I needed to update my review! They are always so nice when me and my boyfriend come in. We went in the afternoon this time and the food was really good. The first time we went closer to closing time. I suggest going in the afternoon! Patties: 10/10 , I only eat patties from Golden Crust and I loved that these were not overly flaky and falling all over the place. They tasted fresh and they both were delicious. The spicy beef patty was my favorite. All the meat dishes were good. I enjoyed my jerk chicken especially when you get jerk sauce on it. I think I forgot to ask for it last time and the sauce makes it much better. The rice and peas are soft and not over cooked like some other places. My boyfriend really likes the rice here, I actually prefer harder rice but with the oxtail gravy I was happy because that had a good taste. The mac & cheese was one of the better ones I had around the area. Sometimes it just needs to be heated up some more. I suggest going here & trying it out! We will be back.

The restaurant was packed, so we waited about 10 to 15 minutes, even with a reservation. Thankfully, it was a beautiful day. Once seated, we ordered a few drinks. My Strawberry Basil Lemonade was refreshing and their Virgin Pina Colada with Strawberry was perfect. Our waitress, Queen, recommended a few items, and they were a hit. The Coconut Shrimp were crispy and flavorful, and the sweet chili dipping sauce complemented them well. I was nervous that the Jerk Chicken was going to be too salty, but the seasoning was outstanding. The spice level was fine, not too spicy at all. And the Coconut Rice & Peas were great. I'd happily return and recommend this spot to family and friends.

Note/General Review- Pardon most of the photos as they are either overexposed or very red. Dishes…read morein general are well-flavored, though less spicy than you'd expect I was at this small Jamaican restaurant and rum bar with a smaller group than usual a while ago. The service was friendly enough, and the music was audible, but not too loud, though this was also probably because there weren't that many people there. Along with another person, we each had a cocktail while waiting, with them ordering one of their rum punches, while I went with the Island Time, I believe. The drink for $16 contained rum, which was presumably Wrey & Nephew, along with lime, and coconut water, and judging by the cocktail menu, this was likely the drink I got, as I tend to avoid cocktails with a lot of fruit juices. Whatever it was, it was balanced nicely as I could taste the rum, but there wasn't too big a kick. We got two appetizers. The first to arrive was the 'Stamp and Go' Plantain & Saltfish Fritters for $17 served with a scotch bonnet garlic aioli dipping sauce. There were plenty of fritters, and they were crispy on the outside with a soft middle. The aioli had a slight kick to it, although not as much as I expected for being made with scotch bonnets. While I liked the texture, I do wish there was more flavor from the saltfish, though I am more used to that being present during company parties, served with the more traditional ackee. The other was the very tasty $19 Jerk Goat Ribs, served with a jerk BBQ sauce. The ribs had a great texture with the meat tender, but not completely falling off the bone. There was also a lovely extra crisp on the outside, reminding me a bit of bark from BBQ. The sauce had a mild sweetness with a little kick, and the side pickles added some extra spice and texture. It was also very tasty. All of our main dishes were good as well. My favorite was probably the Sorrel Glazed Lamb Chops for $37, served with a side of our choice. The hibiscus flavor was there, but it wasn't too sweet or sour. Just like with the ribs, the meat, which consisted of four chops, was perfectly cooked. Our side choice was the festival, a fried dough that was new to our host, though not to me. It had a mild sweetness as expected, and for those who haven't had it before, you can compare it to a sweeter youtiao. There was also a pleasant side salad, which was served with the other main dishes. Also very good were the $18 Jerk Mushrooms, with sauteed portobello mushrooms served with rice and peas. The jerk flavor was what you'd expect, though with less of a kick, which was similar to the other dishes, with the mushrooms being cooked down properly while retaining some texture. The rice and peas had a nice texture with a bit of sweetness. There was also the Coconut Curry Oxtail & Spinnas for $36, consisting of braised oxtail cooked down in a coconut curry sauce with spinnas (small boiled dumplings), rice & peas. The oxtail was tender and fell off the bone, and the curry had a mild sweetness. The spinnas reminded me of mini gnocchi in terms of texture with some plumpness. This was again tasty. This might be a pricier Jamaican place, but I can't complain much at all, outside of maybe the food lacking a bit of heat. The price and lack of heat reflect the neighborhood, though, and I guess I could always ask for their hot sauce or similar. I would go back and try more things.

I want to give this another shot since I got this via door dash. Not overpowering. I would like to actually visit the establishment and give the food another try next time I'm in town.

It didn't take long for us to decide what we wanted to order. However, I was torn between the jerk salmon and the oxtails but the oxtails won the battle with a little help from the gentleman. My son ordered jerk chicken as his entree because that's his favorite. My son and I both agreed that the food was delicious and the meal was truly satisfying and enjoyable. Excellent job, well done! I would definitely come back and support this business again.

This is one of my favorite go-to comfort spots. The food is great, but the service is iffy…read more I will usually call ahead to place an order for pick-up. Sometimes there is an older lady working the front/phone who will refuse to take an over-the-phone order. Sometimes you won't be able to get someone on the phone right away. This usually means that you'll need to go in person and will have to wait an extra 15-20 minutes. She is usually overwhelmed and flustered. She can be snippy, but please be patient. She tries really hard. As for food, the combo plates are a must. I usually order jerk chicken with mac and cheese and candied yams. My fiancé will usually order oxtails with candied yams and mac and cheese. All plates come with rice and peas. Sometimes, we'll also get an order of fried plantains, but it all adds up very quickly. The combo platters alone are around $22 each. The jerk chicken is really tasty but definitely has some heat. The portion and seasoning are very generous. It goes really well with the sweetness of the yams. My favorite curated bite is chicken skin, yams, and mac and cheese. As for the oxtail, it is very tender and very flavorful. Keep in mind that these oxtails aren't the sweet kind. They do have some spice and are savory but not sweet.
