CK Movers moved an very elderly client of mine. The couple are collectors and have a number of handmade, irreplaceable, expensive items that were included in the move. After the move a number of these items were missing. Of course there was denial on their part, although they were the only ones that handled the items unfortunately, it's the couples word against the movers, although it was witnessed that one of the movers carried out the item. Since moving to North Carolina a little over two years ago, I've unfortunately moved four times! It was only after the second move that I decided I needed help during my next expedition. My boyfriend and I moved around the same time last year and he found CK Movers on Craigslist. Although I'm not always an advocate for Craigslist, two strong men for two hours at $40 an hour was definitely the best deal we'd found, so naturally I decided to let him test them out... After a stellar job moving him from Cary to Raleigh I hired them for my move from South Durham to North Durham. They moved everything from my third story apartment to my new house in under two hours (and I've accumulated quite the large amount of goods over the years). I did have one casualty during the experience, a wooden decretive piece had a part broken, there was no offer to repair although I said it was fine. Charlie and Kim (CK) are easy to work with, Kim sets up the appointments and Charlie and a group of other men do the lifting. My boyfriend and I just moved again this past month and we hired them again to help us. I can't tell you how nice it is to not try to pressure your friends into helping you move and just let someone else handing the heavy lifting (literally). So far my boyfriend and I combined have used CK Movers four times and I would definitely use them again and recommend if you are looking for movers. Just note, they do the moving, you still have to rent your own truck and drive it (although they did offer to drive for me, I felt iffy about that as they weren't on the lease) also, I can't confirm if they are insured movers. Fortunately I don't have a lot of breakables, so I was more then comfortable with them handling things. Although if you do have a lot of valuables, you might look into this. I hired CK movers recently. I have booked 2 men and a truck. One guy was crazy slow and he was just killing time inside the truck. Almost everything was loaded by 1 guy. The amount of stuff I have it should be done easily under 3 hours and I did that before but they took 5 hours; that too I moved inside the same community. I complained to the owner but she did nothing rather just said "I will follow up". When I complained they made excuses that the boxes and heavy and all. Not recommended. read more

I have used CK Movers several times in the past five years. They are superb. They handled my furniture as if it were their grandma's crystal vase and each piece was moved efficiently but gently. Recently I broke my ankle and could not use our stairs. CK Movers to the rescue! The day before I came home from the hospital they came and made my downstairs dining area into my new bedroom for the next three months. The dining table was wrapped and placed upstairs in my extra room and my bed and side table were set up in the dining room. I hired CK Movers a few days ago. Good thing is they were nice and handled my things with care. They were about 15 minutes late for the appointment. Not a problem. However when all was said and done, it took them 5 HOURS to move a 2 bedroom apartment, single occupant. There were 2 guys and a lot of disappearing acts from 15-20 minutes at a time. Nothing super heavy and no appliances. It took them close to an hour to just cover the furniture with blankets and 3.5 hours just to load the truck. When I called Kim to discuss, I left a voicemail and didn't get a call back. Naturally after they milked the clock and took my money. Not recommended. read more

I found these guys on Craigslist over a year ago and used them for a 3bdrm house move in April 2016. I'm late in writing this, but they did such a great job, I felt the need to say so a year and half later.! We originally booked them for only a couple hours, but they were indispensable and we extended for most of the day. They were courteous, hardworking and provided the supplies/dollies/pads. They took care of our items like it was their own. We did get our own u-haul truck for $40, but with their rates, it came out wayyyyyy below the moving quotes for another companies. Amazing. Amazing. This company by far has been our top and we will definitely use again in the future and refer to whom needs a moving company. They not only took off so much work for us but really did an outstanding job trying to maximize they space in the uhaul we had in order to get most of our move complete. We hired 2 movers and couldn't be more pleased. They were professional, efficient, and easy to work with. They loaded, drove 20 minutes across town, and unloaded our 2-bedroom townhome in 2.5 hours. And in 90+ degree heat. They took good care of our things. They brought all the things they needed... tools, dollies, pads, shrink wrap, etc. The price was unbeatable. We had to rent our own truck, but the cost of renting a truck and paying them to help us was far cheaper than other moving companies. We'll be using them again. read more

We used ck movers services when we moved out of state from NC.. initially we got in touch with Kim.. even though the response for quote was not very quick.., Their service was really good.. Charlie and Tay came over at prompt time.. they loaded the stuff very quickly. And, when we got to our destination, they started unloading and asked where to keep stuff.. it was very helpful for us as we could unpack easily .. none of our items got damaged.. I had them booked for a Saturday morning move, and they canceled on Wednesday. They stated that a family emergency had come up for one of their movers, and that they asked if my Saturday move could instead be a Sunday move. I didn't have that kind of flexibility, especially so close to my moving date. I'm not going to question the reason they offered -- if there was indeed a family emergency, I sincerely hope everything is okay. I do not begrudge them that. Those things happen and are out of our control. But for a first-time homebuyer about to make a move into his first house, I found the experience extremely stress-inducing, as it left me scrambling to find replacement movers on short notice. I leave a 2 star review because dependability matters to me, especially for businesses I rely upon at high-stress times for high-needs services. I am not suggesting that the mover who had a family emergency should have abandoned his family to help move my stuff, but perhaps the business ought to have had more movers or more staff to accommodate their reservations. Either way, I can't speak entirely for the business and what they should have done, but I can tell you that this was a bad experience for me as a customer. read more

These guys were relatively cheap, but they still made my move a nightmare. Not only did the "lead" or main guy complain the entire time and tell me how difficult the move was going to be, they still dropped and damaged items. They also scraped the walls in the stairwell with a piece of furniture and took their time doing it. When I complained to the lady on the phone at their "company" about how to do a claim, she was dismissive and unresponsive. I was moving into a one-bedroom into another and I had a good bit of stuff. I booked my movers a week from my move in date and the booking process was a breeze and extremely professional. On my moving day, my movers were phenomenal! They came in and got right to work and didn't stall at all while they were on the clock. We had hired CK Movers to help with moving all of our things into PODS. Sandy and Shaun did an absolute tremendous job! I must say, they were very professional, courteous, and respectful of our things. I did not once hear any complaining. I told them what all is going and they got to work. I called the company because I needed a last-minute move (the day before I was supposed to move out) and was really in a bind. I explained this to Kim when I talked to her expecting her to tell me that she would be unavailable. Instead, she said that they could do it presumably without checking with her movers. So I send her my address and everything and the appointment is made for the next day. She then notifies me three hours later (after everything has closed for the night) that they actually can't move me, her apologies. Her apologies aren't going to get me out of here by my deadline. And let me be clear, my issue isn't with the inability to move me on such short notice because I realized that that might happen with any company that I called. My issue is with the fact that she allowed me to make an appointment under the assurance that I would have someone to move me out without checking with her people, and then canceled on me at 10 at night. I would have been more understanding if she had told me she couldn't guarantee that they're available for sure in the first place because I would have kept looking. But I guess that's also a learning opportunity for me; don't trust what anyone agrees to even when you're paying them and always have two back-up plans. Lesson learned. Edited to add that she also didn't even have the decency to call me to cancel. Instead, I received a text message. read more

I should've been more organized, but they made the whole process seamless and was still able to finish within the 2 hours I reserved them for. The first time I used them, I was very pleased; the 2nd time on Thursday, 4/27....I was ecstatic. My crew lead by Alex was so fast, efficient and courteous. They really MOVE! They don't try to dawdle to increase the time....quite the opposite. We made our move easy by removing most of the little stuff in advance ourselves so that they only had the big stuff. I found CK Moving through U-Haul after renting a truck for a move into a new house. I was extremely satisfied from the time that I scheduled the appointment (with Kim) until Charlie and help (I think his son) put together the last items. I believe that this is a family owned business. Everyone that I dealt with were very professional and courteous. I wasn't sure if I was would use all of the time that purchased. Kim told me to utilize the time to have them put things together. They loaded the truck really fast. They even took apart the dining room table. I asked Charlie if he could drive the U Haul truck because I felt uncomfortable doing so. I also requested to make an unexpected stop to pick up a king size mattress/box spring. Charlie did not mind and made sure that he packed the truck well and safe enough for the mattress/box spring to fit. I actually ended up using all of my time and wanted the beds put together because I knew it would take me forever to do so. so I requested an additional hour at a very reasonable price. Long story short- Charlie and company put together 3 beds, headboards, desk, and kitchen table and chairs in less than an hour. I would highly recommend CK Movers as they were very personable and professional. They handled everything with care and did not even allow me to move anything myself. read more
