A very cool bottle shop that sells a variety of craft beers in singles format. I have not sat in to enjoy a beverage yet but plan on it when things get back to normal. Usually has everything I am looking for and I have never walked out empty handed. Very reasonably priced as well. Many fridges where the beers are kept at the perfect temperature. There's not much more American than a dog and a beer but this very cool bottle shop takes it to the next level! We're talking gourmet dogs and an impressive selection of bottles and drafts. These folks might be off the beaten path for some. It's about one minute from the Lansdale exit of 476. For those technology challenged, your GPS might object to the tiny town of Kulpsville. Use Lansdale and you'll be fine. I made the trip up yesterday for an early lunch and discovered that the shop was run by two very personable and knowledgeable sisters. These ladies know their beer! Expect excellent CUSTOMER SERVICE. I love high ABV brews and I was in heaven here. I enjoyed a Pizza Boy Double and an Allagash James Bean both on draft. We're talking 12%-13%. You need to take it easy with these bad boys. My first dog was called the "Cole" for $3.65. It came with slaw and a spicy chipotle ranch dressing. My second dog was a classic chili dog for $3.50. The chili was spot on and they even added a spoon to my order to grasp the spilled deliciousness. Two dogs and two beers made for an outstanding lunch! If this sounds good to you then get off your butt and make the trip. If you are a beer aficionado this should be DESTINATION spot for you. read more

I was passing this place yesterday and decided it would be a great thing to have a hotdog for a quick lunch. I was walking to the front door and there was a "dog" standing there looking out at me from inside the place.It was a real dog , not a hot dog.... They have there hotdogs listed in their front window and they looked pretty interesting.... but the real dog in the place really turned me off. I passed and did not try CJs but am giving it 5 stars so I don't mess up their high-rating! This review is based on the food experience only. They have an amazing selection of beers. If you are just looking to sit and drink fine craft beer and have a bag of potato chips, this is the place. If you made the mistake I did, which was to assume this was going to be a kick ass hotdog place, don't go. The concept of the Dog House is awesome, the execution on the food was not. I have honestly had better hotdogs from Wawa or 7-Eleven. There is no kitchen, it is a counter with a hot dog roller cooker, a small warming station for toppings (which was empty) and a microwave. So if you are into having all of your toppings microwaved and then dumped on top of a tough hot dog and a roll that was firm and flavorless, this is the place. I am not exaggerating, I so wanted to like this place. The roll is too large for the dog, a nice warm soft potato roll would drastically improve their dogs. I also tried a grilled cheese, it was leaps and bounds better then the hot dogs. Just don't come here for the food, come to relax and enjoy a glass of wine or a nice craft beer. read more

Such a sweet nook of a spot to grab some great brews and munch on some really fun, inspired and flavorful hot dogs. The wife and I had a quick lunch here today. We never expected a place like this to open close to us, but we're glad they did. Some very nice, and interesting, hot dog choices...though the dogs seem to take a back seat to the craft beer selection. It's a new joint, and the girl working the counter really wants to grow the biz...I imagine that soon the food will grow to match the beer. My dog was a nice grilled all-beef dog on a potato roll, with bacon, mac n cheese (kraft, and i'm not sad about that at all), and bbq sauce. The roll was bit too crumbly to handle the dog and stuff toppled out, but that was fixed with a fork ;) Perhaps next time I'll opt for the pretzel roll. It's a simple formula, and a good one. I imagine that with time and some casual experimentation, the place will come into its own. It was mentioned that they might add charcuterie and cheeses to the food options, in my opinion a very good idea. Chips would help, and I don't think they would 'tart' the place up any. In fact, I would think a good olive tray, along with some other pickled goodies would compliment the food and beer selection nicely. The decor was nice. Stools around wooden tables. Again, it was a simple formula that worked well. If you're looking for a quick lunch or dinner, or a place to hang out with a few friends and you live in the area, I recommend. I was craving a good beer and hotdog, so we stopped by here on a Friday night. They have an extensive bottled and tap beer selection. I was happy to see some strong beers from the West Coast on tap. They also have a variety of CJ's paraphernalia including plenty of growlers. The place isn't huge, but that means every seat in the house has a good view of the TV. They have a long wooden bar-top table that has communal seating and a few regular round tables that groups tend to grab. It gets a little tight for people grabbing to-go bottles to maneuver around the dine-in crowd. I definitely had a few folks bump into my knees while trying to watch a game. Luckily, they were all nice and apologetic. I was surprised with the good quality of the table service considering the server had her baby with her. It was definitely a unique experience ordering food while a baby laughed and smiled at me. The servers kindly took the time to grab samples of beer before ordering a pint. We had a Chicago Dog, a grilled cheese (can't remember which type), and a pepperoni flatbread/pizza (they subbed the pepperoni for a spicy sausage and I think it's no longer on the menu). All the food was good. The hotdog was filling, but I probably could've eaten a second. The pizza tasted like it may have been a frozen one, but it was tasty after a few pints and with the spicy sausage. The best part was that they have a Donkey Kong Jr arcade game in the back! read more

I had driven by this place countless time and it wasn't until my Relay for Life team meetings were held here that I finally went in. I haven't had a hotdog but their beer selection is incredible. The staff is super nice and they have some decent wines available as well. It is two floors and we always met upstairs and it's ample space if you are looking to host a group there. Keep in mind, the tap selection rotates and they don't have a lot. This is more of the bottle type place, but still the selection is outstanding and the prices are reasonable. read more

This place is laid-back and cozy. The women that work there are great; they clearly know beer and are happy to recommend things to you. Sometimes, one of the owners has her baby with her, which could be jarring for some. I'm not much of a kid person and it doesn't bother me, but YMMV. Be aware that it IS primarily a bottle shop/beer bar, in that the menu is small and mostly consists of hot dogs with various toppings and a few other things like grilled cheese. The hot dogs are good, don't get me wrong, but they're not the main attraction. If you go here just to eat, you'll probably wind up disappointed- but if you want some awesome beer and a perfectly decent dog, CJ's is great. The beer selection is the best I've found in the area without fighting my way into Philadelphia proper. If you sign up for their newsletter, you can see the new stuff they get in each week, along with tasting events/tap takeovers they regularly host. They've always got a diverse variety of stuff on tap, unlike a lot of places that lean too heavily toward one style. Lots of bottles from craft breweries both local and nationwide, including some you might not normally come across around here - I found a Blackberry Farms bottle, which is a smaller brewery in TN. They've also recently opened a second floor that's devoted to wine. I haven't tried anything they're offering, but it's there, and from what I've seen, it's a good selection. The only real drawback is that sometimes the hours seem inconsistent - I've driven by once or twice to grab a beer, and they've been closed despite it being during their normal operating hours. Now that I live farther away, I'm a little hesitant to go because of that, unless I'm in the area anyway. Another thing to note - CJ's is in the same building with (and I think owned by the same people?) Towamencin Beverage, which also has a wide choice of craft beer in 12 and 24-packs and longer hours. read more

THE place to go for craft beer bottles in the area. This place is always well stocked, and the staff is beyond friendly to help you find what you are looking for. They also sell growlers and have an amazing section of draft beers. A great place to sit and grab a beer with friends as well. They have tables and a large flat screen tv on the wall. And on the plus side you can order food from Pudges Cheesesteak next door will deliver food. Overall a great place to go for a nice night out or if you need to pick up a craft beer 6 pack. read more

They had great gourmet hotdogs, the beer selection was vast! They even had pretty affordable beer on tap that almost acts as a "beer buffet". I'm splitting the difference on this review and averaging it out to three stars, 4 stars for the beer and 2 stars for the food. I'd been trying to get to this place for a while now, over the past couple months every time I was in the area they were closed. So as far as the beer, they have a very good selection of bottles, inventory seemed a little low but there was something of every type of beer represented. There was a good selection on tap as well and a great filling station for growlers and crowlers. It would be great for a local who could stop in, get your growler filled, browse for a bottle of something new and head home. The food was less than stellar. It's a "doghouse" but they only have one type of hotdog. No other sausages, or a veggie dog or turkey dog... And I'm pretty sure they're cooked on a stainless steel roller type cooker. They were overcooked and tough. I asked for a Texas tommy and had to clarify what that was (as it wasn't on the menu. Huh?? It's a "doghouse"!) The roll it was served on was a good roll, but nothing was done to it. It wasn't toasted or even warmed up. My girlfriend got a Reuben dog grilled cheese, the sauerkraut tasted store bought, the Swiss cheese was flavorless, and the Russian dressing didn't really show up. So, stop for a cold beer, but eat next door at Pudge's. read more

Great craft beer selection from all around the country (and even the world). 12 craft or micro brews on tap that are always rotating almost daily. Or you can buy and bottle or can and drink it right there or make your own 6 pack and take it home. Prices range from $1.85 to $20+, so there's something for all budgets and tastes. Laid back atmosphere with a sassy girl and knowledgable guy usually running things. I've been there about half a dozen times and it's becoming a favorite spot. This bottle shop has casual dining with several selections on tap. They have a creative list of flat bread pizzas, and hot dogs with a variety of toppings. We love their Haystacks, which is basically Fritos chips with toppings similar to a nachos grande! The service is friendly and helpful. And they let you order food at the sandwich shop adjoined- Pudges and they will bring it across the walk to your table. 4.5 in my book. read more

The selection of beers is quite impressive for a small place. The decor is rustic and fun, nothing fancy. They have a canning machine for the draft that I never saw before. The dogs are fine, though I'm one of those people who doesn't understand expensive hot dogs. My one disappointment was growler prices. I have to admit, I have not had the food here yet. So I am not sure how that is. The menu has some solid bar-type, easy options and most people seem to like it. Mostly, we go here for the beer. It's not quite a bar, which is great. But you can get a draft beer and drink it at one of the tables. It's quiet, and the owners are always present - they can tell you all you need to know about the beer selection. They also have a great selection of specialty beers in fridge cases - like a bottle shop. Pretty much anything you could want. It's a wonderful alternative to all the local bars for a low key evening trying some good beer. read more

Staff is friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Hot dogs are solid- not as "gourmet" as advertised, but they help keep you sober so you can keep drinking. Food options recently expanded. Let me just say: don't bother with the hot dogs. They're nothing special, and you'll just be pissed at how much you paid. I was looking up places to purchase beer from in the area since I've banned Blue Dog Pub from my rotation (like 2 years now) and was really surprised to find out about the selection here based off of the pictures. I would never have known otherwise about what a great place to purchase craft beer. If there is a way for them to advertise that more outside of the store, they need to discover it because my impression was that it was just a hot dog joint that happened to offer beer. They have the option if you stay there to order food from next-door at Pudge's and have it delivered over there.... I say keep it simple, as as said before, the food is really not their selling point. Went over there once with my mom to eat and case the place to see what they had. Stopped back the next week to look deeper, staff was super friendly, offered samples and gave their personal impressions of the beers on-tap. I purchased two growlers, and someone helped me put them in my car since I purchased a mixed 6-pack, too. It was really nice. I never purchased growlers from anywhere before, and I racked up quite a bill but I think I was worth it. I was buying beer for both myself and a guy I am dating who is a beer snob, told them what he normally drinks, and they made a great suggestion based off of the information given. I got 21st Ammendment Almond Milk Stout which was delicious and I found out later was a limited brew and probably won't be released again. The one I got for my guy was Port Brewing Hop 15 which has rotating availability but very high rating across a lot of beer geek sites, so I'm sure he'll love it. This place has great potential but our first experience was very underwhelming. If you are just looking for a place to mix and match your own six pack or buy a growler to go then this is the place for you. The owner/server is nice and very knowledgeable about beer but has no experience in the service industry and it shows. We came around 12:15 on a Saturday and when we arrived we were greeted but no explanation was given on whether we should sit and have a server come over or order from the counter. The server was too busy updating her draft beer board to pay us (or any other customers) much attention the entire time we were there. Lunch rush on a Saturday is not a good time to work on projects around the restaurant. She barely took order and when our food came we were not given napkins or silverware. The dogs were pretty good although the buns were almost stale a little smooshed. For a $5 hot dog you should get a decent roll that's not falling apart. My husband was never offered another beer and she never checked back to see if we needed refills. I watched as she gave the other customers the same level of service; never once checking up on them after initially greeting them. I even had to open a beer for the gentleman at the table next to me because the server never bothered and he could not get her attention. These kinds of service errors would be considered atrocious at a normal restaurant. I think this place needs to decide what kind of identity they want. Do they want to be like Panera bread where you order at the front desk and then sit down with no service? Or do they want to be a full service restaurant? They need to pick one and stick with it because this blend in between is not working for them. read more

Stopped in for a quick draft an to go over the weekend. Gorgeous little lounge/hangout, great selection of beer, fun crowd and knowledgeable staff. My only complaint is that it is a bit to pricey. Had about 6 drinks total = over $55.00. And most of that was takeout. Our beverages cost more than the dinner we BYO'd to. read more
