CKO Kickboxing in Omaha is hands down the best fitness club I have ever been to!! I've been a member of CKO for almost a year, and I attend classes 3-4 times a week (yesterday was my 117th class!). The instructors are absolutely incredible people and they're some of the most enthusiastic and encouraging individuals I've ever met! Each class not only feels like a fitness & cardio session but also a team effort where we all motivate eachother to stay on track, and hit (and kick!) the combos and routines that are set by our instructors. Being part of CKO has truly felt like one big family! :) In the 10 months that I've been a member (this is the first time I've ever joined a kickboxing gym too!) I've witnessed a huge and positive physiological change in my mind and body, as well as my mood and motivation too! I am so glad I joined CKO last year. I have been taking classes at CKO for over a year and a half (200+ classes and counting!) and absolutely LOVE IT. The instructors are all very positive and encouraging and that helped me early on when I was very out of shape and was scared of being judged in the gym. CKO is a welcoming environment, regardless on whether you are already shredded or just beginning your athletic journey. If you are worried of being judged, I will squash that fear. DONT BE! The instructors and other boxers are all incredibly friendly and encouraging. I have not met an unfriendly person here. The classes themselves are a hour long and include primarily kickboxing, as well as ab workouts and other exercises depending on the day. On Wednesdays and Fridays, half of the class is spent doing strength training with weights and the TRX. All of these extra exercises are to improve your kickboxing. Whatever the activity, they are clear with instructions and if you are unsure of what you should be doing, the instructors are always happy to help. If you need to take a break, you arent judged and can jump back in when you are ready. I really like that CKO encrouages me not only to maintain, but improve. Natalia, Lornell, and the other instructors all push you to your limits and encourage you not to give up and to keep it going. I dont know how many times I have felt like giving up, and Dustin's speech gets me back on track. Seriously man, your speeches are awesome! CKO makes it really easy for me to get in shape. I was never an athletic person, but CKO has given me a love for kickboxing and makes me look forward to going to the gym. I would recommend anyone give them a try! I have been invited to come try out CKO many times, but never ended up coming for reasons I'm sure a lot of people (women specifically) have going through their minds. Things like, "oh kickboxing is just for big buff dudes," "I can't go I'm just a girl," "I can't go I have never kickboxed before," "what if I look ridiculous," etc etc. All these worries and thoughts kept me from coming, but the other day I finally gave in and showed up. All the lies I had running through my mind were debunked after stepping foot into CKO. Something I love about CKO is that the minute you walk in the door you feel welcome. I didn't feel out of place, I didn't feel like the newbie or the outsider, I felt welcome. There are all different kinds of people, moms, dads, fit people, people working to get fit, people who just want to punch a bag, women and men alike. I felt no judgement, no fear of not being good enough, I felt completely loved on and invited in. Now, I happened to come on a day where they did something they have only done twice, which was their special 90 minute class (classes are usually an hour). I would definitely not suggest the 90 minute class if you are new to kickboxing or the gym, not because it was bad, but because it was so good and so hard I am still recovering and probably will still be recovering a year from now (lol). DURING : During the class I was completely aware of everything we were doing. I didn't feel lost or out of the loop at all. The trainers were SO kind. I mean, wow, I wanted to thank them over and over for their kindness. One of the trainers, Natalia, was so spunky, upbeat, but also so dedicated to the customers. She helped me almost every time making sure my form was correct and I knew what to do. I LOVE that. You do not find many gyms like this one, nor do you find trainers like these who are so invested in the customer. Most trainers give up if you keep doing a move wrong. These trainers don't let us have bad form and hurt ourselves even if they have to correct us a third time. The class was HARD. I have never had sweat literally drip OFF my body before and onto the floor. Never have I had that happen and they got the gold medal for being the first to kick my butt. I thought I was in good shape until 45 minutes in I had to go to get motivation from the owner. They do a variety of moves. You are squatting, you are punching, you are kicking, you are jumping, you are crunching, you are doing just about everything to get the biggest full body burn you'll ever have. By the end of the 90 minutes I was dazed and dead, but I was soooo satisfied with my workout. Now, two days later I am still raving about CKO and also annoying everyone in my family about how sore I am. Something I can say with confidence is that the managers of CKO Omaha are absolutely invested. They care SO deeply about Every. Single. Person. 100 lbs or 300 lbs, you are WELCOME. They don't play favorites, they love the life out of anyone who comes in the door. They have VISION for you, they want you to be healthy and happy and the best version of you. What else needs to be said?? I love this place, the trainers, the workouts, the atmosphere and culture. You walk in and they greet you kindly!! No pressure to buy a membership and they want you to have the most fun possible. I came with no expectations and the workout was so much fun, I signed up right away after class. The structure of the classes are great and exactly what I needed. I've been going to CKO for 2 months now and it's like family!! They want you to achieve your goals, hands down -- no ands, ifs or buts about it. Ryan, Angie, Natalia, Lo and Emily do truly care about those in their classes and make sure you perfect the technique to get maximum results. I see my body changing for the better because of the workouts, effort and impact they have in helping me reach my goals.
