We had to put one of our cats down at this location, and they were all so kind and attentive to us in that really rough situation. Pay up or suffer. This vet is all about the money. They don't care about my fur babies at all. They refuse to approve a prescription for heartworm disease prevention medication because I can't afford to pay for a wellness exam. They have the medical records from the previous vet and still refuse, even though they have approved in the past. My previous vet has closed so I cannot get an approval from them. I have been unemployed for over a year and I'm trying to take care of my fur babies the best I can. All CityVet Addison wants is my money from a wellness exam. They would rather risk my babies health than approve this vital prescription. However! When my fur baby got aggressive during a nail trim, the first and only aggression in 8 years of regular nail trims, CityVet Addison immediately prescribed a sedative, WITHOUT an exam. They immediately assumed that my fur baby had transformed into a vicious monster, virtually overnight. I explained it was extremely unusual behavior and asked if it could have been an illness or some other medical issue. They didn't conduct an exam. They didn't even offer. They were convinced, WITHOUT an exam, that a sedative was the answer. I noticed a few days later that my docile and gentle baby had a torn and bleeding nail that went through the quick. read more

The boarding facility where we board our dog now requires the Bivalent flu vaccine in addition to the kennel cough vaccination. My regular vet is having a hard time getting hold of it as well as a couple other vet offices I called. I finally contacted the boarding facility to ask if they knew where I might find it and they suggested City Vet. I called and they had it! Yeah! The flu vaccine consists of two doses given 3 weeks apart. We just had our second dose and we're very pleased with the care we received during both visits. They emailed me the certificate of the vaccines so I'm all set! read more

I haven't found our official vet in the area yet, but have used CityVet before and needed them again this past week for a concern I had with my pup. I was super nervous as the issue may have required her to be under anesthesia for a while. However I have to say the team here at CityVet put my mind at ease from the moment I reached out to them. Ariel the receptionist stayed in touch with me about the issue, the Vet actually called me before I even brought her in to ease my fears, and then once I dropped her off she called me to give me the update on her thoughts. I appreciated all of that so much, especially with my dog not even being an official patient of theirs yet. They didn't have to go through all that communication for me . I also like that they didn't try to do something just to make money as some vets and doctors do, they suggested things for me to help the problem on my own at home and told me to come back as needed in the future. That really impressed me as well. Additionally, they have a very clean office and a wonderful staff overall. I will probably be making this my go to vet for my girl from now on! read more

CityVet Addison is hands down an excellent veterinarian office! I've taken my dog Sophie here many times for medical treatment as well as boarding and grooming and they always shower her with affection. The team here is always upbeat and appear to really love what they do. I have to give kudos to how the team interacts with Sophie. They go above and beyond to give extra belly rubs and lots of words of encouragement to put her at ease when getting shots or being examined. Another advantage to City Vet besides their awesome care is their app which allows me to view Sophie's previous visits and have her vaccination records all in one convenient place. I took my two cats here for their annual wellness exams. I went to the exam room with the tech and was told they weren't due for any vaccines and asked if I wanted to just bring them back next year (even though annual exams are recommended for adult cats). I said I wanted them to get looked at and their nails trimmed. The tech then looked at their vaccination records on the computer, looked at the physical records I brought, and stepped outside of the exam room to talk to someone else, and came to the conclusion that one of the cat's was actually due for her FVRCP. They then took both of my cats out of the room for their nail trims. After a while the vet came in and explained there had been an incident with one of the cats where he got out of their grip and tried to escape. They got him back but only trimmed half of his nails which was fine with me. After the appointment we went home and I realized the cat that had escaped had chipped one of his canine teeth and the pulp was exposed. We went back and were essentially told "yeah that can happen with scared cats. it was fight or flight" and that he would probably have to have the tooth removed. They did not charge us for that appointment, however they did not offer any apology or financial compensation for the extraction procedure which they had quoted to be $600-$800. We took him to another vet specializing in dentistry for the chipped tooth however he also immediately noticed resorptive lesions in two of his teeth despite the vet at CityVet checking his teeth during the check up a few days before. I also looked at the physical vaccination records I had from their previous vet and had given copies of to CityVet. They had given an FVRCP vaccine to my cat who had already received a 3 year dose, 2 years ago. I emailed and asked why this happened and they called and said they had failed to upload some of the records from the previous vet into their system. This is unacceptable but even more so considering I had given the technician ALL of their records during the appointment to look at and he didn't catch the mistake. They apologized on the phone and refunded the cost of the vaccination but it is frustrating to see the carelessness from a vet's office. read more

Worst grooming, my dog came out wet, still matted, no perfume, no bandanna, paw still not trimmed. She stayed there for 8 days I requested for a bath work, and there's the problem. These people don't care about your dog, they care about your money. That is fine, I'm willing to pay, but if you see the dog needs a paw trim, don't act like you are a puppet and only do the minimal. You could have asked me if I would like a paw trimming and deshedding added. My dog should never come out still wet and matted and looks completely not completed her bath work after 8 days staying at your place. Show some care to your work is all I'm asking. And let me tell you, it's not the first time, I've been a very loyal customer of yours. This is very upsetting how you treat my dog. I asked to take her back and at least give her a brush out, because you don't even care to asked if she needs a deshedding or even recommended one for her, and you guys said it's close to closing so you can't do it today. Really? You called me 45 minutes prior to closing said she's ready for pick up, I picked her up 30 minutes before you closed and you don't have time to give her a brush to take out those behind ears matting at least? You had 8 days to plan what to do and you can't care enough to ask. Again, you need to care about your job to do a good job. If you don't care about animal welfare, and have no passion about animals, don't even be a groomer or work at a veterinarian office. Find another job. Was traveling with my fur baby when an "issue" came up on day one in Big D. Elvis suddenly began scratching incessantly, making himself raw. I had just picked him up from an 8 day board at our regular vet's facility in Austin before driving to Dallas.Concerned about infection and "eeks gasp!" the thought of FLEAS - even though he receives monthly treatment and has never had one single issue on over 11 years - I decided it was important to take him in and have him checked out. The fam and I were staying in our usual Addison hotel, so I called around and managed to find CityVet on my second try. They didn't have an appointment per se; however, they stated I could bring him in the next a.m., leave him, and that one of the vets would try to look at him during their lunch break. Really?! Wow! So sweet! So, I did...and they did. Yup! They found evidence of DEAD fleas and explained how some dogs are allergic to the excrement the little guys leave behind, even after death. Luckily, I took the time to give my dog a flea bath on the one day at home between the two trips because was already scratching when he normally doesn't, so I guess it killed any that wee on his body that he obviously picked up from our Austin vet center (ugh! another story!). Bottomline: Great customer service! Very patient and informative with a freakout D.O.G. mama like myself, and they gave Elvis tons of love! Highly recommend. If I lived in the area, CityVet-Addison would be my new vet. In any event, now I know if there is ever another problem (knock on wood) when making my average monthly trip, I know where to go. My dog was 15 years old in January 2022 when we had a dental cleaning at CityVet Addison. I was concerned about him going under anesthesia due to his age and if the procedure was necessary at his age. Vet told me that with "today's" anesthesia and dental procedures the risk of problems are minimal and I should get it done. I went against my better judgement and had them do it. Paid over $1000 for dental and small skin tag removal- which is fine. He ended up with tonsillitis, developed renal failure and his health deteriorated right after the procedure. Same vet recommended 3 times a week subq fluids due to the renal failure and him not eating or drinking as much. Long story short, went to another vet- they told me they would not have recommended a dental procedure, the subq fluids were marginally helpful and painful for him. If these people cared about my dog rather than my money, they would have told me the risks involved or advise me to get a second opinion. Thankfully under the care of another vet he's thriving at 16. But no thanks to CityVet Addison.if you have a senior dog or a dog with complications don't come here. There are other vets who actually care about the dogs' quality of life vs selling procedures. Addison- your vet did not tell me the risks involved for a senior dog undergoing anesthesia even when I voiced my concerns about it. So no, i don't recommend CityVet Addison and will never call you to discuss anything ever again. read more

Came here with a lost cat I had found at a friends house a few weeks ago. Staff was super friendly and helped me find the owners. I liked them so much in fact I set up appointments for my two cats. The COVID safe procedures work really well. Everyone stays in there cars and the doctor will get on the phone with you at the end of the appointment. Over all, staff is super sweet and the doctor was funny but also knowledgeable. One of my cats gets agitated by leaving the house and normally vet visits make her upset for a week. She came home and was straight back to normal so that's always a great sign that the staff was really careful while handling her and making her not scared. I cannot reccomend this place enough. My boyfriend and I had adopted a puppy from Operation Kindness and he soon started showing signs of sickness. We took him two places where he was misdiagnosed and as a last chance attempt we took him here. They immediatley got him in the room when they saw his condition. Unfourtantly, he was diagnosed with distemper and could barely walk on his own. They were so compassionate and kind when giving us the news. Dr. Lauren is absolutely horrendous. Of your dog needs basic care she can maybe do this ... maybe. However our dog has urinary issues for almost a year and half with Lauren doing nothing but charging us over and over and over. We needed to do a DR Fee, urine fee, urine needle fee, uti medications and then urine fee again!! We did this a handful of times and paying over $700 each time with no resolution or game plan. We kept emailing asking questions should we do this or that because why are you not helping our dog..... it's always bring her in.... why we never walked out with a game plan and it boiled over in frustration. We moved here from Minnesota and needed a Vet and they seemed good... clean location but way over priced fees ($600 nail trim). Please anyone reading this stay away from Lauren as she will do "basic" care but cannot think outside a box... you'll have to google everything and email her. After 1.5 and half of frustrating visits she emailed us and said she would "waive" the Dr visit to have us come in and meet with her for a game plan..... ummmm what about the 6-7 other visits with NO game plan. Oh Lauren will blame you the owner.... you didn't do this or do that.... stay away please stay away. Call another clinic because Lauren can maybe diagnose diarrhea.... maybe but if it's a runny nose she may have issues. ... but she will charge you for a lot of tests that come back normal and mean nothing towards anything. These guys really go above and beyond when it comes to taking care of your pet. I love that the vets take the time to chat to understand your pet's needs/problems and come up with viable solutions. When we adopted our puppy, he was a 10wk old stray riddled with ticks and horrible intestinal issues. After treatments, diet changes, frequent vet visits (thank goodness for the Puppy Package -- highly recommended), and lots of TLC, I can say our now 8mo old puppy is healthier than ever. It seriously wouldn't have been possible without the knowledge and care from the vets. Also, the team as a whole is fantastic. Always friendly, upbeat, and they make an effort to remember your name, which is a nice touch. Orders for food/meds are made in a timely manner. The facility is super clean and you don't feel like you're waiting in a big ball of shedded hair whenever you visit. Overall, it's an amazing place. read more

When I called they told me that if she was bleeding a lot that I could make an appointment to come back tomorrow. Their vets were all gone. I left literally five minutes ago. I love CityVet!!! I came a few months ago when my feline friend, Isabelle, was telling me she was sick by peeing in places she had no business peeing on. It was anywhere but her box. Isabelle had the same issue the year before. Took her to a vet down the road and felt I got the shaft and nothing really helped her. It was more of a temporary fix and then it came back. The vet I went to previously didnt do as much as Dr. Dennis and her team. I just felt like they were upselling me on things she might not need. I didnt get an education on how to prevent this in the future. Come to find out...Isabelle had bladder stones. I assume she was able to pass them the last time....but they creeped back up. Could be a few things....so I put her back on the special vet food to encourage her to drink more water. Dr. Dennis kept her on that diet because I have reason to suspect it was the food I was feeding her. They have a feline package that includes her shots....vet visits...and even discounts on services and food. The membership has paid for itself a few times. I may spend $60.00 each time I go to buy her food....but it is a big savings if I were to buy it anywhere else...like at other pet retailers...it would be about 100+. Her Rx diet will last me almost 3 months....and i would rather pay the premium instead of her having to be in pain. I feel Dr. Dennis and her team truly do love animals and want to make sure they are well taken care of. I have been to several vets with Isabelle and felt at ease once I was here. They took me in knowing I had to come from Southlake (where i work)...to my apartment in North Dallas...to CityVet....in rush hour traffic with a screaming cat in a kennel. They were so sweet and I was a hot mess when I walked in the door!!! Not rude...but stressed from the traffic and making it on time. Now Isabelle is happily peeing in her litter box....and has been much happier ever since coming to CityVet. I have Dr. Dennis and everyone to thank!! #1. They did not diagnose a heart murmur in a new dog of mine over the course of two years and multiple visits/checkups. #2. When that dog started coughing up blood, thinking it was something contractable... I was kept in the parking lot with my dog (understandably). But then they forgot I was there! I'm fine with waiting for others if they have an emergency, but when MY dog had an emergency... they basically said I needed to wait. Then to actually FORGET I WAS THERE WAITING!!!??? I blew up at them and they finally saw him... not that it ended up doing much good. #3. I took my new dog there to see the vet for an established appointment. But the vet didn't show and they didn't call me until 5 minutes before I arrived... guess what, I was already on the way. called me at 9:13, I arrived at 9:22 for a 9:30 appointment. They basically said, we have no idea when we can see you. They are disrespectful of peoples time. #4. Costs at this place are through the roof. You're paying for their very nice coffee machine and new chairs. Personally I'd rather have lower costs. I will say this, Dr. Lauren was very kind when we had to put our first dog to sleep because of his heart issues that were never diagnosed. They made a heartbreaking event a little more bearable... but it would have been better to catch that issue when he was a puppy, and to have saved me the heartache and $5,000 in vet bills. I used to like this place, but I'm going to have to go elsewhere because the service there has just been horrid in the last few months that I've needed to use them. read more

I just recently adopted two 14 week old german shepherd puppies and they both had worms, skin mites, and ticks. We called a couple other vet offices the morning after we adopted them, but CityVet was the only place that worked with us to make a spot for the both of them, back to back. The person I spoke to was very thorough and helpful when trying to find a solution for us and eventually we were able to find a spot for them. We brought them both in and they were able to treat them efficiently and effectively. They even gave us a couple cans of wet dog food because the pups had loved them so much when they fed them during their exams! The doctor was very thorough in her explanations and we left very satisfied. The next day we had to bring the runt of the litter in because he was not eating, vomiting, and sleeping a bit too much. When we brought him in, the doctor tested him for parvovirus. Unfortunately, he tested positive but we were given so many different treatment options for our baby. We decided to hospitalize him at CityVet, and they have been sending me updates very regularly. These people are so amazing. They truly care about your pets and you, and they work to provide the best service, prices, and opportunities for your fur babies. They are so thorough with their work and they try to provide the best possible choices for you when it comes to situations like mine. I had a lot of questions and my doctor explained everything so well to me. Although I left uneasy because I was worried about my baby, I knew that he was in good hands. He is currently doing better, but we are still waiting on him to fully recover! If you are looking to find a great vet that offers amazing plans, I absolutely recommend CityVet. I love the Addison location the most! The facility is clean, the staff is awesome, and I'm just so happy with my experience there so far. I took my dog in for bathworks on Friday and told the attendant that I absolutely did not any "doggie perfume, cologne, etc" on her. It is foul smelling, I can't stand it and would think that a dog would be miserable having to smell that awful odor. Someone put it on her anyway. When I let them know about this I got a lame, canned apology. Who ever put this wretched "perfume" on her should be sprayed with it themselves to see how they like it. read more

I always feel as though I'm being upsold here. Feels kind of like going to a human dentist and they try to sell you all these services you don't need. Instead of explaining it's normal for dogs to reverse sneeze, they tried to make me get an expensive x-ray. They also don't tell you when services have charges, so be sure to ask about everything before agreeing. There is one vet in particular who had a condescending attitude when I declined some services that weren't essential. The vet techs and receptionists are awesome though so I am giving two stars for them. read more

I can finally say that I found the vet I'll take all my animals to! The prices are reasonable and the service is great! You can tell that the staff loves their job and that your pets are in good hands. They had a lot of customers who the staff knew by name so you know that they're doing something right if their customers keep coming back. I also like how their facility is very clean and how their staff is very patient and very willing to answer all, and boy do I have a lot, of questions. When one of my kitties needed a thorough dental clean, I was recommended to CityVet. It's a drop off service at the moment so, you stay in your car and call when you arrive. Staff then proceeds to come out and bring your pet inside. But, they gave me all the time in the world to calm my kitty. Didn't make me feel rushed. The vet called me soon after to explain the procedure and if I wanted the pre-op blood work done they usually do. Just to make sure kitty is fine for anesthesia. They explained what they would be checking for and the price. They found a heart murmur which the previous vet did not. We then proceeded with a echocardiogram to check the severity of the heart mumur. I LOVE CityVet Addison! They really do care about you and your furry companion. Pros - - Clean facility - SUPER NICE - they really do take time out of their day to listen to you and make sure that all of your questions are answered. We recently added a pup to the family and we had a TON of questions. They called us and made us feel a lot more confident in our decision and what we were doing. - Informative - they texted me when my dog was about to get put under for his teeth cleaning so that I would know when it was happening. That's only one example of what they do to help. Con - The ONLY con is that I wish they had day play. They only have day boarding. They walk your dog several times throughout the day, but your dog isn't getting to socialize with others. Unlike most day play places though, he comes out smelling good and not stinky. read more

I have taken my rescue Labrador, Stoney, to Dr. Mauritzen since 2015 when I adopted him. I never knew exactly how old he was, but he was gray muzzled when I got him. He had been "seized for cruelty" and was taken in by DFW Lab Rescue. He had health issues which Dr. Mauritzen took care of over the years. I found Dr. M and her staff to be caring and accommodating in every instance. He was just the best, sweetest, loving dog I could have ever asked for, so when he reached the point where he was continually collapsing due to spinal compression and couldn't control his bowels, I wanted his passing to be as easy for him (and me) as possible. Dr. M came to my home and sedated, then euthanized him with me and my husband loving on him as he crossed that rainbow bridge. There is not much worse than making this decision for a pet that is part of the family, but Dr. M certainly helped to make it the least stressful it could be for Stoney and us. Claudia R. read more

Absolute best vet my friend and I have been too. He's always been well treated and taken care of. I'm not sure how they do it, but CityVet always charm him into doing the things he hates the most (like being probed). Staff is always friendly and the facilities are always clean. I was talking to a vet student once about a problem I was having with my pup. She asked who my vet was and after I answered, she just said wow never mind you have nothing to worry about. read more
