Great wings, a little pricey. Wife's burger was OK except for the bite that had a 2 inch portion of freezer paper wadded up in it. Curly fries were great and cooked perfectly. The floor definitely needs a little cleaning. Used the restroom and on the way back to my table my shoes were almost coming off because they were so sticky. I know this is a highly recommended place for wings, but they were just good at best, but definitely not the best I've had in Columbia. Service was fine and friendly. Atmosphere is nice for watching games, and getting a quick bite to eat. I was disappointed about only getting a small serving of Blue Cheese and/or ranch for dipping and it wasn't included in meal. I would rather see the price $.50- $1.00 higher for the meal and never see a charge for a side dip. That just irritates me personally! On a campus visit for my son and he really wanted some wings. Based on online reviews and some recommendations from folks on the CoMo subreddit, we gave CJ's a try. We ordered wings to pick up while we were on our way into town. First problem: I wanted to order 24 wings and get a few different sauces, but was told we could only get one sauce. I don't think I've ever been to a wing place that wouldn't give you multiple sauces when you order a larger amount. Regardless, we ordered several smaller amounts so we could get more variety -- which made the order more expensive. We arrived at CJ's -- looked like a great place to eat and catch a game on the TVs. The staff was very friendly too. We got our order back to the hotel and started to eat. The wings were still plenty hot, and the maple flavored sauce was great. Unfortunately, the wings themselves were not great. My son opted for boneless wings (I'd normally do bone-in wings) and they were very chewy with too much breading. We might give CJ's another try the next time we're in town, and would definitely like to dine in next time, but it didn't live up to the "best wings in CoMo" reviews we had read. read more

If you're looking for some simple bar food, CJs in your place. They specialize in wings by the pound, but have other options for those who aren't in the mood. We got the 2 1/2 Lb original, curly fries, and split a 32oz summer beer and it hit the spot! Food came within 5 minutes of ordering! The shop wasn't packed by any means on a Friday, which was a relief given all the college kids are packing out places by 5pm. You get what you pay for! Prior to today, my family loved CJs. Had a party of 12 and was told that we couldn't separate checks. Knowing that college students typically separate their checks, I asked if the table of 8 college students behind me was also required to be on 1 check and was told yes. I then asked the the students if they had separate checks and they in fact did. My party was lied to, felt discriminated against, and like our business wasn't wanted, and so decided to take it to The Heidleberg instead. On our way out, the manager confirmed that our party could've had 2 separate checks. Not sure why the server removed to accommodate us. We won't be back until this memory fades. read more

Service was good, she was polite and courteous. The restaurant had an old bathroom, dirty water smell. The wings were nothing to brag about. They were just a very generic common wing. I try not to eat at chain restaurants when I travel for business. I saw CJ's on Yelp so I thought I'd give it a try. Glad I did. It's not much inside but the food and service were amazing. Totally awesome wings! I got a 1 1/2 pound order with medium sauce. They were perfectly cooked and sauced and very meaty. Fries were good as well and the server was very attentive. Horrible customer service! I called and ordered 3 lbs. of wings for carry out. I was told it would be 20 minutes. I arrived at CJs 20 minutes later and paid my bill. The waitress/hostess, Haley, told me to take a seat and wait. I waited 10 minutes then asked her when they would be ready. She said someone in the kitchen must be slow. I waited another 10 minutes while I watched in-seat customers order AND get their wings. After 30 minutes I went to the waitress and she said "what was your order?" I then asked her to refund my money. She took 5 minutes looking for my receipt and asked if I was "Alan" or "Jerry" ... when I reminded her of my actual name she looked and my order had been sitting at the counter the ENTIRE time! I said I would take my cold wings but I wanted a refund for my trouble. She fumbled at the register for a while. I asked to see the manager. She said he wasn't there. I asked for his name and contact information. She didn't know anything other than his first name was "Mike". I asked her to write down her full name so I could follow up with the manager and all she wrote was "Haley". She never apologized. She never asked how to make it right. She sat on her phone the entire 30 minutes while the other waitress took orders. I have been a CJs customer for over 25 years. If this is indicative of it's current state I will never go there again. read more

Coming through Columbia a number of time, all I heard was how great the wing were at CJ's. Every time I went by, it was closed. Finally, I was able to find it open and take a couple of friends. We all ordered wings and a large side of fries. The fries were really good! The place was clean and our waitress was extremely nice. My issue is with the food and price. The larger wings I got were blubbery and barely finished. Paying over $1 per wing, I expected much better. I recieved the same opinion from my friends. Wings are delicious, but I have been there more times when it's closed than when it's open. It is wild how often they are closed and do not post the closure anywhere except the door of the restaurant which is an awful way to do business. At this point it's a waste of time to get all the way there and find out they're closed. Too many times we have been disappointed and there are other wing places that are actually open. read more

Absolutely terrible customer service. I have been going to this establishment for 10 plus years and today the service was shockingly terrible and rude. We had put our name in at the bar for the wait list and after numerous of people that came in after us got their name called we simply asked how far we were down on the list and the waitress couldn't tell us because she couldn't find our name on "her" list. Went to go to speak to the man at the bar and he told us that our name had been called inside and outside and that we were skipped. We had been sitting at the front of the restaurant the entire time and none of the six people in our party ever heard our name called and even asked several times if they had called our name. The server at the bar was extremely rude and unprofessional about the incident. Have always loved the food at CJs, but the service has gone down ten fold. Simple respect goes a long ways. read more

We took our family to CJ's last night. It was Friday night and I needed something a little more than beer to kick off the weekend. Bloody Mary? Out of mix. Margarita, nope out too. I asked our waitress what Split T was, since it was the third and last "specialty drink" under the alcohol section. She looked at me like I was crazy and said it's half sweet tea and half unsweet. Really? I was the second to order our food, my daughter had to adjust her order several times to find something they had, the first thing I order, potato boats, out! We left at that point, if you are out of alcohol and food on Friday night something must be wrong. Here's the deal, I'm from Buffalo, NY, born and raised. In the past 10 years I've been away from home I have not been able to find a good chicken wing. CJ's has the best wings I've ever had outside of Buffalo. Order them hot and well done for that extra crispiness. I just had my first CJ's experience and have lived in Columbia for a collective 5 years....I am so disappointed with myself (it was that good). The wings are super meaty and generously sauced. We went with hot sauce and got a side of the BYFO. The fries and fried pickles were a delight. I would agree that the wings at CJ's are top notch. Since I learned how boneless wings come about (should have known it wasn't natural) I decided I needed a new place to get wings cause Buffalo Wild Wings wasn't going to cut it. I heard wings were a specialty here and got on yelp to check it out. I followed the advice of a fellow yelper and got the BYFO on the side. That probably wasn't necessary but it was nice to have something to dip in. The BYFO is spicy but its not like you emptied habanero seeds onto your tongue and decided to chew 'em. The sauce is about more than heat, it has it's own flavor. And....Newcastle pitchers. Don't beer snob me people, If it's dark I'll drink it. You can keep your light beer and your dainty figures. read more

Positives: CJ's had great wings and friendly service. The hot wings were way above average. They weren't terribly hot but very satisfying. The environment is suitable for a college football town which makes for a great place to watch sports. Negatives: CJ's closes at 9, so don't expect to watch any late night football game there. I was greatly disappointed when I had to relocate to watch the rest of the Thursday night Chiefs vs Raiders game. I'd say overall I've had more pleasant experiences many Buffalo Wild Wings. They also have many more wing sauce choices. Gratuity was included on the receipt and added to the total for you, yet then suggested a tip on top of that.
