Staff is unwilling to make your pet comfortable! Made me swab my dog's ear for an ear infection. He's not vicious. He's a puppy who was abused and scared of people and just needed some pets, and comforting. They could not spend 20 minutes to gain his trust, make him feel comfortable, so suggested I SEDATE him for future visits, because they're too lazy to spend 20 minutes with a new patient for their $100 visit. They also prescribed a medicine for deworming, which Amazon sells for $16~ (Panacur-C) they wanted $64! 400% markup? So hard to find a caring and honest vet! I will never go back there. read more

This isn't the small town vet that I remember taking my childhood dogs to 20 years ago. It's not the kind, friendly place that Dr. Sherrill use to run. I was in town for for the holidays and my dog came down with something--diarrhea for three days and no appetite. I called in the morning and got an appointment for that afternoon--they even still had my family on file from back in the day. I arrived to my appointment about 5 minutes late thanks to the school zone on MacArthur. The front desk lady left when I got there and came back a moment later to say that Dr. Morrison was on to his next appointment and couldn't see me. She suggested a few emergency clinics to visit instead. Look, I get it I was late but what's happened to Dr. Morrison to make him so cold hearted and strict? That's not the guy I remember kindly taking care of my aging childhood dogs after Dr. Sherrill sold him the practice so many years ago. It's a shame that such a long term member of the Coppell community would turn away a sick dog because of a barely late owner. It's a shame that this business has lost its community values that we all use to hold so dear. I suggest staying away from these folks and trying out one of the other long established vets in Coppell--like the one across from St. Anns that took us in last minute at the end of the day and quickly treated my pup. read more

If I could put 0 stars I would. We've had issues with this vet in the past that caused our cat to pass away. Yet again we call asked for assistance with our 18 year old cat who is suffering at home and they couldn't even make time to let us sneak in and us put her down so she didn't suffer through the night until morning. They simply said well we're full today in sorry it will have to wait until morning. This has been our vet for years and we have them multiple chances after the experiences we've had but it's time to share. We then called a vet right next to our home and they said that they were so very sorry and they were full today but if we felt we wanted to bring her up to be put to sleep we were welcome to come right up they could make room that she didn't need to suffer over night. THAT is what a vet is supposed to do. read more

I had a bad experience with Mr Morrison and I will not be returning. I spent over $500 there in less than two weeks and just wanted to pay to run one more test to ensure that doing what the dr had recommended actually helped my dog. I booked an appointment to solely run this test. Took the day off of work to take my dog to her appointment. When I got there they took my dog in the back and would not let me come with her bc I was not paying for a doctors visit. Five minutes later they brought her back out and told me they would not run the test to see if the medicine they prescribed her helped unless I book another appointment and pay for a doctors visit. After spending $500 I have no idea if what I did helped my dog at all and I wasted my entire day. It takes less than five minutes to perform this test and read the results but the doctor cared more about getting $60 then he did about the quality of life of my dog and also completely disregarded the value of my time and the mistake of his front desk for telling me that I could return to run the test without needing a doctors visit. It's a shame to see a vet take this approach and not show compassion for the animal or to be able to empathize for his customers. The dr. Called, showed some humility and made up for the mistake. I have been going to river haze for over 20 years. I have two cats that I take in annually. I have never asked for any special treatment. Yesterday I found my kitty in a coma-like state In her litter box. She had just been to the vet several days prior. I called snd said I needed to get in right away. The lady that answered said that they were short staffed and had appointments all day and could not take me. I pleaded with her to no avail. This is how a customer of 20 years is treated. Riverchase Animal Hospital is conveniently located a few meters from my house, and with an accident prone child who loves to get into every thing it's soooo convenient! The staff here can not get any nicer and sympathetic than these guys. Last time I had to bring my son here was around 5:20PM on a Friday ( I called & was 25 minutes away) when he decided to helped himself to an entire box of chocolate. (my other son called panicking) The lady on the phone was an angel and said "Just get here, we'll be here till 6". They took care of him and had us out in about 40 minutes. There are 3 different vets, two of which we have seen and both were friendly, informative and love dogs! It gets better, way better. The prices for each of our visits have been drastically under what I have always expected. They don't add on all the different bull that other vets I have been to do. If you live in the Coppell/Valley Ranch area this is the best place to take your child or cat! read more

They take care of both of my dogs here. The staff handles both the super friendly and the super protective personalities well. Routine visits are just that. Did bring in one of my dogs for a broken leg. Doctor did their best to brace it enough before a specialists could take a look. Best part I was probably the last visitor on Saturday. We are new to Riverchase, and they have been amazing support through my dog Midge's serious illness - Autoimmune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia. This is an aggressive disease, and Dr. Robinson was able to diagnose it right away with blood work and an exam and put her on the appropriate medicine. They didn't nickel and dime me with charges when I had to come in 2 days in a row. Dr. Robinson has really gone above and beyond for me and my dog. He encouraged me to email him with any questions I had (and of course I had many, because I was so emotional when I first heard the diagnosis, that I had a hard time comprehending). The whole staff is thoughtful and you can tell they love animals. I couldn't have made it through this difficult time without their help. read more

I wish I could give this place zero stars to write this review. I had the worst experience I have ever had at this veterinarian office. A while ago my dog, Rocky, passed away from a tragic accident. Shortly there after my mother became very ill and passed away. After that my husband and I experienced another tragedy by losing our baby. The vet had send me a bill and with everything that had happened in my life I forgot to pay it. We moved and I never got a notice and it just slipped my mind to pay. I went to my dads house and found a letter from the vet saying I had thirty days to pay or they would send it to collections. I called and asked if it was to late to do an installment plan on my payments, since it was very expensive. The receptionist (who they referred to as the accountant, which she was not) called me back and said the doctor was willing to allow me to split the payment into two if I paid the first that day. Then she stated that Rocky had been privately cremated, making it seem like that was the reason why my bill was so expensive. She said the only way he would have been privately cremated if if me or my husband signed off on it. I told her we had not and asked he she had our signature anywhere on file. She said they had changed computer systems and had no record of that. I then asked to speak to the doctor to which she replied she would give him my number and then she HUNG UP on me. I called my husband to confirm that we had not signed off on a private cremation. I then called back, since she hung up on me. And she stated "the doctor now wants you to pay everything up front and he does not want to talk to you." I started to ask her questions and she ignored me saying, "I do not want to have this conversation." I asked if I came in if I could speak to the doctor and she said "no, he doesn't want to speak to you and I don't want to speak to you either." And then she HUNG UP on me again. All I wanted was to know about the payments so I could understand. The situation got me very upset since it brought up memories of my dogs tragic death and that whole terrible day. I immediately left work crying and went straight to the vet. My husband met me there and the lady I spoke with was again very rude. She said the doctor did not want to see me. I asked her why she hung up on me, and she said "I'm just the messenger." She looked at my husband and said "she kept asking questions..." And my husband interrupted her and said "so that gave you the right to hang up on my wife?" At this point the doctor walked out and instructed us into the very room I had taken Rocky into and watched him die. I was visibly upset still crying. The doctor never once looked me in the eyes and spoke directly to my husband. My husband explained out situation, which I had already explained to the receptionist earlier. The doctor then agreed to allow us to split the payments into two. I asked him about the private cremation and he directed his answer at my husband saying he would change the price to a regular cremation. Turns out, a private cremation wasn't even that much more. All I wanted was information on my payments, and if we signed off on private cremation. The doctor still never looked at me and NEVER APOLOGIZED for his rudeness or the receptionists rudeness. It was by far the worst experience of my life. Rocky was a gift to me from my mother. The whole situation was very emotional for me given the circumstances surrounding my dog and mother. I had to take the rest of the day off from work because I was very very upset. I cried so much that day. I cannot believe they never apologized for their behavior. I was not hostile with them I just had questions. I don't know what was so wrong with me having questions. I would never recommend this vet to anyone ever. On top of my awful experience, they have outrageous prices. They have no bedside manner and do not care about their customers at all. I want anyone who reads this to know my experience and to never go there. I will post anywhere I can this review to let the world know how terrible these people are. Since I posted this, they made a few attempts to delete it. They changed their Facebook page so you can't comment on my original post or make a new one. So I'm adding it here....Dr Matthew Morrison replied on my Yelp review basically stating that I had ample opportunity to make payments. And AGAIN he did not apologize in his post. I called and made an appointment with Jessica for an allergy shot only. My husband took my baby up there and before he could speak the lady came from the back , asked for my dogs name and took her to the back and gave her a FLU shot. Our appointment was for an allergy shot NOT A FLU VACCINE. So when I asked why was she giving a flu shot and not allergy shot the nurse or whatever she is responds with " I thought that's what you were here for. She needed her booster flu vaccine but we can still give her a allergy shot." And instead of owning up to there mistakes they tried to place the blame on me for missing an appointment that we had scheduled earlier in the month. "Like what? " They also tried to place the blame on Jessica saying she wrote it down wrong. I know that to be untrue because I've spoken to Jessica several times and she is the one who recommended the shot for my dog allergies. Long story short DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET TO THIS VET if you care for them BECAUSE THIS PLACE IS A RECKLESS. read more

I have a thirteen year old Yorkie who goes here and he's never had any complaints. Been a regular customer for eight years. I wish they offered weekend grooming. They have run on the more expensive side of things, but my dog is my best friend so it's worth it to me. The price matches to the level and quality of care. Everyone has been friendly to me and to my dog when we're there and most of the front desk staff have been there for several years. Very clean facility and my dog loves to pee on the outside of the building, so I guess he likes it too. read more

Riverchase Animal Hospital has been so disappointing I will never return. First off, I took my dog there last September (2020) for a possible UTI and was not allowed to go in with him for the exam. They did not find anything wrong, so I accepted that thinking they were trustworthy. My dog continued to show signs of discomfort, so I took him back in February 2021, where I still was not allowed to go in with him. They did not find anything yet again, but they prescribed antibiotics "just in case". They also said they ran a culture for more in-depth results, but due to the winter storm, it was ruined so they contacted me to refund the culture rather than offer to bring my dog back in to collect another sample. In March, my dog's condition had gotten much worse, so I took him to a different vet where I was actually allowed to go in with my pup. This time, his urine panel showed his levels all over the place and it was just a mess. After a couple treatments, he has been diagnosed with kidney disease. My current vet said, and I quote, "I have no idea how the last vet did not see this on the urine panel, it is very clear that your dog has had this issue for quite a while". So I have no idea if they actually even ran a panel since I wasn't allowed to go in or what was going on, but my dog suffered needlessly for an entire year due to the incompetence of this clinic. Fast-forward to this week (8/10/2021), I had booked my dog for boarding here as the current vet clinic we are using now does not offer boarding. Riverchase already has my dog's records and they did have good reviews so I figured I'd give them one more chance. I booked this weeks in advance, only to be called by Kathy at 4pm the DAY BEFORE I was to drop him off to be told that they "never should have accepted his reservation" because they don't take "dogs like him". When I brought him in Sept. 2020, I put a muzzle on him as they were doing an exam on his boy parts and since he was in pain, and I knew he would not willingly let them touch that area. They marked on his records "must be muzzled at all times" because of this without me knowing that, and thus he was labeled as an un-boardable dog. When I asked Kathy if they have ever had a problem with him (I wouldn't know since I've never been allowed to go in) she stated "no, he's just listed as must be muzzled at all times and we can't have a dog like that". If you don't want to take my dog, that is perfectly fine, and frankly I don't want my dog staying with a clinic that clearly does not know what they're doing, but please inform clients AHEAD OF TIME- better yet, DON'T accept the reservation to start with! She did offer me a different place to board him, but it was stressful and uncomfortable to say the least. My pup is my furbaby, and I was not happy about the idea of booking him to stay somewhere last minute that I had never even heard of or been able to research ahead of time. Also Riverchase, how about not labeling dogs incorrectly? I will NEVER return to this horrible clinic, I truly don't understand all the positive reviews as I have been here 3 times and all have been negative. Oh, they also won't accept 1800-pet meds/ Chewy requests because they want to make sure they milk all the money they can. Just another negative with this clinic. Do yourself a favor and take your baby to a clinic that is ACTUALLY trustworthy and capable of taking care of animals, because Riverchase sure is NOT it. read more

After 11 long months of ups and downs with a serious skin issues, we switched to Riverchase and Dr Robinson suggested that we hit this issue fast, furious and for more time than most other Vets would. 2 months later, she is almost 100% better!! The staff has been great and we feel right at home when we walk in the door. Dr Robinson and his staff have made my little girl so much better. They fit me in anytime I call, prices are great and love how they recommend some home remedies. Thanks again for helping to care for our precious baby. read more

My dogs have been going to Riverchase Animal Hospital since they became part of our family. Calvin for 4 years and Waffles for 3 years. The staff here (especially Miss Barbara at the front desk) are a joy to work with every visit. Dr. Morrison takes time to get to know you and your pets and he is always gentle and discusses options with you. Dr. Robinson was new to us but he had Calvin wrapped around his little finger in one visit. I wish I still lived in this area to continue to work with these vets and their wonderful team. They CARE about everyone who walks through the door and will follow up with you each visit if/when needed. Being a new dog owner, it is always concerning when your pup has issues, especially so early on. I had our pup neutered at a low-cost vet because it seemed like a routine procedure. Little did I know that 5 days later, an infection would come up and would need much more treatment than the low-cost clinic could offer. I initially had to take my pup to an emergency vet because it was after regular hours, and I got him looked at and cleaned out the infection, but the e-vet suggested a procedure that they would charge me $800.00 for. Since that wasn't in the budget, I opted to give our pup antibiotics and wait for a regular vet to be available. I called Riverchase on Monday morning, and they were kind and understanding and patient. I got an appointment for a time that was convenient to me (5 pm) that same day. Once we got there, every staff member, vet tech and Dr. Dees was absolutely incredible! Dr. Dees confirmed that, while further surgery would correct the issue, it wasn't necessary with proper precaution, which we were already doing. They did prescribe a higher powered antibiotic, and while my pup becomes lethargic after taking it for a couple of hours, he's adjusting well to it and the healing process continues! So thankful for this vet and everyone that I have had the pleasure of talking to! The reassurance and kindness shown has been absolutely incredible! read more

We have three dogs: two labradors and one beagle. We first visited this clinic in December 2012. I'd just had a baby, and this office was closest to our house and easiet to get all of the dogs in for their shots. I paid nearly $1000 to have the shots, exams and requried annual tests for the three dogs. Ouch! Here's the positive: the vet we saw was very gentle and kind to all of the dogs. The vet tech also seemed very kind and genuine with the dogs. Here's the negative: Our beagle has been on thyroid medication for years. Her pills have consistently cost around $25 for a 6-month supply--even buying them direct from high-end vet offices. When I was paying for her medication at Riverchase, they charged me almost $80. I was shocked. I inquired as to why they cost so much. Keep in mind, I'd already paid $200-$300 for the annual shots, examine and blood test required to renew her prescription. It turns out that they charge a $10 dispensing fee plus there was at least a 100% mark-up on the meds. I decided to order the meds online. Here came the next obstacle. The vets office won't confirm or reply to a prescription from an online vendor, like Foster & Smith or 1-800-PETMEDS. You have to make another trip to their office and get the written prescription--no, they don't know how to email it to you, either. I just went through this same experience all over again trying to order heartworm pills online. Overall: over the past few years, we've lived in different states and seen several different vets offices. This is the only clinic that I feel seems far more interested in making money than keeping a dog healthy and an owner calm. It's sad that that is the case. We won't be back. read more

Tests, tests, and more tests. This vet seems inclined to perform unnecessary procedures. I went in earlier this year because my 9 year old doxie suffered an oral infection. We thought it was quite evident from the bloody and inflamed gums and the raw wound that appeared on her nose from rubbing at it incessantly--but not to the vet apparently! They kept ordering test after test to rule out everything but the obvious. They even tried to quote us a dental procedure $1000 more than the previous vet that we checked with. We finally got tired of our wallets getting bled dry and watching our pup suffer, so we politely declined any further testing and asked them to give our pup an antibiotic. As soon as she started taking the Clavamox she improved! After 48 hours she was eating and playing again. While I thought most of the staff was friendly (going so far as to call about my pup's status almost every day) and the facility was very nice, I did not appreciate that they were prolonging my pup's suffering needlessly while they ran their tests. I'll own up to the fact that my pup's dental hygiene isn't the best, but letting 2 weeks elapse while waiting on tests would strain any furparent's patience or understanding. I was ready to go to Banfield after this experience. read more

Riverchase Animal Hospital is the best! For more than 4 years now my husband and I have taken our three dogs here, we live in Dallas and don't mind at all making the drive. This is a state-of-the-arc clinic, very clean and comfortable too. The staff has always been friendly and caring with our pups. Dr. Morrison is wonderful! Always very detailed in his examinations and our dogs just love him. They don't overcharge or want to run unnecessary test or procedures; whenever possible they try to save you money (like buying prescriptions online for heartguard). I also really like that in case of an emergency or after hours you can always reach Dr Morrison or the on call vet. We have always been very pleased with their service and will continue to take our four legged kids to see him. read more

Had a family emergency and needed a veterinarian/animal clinic to board our dog - with about 10 minutes notice. Our usual vet was unable to board the dog, so a family member recommended Riverchase. The staff could not have been more courteous and willing to help us. When we picked up our dog (a week later), he was bathed and groomed - excited and glad to see us. They are like that classic family practice with animals, because they consider your pet as a family member!!! You can talk to them about the concerns you have regarding your pet, and they really listen. They have been there for me through the best of times with my animals, and the worst of times too!! COMPLETELY APPALLED by the service I have received the past couple of days. My dog had been in because he had lost his hearing. Dr. Dees had put him on two different medications. He started having side effects with the medicine and I had called the clinic on Tuesday, I believe I spoke to a girl named Melissa (not positive) and told her what was going on. She was nothing but insensitive and dismissive. I explained he had been on medicine and he was acting severely dehydrated and could no longer control his bladder. She said she could not help and I would have to talk to Dr. Dees. The next day I was trying to be very patient, Dr. Dees did not call me back until around 6:30pm, I missed the call and when I tried returning the call found out the clinic closes at 6:00. I called left a return message and then tried again this morning (Thursday), once again the same girl as before answered the phone, when I tried explaining why I called she simply said 'yes I got your message and will pass it along.' She was incredibly dismissive once again. By this point I knew that I was not going to receive any help anytime soon. As it turns out my dog was having a BAD reaction to the medication he was prescribed. I scheduled an appointment with a friend's vet who personally talked to me and saw my dog within a half hour of calling. My dog is now on two different medicines to try and control the side effects he was experiencing. I will never recommend this vet or take my dog here again. My dog is part of the family and I want to take him to a vet who treats him as such and actually cares. There was one lady who I talked to who was nice, I did not catch her name, but she was able to quickly fax over Ryder's medical records to the new vet. For that I thank her because Ryder received the attention and care he needed. Since posting this post on Google as well as on their Facebook page. They have called once (I work so I missed the call), no message was left and they simply deleted the post off of their Facebook. My family members are also pulling their dogs from this vet. Yesterday evening I did receive another call and a voice-mail apology from one of the managers, who had seen the Facebook post. She wanted to make sure that nothing like this happens again.
