I needed to update my review! They are always so nice when me and my boyfriend come in. We went in the afternoon this time and the food was really good. The first time we went closer to closing time. I suggest going in the afternoon! Patties: 10/10 , I only eat patties from Golden Crust and I loved that these were not overly flaky and falling all over the place. They tasted fresh and they both were delicious. The spicy beef patty was my favorite. All the meat dishes were good. I enjoyed my jerk chicken especially when you get jerk sauce on it. I think I forgot to ask for it last time and the sauce makes it much better. The rice and peas are soft and not over cooked like some other places. My boyfriend really likes the rice here, I actually prefer harder rice but with the oxtail gravy I was happy because that had a good taste. The mac & cheese was one of the better ones I had around the area. Sometimes it just needs to be heated up some more. I suggest going here & trying it out! We will be back.

Stopped by after work but unfortunately happy hour was over at that point (I think we arrived at 6:30PM ish). Did not make a reservation but were sat down super quickly. The service was quick and attentive. Loved the ambiance and theme throughout the establishment. The bar in the front still gave that grove street vibe. We ordered Combo A (crawfish and headless shrimp) with their special seasoning plus fried catfish with sweet potato fries. Those sweet potato fries were amazing, best I've ever had. They were seasoned so well, I think cajun seasoning, and nicely crisp. The boil was good, wish it came with more of the sauce/seasoning. I liked the shrimp but was not a fan of the crawfish. Definitely going to return to try a different combination..

What you may not know is that in addition to sidewalk seating in the front, they have a cute courtyard area as well more within the restaurant. It is a bit more intimate and quiet than being in the front. The food is good! They have a nice selection ranging from lobster to crawfish. I ordered the shrimp basket which was delicious. I really enjoyed their home made lemonade as well. Price wise the place is reasonable given its location. I would definitely come back again.

The catch of the day was solid but could be more flavorful. The fries weren't my favorite as you couldn't really taste the truffle. I also generally prefer thin cut fries. Service (4/5): The staff were nice and friendly. The place was very busy when we went on Sunday late afternoon around 530pm. Some of the items like the fish and chips weren't available because the shop was short staffed. The food took around 25 min to come out due to the short staff. Ambiance (5/5): Chill fish shop ambiance with indoor and outdoor seating. Nice relaxing music playing and cool fishing decor. Tables inside are a bit cramped while outdoor tables have more space. We used to buy fish from Citarella in Manhattan, but now we're glad to have a local store that sells top-quality fish. We often buy their salmon to make oven-baked salmon with red bell peppers and onions over jasmine rice. Their salmon is always incredibly fresh, moist, and tasty. I also love their oyster po' boy and 'fish of the day' sandwiches. I highly recommend Scale's fish to anyone who lives in or visits Jersey City.

Perfect compliment to the day eating my favorite food Sushi. Now I have to take the opportunity as hubby doesn't like it so when we travel no sushi restaurants. Lucky for me and Mom Izumi is the best at sea! So we start with the classics a nice Japanese beer and edamame it was a generous serving with just the right amount of salt. Pork dumplings, and tempura vegetables were terrific for everything else I got adventurous so I said bring me what you do best. That is when they brought everything and alot of it. The chicken dish was exceptional. I ended with a sweet dessert a sesame ball with a sweet dark paste inside it was delicious. If I could I would eat here every day. And as a bonus, it has not yet been "discovered" by the Yelp Elite / food influencer crowd (besides yours truly). The Alexandrian Style Shrimp was huge and delicious, but the Grilled Branzino (and really, any whole grilled fish) is the big, belting diva of the menu and one you should not miss. Whole, ground spices are packed into every bite care of lovely marinade, and your teeth will rejoice at how tender the meat is. Entrees all come with generous, complimentary portions of salad, tahini and pita, as well as lots of fluffy rice, so you can't walk away hungry. The prices are on the higher side, sadly--it seems nowhere is immune to inflation these days--but at least you'll get a ton of bang for your buck.

A Little Unassuming Gem for Alexandrian Food in JC…read more I found this place on a Eater Jersey City list and wasn't expecting much but the food was surprisingly delicious. The space is small, about 8 tables, with dated, seventies decor, complete with plastic on the tables. Only one woman in the kitchen. We had the grilled Orata, which came with rice, salad, babaganoush and tahini sauce, side of eggplants with peppers in tomato sauce and the Alexandria style shrimp. Everything was fresh, the fish grilled to perfection and the shrimp well-seasoned. There is also a sandwich menu, but it was not available that day. This place as all of the elements I love in small businesses; no pretention, no gimmicks and no "fusion"...just authentic, simple, home made food, from kitchen straight to my stomach with no orchestra and fireworks. My only gripe is that the prices are high but given that food costs have risen so quickly in the last few years, I completely understand.
