Checked out this pretty casual looking bar. District House is one of the few in the immediate area on Higgins. It may get overlooked by some of the other places in Jefferson Park. Have to say it's not much to look at. The drinks are the main thing. Basic looking bar in a mostly residential area. It's the second home for a lot of regulars who live around here. That makes sense. Not a whole lot else is around. Of course they won't ever have to worry about parking. It's about $7 for a basic cocktail. Whiskey and mixed with whatever. Basic. There's free popcorn. Good prices compared to other bars. It's located on Higgins at Major. The closest transportation center is the Jefferson Park station. read more

On this night... Who am I kidding... on frequent nights we visited District House, one of our favorite watering holes. The reason we love this place is because the place is nice and modern with a nice comfy decor, they have an EXCELLENT whiskey and bourbon selection amongst all other spirits, but mostly because of the SERVICE! The staff, from the owner to each of the bartenders, they treat you like a long time friend. The drinks pack a punch and the ambiance is always upbeat. They strive to provide different events weekly and even nightly. They have a back patio for private parties or you can host your event inside. This place is just great, but Uber since parking is street parking and common sense dictates you should. See you there, and let's enjoy a drink! read more

What a great neighborhood bar. Great neighborhood spot. And the best part of my visit here was the family like feeling you get when you sit down and order your favorite beverage. I popped in for the cubs home opener and met the owner and she explained the reason for the name of the bar, which I think is very cool. Then our awesome bartender Paige served me and I learned she and the crew prepared a nice spread for the game to include pulled chicken and THE BEST bratwurst I've ever tasted. No food at the bar. Terrible tasting drinks with extremely racist and sexist folk. Over-serving the patrons is commonplace. No respect to the neighborhood families or individuals that live around the bar. It's easy to find somebody sitting in their car coming from the bar right outside on higgins. The place is extremely cliquey and enjoys challenging people. Wouldn't recommend 0/10. read more

I've been coming to District for over a year now, a few months after they opened. I recommend this place to all my neighbors and friends. It's great for happy hours, a date, a girl'a or boy's night out, family outing, or just to grab a cocktail. Visited this establishment on Friday Oct.14th because of a Elijah Craig Old Fashioned promotion that the owner advertised that he was taking part in. He put his recipe for his House Old Fashioned on the Elijah Craig website,and to tell you the truth, it sounded good. I arrived a little after they opened and proceeded to tell the bartender why I came to this establishment. The bartender told me that she knew nothing about the promotion and asked if I wanted anything. I ask her for the House Old Fashioned and was ready to show her the recipe. She pretty much told me not to bother with that and started to make my drink. I watched as she made the Old Fashioned and it was nothing like the advertised drink recipe. I tried to let her know what I was expecting but she didn't want to hear my explanation. So I quickly finished what was a very below average Old Fashioned and left. Just a reminder to the owner. If you are going to participate in a promotion,try letting your employees know about it. Also, if you are running a whiskey bar and are bragging about how great your Old Fashioned are,then take the time to be at your business for the promotion or at the very least train your bartender on how to make your House Old Fashioned. It's to bad that my visit was such a huge disappointment because I live close to this place and it was my first visit there and probably my last. Since I did try and reach out to the owner but never heard back from him. This tells me that he doesn't care or need new patrons,which is find with me. This bar is a must visit. Amazing customer service. All of the bartenders and owners are very welcoming and treat every customer as a regular. Drinks are very fairly priced and the environment is very upbeat and friendly. The bar is ALWAYS pristine and clean. There are numerous TV's great for watching sports. As a Jefferson Park resident, District House is hands down my favorite neighborhood bar. The building is new construction and the entire establishment is always immaculately clean. The owner, manager, and bartenders are all incredibly friendly and fun. Drinks are fairly prices and there are multiple TVs that can be viewed at any angle no matter where you are sitting. It's a great place to watch a sporting event, sing some karaoke (Thursday nights), or just simply relax for a drink with a great crowd. Highly recommend! read more
