I go there every Monday for karaoke and buy 2 beers for $9 and tip the bartender $5. Then when I went in on Saturday night, there was a $5 cover charge to go upstairs, so I just ordered 2 drinks downstairs. I guess there was some sort of $2 drink special upstairs, but that was only for those that paid the cover charge. Then when I went to pay with my card, I was told I needed to order something else because there was a $10 card minimum on Saturdays because of the drink special (that i wasn't able to take advantage of). So I guess I was just supposed to drink one more drink and drive home drunk? If I was upstairs, I would have had to order 5 drinks and then drive home? Luckily I had exactly $9 in cash in my pocket, but that meant I didn't have enough for a decent tip. This is a horrible policy and I won't make the mistake of coming here on the weekend ever again. read more

The security guards were racist to my friend telling him "I don't want you here because you look ghetto" and "your pants are trashy." He was wearing blue jeans just like 90% of the people in there. When questioned he had nothing to say besides "I just don't like you." Terrible experience and if you still want to go make sure you dress differently then you usually would. read more

My daughters and I were excited to find an AUCE Crab dinner on a Wednesday night. We drove an hour and walked into an empty restaurant at 4:30 pm. My daughter had researched the price of the dinner and found in a review that it was $35.00....way too steep but we tried it. BIG MISTAKE. We were served a bland " crab vegetable " soup. We were then served a small bowl of overcooked, over-seasoned cubed potatoes with a 1/2 piece of undercooked, strange tasting corn on the cob sitting in the middle of the potatoes. The first set of crab legs came with it and most of the legs did not have meat in them. The " clarified butter" to dip the crab in did not have that uniquely sweet buttery taste you would find at a quality restaurant but we dipped anyway. We had a couple of clusters of crab, did not bother eating the corn or potatoes and my daughter jumped up and said "I have to go to the bathroom!" When she got back she said she felt sick, had just had diarrhea and had a back ache and headache which she gets when she eats any nitrates, additives or color dyes. We left soon thereafter and within a 1/2 hour of leaving my second daughter and myself had to make an emergency stop due to upset stomach and diarrhea. The KICKER though, aside from the diarrhea was that when I received the bill I just about fell over. The dinner was ***$46.99*** per person, along with 3 cokes and an appetizer of mussels which left a LOT to be desired and floating in the same yellow "butter" dip with one large raw garlic clove. This along with the required 18% gratuity brought the bill total to !!!! $ 200.!!!! I called early the next day to speak with the manager or owner and was told someone would call me later in the day. Our bike group meets there once a month upstairs. The staff is very accommodating, the food has always been very good, the beer selection is small but the overall experience is usually very nice. If you chose to sit upstairs, yes, the wait staff will have to go down and back up the stairs for some things and yes, it may add to your wait time but you're on the 2nd level. You have a nice view. The Wife and I end up here on the occasional Friday night. We usually head for the bar and most nights can find seating there. I have tried many different dinners off there menu and have yet to find something that i didn't like. The Wife always orders the same thing(chicken Caesar wrap if i remember correctly). I give CJ's 0 stars. I have been going here for a few years and each visit, the service and food are progressively worse. I had eaten their crab legs multiple times without any issues, but the last time they served me disgusting moldy crab legs. I tried them not realizing they were bad and not only were they unusually soaking wet, but tasted like dirty dish water! They smelled horrible and looked brown and green on the inside. It made me sick, and I lost my appetite immediately. The manager came over and rudely tried convincing me that this was normal! At least this time the server was nice. Unfortunately the food, and management is poor. I will never come back to this restaurant again. The place used to be Peppi's and closed down for bad service and food, and the owner just reopened under a different name. Anna made the evening. First time visit here and was unsure of the venue. Anna took us through all of the specials and helped us on our way. AUCE (all you can eat) Rib Night so the choice was pretty easy. Ribs were hot and plentiful but had to ask for a no-sauce portion. Anna did the running and we were never without hot ribs on the plates. Prices were reasonable for ribs and the accompanying beer. Not crowded at all, sat downstairs just behind the pull down video screen at a high top table. Chairs were comfortable and conversation was easy even with the number of screens competing for attention. French fries were hot and the coleslaw was tasty. Dipping sauce for the fries was different and neither I, or my table companion, asked for any other condiment. I'll be back to try the Wednesday crab fest. read more

iv been here few times and i cant understand how this place is still open. The building is nice and big yet every time iv been there it is dead. The menu is way too big which makes me think that they cant keep everything fresh since i didnt see many people eating. The couple times i ate food here it wasnt good. We had a good time here last night. I had the spinach artichoke pizza (downstairs at the bar) and it was great. Service was fine.Then we went upstairs.I love the open deck but the music was horrible and way too loud. It's obviously not a hot spot for the 30 and under crowd because there might have been 15 people upstairs and it was 11pm on a Friday night. If they played more mainstream music or (God forbid) jazz music, I would meet my friends there every weekend. It's such a nice large facility. It's too bad they can't get more business on a nice warm summer evening. I would go back to the bar downstairs but never the deck again unless they do something about the loud music. read more

Went here with my mother who was visiting. The chicken tenders were cold on the inside. The French dip was good but the au juice didn't taste right. Mozzarella sticks were the same ones you buy at Walmart's deli. Not a fan of those. Husband had a burger which was fine. But otherwise it was expensive for a disappointing meal. First time here and super impressed! We ordered 3 meals and all were outstanding. Everything is reasonably priced for the quality and amount you get. I got the tri-tip steak meal and it was delicious. Just a ton of food and the breadsticks are hit and fresh! The burgers were huge and spot on. My son loved the seasoned fries. We decided to try the Wednesday "all you can eat crab legs" . Most restaurants use "all you can eat" as a loss leader hoping that you consume enough alcohol to still generate a profit on the meal. At CJ's it was barely possible to eat the first plate. The crab legs had absolutely no taste and had a very mushy texture. The drawn butter that is normally served with crab legs turned out to be some kind of yellow tinted oil. We asked our server for real butter and were told that the only real butter they had was the little packets that are served with bread. We paid our bill and left without finishing the meal. This was our first time at CJ's and will certainly be our last. read more

This place has it all! Great food - order the pastas - at prices much lower than the other restaurant/bars around town. The Santa Fe Chicken Pasta is lightly spiced, creamy, and full of flavor. Plus it comes with great breadsticks and a salad (not many places serve bread with meals any more which was nice). A great place to just hang out with friends after work or grab a quick lunch. They have a DJ on the weekend and sometimes a guitar player on the huge patio! Great drink specials as well. read more

came here for one time and one time only and I will never return. my boyfriend and I visited CJ's after hearing about the hype about the "all you can eat crab legs." it sounded promising, so we gave it a shot. the atmosphere is okay, the bathrooms are absolutely disgusting, though. worst I've ever seen in any restaurant before. also, when you order the crab legs you have to pay a "gratuity fee" which is like 18%? it was a while ago so I don't even remember, but I know other comments specify it better. the crab legs are ridiculously overpriced for what you get. you get a bowl of legs, unseasoned, with leftover soupy crab water at the bottom of your bowl. the legs taste like they were cooked in dish water. on the side they give you imitation butter sauce, like the kind you put on your popcorn at the movie theater. absolutely not worth the $60+ meal. oh, plus! you have to order an actual drink if you get the unlimited crab, you're not allowed to just have water. weird. ridiculous. not worth it. it all around really grossed my boyfriend and I out, and we will not be returning. This has to be one of the most racist experiences I've had in my life the bouncer who is was African American made every excuse in the book not to let me in he said I couldn't wear my jacket in because it had a hood on it but I seen at least 5 (white) people with almost the same jacket on be let in without a problem, if I wasn't with friends from work who happen to be White who had already gotten in I would of left . I asked if I could take it back to my car because I didn't want to ruin everybody else's fun he said yes so I had to walk back from my car in the rain 34 degree weather without a jacket. upon my return he said my pants were too big I'm 6'1 220lbs I had on size 38 cargo pants that fit me just right . I've been living in this area almost my whole life and I've always heard these type of stories about this place since it changed ownership but never thought I would experience it first hand. My wife and I go out to dinner nearly every Friday night and was curious about C.J.'s so we decided to pull in for dinner. The manager greeted us at the door which is about the only good thing we experienced during our first and only visit to this establishment. The waitress came over and asked if we would care for a drink. We got that and everything went downhill from there. My wife ordered a New York Strip and I ordered the all u can eat fish. ($10.95 Little Pricey) My wife ordered garlic mashed potatoes with her steak. Well the waitress brought us our drinks and a basket of 4 bread sticks w/1 little butter packet. No big deal I am a big guy and I probably shouldn't be eating butter anyway. I ate the bread without butter....I'm not really one to bitch. Well we got out food to the table and the waitress did not even bring or offer any ketchup for my fries or steak sauce for my wifes steak I got up and got that from the waitress station. I immediately ordered a reorder for my fish and ordered 3 more fish....Big Guy. I ate nearly all of my fish and the waitress returned with one more piece of fish. I told her that was unacceptable I had order three more and she stated that company policy was 1 piece of fish per reorder. What a bunch of bullshit. In the mean time my wife was eat her dinner and went to dive into her garlic mashed potatoes which were simply globbed on to her plate and they were nearly cold and were nasty instant potatoes with some garlic thrown in and again..........no butter. I asked for some butter and when the waitress brought it to the table and it was colder than the potatoes she was gonna melt it on. Well pretty soon here comes the manager with 2 more pieces of fish and asked what the problem was and let him have it. He asked what he could do to make it right. I told him there was not a thing he could to do make it right, and that I would not be back after an experience like that. He comped both meals which was good because I had no intention on paying for anything after that. my husband and i went to cjs wednesday may 22, 2013, we heard about the margarita special and thought we'd give them a try, BIG MISTAKE, the staff was terrible, from the waitress who treated us like we were bothering her, to the bartender who stalled making our drinks while she talked to the customers that she thought were important, by the way did i mention the place wasnt busy at all, when we did get our drinks they were terrible, the boneless wings were overcooked, a friend of mine came later on and was treated likewise, the manager was just as RUDE if not moreso than the other staff, but dont worry guys we got the point, the manager told my friend that it was fine if we didnt come back, CLUE bad for business, she is a lawyer, and i have worked at a local hospital for 24 years, so trust and believe we have been spreading the word about cjs upper deck and will continue to, you have no right to make people feel that way, so if that was the message that you guys wanted to put out there consider it done. read more
