Texas Dog with chips and Cardinal Winery Whiskey Mead!

MEAD. If it's on tap, get it! And then get another hot dog to sop that monstrous glass of sweet goodness up. You're gonna need it with that 14.6%! Such a sweet nook of a spot to grab some great brews and munch on some really fun, inspired and flavorful hot dogs. I hear they have a great ladies' night--I'm aiming to check one out in the coming months. The service was really superb. My friend and I were able to sample a couple of draft beers to decide what we wanted and she was extra patient with my greedy self :) It's small and can get rather tight pretty quickly with a crowd, but the selection is pretty vast and great.

The wife and I had a quick lunch here today. We never expected a place like this to open close to us, but we're glad they did. Some very nice, and interesting, hot dog choices...though the dogs seem to take a back seat to the craft beer selection. It's a new joint, and the girl working the counter really wants to grow the biz...I imagine that soon the food will grow to match the beer. My dog was a nice grilled all-beef dog on a potato roll, with bacon, mac n cheese (kraft, and i'm not sad about that at all), and bbq sauce. The roll was bit too crumbly to handle the dog and stuff toppled out, but that was fixed with a fork ;) Perhaps next time I'll opt for the pretzel roll. It's a simple formula, and a good one. I imagine that with time and some casual experimentation, the place will come into its own. It was mentioned that they might add charcuterie and cheeses to the food options, in my opinion a very good idea. Chips would help, and I don't think they would 'tart' the place up any. In fact, I would think a good olive tray, along with some other pickled goodies would compliment the food and beer selection nicely. The decor was nice. Stools around wooden tables. Again, it was a simple formula that worked well. If you're looking for a quick lunch or dinner, or a place to hang out with a few friends and you live in the area, I recommend. I'm pretty sure it's going to become a staple for my day-off lunchtime.

    A tremendous beer selection

I had this spot in my bookmarks but didn't really take a detailed look at it until I recommended it to a coworker who brought back tales and a few slices for me. Even reheating them a day later, the slices provided a glimpse of what this could be. Months afterwards I finally assembled a small but eager crew to join me there. The journey from NJ was fraught with pouring rain and flooding, but we wouldn't be deterred.... We were the first customers here on a very stormy day, and our kind server explained they way the beer walk operates. Our card in hand we proceeded to pour our own tastings from the 16 or so options. On board for this adventure was a friend who specializes in IPAs and other beers, so I thought it best to follow his lead. I'm not really an IPA guy, but these were not your run of the mill beers. I won't list what we tried as the taps change. However, on our visit we sampled 3 Vermont beers all rated over 4 stars. My friend who visits Vermont regularly was amazed that they had these. He remarked " you can't even find these on tap in Vermont"! Ok, say beer is not your thing, well there are also ciders and wine on tap. But let's get to the food. This menu is only red pizza, white pizza, Stromboli and salads. We started with a white that featured pears, mozzarella, Gorgonzola and topped with arugula. This came out looking great and tasting even better. One of the best white pies I've had in recent memory. And if pairing is your thing, those high quality IPAs went perfectly. For a red we did half Italian stallion and half got honey. Another very good pie, but that white though.... I imagine on normal weather days this place can fill up. And there is a lot of outdoor seating too. Our server was very friendly as were the young pie artisans on duty that night . I hope to return in warmer weather and enjoy their offerings outside. Pro-tip: Right next door is Owowcow ice cream, no better way to end a simple pleasures trip!

[Blowing on my nails.] The menu is a mix of American comfort food and gastropub classics, but with flair, and has a bit of everything to satisfy different palates. Our eyes were probably bigger than our stomachs as we ordered 2 apps, 2 entrees, and 2 cocktails, and it was an enormous amount of food. The portions are definitely what you'd call hearty, and everything was very tasty. Thursdays are all day happy hour so we picked the fried calamari appetizer at the HH price (still a full and generous plate and didn't seem like a downsized version) which were tender and well-battered, as well as the hot honey wings which were meaty and substantial. The short rib parpadelle with housemade pasta and a perfectly medium-rare, well seasoned hanger steak with truffle fries completed our satisfying and belly-stuffing meal. The cocktails are serious as well - the presence of a drink with egg white is my personal litmus test for a bar that knows what it's doing, so the Thyme to Bloom special had my name on it. I'm salivating just looking at photos of dishes I didn't order, and am already plotting my return!

I will answer the questions I had before going, as others probably have the same: Is it family friendly? Yes, there were plenty of kids and even a couple babies on site. Its spacious and open air so there is no crowded feel. On the night we went it wasn't overly loud. My kids are usually picky eaters but they devoured their kid's meals and said it was very good. How's the beer? Very good. Branch brews a decent selection of their own beers and ciders which aren't bad at all. Their Cowpath Roadie Stout is particularly good. They also have guest brews from other local breweries. Its self-pour. You get a card to scan at each tap pour whatever you like. This allows you to control portions for samples and try a wider variety The Food? Its pretty good. Their menu isn't as robust as others but it has some good options. The focus on flatbreads. They say their "Goat" is the best, and they are not wrong. Its very good Sports? They have several large TVs and had the Phillies playoffs on. The crowd was very into the game, making for a fun experience. Bathrooms are very clean, single use. Definitely check this place out and don't be afraid to bring kids or a group.

No cash is accepted, so you need to register with a credit card and your name to get a drink card which they link to your credit card. You then use the drink card to tap a strip on the wall above the tap you select for self service and then you pour. The screen above the tap will tell you how much you've spent and the cost of each pour. To order food you have to scan a QR code at your table and then enter the last 4 digits of your credit card so they can identify who you are. When you are done you drop the drink card into a box and you receive a text message with a link to your bill. I found it too complicated and didn't really love the beer selection. The food was not very good either. I guess it's a nice spot to bring a group and sit outside and their website states that outside food is allowed so that is another option.
