Trail Stop Brewery has a great setup -- it's a newer place with an awesome building and a comfortable, inviting atmosphere. You can tell they're really trying to establish something special here in town, and I always appreciate when a new local spot opens up. Unfortunately, the food just didn't hit the mark for us. We started with the meatballs, which were clearly frozen -- not fresh or house-made. The texture and flavor were exactly what you'd expect from something straight out of a bag. We also ordered the deep dish pizza, which we were excited to try, but it ended up being pretty disappointing. The crust didn't seem homemade and lacked that buttery, rich flavor you'd expect from an authentic Chicago-style pie. Overall, it felt more like a thick pan pizza than a true deep dish. They even had a special that night of $20 deep dish, so we were excited to try it. Our server was very kind and tried hard, but she was young and inexperienced. She didn't seem to know much about the menu or the specials, but she had a positive attitude and was doing her best, which we appreciated. Since it's a brewery, we decided to try a flight of four of their beers. Unfortunately, every one of them tasted a little flat and lacked the freshness and boldness you'd hope for from house-brewed beers. Oddly enough, I ended up switching to a glass of wine -- which says something when you're sitting in a brewery! I did see they're testing out a new happy hour, so maybe things are still being fine-tuned. I really want to root for them, and I'm glad we gave it a try, but as of now, I wouldn't go back for the food or drinks alone. Hopefully, with time and some adjustments, Trail Stop can live up to the potential their space and concept clearly have. read more

I was looking forward to trying this place while I was in town visiting my parents. The food was ok. The manager needs to train the servers. Our waitress brought our drinks and food and NEVER came back to check on us. She was busy socializing. We had to flag down another waitress for a glass of water (which wasn't served when we ordered alcoholic drinks). Like other reviewers. They have great set up. But there is a lot of competition out there. Up your service game. read more

Star of the show: brown box car cocktail. That was pretty good and the whole reason someone in our party wanted to come back here. The very mediocre pizza was incredibly overpriced. We got a few different pizzas once of which tried to cauliflower crust which honestly wasn't too bad and interesting. Their pizza sauce is just pretty bad though. Toppings were ok, nothing to write home about. I mean still a decent meal but the price still baffles me, I don't know how they expect to serve slightly above cafeteria level pizza and expect to charge you at least 20 bucks for a small, almost personal pizza(I eat a lot but no way these feed more than 2). Service was ok. ambiance was ok. Not factoring this into my review because I feel like that's unfair to the business but more of a "bruh moment." I tried ordering the pesto flatbread and tried to add chicken to it and they said they couldn't do that... Like what? Seems a little crazy that can't be done. read more

We were excited to see this place was finally open. The service was not good, and our food took over an hour to come out. But we will give them the benefit of the doubt because it just opened. It was pretty busy for a week day at dinner as well. There are some outdoor pickleball courts, and the inside is a simple industrial building. - Caprese bread (3.5/5): This was good but not great. Bread was a bit dense. Cheese and sauce were tasty. $8 - Marceline butcher (3.5/5): For $20, this pizza is a bit small. My husband and I shared, and we were still hungry after even with an appetizer. The flavor was good overall. But our crust was a bit burnt. We will give this place another try in a few months, hopefully service and food get better. read more

We have been here with family 3 times. It has always been hit and miss. Service usually good, but they have very young servers who tend to socialize more than wait tables...I worked as a waitress for two years, not resenting some socializing, but they seem to do lots. This evening I ordered the new sliders, and my husband got a meatball sandwich. We saw my plate sit in the window for over 5 minutes before his sandwich was put up and then a while more before the server brought it out. My meal was cold while the sub was still steaming. My bad for not speaking to a manager. Just don't want to deal...told the server but she did not seem very concerned. read more

Delicious appetizers. Handmade ravioli and potato skins were both outstanding. My friend had a salad she said was out of this world. Their pizzas are beautiful. I really enjoyed the Pepperoni Squared with hot honey, and the really efficient and friendly waitress explained they are offering specialties all the time. Just went to Trail Stop for the second time. We had an amazing experience! The silver beer tanks behind a very nice full bar are impressive. The IPA selection is fantastic and very well produced. The food was outstanding! We enjoyed the Neapolitan pizza, skillet olives, and toasted ravioli. The service was excellent and both owners were involved with check-ins. First time at Trail Stop Brewery! We loved everything we had. The olive tapenade with crostinis was amazing!! Ordered the Supreme pizza. It was perfect! We had the Dizzy Hazy IPA and Tincture of Hops APA and both were wonderful. We have never had better craft beer. We will be back! read more

The beer was better this time around, but the pizza is liquidy and soggy, doesn't much resemble traditional Italian pizza really... and continues to disappoint. The appetizers were fine, maybe stick to those and the beer if you're going here. read more

Trail Stop Brewery is fantastic. Have been there several times now. The beer is of the highest quality to be found at a craft brewery: My favorite is the Coal Miner Export Lager. The pizza is wood-fired thin crust style: our favorite is the 'Pepperoni-Pepperoni', which has spicy honey on it. Delicious! So close to the MKT trail. Good location, lots of potential-suggestions: 1 you're by the trail, will need more than one small bike rack 2 have a dedicated beer station (brewery in your name suggests you are set up for beer drinkers) - move to an easier portable or tap set up to pay (trying to complete paperwork squeezed in between folks eating at the bar was a nightmare) 3 have your waitstaff serve outside- the night we were there all outside tables taken, still had to go inside, wait in line by the bar hoping to catch someones eye, then pay by signing paper!!!) read more

Folks this place has nothing wrong with it. The food is very good we had no issues waiting as we had drinks and waiting to play pickleball. The business has to make their profit to cover payroll and expenses so prices are fine. We had cocktails and beer and was very good. Our server is a little shy but did a great job! I was very impressed with their beer selection. For a snack, we had the meatballs which were so tender and delicious. We also ordered the pizza. The pizza was good but a bit pricey. They did say they were going to start using their own dough recipe, so I think this will elevate the flavor to meet the price! We visited here with a party of six. In the afternoon so not busy. They had ordered some starters and the waiter came and took drink orders. The drinks were OK, not great, and we asked twice for water also. We finally ordered and then waited almost an hour for food. The pizza was way overpriced and greasy. The Italian Beef sandwich was terrible. Two of us had this and we agreed. The bread was way too much for the small amount of beef in it and there were so many jalapeño peppers that it was hard to eat. Also, cold pasta as a side? Really? I took most of it home and ended up not even eating the bread. Overall, service needs a vast improvement, wait times are way too long. Food was brought out intermittently so not sure to start eating or not. Also atmosphere was very loud and even though it wasn't crowded we were seated next to a very noisy table. Like we couldn't hear ourselves talk with all the tile and noise. Maybe it's because they are new but Columbia has many great places to eat and you need to hit the ground running if you want to build a clientele. Also the waiter informed us when he finally brought the check that the gratuity had already been added. Maybe because party of six? I thought TIPS meant To Insure Prompt Service. We ordered a pizza and 3 sandwiches. Food took forever to arrive and when it did it was cold. We had to pay for extra BBQ sauce when our BBQ sandwich had maybe a teaspoon of sauce on it. The pizza had more tomato sauce than all other toppings combined and it had zero seasoning. Refills are $.50. Pickeball is $20/hr. Our dinner for 4, and no pickleball, cost $100. No plans to go back unless changes are made. read more
