martini. The maraschino was a little too strong in the First World cocktail but the Old Fashioned was great! My favorite was the Tiramisu. It tasted like a dessert-y espresso martini and if I went again, I would get that first! We also ordered the onions strings and spicy gnocchi. They weren't lying about the strings part of the onions. They were super thin and crunchy and fun to eat. The sauce paired well, too! The gnocchi had a strong flavor but didn't love how big the actual gnocchi was. It also got very salty toward the end but overall good. This is definitely a hidden gem in the suburbs of Chicago. It can get busy so get there early if you want a spot!

Our bill, showing no compensation for throwing water on the both of us. Even though we're soaking wet, we still had to pay.

So, we stopped by Pines Room on the recommendation of the bartender at Holt's. It was later on Saturday afternoon that we stopped by Holt's, the bartender was telling us Pines Room opens at 4 PM. So we settled up our bill and headed over next-door based, on his recommendation. It's a small place inside and the ambience is a local small town vibe. There were only three other people in the place when we arrived. The bartender was busy with something, he greeted us, gave us two menus, and we asked for two glasses of water, and almost immediately after he poured the two glasses he spilled it on me in my partner. So, pretty much I had a full glass of water on the bottom, half of my polo and on my slacks. He cleaned the water off the bar area, and asked me if I needed a towel for my pants. I got the impression that this was something I did to myself ,not that he did it to me. Both of us have wet slacks, and shirts. We should have left immediately after this incident. However, we felt that he would make it right, by offering us a free cocktail, on-the-house, for getting us soaking wet. And of course, that was a big no! See the bill I posted. This is how you treat paying customers? As you can see from the bill, it's not cheap to drink there. We felt like we were at a family member's house and their kids spilled a drink on us and we just have to suck it up and move on because kids are kids. I get that concept, however we were at a business, not a family member's house. So, I must say that's it for us. We will never be back. We are going to take our money elsewhere. So, that should provide all y'all with plenty of room to pay the high prices and enjoy the terrible service.

I'm only doing three stars because of the room in the place and the hours & we received a drink, and the glass was had a crack going down and the bartender just poured it into another cop instead of remaking it. very nice place has a speakeasy. Feel bartenders and servers have really cute aprons. I feel the vibe menu is good. Drinks are decent. definitely is a bar where the parents can get away from their kids and unwind for a little bit locally in the neighborhood.

Very tiny but nice ambiance. Small selection of snacks available to order. Delicious cocktails with great service.

It's very peaceful, romantic and a calm atmosphere. All of the food was delicious. The plating is so attractive! The dishes have great flavor but are healthier options. The portion sizes were perfect for what we desired. I'm not exaggerating when I say this was the best branzino I've ever had. The skin was crunchy and delicious. But the fish was not dry at all! There's nothing better than a juicy branzino fish and chef Jose nailed it! Matching with the sauce and beans was so much better than any other veggies or starch. The octopus was also cooked to perfection. The flavor and temperature was just right. Not too hot and such a great texture. We don't always order desserts but we had to see every course of the menu. We decided to go with a lava cake and it did not disappoint. It had that perfect contrast of hot and cold but it's served with gelato which gives it a nice touch of texture compared to standard ice cream. Chef Jose came out and introduced himself. We came in because we were enticed by a beef tartare that was on their menu in the past. We're hoping he brings it back on a special sometime soon. He said to give him a call and he'll try to accommodate whenever possible to make his customers happy. What an amazing restaurant. We cannot wait to come back and see what's new. Thank you for an amazing dinner and night!

Although we are from the area, we had never visited before, and the photos immediately caught our attention. The bar fit our vibe perfectly, and after visiting a few times, we knew it was the right place for us. We rented both spaces: the main bar upstairs and Nightshade, the speakeasy downstairs. Moonflower has a small stage in the main bar, which we used for our ceremony. The space already has so much character that it needed very little decorating. We brought small flower vases and an altar piece that the bride and her now mother in law made together. After the ceremony, we held cocktail hour and served food buffet style in the main bar. Later, everyone moved downstairs to Nightshade. Its lounge atmosphere and dance floor were perfect for our 50 to 60 guests. Some people relaxed around the cocktail tables while others danced, so everyone could enjoy the night in their own way. Moonflower's event organizer, Morgan, was wonderful. She made the entire planning process feel easy and was a joy to work with. She helped turn our ideas into reality, assisting with day of logistics, décor, beverage packages, and every question that came up. She was always responsive and available. Morgan also helped us think through details that had not occurred to us, including coffee for our guests, explaining the parking situation, contacting nearby businesses about using their lots, and recommending DJs. We ultimately hired one of the DJs she suggested. Her extra support was incredibly helpful and took a great deal of stress out of planning. If you have not tried Moonflower's drinks, you are missing out. Their regular cocktail menu is fantastic, and our experience was even more special because of a custom cocktail session with Zach. He created signature drink options for each of us based on our tastes and favorite cocktails. Every option was spectacular, and the final drinks felt personal and special. We chose Funeral Potatoes for the food. Since they already handle the food at Moonflower, we were able to try many dishes beforehand. Our guests raved about everything. We especially recommend the brussels sprouts, deviled eggs, and caprese sandwiches. Alexis, who heads up Funeral Potatoes, was also extremely helpful with selecting the menu. The only outside food we brought in was our wedding cake. The entire staff was phenomenal. Everyone treated the occasion with the perfect balance of care, professionalism, and fun. The night went off without a hitch and was truly one of the best nights of our lives. Moonflower was also extremely reasonable compared with other venues we considered in the city, especially with an open bar and food available on site. Street parking was plentiful, and none of our guests had trouble finding a spot. For anyone looking for a relaxed wedding for 50 to 60 people with a memorable lounge atmosphere, fantastic staff, buffet style food, and exceptional cocktails, Moonflower should be at the top of your list.

We made a reservation because I'd heard this place can get pretty busy. Although it didn't seem too crowded when we first arrived on a Saturday, it filled up quickly throughout our meal. I definitely recommend making a reservation, especially if you're planning to come for dinner. As soon as we walked in, I was struck by how beautiful the restaurant is. Since the building was once a church, they preserved the stained-glass windows and cathedral ceilings, which give the space so much character. We ended up sitting on the patio because it was a gorgeous day, but I definitely want to come back and dine inside so I can fully appreciate the interior. The patio was modern, spacious, and completely shaded, making it very comfortable. Since it's located right next to the little lake, we also enjoyed a nice breeze throughout our meal. Our waitress was friendly and attentive overall, but there was one moment that stood out. My friend's baby accidentally knocked over a full glass of iced coffee, spilling it all over my friend's lap and onto the floor. The waitress watched as my friend cleaned up the mess herself but didn't offer to help or replace the spilled drink. Aside from that, the service was good. My friends and I all ordered something different, and everyone enjoyed their meals. I had the salmon poke bowl ($19), which was fresh, flavorful, and incredibly refreshing. The ingredients tasted high quality, and all the flavors worked really well together. It was more filling than I was expecting! Price-wise, I expected the menu to be more expensive than it actually was. I'm sure dinner prices are higher, especially for steak and seafood, but the brunch menu was quite reasonable. Most breakfast and brunch dishes range from $12-$20, making it a great value for both the quality of the food and the beautiful atmosphere. Overall, we all enjoyed our experience and I'll for sure be back! I'd love to try other menu items and come for dinner, too!
