My recent experience with the yard dog location in Addison. I'm not one to leave bad reviews being a buisness owner myself, but I felt like I should leave my input. I have a miniature schnauzer that goes literally everywhere I go being that she's my emotional support animal after losing my brother to suicide last year. My mother is having a surgery in Addison and they don't allow pets in hospitals of course so we decided to find a sitter for the day. We dropped her off at 7 am with the yard dog with her favorite toy and a bag of dog food that we brought for the few days we were in town. The staff were all nice people. They offer dog grooming for pets at a high price. We decided to get her groomed there to pass time for her knowing she would at least be with someone for longer period of time instead of being kenneled all day. We told them she just needed a trim and specifically not to cut her beard and eyebrows because we were growing her out since she had been a puppy. We like the traditional schnauzer cut just wanted to leave it longer for the upcoming winter months. Well we picked up our pup at 6:30 to find our dog completely shaved scabs on tops of both of her ears from there clippers. Pretty sad seeing that considering she goes to the groomer back home in Lubbock Texas every other 5 weeks and has never came home with buzzer nicks or cuts. Then we got back to our hotel and swayzi runs to her water bowl and drinks water like I've never seen her drink water before almost like she hadn't had water all day. Also when we picked her up they couldn't find the big bag of dog food we left for her but they managed to find her toy because I'm sure it was sitting on the desk we left it on for her when they took her back. They have cameras you can watch your dog through the app while they are out playing. I was told they would send me a message when she was out playing so I could check on the cameras to watch her. Checked the cameras all day and never seen her on the cameras not once nor did I receive a text that she was out playing like I was told. Here's some before and after pics of swayzi to show the grooming she had done

I hate to have to be writing this but I feel it's needed to spread the word about our bad experience and to keep other dogs safe. To preface, we have been sending our dogs to daycare here for over a year now and they always came back in good shape. Our dogs are young and high energy, so we know the risks of daycare and boarding facilities and that scuffles and disagreements in the yard can happen. However, I can't let this one go and want to others. Yesterday, I dropped my dog Cora off for a fun day at daycare and received a phone call around 10 am staring that she was very injured and was going to the vet to be looked over and call back asap. I called them back within 5 minutes, and got the answering service. I then called 4 other times over the course of 20 minutes without hearing back. I was at work, so in the time I packed up and got in the car, it had been 45 minutes of not hearing anything. I had friends and my fiancé calling and finally my fiancé got a hold of them after calling a few times. They explained she had a wound but they didn't know what happened and that she needed to go to vet. She never called me back personally. When I got there, my dog was by herself in her kennel. Starla, the manager, was completely unphased, slowly finished up work on her desk computer and on phone with clients all while telling me to just wait a second. I didn't know where Cora was or what her condition was. She didn't say what vet she was taking her to. It sounded like she was taking her ASAP. She eventually brings her down after I demanded she go get her, all while trying to tell me she will be fine and it's not that bad. She said they will pay for the vet bill. At first, my dog seemed okay and like it was just a flesh wound that needed to be looked over and maybe a few stitches. I decided to take her myself to the vet and communicated where I was taking her. I put a towel down in my car because I noticed she was bleeding. (At end of the day, I had to throw the towel away because of the amount of blood that was pouring out of her wound and the vet office had to mop the floor because of her blood) We waited over 3 hours at the vet to be seen, and it turned out she needed 4 stitches internally and 4 outer stitches and was deeper and more painful than we realized. It took the yard dog hours to call the vet back and pay for the bill as the vet could not operate on her until they called back and claimed financial responsibility. So, my dog was sitting in the vet office in pain for longer than necessary at this point that as owners, we were about to just pay the bill so we could get the surgery started and get her pain relief. I texted their text line around 1 pm for Starla to call me back and she never did. The vet said that there was no way this was from a scuffle, and something had to have punctured her and it didn't seem like a tooth but something in the play yard or someone had done it to her themselves. No one called me back the rest of the day or texted to check in on her. I called this morning and spoke with Starla again. She never asked how she was doing. She was defensive and argumentative from the get go and was not open at all to hearing how this was unacceptable and poor communication. I explained that I'm not upset that Cora got hurt but by how this was handled. I also felt like them truly not knowing what hurt her so badly was concerning. They refused to let me look through the cameras to see what happened. I asked for higher up management contact info and Starla would not give it to me and stated she did not have that info, although she stated she communicates any and all injuries with them previously. I am glad they paid for her vet bills but the way Starla handled this and the lack of compassion they had around this has me forced to never bring my dogs back and wonder from now on what I wasn't told and what really happened.

I was referred to The Yard Dog from another business that is under the same umbrella company but had filled up for thanksgiving week. I never board them or go anywhere, I was happy that they were so accommodating here and able to reserve boarding for 6 nights. Everyone that I had met from the staff was very friendly, genuine and helpful from drop off to pickup! I can tell this staff and their business went above and beyond to please my dogs and ensure they had a great stay! I was able to see everything on camera everyday. I saw staff regularly maintain the playground areas when a dog would relieve themselves and I saw staff always attending to the dogs on the playground and even in my dogs kennel with camera. Upon pickup I could tell they received great exit baths and both hound dog girls were happy to see me and not stressed whatsoever! The price to board my dogs here was also under what other facilities had quoted me prior. All in all I can't say thank you enough to this staff and how comfortable I felt as I watched daily on camera and how great of a job they all did!! THANK YOU, I will come back with both my dogs!

    Zoey enjoying time at daycare!

We adopted a pup 7 weeks ago, and I happened to figure out that the Yard Dog was the facility where she was kept while waiting to be adopted. We needed a place to board her for an upcoming trip, and I was excited that she could stay somewhere that she was familiar with. We took her to daycare for a trial day prior to boarding. We were able to see her on the cameras, and she was playing hard. She fell asleep on the way home. The staff are very nice and happy to answer questions. It's easy to make reservations online, too.

I could tell by his body language in the photos that he wasn't enjoying his stay. During pickup, I was immediately hit with a stench of uncleaned pee and poop that wasn't there when I dropped him off. The attendant retrieved my dog and informed me that they did not give him the exit bath I paid for, but she refunded me. No problem. I appreciate the attendant for automatically refunding me. The problems started as soon as we got outside. My dog went to the first patch of grass and peed. He peed so long that he squatted like a female. He peed for at least 2 mins straight. Next, we get in the car and he and his bed smell like rancid piss. We get home and as soon as he gets out of the car, he poops in the parking garage. The poop was BIG and HARD like it was compacted. I get him to the bath then immediately after, as I'm drying him, he poops more HUGE impacted poops. Tbh I don't really think they let him use the restroom for at least the day that I picked him up. It seemed like they just let the dogs go to the restroom in the kennels. If you need a boarding facility, this one will keep your dog alive but you may not get a happy dog back.

Our cats recognize her, and are excited to see her! Each time Robin arrives and leaves, we receive a notification based on her GPS location, so we're able to track how long she spends with our cats. Each time she visits, she spends at least 30 minutes with them. She also sends us a comprehensive report each time she visits, which includes a write-up, pictures, and other important information. She's also done little things to go above and beyond - she swept the floor before we arrived home because our cats had tracked some litter throughout the house. If you're in the market for a pet sitter, I would HIGHLY recommend Your Home Pet Care!

We get texted a picture of each cat or several and a written update on how the visit went. We have never had 1 issue with anything missing or even a picture frame moved out of place. My husband is a worrier about our lovely cat family and it puts his mind at ease using this service and how well cared for our cats are. We have a shy kitty that will hide from time to time, but YHPC sitters eventually will win her over and coax her out to feed and get petted. I highly recommend this service for peace of mind and your pets will be happier at home and less stressed. :)
